Jules looked up, thinking.\n “Well, now that I got these pants...” Jules said, whipping her shopping bag around. “...we can head over to Audrey’s house. I’m sure they got some food.”\n “I guess so.” Miranda said softly, still unsure how to fee-\n “Yo! Look who’s here!” Jules yelled across the mall walkway. Izzy and Becky turned and stepped awkwardly. Miranda adjusted her glasses and saw they were walking towards two figures. It was Izzy and Becky.\n “Oh, it’s Izzy and Becky!” Miranda said warmly, smiling to see friends. We figured you guys would be finger deep in something to keep from answering your phones OR returning the calls.” The two girls looked away or at the ground. Miranda felt Jules was doing her usual friend-embarrassing.\n “W-w-wee… we were, uh… we were busy…” Becky said. Izzy spoke with a smile. \n “Y-yeah, we were both busy!” The girls went even redder and more embarrassed the more they spoke. Jules, paws on her hips, eyed the two suspiciously, but just shrugged it off. \n “Well, that’s where we’ll be. I’ll be with Dennis and Randa, I dunno, maybe she’ll make out with someone.” Miranda peeped. \n “Er, I, uh, oh…” She stammered. Jules laughed and slapped her friend on the back. \n “Don’t worry, Miranda! You’ll find your King Bee!” Jules exclaimed. Izzy cocked her head. \n “‘King Bee?’” Miranda squeaked. Jules looked enthusiastically at her. \n “Yeah! The main man who invades your flower and stings ya!” she said, big smile. Becky got angry a little and looked at Jules as such. \n “Jules… that’s… ugh… such taste…” Becky said, walking away while the girls giggled. \n “Well, we’ll try to stop by if we can!” Izzy said, waving as the group split. \n “Hope TA see YA both THA!” Jules cried. The girls all stopped in their tracks.\n “‘Tha?’” Becky repeated as they started moving again.\n “I dunno, I’m not a poet.” Jules said over her shoulder. Miranda waved. \n “Bye, Izzy! Bye, Becky!” She called out, watching her two friends disappear from sight.\n “Boy, that Becky is a righteous bitch, huh?” Jules said, arms up and paw holding the bag behind her head. Miranda gasped; wasn’t this too close still that Becky coulda heard her?!\n “jules!” she whispered.\n “What?” Jules asked.\n “that was too loud. becky coulda heard you!” Miranda was still whispering, back hunched over. Jules shrugged.\n “She knows I love her.” She said. Miranda looked back and could no longer see the two girls.\n “We tried calling them? When?” Miranda asked, in her normal voice, now that they were out of range.\n “Well, I tried, just before you got to JuiceBerry. No answer on either phone, probably too asleep or something.” Jules said, giggling. “Mmm, maybe they shared a bed!” Miranda looked off to the side, blushing, imagining sharing a bed with Jules, all that warm flannel, wintery weather... fireplace...\n “She didn’t look like she’s in pain.” Jules said. Miranda snapped back to reality.\n “Huh? Who?” she asked.\n “Izzy. She went home early yesterday cus she was being haunted by the Krampus or whatever.” The kangaroo girl said. Miranda straightened her back, eyes to the side.\n “You mean ‘having cramps?’”\n “Yeah, yeah.”\n “Well, they don’t always, um, hurt...” Miranda said, blushing. They walked out of the mall, back into the icy cold air.\n “Buuurrrr! Wow, did it get colder while we were in there? Jeez!” Jules said aloud, covering herself and dropping her hood down.\n “I dunno, maybe...” Miranda said, covering herself with her hood and unlocking her phone. Her weather app said it was 35 and overcast. “Yeah, it was about 4 degrees or so warmer when I left my house.” She said, sniffling. There had been snowfall the past two days, so there was white everywhere, but it was the wind that had picked up since they went into the mall. Miranda wanted to mention this, but felt it would be too dorky, so she put her phone back and they walked toward the monorail station. Miranda looked down at her feet, feeling inadequate once again. That icy wind chill, making everything cold.\n The station was halfway between the intersection with JuiceBerry and the southern end of the mall, more toward Miranda’s street. It was in the middle of the parking lot, so they didn’t have to traverse a long distance in this cold. The wind whipped them both, but soon they came near a retaining wall near a loading dock where some uneven ground lent cover from the biting cold air rushing by until they could get to the station. A quick round in the open and they were up in the entrance, ascending stairs that led them to the platform, it’s green faux-grass floor needing an update, Miranda felt. They wiped their feet on the green and went into the lounge area, where it was warmer and there was no wind.