Chapter 5
Silver laid on the sidewalk passed out. Over him stood Evan and Kevin both panting hard and gasping for air. Around them the street had a few cars on fire and scorch marks were everywhere. A few building structures were also on fire. Fire crews were putting out the blazes but no one was paying attention to the passed out silver lying on the pavement.
“he was a tough one Ev”
“yea he was Kev”
“I knew he was skilled but damn man he really pushed us”
“good news is he is probably the most skilled on his squad but I would say they are way more than threat now.”
“we should report this to the boss” Kevin said finally catching his breath and reaching in his shorts pocket for a cell phone 
“I don’t think I could’ve taken him alone”
“neither do I”
“well lets grab him and go” 
“ok I will call the boss you get some officers to carry him to warehouse 19”
“deal” Evan made his way over to a police car and ordered the officers to take the unconscious Silver to their interrogation warehouse
Kevin dialed grey’s number and waited for him to answer
“hello Kevin, why have you disturbed my relaxation”
“we just caught a member of squad C boss”
“which one?”
“Silver”
“good now what do you plan on doing with him?”
“he followed us for a reason I want to know what it is and maybe he knows where Charles is”
“don’t worry about Charles, Dexter is currently on his way to retrieve him.”
“you found him?”
“yes, a little birdie told me where he was”
“… ok then we shall get the insight on Squad C’s powers. Since we got surprised by them today”
“I thought you captured Silver? How did they surprise you?”
“silver was strong he pushed me Evan to our limits before we final took him down, and one of the others has the ability to create ice which he used to defend against Evan’s lighting”
“I have underestimated Squad C, I never expected them to already make so much progress. I order you to report any relevant information you get from Silver back to me”
“yes sir”
“now I have some business with the person who spied on our meeting today”
“you have him sir?”
“I have her, she is an interesting specimen. I will interrogate her myself you should work on getting as much information out of Silver as possible. Dismissed”
“yes sir” Kevin said hanging up the phone
“Ev we got our orders to get as much information as we can from that wolf”
“OK, anymore orders? How about finding Charles?”
“The boss man has the girl who took down Charles in his custody. Dexter is on his way to rescue him”
“he never disappoints, shall we go then?”
“let’s”
The 2 entered the police car and it took off towards the pier
Elsewhere at Hollywood tower
Grey was sitting on the couch of his apartment. It took up the entire floor and a stunning view. Even more remarkable is that he alone lived there. Normally it would be him alone but tied up never to him on the floor lay Kate in her Masked Cat outfit without her bandana on
“I really wonder how you managed to get the drop on Charles and impersonate him so well”
Kate’s response was censored by the piece of cloth that was tied around her mouth
“ no matter now I will get all the information I need in time. And we have plenty of time since no one will notice you missing”
Kate just struggled helplessly if she could only get her paws loose she could emit her dust and free herself
“struggle all you want no one is coming to save you” 
Meanwhile unbeknownst to Grey, Ben had gotten another vision this time it was clearer than ever before.
They were already home in the garage when he got the vision. Chondro, Ryker and Rintin had already entered the house.
“what did you see this time ben?”  
“I saw Kate being held hostage at Hollywood tower. The highest floor. And I saw Silver being held in warehouse 19 in the Cargo shipyard!”
“are you sure?”
“positive! Nico I have got no time to wait I have to get going or Kate may die”
“too dangerous Ben we should get your parents before heading out on some crazy rescue mission”
“Nico there is no time They have been captured by that other squad that operates here”
“even more reason not to rush into this! Ben if they were powerful enough to capture silver what makes you think you have a chance by yourself”
“Because he is not going alone”
Ben and Nico looked at the door and Saw Chondro with Ben’s sword in hand and behind him came Rintin and Ryker.
“He is right Nico there is no time to lose right masked munk?”
“Kate has been my sidekick for over 2 years now I just didn’t recognize her without her costume. She sent out a distress call recently.”
“You kids are going to get hurt badly if you do this”
“maybe Nico but we have to go” ben said while taking his sword from Chondro
“there are tunnels underneath my house we can use those to get where we need to go quickly” RIntin said while beginning the sprint to his house
Nico just looked as the cubs ran out of the garage
‘Such hot headed kids! I better get Bruce fast’
Nico entered the house and made his way to Bruce’s office where everyone was still talking things over the same way he had left them.
