Though she couldn’t see him directly doing this, she sensed his form by the door, his light tan fur contrasting between the warm walls and pitch black hallway. He was ‘standing guard’ by the door. For a moment that felt painfully short, the two former lovers stared at each other and it was enough to send Izzy’s heart rate break through the ceiling. He wasn’t scowling. He wasn’t frowning.
