It's not so bad.\" Right next to the boy was his still fuming mother, Brenda, who tore at her food with a level of determined voraciousness.\n \"Don't try to make him feel better, honey; he's pretty inconsolable right now.\" She said, working on Tay's food, too. The group ate silently for a while, taking in the sounds of camp. Despite the awkwardness, the surrounding sounds still soothed the most-likely tired campers. Yells and laughter in the distance, mumbling of talkers in the spot near theirs, birds tweeting. The sight the girls saw as they returned to camp was Brenda wrapping Tay's injured paws in plastic and tape, hoping to let him shower. It had been a long day, and Izzy ached, her bones begging for sleep. She knew Jules felt the same, having not felt up for playing in the shower. Even her eyes drooped.
"Mom... could we lay down? Grab a nap 'til dinner?" Izzy found herself saying. Yeah... that sounded like a great idea...
"You know, we might need help making dinner." Brenda said, eyeing her tape jobs held up from the foolish boy.
"But, Mom, we're tired." This gained a parental stare.
"You don't think we're tired as well?" Brenda said.
"Can I go, Mom?" Tay chirped, looking at his imprisoned appendages. Brenda caught his eye in the corner.
"Just try to not get them wet." She said, with an air of knowing the wounds would get drenched. Tay popped up and took off to his tent with Cotter, who'd been sitting by, watching the wrap. Brenda stood up, gathering wrapping materials from the table.
"Mom, it's been a long day." Izzy said. Brenda looked directly at her daughter.
"You're gonna help us make dinner, Isabelle."
"But, Mom-"
"Don't argue with me, understand?" Brenda said, looking away. Izzy threw her arms down and marched to the tent.
"Fine..." She said, watching Jules unzip the tent flap and crawl inside.
"Weird to hear you be like that, Iz." The roo said, tail flipping.
"Be like what?"
"A brat." Jules laid back on her sleeping bag, gushing a sigh. Izzy thought about it; it was true she wasn't a bad child, at least according to everyone else. Tay was usually the problem, she felt.
"Why ya layin' down, Jules? That's gonna make me sleepy..." Izzy whined. Jules grinned slowly, paw under her head, other paw across her belly.
"What? Don'tcha wanna be a bad girl?" Jules giggled. Izzy smirked, moving hair from her face.
"No..." No, she felt, Izzy wasn't the bad girl; Jules was the pregnant one. "Wanna help us make dinner?" She asked. Jules smirked.
"Of course."",
