By the end of the first season, Lance had lost some weight and was doing better than ever on the court. Albany made a good gamble by picking him up. Or so they thought.
The off-season heralded a change in the rabbit's lifestyle, and not for the better. Popularity, lack of a structured schedule, and nearly an unlimited budget all took its toll, and management nearly had a fit when the rabbit showed up to sign his two-year renewal several pounds heavier than his starting weight the previous year.
Despite management's reservations, the rabbit was re-contracted, and proved that he still had skills. Unfortunately, the extra weight slowed him down, and he went from a stellar player to just an average baller. This came with a switch from starter to bench. Despite the decreased playing time, the rabbit managed to lose some of the weight by the end of the season, but his coaches were worried, with good measure.
The next off-season came with some advice: "Go easy on the snacking, and don't go overboard on the partying." The rabbit was able to hold back... for a while; but with twice as much salary as the previous year, it proved too tempting to slack off, and snack on, with the rabbit came back in even worse shape than before.
He was hardly in playing shape, but unfortunately, he was contracted, so they had to keep him on the roster, and no other team wanted such a project. Despite a strict exercise routine, the rabbit clearly wasn't sticking to his diet, and he was put in deep reserve, basically only brought out when they needed a warm body. Unlike last year, the lack of playing time compounded on his increased appetite, and not only did he not slim down, he put on even more pounds.
Needless to say, at the end of that season, he was given an ultimatum: You're off the team until you can lose the weight.
Faced with the prospect of at least a year off, Lance decided to finally go to college while he tried to work off some of the extra pounds he'd garnered. The first couple of weeks were fine, until it got around who he was and how he was disgracefully kicked off the team for blimping up. Then his life became a nightmare, as nearly everyone teased him for blowing such a wonderful opportunity. His grades started suffering, and he found it very hard to focus on anything, let alone lose the pudge around his middle, which, to his dismay, seemed to be growing still.

Fratbear didn't care about any of that. He was on a mission. This was a rare opportunity to fulfill one of his fantasies, even if the rabbit WAS a tub of lard now, he was once a pro-baller, and that was all that mattered to him. Plus, even though he was 22 or 23 or something, the kid looked like he was 16 years old, max. Bonus.
Once he heard the rabbit was having trouble with his current dorm-mates, he requested the poor bunny be transferred to a single in his dorm. (Being an RA had it's advantages.) Once the rabbit was all settled in, the bear couldn't wait to give him his "welcome gift."

After it all was said and done, the rabbit lay on the bed, confused, embarrassed, and thoroughly exhausted, but Fratbear new he'd loved it. Rabbits always did, especially the tubby ones.
He grinned at the freshman, who looked up at him with large eyes, and said "Next time, wear the jersey."
