"I'll kick your ass!" Another tantalizing outburst. Another, calmer voice spoke out.
"Hey, leave him. He's just a kid." A bear boy said. His fur was black. No, wait... Izzy scaled the wall. That wasn't his fur. Tay was being cornered by the teen with black fur. A cat. Something in Izzy felt warm. Jukes stood up beside her. Was that... the guy?
"Hey, stop!" Izzy said, instinct to protect Tay overriding her shock of possibly confronting the cat guy. Heads turned around and it was confirmed: it was him. Izzy felt it like a ripple through her and Jules. Something strange in that moment, though: it seemed to ripple through him as well. Did Jules register that? Did he actually recognize us? "Leave my brother alone!" Izzy yelled, just as the realization that her and Jules, in swimsuits, had their bodies in full view of him. Jules' body, especially, the one he was inside. The cat guy seemed to calm down and back away from Tay, who scurried off along the river, turning his head.
"Haha, asshat! My sister scared you off!" He said. Cat guy winced and spun around, nailing a punch in Tay's arm, making the dingo boy wail in pain.
"Yeah, well, Tay, you deserved that one." Jules said in a chuckle, but then shifted to the cat guy. "Say, black fur, can we see your dick?" Izzy nearly fell off the slippery wall and the teen boys all laughed nervously. Cat guy, most of all, was blushing hard.
"You Aussie kids are all weird!" He yelled, turning and swimming away with the bunch of teens laughing around him.
"Jules, what the heck?!" Izzy said, a little under her breath.
"Well, we need to confirm it's him, right? I just need one glance!" The roo girl said, jumping down into the deep end. Izzy followed suit, feeling like the butterflies in her tummy wouldn’t allow her to fall into the water. Izzy surfaced and wiped her eyes. Again, the water didn't move very fast. It was a gentle pull back toward the wall, but not enough they couldn't swim against it. Jules was already a few feet ahead and down to her chin. Was she trying to be sneaky? In all the greens and blues and blacks, orange fur with red hair stood out bright like a fire. Izzy swam up, down to her chin as well.
"So, what are we gonna do?" She said lightly.
"I'm gonna look at his dick." Jules said, hard determination on her grinning face.
"How're you gonna do that?"
"I'm gonna trick him... somehow..." Even Jules didn't seem to know what to do. She was still blushing.
"Did you... feel it? When he roared?" Jules closed her eyes and giggled.
"Oooooo, yeah... I felt it..." she said, biting her lip. "It was like... he was cumming again..."
"Well... hold on..."
"Cumming cuzza Tay!"
"No, wait..." Izzy thought about that and shook her head, "No..." Izzy looked ahead and clearly saw the group of boys and worried they'd find Tay and beat him up, but she didn't see Tay or Cotter anymore. She figured they got out to do something stupid in the woods. Maybe they'd meet another park ranger, as they hadn't met one in this park yet, at least not because of Tay doing something against park rules. They had visited parks before where it either included a visit from a park ranger or ended with a visit from a park ranger. Though Izzy didn't doubt Cotter could do anything that would get them kicked out, she was absolutely sure Tay could.
One such visit, when they were much younger, like about 4 years earlier, the McIntosh family visited a park in Montana or Wyoming. And though it wasn't a major national park, it was still breathtaking. The mountains and valleys playing off each other, the deep greens of the trees as they contrasted with the wide open lakes, or maybe there was only one very big lake. None of this mattered to Tay: he was determined to get his walrus plush.
The family stopped at what ended up amounting to a tourist trap on the way there, though Jason and Izzy didn't mind it. It was filled with oddities and strange artifacts supposedly discovered in the woods surrounding the mountains we tourists were about to head into. They had a lot of strange things to buy as well, including toys. One thing they definitely had was plush toys, including a hideous walrus plush Tay grew severely attached to. It was gnarled on one side and looked evil, eyes bugging out in different directions. Brenda said they shouldn't buy anything there because the prices were 'ridiculous' and it was 'all a scam anyway' and that she certainly wouldn't buy something that looked horrible like the walrus Tay had picked out. Jason tried to defend it as good ol' Americana, but the longer they were there, the shadier it got, especially when the guy running it kept breathing close to Brenda and licking his lips.
So, Tay never got the plush, and he never stopped mentioning it. He never cried or even whined about it; he just kept wanting to talk about walruses the entire ride up to the park. Izzy asked him if he was upset about not getting that ugly walrus plush and he denied it with all the fiber of a strong 'YES, I'M UPSET.' She reminded him we were there for only, like, ten minutes. How'd he get attached to something like that so quickly? He said something about it calling to him and that was about when Tay went through a weird spacey phase. Whenever someone pointed out his spaceyness, he'd blame it on some 'spell' Becky did on him.