“Bruce, Marie we have a situation!”
“What is it Nico? Was that disappearance something serious?” Bruce asked raising an eyebrow to Nico
“I can’t answer that yet but while picking up the cubs we were attacked by a member of that other squad”
“are the kids alright?” Marie asked getting up out of her chair
“for the moment most of them are but they won’t be for long. The fox ran away after a few displays of his power. Silver snuck off and followed him.  ”
“that idiot” Bruce exclaimed
“It gets worse. Ben just got a vision of his friend Kate being held hostage at Hollywood tower and Silver being held at warehouse 19 in cargo shipyard”
“Wait they got Kate? And Silver?”
“yes, Marie Ben and the others ran off to rescue them. We have to catch up to them before they get themselves killed!”
“Mother Father we will have to continue our discussion at a later time I have my kids to go save”
“we understand. Go get them” Bruce’s Father said
With that Nico, Greg, Marie and Bruce left the room
“Marie wait, we are going to need a few ‘gadgets’”
“Gadgets? Bruce why do I think I am about to be disturbed beyond anything I could have imagined”
“Because you are” Bruce lead her and Nico down the hall to his lab
15 minutes later Ben and Chondro had arrived at Hollywood towers. They had separated from Rintin and Ryker so that they could rescue the both Kate and Silver at the same time.
As they entered the building Ben told Chondro to head to the basement while he went to the top floor. Ben entered the elevator going up as Chondro went down.
Chondro arrived at the basement but something was seriously wrong about the room. A sparkling white dust covered the room and there seem to be a strange light source coming from the back of the room. As Chondro made his way over the box and crate filled room he saw it.
“What the heck is that!?” Chondro saw a White tree with strange glowing leaves the Tree trunk was luminescent white. The most peculiar thing was that on the tree trunk was the craving of a face. A feline it looked like a feline but Chondro couldn’t make ouch much else from this distant so he tried to get closer only to be stopped by a staff with a knife edge striking down.
“what the heck! Who is there?”
“You have entered the realm of no return” Came a voice from the mist
“You have entered the realm of no hope” another voice said
Then falling down in front of him were 2 Siamese cats dressed in bikini’s and high heels. They both had a staff in their hand with knife like edges at the tips.
“who are you?”
“We are the Twin guardians of this tree, No one but approved Cantonole members are allowed near this tree” they said in unison 
“I am Sh’e”
“I am Sh’a”
“and you will die at our hands” the twins kept talking in unison
Chondro hardened his fur 
“sorry but I don’t plan on dying any time soon.”
“You have no choice in the matter we shall end your existence now”
The 2 cats leapt at Chondro 1 went high the other went low
The one in the air swung her staff at Chondro’s head. Instinctively he dodged it by ducking but when he did the other cat swung her staff at his feet.
Chondro took the hit with his hardened fur but to his surprise the end of the staff had pierced his fur. Chondro jumped back and looked at his left foot where the staff had slashed him. Not a deep wound but when his fur is hard as steel it takes a lot of force to break through it.
“I guess you are tougher than we thought. A normal fur would have lost their legs from that attack”
“I am not a normal fur I am a Catonole assassin”
“DO you think that scares us boy. You are just a rookie assassin we on the other hand are warrior level assassins. Your skills do not compare to ours”
“Sorry I don’t know much about the ranks of the cantonole but what I do know is that you’re getting in my way” Chondro charged forward and swung his fist at Sh’a who jumped out of the way easily. From behind him Sh’e swung her staff and slashed Chondro’s back, his iron was protecting him but once again he found himself with a light wound stretching down his back.
Chondro turned around and jumped at sh’e; the cat just smiled, Chondro had fallen into their trap. Before he knew it both cats pointed their staff’s at him and shot a silver beam from the tip. Chondro got trapped in the middle as both beams grazed on either side of him. He fell to the floor on his back and bounced a bit before settling on his stomach. He coughed up a little blood.
‘that attack was not even their best attack yet it did so much damage. How are they passing through my defense?’
“have you resigned to your fate. Those who enter this room and seek out the tree will be met with their demise”
‘I hate that they keep talking together but if I don’t do something quick I am a goner. Think! what would work against these 2.’
Chondro got to his knees and then stood up still looking a bit wobbly.