\n “Ahh, wow! It’s insane out there, huh?” Jules said, whipping her hood up off her head.\n “Yeah, it’s too cold!” Miranda said, admiring Jules’ red pigtails flailed about on top of her shoulders.\n “Icy icy!” Jules said, pretending to wipe, uh, frost from her shopping bag..?\n “How long until the next train?” Miranda asked, looking around. Jules looked up at a prompter.\n “Um, like 7-ish minutes, I guess.” Jules said, sitting back to normal, still shivering a little. “That wind chills ya to the core.” She said, head down, eyes closed, all scrunched up, attempting to keep in all escaping heat. \n “Sure does.” Miranda said, looking at Jules, admiring her. She wanted badly to run her paw up the kangaroo’s head, over her hairline and down in back, tangling her fingers in red.\n “Mmm, that’d be nice...” Jules said, smiling blindly. Miranda froze. What did she mean by that?\n “Huh?” the startled monkey girl asked. Jules looked at her.\n “Warm flannel, fireplace, food...” she said. Miranda relaxed.\n “Oh, heh, yeah...” she said, sitting back.\n “It’ll be nice...” Jules said, trailing off, closing her eyes again. Was she gonna fall asleep? Miranda nudged her. “Hmm?”\n “Say, um...” Miranda swallowed, “How’s your relationship with Dennis? What’s he like?” Jules opened her eyes wide, smiling at her friend.\n “Y’mean other than his big dick?” she said. Miranda was hoping to avoid that.\n “Yyyyyyyeah... other than that... does he have any other, you know... qualities?” Miranda said. Jules looked up, touching a finger to her chin.\n “Strong arms... good scent, well, sometimes!” Jules giggled.\n “‘Sometimes?’” Miranda asked, smirking.\n “Yeah, when he washes his balls!” Jules laughed. Miranda smirked. What was with this girl? Miranda figured she would know who she'd been crushing on all this time. \n What was it about Jules she liked? She was a crazy, unhinged kangaroo girl who probably had sex more times than Miranda had ever thought of it. Or did she? Miranda watched the girl next to her smile and look off out a window, her mouth slightly open and her bangs curled up where the hood had been. Was it all for show? Was she really an 'easy girl?' That's what Miranda’s older brother, John, said about the kangaroo once, when friends visited; that she was 'easy' and a 'slut,' but even if that were all true, nothing seemed to damper the way Miranda felt about the redhead. It didn't make her laugh any less infectious, her smile any less charming, her voice any less intoxicating. Those eyes, god, what about Jules didn’t she adore? This beautiful girl who was severely out of her league; no way would she wanna date a girl like Miranda, right? It was already unrealistic that she allowed her to be her friend, let alone as Miranda to accompany her to buy pants and, gulp, even change with her in the fitting room!\n “For real, though, Dennis is kind of an idiot.” She said, leaning forward, staring at the floor. “But he’s got great arms.” She said, smiling again, letting a little chuckle out. “Was there anything else you needed?” Miranda asked, seeing them come to another crossways in the mall.
“Not really. We could go get something to eat, yeah?” Jules asked. Miranda felt her tummy rumble, too. She hadn’t eaten since breakfast that morning at home.
“Sure, but we don’t really have the money, do we?” she asked, unsure. Jules looked up, thinking.
“Well, now that I got these pants...” Jules said, whipping her shopping bag around. “...we can head over to Audrey’s house. I’m sure they got some food.”
“I guess so.” Miranda said softly, still unsure how to fee-
“Yo! Look who’s here!” Jules yelled across the mall walkway. Izzy and Becky turned and stepped awkwardly. Miranda adjusted her glasses and saw they were walking towards two figures. It was Izzy and Becky.
“Oh, it’s Izzy and Becky!” Miranda said warmly, smiling to see friends. The pair finally began to smile as Izzy waved her paw.
“Hey, guys!” Izzy said.
“Yo, Iz…” Jules started. Izzy nodded.
“Yeah?” she said.
“Isn’t it a flow day for you?” Jules said, pointing. Both Izzy and Becky went deep red and Becky seemed to get frustrated.
“Jules! What the hell?!” Becky yelled. Jules shrugged.
“So I memorized you strange placentals’ menstral cycles, big deal; it’s part of being a friend,” Jules turned to Miranda, “which reminds me, Randa, you’ve got only a few days left until yours starts, huh?” Jules said, walking off a bit, seemingly content with baring her friends’ embarrassment out in the open, but at least it was between friends.
“Whaa?!” Miranda went red and looked down, “I… I guess I do, yeah…”
“Don’t embarrass people, Jules!” Becky growled. Izzy nervously chuckled.