When they finally arrived at the lodge they were staying at, Tay got out, sniffed around and took off toward the woods. Jason followed and Brenda sighed, saying she'd check them in. She told Izzy she might as well stick with her father and went after them. When she caught up with Jason, they were near a large campground and Tay, somehow, had wandered into a camp that didn't seem like anyone was there, but soon, as we tried to coax Tay back out of it, we realized a family of gators were staying there and were sleeping!
"taylor! taylor! get- get over here now!" Jason hissed at his son. Izzy didn't hear him as angry as that much. Tay turned around and looked blankly back at him.
"No, I gotta..." he said.
"shut the fff-! keep your voice down! Whisper!"
"hold up..." Tay said, still tiptoeing toward one of the tents! Jason wiped his face in anger and nerves. Izzy couldn't stop watching the train wreck, as usual with Tay. The dingo boy snuck up to the tent and got down on all fours- crawling inside!
"oh, god, what's he..." Jason muttered before Tay finally emerged, carrying something. "oh, man, he's stealing stuff. tay! get back here now!" Jason whispered harshly. Tay stood up and was carrying a well-torn, well-loved plush doll looking like a pink poodle or something. Certainly not a walrus. And he was taking it away! "tay-lor! what are you doing?! put that back!" Tay looked up at Jason and smiled, holding his 'prize' up.
"I'll call him 'Sheddie!'"
"that's not a name! put it down right now and come back this instant!"
"But, Dad, I gotta-"
"PAAAPAAAAA!!" The little one screamed.
"What the hell?!" a gruff voice boomed from the tent. Tay's ears went up in alert and he bolted- FURTHER INTO THE CAMPSITE!!!
"Taylor, what're you doing?! RUN THIS WAY!" Jason yelled. A large gator stood out from the tent, torn jean shorts and an open shirt. He looked angry, but also ready for a fight. And he was staring directly at Jason.
Hours later, a park ranger named Gary was visiting the McIntosh room at the lodge, talking to Tay and telling Jason they're lucky that family wasn't willing to press charges.
As Izzy swam alongside Jules, watching the teen group gather at an inlet to the side of the river where a rope swing hung from a tall tree, she giggled a bit from her memories. Tay always was a source of entertainment, if not constant worry.
"psst..." Izzy heard, ears perking. She looked to the side of the river to see a similar set of ears poking past some bushes. She tapped Jules on the shoulder.
"wait up, tay's..."
"tay's what?" Jules asked, halting her swimming to look at Izzy, who swam up to the bush.
"you almost got beaten up again, tay!" Izzy scolded. Tay's face emerged, already shooting the teen group a dirty look, ears lowered.
"they're all total asshats..." he rasped.
"tay, you're the asshat for not looking where you're throwing your dumb self!" Izzy replied. Tay flipped his look to his sister, eyes wide and ears up. Then, just as soon, he lowered them again and grinned wide.
"i gots something for 'em!" he said, dropping down again.
"ugh, tay, what do you have now?" Izzy asked. Silence. Did he scurry off? She heard a noise near another bush and swam over. Tay was struggling with something, something heavy. Something black like a block.
"izzy, help me with this. i gotta throw it in the water." Tay groaned just as Izzy recognized the object.
"tay, is that a car battery?!" Izzy squeaked. Tay held it just up to his hips, arms shaking, sharp determination on the boy's face.
"yeaheheheeeeeh! imma throw it in the water without the cinderblock and rope!"
"where'd you get that?!"
"cotter found it in a dumpster nearby. he's resourceful!" Tay said, wincing and laughing under his breath. Izzy saw something drip and first thought it was from being in the water, but then Tay's hair wasn't that wet. She looked under the shaking battery to see Tay's finger fur was burnt and there was a sizzling sound.
"tay! there's acid leaking out of it! it's burning you!" she said, swimming back a little. Tay winced and looked down, shrugging.
"meh, it's for a good cause." He said.
"you can't just kill all the fish, tay!"
"i'm not! i'm gonna zap those assholes that picked on me back there!"
"they didn't pick on you! you jumped on one of them, idiot!"
"well... they'll pay! and so will all the fish! it's for a good cause, izzy!"
"killing all the fish is not a good cause!"
"counting them is! it's what the park does!"
"you are not a park ranger!" In the midst of their whispery argument, Jules' voice stood out.
"Nope, but there's one though!" the roo said. Izzy looked at her friend, who pointed out a tall man in uniform standing behind Tay.",