‘I guess I have only one option left I just hope it doesn’t bring the house down’
Chondro put his paws together while they made a strange sound and started vibrating together
“whatever you try is useless we shall end your existence now” the 2 cats said jumping towards Chondro whose eyes where closed trying to focus
As the 2 cats edged closer they got into range and swung their staffs at Chondro’s neck
As they approached Chondro opened his eyes
“TAKE THIS! SONIC BOMB!”
Chondro then released his hands and clapped them together released a sonic shockwave throughout the room. The force was so strong it blew back both cats into the wall along with a few boxes and crates that lined the basement floor. Chondro smiled he thought that did the trick but he was wrong.
Sh’e was quick to get up since she landed softer than sh’a did
“You insolent little fool. You have now resigned yourself to a painful death”
Sh’e rushed in without thinking as Chondro just readied himself
She swung her staff at Chondro straight was his chest this time but Chondro defended himself with his paw and as her staff hit it broke into pieces.
“I am not falling for that trick again. I wondered how you kept injuring me and then I realized something my fur around the wounds has not as hard as it normally is. Your staff has the ability to weaken objects making them easier to pierce.”
“how did you figure that out from a few strikes?”
“training! I was trained personally by the Cantonole boss. He taught me how to identify techniques. I am guessing your attire is also part of your attack. Any grown man would have been a bit distracted by your bodies and would have never figured out your technique. Your technique can also weaken weapons too can’t it.”
“you saying that our bodies didn’t distract you?”
“oh please you look like you’re at least 40”
“40!”
Sh’e snapped and leapt at Chondro with her bare hands. She punched Chondro in the jaw but chondro didn’t even flinch. Sh’e came away shaking her hands.
“iron level hardness!  You must be Chondro then! The only Non-wolf who can use that technique!”
“yep that is me and it is about time I finished this”
Sh’a had finally recovered from the attack and quickly recovered her staff.
Chondro had boxed his paws into fists and made a charge at Sh’e
“oh no you don’t” Sh’a said rushing back to protect Sh’e
“Oh yes I do” Chondro punched at Sh’e but was intercepted by Sh’a’s staff
The staff upon impact began to crack in different locations and eventually broke apart
“what is this!?”
“my sonic fur is a compliment of my iron fur. I can make it vibrate and resonate to create sonic pulses.”
“Sister we are in trouble” sh’a said panicking
“I agree sister”
“I third that” Chondro ran forward and punched Sh’a in the face sending her flying back into the wall cracking it with the force of the impact”
“SH’A” sh’e screamed before turning around and receiving a punch herself.
Both cats lied helplessly to the back of the room knocked out and from the looks of it they might stay that way for some time.
“whew that was a…”
Chondro fell to his knees panting hard.
“I guess I am still  not ready to use my sonic powers yet my body still can’t take it” Chondro said falling over and passing out.
Upstairs however Ben had just felt the shockwave that Chondro made.
‘I hope Chondro is okay’
Ben thought while approaching a door on the highest floor. He had to take out a few regular security guards to get to the door.
“here goes nothing” he said as he turned the knob and opened the door.
To his surprise the door was unlocked. He walked in and approached grey who was just sitting on the couch watching TV.
“So you must be Ben?”
“and you must be one of Mark’s sons”
“I am his youngest son Grey”
“I would say good to meet you grey but I didn’t come here under happy circumstances”
“I suppose you came for her” Grey pointed to a tied up Kate still lying on the flooring 
“I am here for her and I am not leaving without her” ben drew his sword from its sheathe and pointed it at Grey
“you sure you want to fight? Can’t your foreseen show you how the battle would end?”
“I pretty sure your foreseen has shown you how a battle between us will end.”
“it has and I must say I don’t like the consequences of it. I could defeat and kill you handily but I think you are more use to me alive then dead.”
”then what shall we do”
“you can have her back I don’t need her anymore I already have the answers I need” Grey snapped his fingers and the bondage around Kate disappeared. Ben rushed over to her seeing she was injured a bit but other than that she was A-Okay”
 “Take and leave before I change my mind about letting you leave here in one piece”
Ben nodded and put Kate’s arm around his shoulder and helped her out of the apartment.
“one last thing Ben! You may be a worthy opponent in the future. When you are strong enough to fight me come back here and we will see if your even worthy of leading that squad”
“I am not worthy of leading it. I never choose to be leader Grandpa made that decision for me. I am only in this contest because if we can win the Cantonole will leave us all alone”
“you think that you can walk away from the Cantonole so easily. Those who manage to leave end up limping away if they weren’t killed”
“that may be true but there is one other reason I choose to enter this! If I become the heir to the Cantonole I can dismantle it”
“I think that you must have been dreaming when you thought that. Your squad cannot win this contest. All the other squads have been training their whole lives for this. Your squad has only 1 year to fully train itself.”
“we may be at a disadvantage but I think we still have a shot at it. Silver and Chondro were training a long time and So has Rintin. You shouldn’t underestimate us”
“I am pretty sure Chondro is dead or least about to die. He went to the basement did he not?”
“yes he did”
“my associates down there should have taken him down already”
“you might want to check again because Chondro is very much alive”
Grey closed his eyes and tried to view the basement he was stunned to see the Cat sisters knocked out while Chondro had just fallen down
“I see I did underestimate his skills”
“I knew he wouldn’t be beaten by anyone that easily”
“I suspect further conflicts between us will occur before the contest”
“probably why grandpa stationed both of our squads here”
“the 2 weakest will constantly test each other to see who is stronger”
“I still don’t know what you’re planning or why your letting me go if you could kill me that easily”
“I am letting you go because the Red violet is on her way here. Even if you’re weak you still are a Cantonole it would take a good bit of energy to defeat and then I would not be able to handle her”
“afraid of my mom?”
“afraid of facing her under the wrong conditions”
“I guess she is still feared throughout the Cantonole”
“only by those lower than Knight level”
“Knight level?”
“that girl will probably explain more to you. I have to go now I have a few errands to run. Goodbye Ben I hope we can fight without interference sometime soon”
Grey slowly passed through the floor and disappeared
‘Great! What have I gotten us into? He can pass through floors that won’t be easy ability to deal with’
Ben opened to the door to the apartment and made his way to the elevator. Once he hit bottom floor he saw a sleeping Chondro leaned against the receptionist desk.
‘why is no one helping him? Do they not even notice?’
“BEN!” Ben turned to see his mom followed by Nico
“I was worried sick. When we get home you and your brothers are in so much trouble”
“sorry mom I had to come get Kate, I don’t know how she got involved in this in the first place”
“Ben, truth is Silver and I already knew she had to be involved somehow”
“you knew? How?”
“there were 6 files in that folder Silver brought home. Kate’s profile was on the 6th and her being here means she has probably been involved for a long time”
“I … have” Kate muttered
“Kate, I guess you now owe me an explanation.”
“I have Chondro he is passed out. Let’s get back to the house I have already alerted the medical staff” Nico said holding the sleeping Chondro on his back.
The group went out and got into the car Marie and Nico took and drove off towards home.
At the pier Rintin and Ryker were stealth fully trying to reach Silver. He was being held at the back of Warehouse 19 in an interrogation room. Outside the room Evan and Kevin were talking while Rintin and Ryker listened in from behind a crate.
“ev, I can hypnotize him if you get him in the right state of mind”
“ I don’t know. This seems like a long shot I mean he is probably resistant to the mind control what makes you think he can be hypnotized”
“because unlike the mind control technique’s mine is temporary and hypnosis works on anyone who is open to suggestion. If we can get him to start taking suggestions from you and me I can put him under my powers in no time”
“okay I will give it a shot”
“sweet! Then we can yiff him!”
“… remember the boss’s orders no sex mixed with work”
“you’re no fun”
“I am all for it but this is not the time. How about after we round up some bodybuilders and have some fun at your house”
“sounds like a sweet deal to me” With that Kevin and Evan entered the room again trying to get Silver to talk.
From behind the crate Rintin poked his head out
“that was one… interesting conversation.”
“more like disturbing”
“rin how are we going to get silver?”
“I have plan. But it’s going to depend on whether or not you can use your powers properly”
“I got the basic use of them down by now”
“well if you can distract one of them I can get behind and use my shadow binding to immobilize him for a while it would then be a matter of how we get the next one”
“so how are we going to do this?”
“simple we wait for one of them to come out then you distract them for a few seconds while I hide in that shadow right there. Wait until they get just a little away from the glass and draw him out so his shadow is not connected to the one I am hiding in.”
“okay let’s do it”
Rintin and Ryker setup their plan to get the first person to exit the room. Soon Kevin would leave the room and stand near the glass. Aon cue Ryker came out from hiding and approached the otter
“hey!”
Kevin turned to see Ryker standing there his right paw already emitting the icy mist
“should’ve have known Silver wasn’t alone”
“I can’t believe you managed to beat him but you can’t beat me”
“oh can’t I?” Kevin said approaching Ryker. His fire tattoo began glowing and a small flame appeared in front his left eye
‘perfect’
“you should have never come here alone after you saw us capture silver”
“who said I was alone” Rintin made his move from in the shadow of wall behind Kevin
“what the?” 
“shadow binding” Rintin said as he stabbed Kevin’s shadow. The shadow then began to wiggle around and make its way to Kevin. Before he could react the shadow shrouded him and he fell to the ground passed out.
“one down.”
“Rin let me handle this I have an idea”
Rintin went to the door to the interrogation room swung it open startling Evan in the process
“ready for a rematch?”
“How did you get in here? Where is Kevin?”
“I already took care of him now I am going to take care of you”
“let’s see you try it? All you could do was lay on the ground while that ice guy did all the work”
“well let me show you what I can do then” rintin formed his shadow into a whip and lashed it out at Evan. Evan evaded the whip but in the process his paw touched the glass window. He tried to retaliate but his paw was stuck to the glass. 
“what the?” Evan tried freeing himself from the ice that froze his paw to the glass but no luck. Instead the ice began to encase him further. He tried to spark his right hand but it was not working the ice was building too fast
Rintin just smiled
“I never said the rematch was with me” RIntin used his sword to untie Silver and help him up and out of the room
“get back here you coward”
“nah I got friends waiting on me so later” Rintin just waved and walked off 
Outside the glass Ryker had just finished freezing Evan as much as he could
“that should hold him for a few minutes”
“help me with him we have to get back to the tunnels before they are able to move again”
“alright”
Ryker and Rintin carried Silver over their shoulders moving as fast as they could but only 3 minutes after they had left warehouse 19 a bolt of electricity struck right behind sending them to the ground.
“Dang it I thought my ice would last longer than that”
“we’re in trouble my shadows can’t block his attacks only your ice can”
“I can manage to block but we can’t afford to waste time remember”
“of course I remember my shadow will only last for 10 more minutes”
“What are going to do” The pair watched as Evan closed in enraged and charging his right hand. He was about to shoot another lightning bolt at Rintin and Ryker. 
A wind gust came out of nowhere and blew Evan into the sea. The kids brought turned around to see Bruce running towards with his sword out.
“You kids are morons!” Bruce said smacking both Rintin and Ryker over the head.
Bruce picked up Silver and threw him over his back. “you 3 are in so much trouble when we get home!” as they started to head towards the gate to the docks another bolt of lightning landed in front of them.
“that kid doesn’t go away does he” Bruce said Drawing his sword. With silver on his back he couldn’t use his skills to their fullest so he let his ‘partner’ do his thing
“NOW Greg”
“roger that” Greg answered from the roof of warehouse 2 he had a Canon in hand with some hi-tech visors.
“take this” the canon shot a missile at Evan that exploded on impact. Erupting from the explosion was sod.
“Direct hit”
“good aim there Greg”
“I ain’t that old yet”
“that sod should prevent him from use his lighting powers”
At that time Evan emerged covered in sod trying to get his paw to spark with no luck.
“DAMN IT, How dare I let them do this to me”
“Calm down kid. You aren’t dying we just negated your shocking powers a bit”
Evan looked up and stared at the fox and realized something
“You. Are you related to Nico?”
“I am, why do you care?”
“I am going to kill that bastard for what he did to me and my mother!”
“What did Nico do to you?” Bruce asked as he enclosed on the young boy
“He works for you doesn’t he? Then as far as I am concerned you are just as responsible?”
“He works for me alright but he is also my best friend and I have never known Nico to hurt someone who didn’t deserve it”
“I didn’t deserve to be left alone with a Sicken mother as a baby. I didn’t deserve to have to watch my mother die from a preventable disease. I didn’t deserve to watch my entire village die because my Father Nico decided to leave me there and never look back!’
“Nico is your father?”
“he is! And he left me and mom alone to run off and save some friend of his and he never ever returned!”
Greg was questioning whether Evan was telling the truth or not but there was a bit resemblance of Nico in the fox but he had one way to be sure.
“I have known Nico for more than 30 years. He would never abandon anyone close to him. Especially not his son.” Bruce said getting closer to Evan as he did he now stood right in front of him and he could see the tears of
Evan had calmed down he was now more saddened than enraged.
“Whether you believe or not he abandoned me and my mom in that place. I want to make him pay for what he did”
“young man, If you are telling the truth about Nico being your father then show me you’re your stomach”
Evan moved his jacket out of the way and lifted his shirt up.
“Bruce I am afraid he is telling the truth. That birth mark next to his belly button is mutation our family has. Every male in our family has that mark on part of their body.”
“Greg your telling me Nico really abandoned his son? I can’t believe that”
“I could but there has to be some reason for it”
“should we bring him along and find out?”
“I am disappointed in you Evan!” a voice said coming from the ground
It was Grey. He was coming out of the ground in a similar fashion as how he went into the floor after talking to Ben.
“Boss!”
“you let your emotions out and they got the better of you. You started saying some unnecessary things Evan”
“I… I… I am sorry boss I couldn’t help myself”
“Good now let us go we have some business matters to attend to”
The kids Bruce and Greg watched as both Evan and Grey sunk back into the ground.
“goodbye squad C” was the final words the group heard before Evan and Grey completely disappeared.
“that was weird” Ryker said looking on with a curious look on his face
“I agree. That was very weird and who was that wolf?” Rintin asked
“I am guessing the leader of the other squad. C’mon boys the medical team is waiting for him and I still have to punish you for running out here without thinking.”
The boys just gulped and made their way to the car that was waiting outside the docks.
The kids and their parents along with Nico and his dad were still en route to their house when Grey had remerged in his apartment with Kevin and Evan in tow.
“you 2 should be ashamed of yourselves being fooled by two amateurs”
“sorry boss” Evan said still trying to hold back his tears
Kevin just stood silent
“Evan it is about time you told me the full story about your father”
“yes boss”
“go on”
“It started when my mom met my dad at a cultural festival. Nico was searching for a scientist who had taken refuge in my home country. The scientist was my grandfather. He developed some genetic Mutating Chemical that got him labeled a mad scientist. He was chased from the country because of it. He set up a new research study studying the plants around my village. His daughter was helping to do so. Nico found him and asked him for something called the YY phenomenon. My grandfather was furious that Nico would track him down over a project that was scrapped years ago. Or so he wanted people to believe.”
“what is project YY?” Kevin asked finally breaking his silence
“let me start when Nico approached my grandfather”

“are you insane!? What makes you think I have continued that project” said an elderly Fox he wore a wore out lab coat and glasses
“Because my Intel says you have continued it”
“well your intel is wrong, I have do not have the resources to manage that project again.”
“I am aware of your connection to the Cantonole family! They sure have the resources to manage that project”
“are you accusing me of working with that Crime family? You need to leave NOW”
“I will leave but I will be back.”
Nico left the compound it was heavily secured but somehow Nico got in.
The scientist looked on as Nico left the compound.
“If that fox ever gets back in here I will fire every one of you”
“yes sir” the guards answered from behind the scientist 
“dad you should at least hear him out he sounded like he wanted to be a part of it” his daughter said as she walked to his side
“Young lady do not tell me what to do. I am quite worried about him how did he find out about project YY?”
“I know how! He said he was investigating the Cantonole and he just needs an angle to get in”
“how did he even know about my connections to the Cantonole”
“shall I find out?”
“go my dear”
“yes father” The young vixen left to follow Nico
5 hours later at a bar on the town. Nico was approached by the Doctors daughter
“you should’ve known better Nico, he wouldn’t just give into you like that”
“but he is my best shot at finding out a few things”
“is it about Bruce?”
“Yes Nikki it is about him”
“I know how much he means to you nico wish I could help you more but my father is a stubborn old goat”
“I thought bringing up that project was good idea to earn his trust but I guess I came off wrong. Still getting the hang of this” Nico took a sip of his drink

“Nico I know your really loyal to your friend but is he worth all this effort?”

Nikki and Nico kissed each other passionately
“I will do everything in my power to help my fiancé”
“I wonder how your father will take it when finds out we are getting married”

10 months later Nico once again approached Nikki’s father about project YY
“What brings you back here!”
“Same reason I came before I need access to project YY”
“I told you that project died years ago.” The scientist was on edge this time and looked more nervous than before
“I would leave if that were true”
“Nico! Stop playing these games. I have known your real intentions for months now”
“then why hide it?”
“Nico! Project YY was a mistake that should have never made it past the planning stages. It is too late they already choose the first subject.”
“wait did they already target Bruce?”
“Bruce was never the target of Project YY. His kid however are being targeted by the Cantonole version Project H”
“his kid?” 
“yes from what I know Bruce and Marie are expecting their first child in 4 weeks. Project H has already made their move”
“I have to find Bruce.”
“Nico! Get your priorities straight your own son was just born 2 weeks ago! Are you going to run across the world to try and save your friend or are you going to protect your own family?”
“what do you mean protect my family?”
“Nico you have been my son-in-law for 4 months now. When you first approached me about the project I knew what you were and I knew you were perfect.”
“perfect for what?”
“Nico your son is the result of project YY. He is not a normal boy”
“Yata WHAT DID YOU DO!”
“Nico I used you as a specimen for Project YY. The boss of the Cantonole gave me a second chance when my project went south. They supplied the funds needed to complete my research. I only needed one last thing; an infant who had a mutation I could exploit”
“my family birth mark?”
“yes I discovered it in my daughters journal. I knew that you were perfect; I extracted that mutation from your blood when you started dating my daughter”
“why are you telling me this” 
Yata removed a gun from his belt
“Nico sometimes scientist realize how dangerous their work is too late. This is one of those times.”
“are you going to shoot me?”
“yes but not to kill you”
“what are you going to do”
“Change your memories! So that you don’t remember your time here this past year”
“Yata wait!”
“I am truly sorry Nico. I wish I didn’t involve you in this”
Yata aimed the gun at Nico
He pulled the trigger but nothing happened 
“some kind of Joke yata?”
“no. someone removed the memory altering bullet from the gun”
“I did father.”
“Nikki why did you stop me?”
“Nico deserves to at least remember the kid father. Even if you are going the baby”
Nico eyes grew wide and leapt at Yata he never before lost his cool
“Yata! That boy is living being you have no right to kill him”
“Nico! That boy is my creation, a creation that the Cantonole will use as a weapon!”
“why did you do it then. If you knew they were going to just use him as a weapon”
“I was blinded by my project. Nico if that boy lives he could pose the biggest threat to all of fur kind.”
“what makes that boy so dangerous?”
“Nico that boy is a super mutant. An immune system that targets all external viruses a brain that never goes bad. A life expectancy of over 200 years. And his body will stay youthful for nearly 4 times longer than normal”
“what is so bad about that?”
“that is what I wanted from the project but I had no idea that the Cantonole had also infused their own genetic drugs into him. He is now primed to be a Cantonole assassin. One that can endured more injuries have more energy than normal and I am sure they used my research for other purposes.”
“Dad! We can save him from the Cantonole!”
“we can’t they will come for him and he will be their super solider one that a normal fur can never hope to defeat.”
“yata I have a proposal.”
“huh” both Nikki and yata said in unison
“You can run from the Cantonole. Erase my memory of your family make it seem that you died because I burned down the house and attacked you. Replace my memories with fakes so I never come to see you. When I setup a safe haven from the Cantonole make it so my memories come back and I can find you”
“deal but how will you deal with the Cantonole?”
“I have been studying under you for months now on how they operate and how to avoid them”
“then Nico before you go then here. This is the detail of an upcoming Cantonole mission. It dictates how you should stop Bruce’s kids from being taken from him.” Yata handed him a folder
“this mission! It starts in 3 days how can I stop it in time?”
“I am afraid I can’t help you further. Nico they are almost here we must do this quickly”
15 minutes later some Cantonole representatives arrived at the compound and found it in flames but what they saw stunned them.
“That is the scientist” one of the representatives said
Yata was in front of the house on fire himself. He had lit himself on fire to help sell the cover.
6 years later in a small village in a remote area. A young Evan was crying over his mother’s dead body. When a figure approached him the boss of the Cantonole.
“what do you want?” asked a very emotional Evan
“I am here to help you”
“help me do what? Bring my mom back? No one can comeback once they die. Everyone in the village died. Why was I the only one who lived?”
“that is because your father abandoned you. He could have saved you and mother but instead he choose to throw you and mother out into this remote village to save himself.”
“my mom said my father would return one day. She always said that he would come save us but he never came”
“because he doesn’t care about you. If he did why would he leave you here to rot with the smell of dead bodies.”
“why would he be so heartless.” The boss just shrugged 
“I know it is no consolation for your mother but come with me and I shall give you a home and the skills to take revenge on your father. Will you accept my offer?”
“I get to make him feel the pain of my mom?”
“yes”
“I accept. My name is Evan what is yours?”
“everyone calls me The boss but my name is Victor Cantonole”
“nice to meet you victor”
“nice to meet you too evan. Shall we go the sent around here is horribly suffocating.”
“ok. Goodbye mom” Evan left with the boss and followed him to an airfield where they were flown to the Cantonole main compound. As their plane left another arrived and getting out of it was a frantic Nico
‘please please let me not be too late!’ Nico thought to himself as he rushed to the village. What he found what his worst nightmare. She was dead already and the boy was nowhere to be found.
‘where did that boy go he couldn’t have died from this epidemic. Where did that boy run off too’
“Sir all bodies are accounted for here” said Nico’s tour guide
“that is impossible, there should be one living fox kit here around 6 years of age”
“well I think he may have run away into the forest.”
“then I guess I have to search for him”
“that would be impossible sir”
“I have no choice. My son is still alive”

Evan was being cuddled by Kevin as he cried. Grey just stood over them he had a nice smile on his face. He had done his job; getting Evan to let out his emotions around Kevin and send a message to a certain blue wolf that would sort this problem out.
“Evan it was about time you let that all-out”
“I feel a little better boss.”
“I needed you to get in contact with your feelings or they might have overcome you again. I am fairly certain that the issue with your father will be resolved soon”
“thanks boss” Evan just snuggled up closer to Kevin
‘for all his tough acting he is just as fragile as Kevin. They needed this. They both need their true feelings to come out. Or their full power will not be reached. Kevin and Evan’s powers are so dependent on their emotions. Next I have to make Kevin reveal his.’
Grey smirked he now needed the last few pieces to fall into place hopefully Ben wouldn’t interfere.
However at the Minefell house.
“dang that Grey” ben swore under his breath
He was in the presence of everyone but his mother and his grandparents who tending to the injured Chondro, Silver and Kate in the medical wing. Also missing was Nico who was dealing with a personal issue in Bruce’s office.
“Ben! What the heck was that.” Greg asked sounding furious
“it was Grey he used me as a communicator to relay that conversation. “ grey had used his foreseen to relay the audio from his Conversation with Evan straight to ben’s mind where it was uncontrollably spoken through ben.
“Was that story true?”
“as far as I can tell it was all true. I think I know what Grey wants me to do and it might just be beneficial for us to do it.”
“Ben! Are you really going to do what he asked?”
“I don’t see why not I-“ Bruce slammed his fist down to the table
“Ben you will do no such thing. I will deal with Nico.”
“ok”
Bruce was about to head out when Nico entered the Dining room.
“oh sorry bruce I was just-“ Bruce punched Nico in the jaw and sent him to the floor. Everyone in the room
“Nico, I thought you were my friend. I thought I could trust you. I thought you promised me you wouldn’t sacrifice yourself or something important to you to save me”
“Bruce I never sacrificed anything that I didn’t want to”
Bruce got even angrier and punched Nico again
“NICO! YOU TELLING ME YOU WANTED TO SCARIFICE YOUR SON!”
Nico gathered himself up and came to his feet.
“how did you find out about Evan?”
“Not important now. TELL ME WHY DID YOU LEAVE YOUR SON BEHIND TO COME RESCUE ME!”
“because it was the smart thing to do. He was being targeted by the Cantonole. I had to make it look like he died.”
“then why after you saved me and Ryker didn’t you go back for him you obviously kept us safe”
“Bruce those trips I kept taking were about finding him. I went back to find them and when I did it was too late to save them I found my wife dead in a village epidemic and my son had disappeared. I searched for him in that jungle but never found him. I gave up the search. I was not like you Bruce I couldn’t keep my hopes up like that. I knew they dead and that was that. I never spoke of it because it is a part of my past and that all it is”
“I am afraid your past is about to become part of your future. Ben!”
“Nico, that fox that attacked us at the mall. His name was Evan.” Nico’s eyes went wide
“he was your son.”
