"description": "ok, here we go, hope you all like this, take me a little time to get a decent traslation, enjoy it (pic done by @drmoreau, original pic is here: https://inkbunny.net/s/2674289\n\nTHE CANDEM ORCHID\n(101 Dalmatian Street fanfic)\n\n\nChapter 1: A frienly chat\n\n-FILE NUMBER 153, GO TO OFFICE 10!!! REPEAT, FILE NUMBER 153, GO TO OFFICE 10!!!- shouted a stocky rottweiler nurse. The Candem Town Hospital was full of many patients, the vast majority with heatstroke and dehydration, symptoms produced by a merciless heat wave that hit the city, a phenomenon known by the locals as \"the Longe Tongue Day\", in addition to the medical emergencies that were attended to daily, so all doctors were busy to provide their patients with a necessary care. It was a very hard job, but everyone did their best to get the job done. Of all the doctors, there was someone who stood out, a mature but attractive dalmatian woman with a slender figure. She was Delilah, the matriarch of the Dalmatian clan, well known to everyone in the small London town for her large speckled family, main protagonist of multiple disasters and adventures. She began working as a simple nurse, but after several years of study and effort, she managed to become a resident, earning the respect of her colleagues by showing a great professionalism and service attitude, something that was noticed that day while giving instructions and supervising other doctors in charge. However, throughout that day, something happened to the devoted dalmatian, because despite being attentive to what was happening around her, at times she seemed distracted, forgot some of the things she was doing or confused the orders she was giving, and other times she would satare into the void, totally abstracted from reality, a behavior that did not go unnoticed by the rest of her colleagues, who noticed a mood that was not the usual of the always strict but kind doctor. One of her colleagues, Charlotte, a nurse collie, decided to take matters into her own paws. She took advantage of a moment when she managed to get rid of some patients to get close to Delilah, who was reading some medical records. Discreetly, Charlotte placed herself behind her, noticing that the dalmatian’s gaze was steady on the paper, totally abstracted in her thoughts and not noticing the presence of the collie, so she touched her shoulder, causing the dalmatian startle.\n\n-AAHHH!! WHAT THE..!!! * sigh* for the love of dogs, it’s you Charlotte !!! You scare me!!\n\n-Forgive me “Delly”, i just wanted to tell you that I am going out to smoke, would you like to join me? It seems that you need a rest- asked the collie. Delilah, seeing the expression of her colleague, understood the meaning of her invitation, so she nodded silently. She put the medical records on a shelf, gave directions to her staff and they both walked out a door, heading to the hospital terrace. It´s the place where medical staff take their short breaks from their busy days, and where they can smoke without violating hospital rules. Once outside, the collie took out a pack of \"Richmond\" cigars, took one and offered the package to the her friend. At first Delilah looked reluctant, but unexpectedly she took one of the cigars and put it in her mouth. Charlotte was surprised by this, as she knew that the dalmatian was very strict about her decisión not to smoke, especially by her children, and that sudden change of attitude was something totally unusual, but she made no comment. The female collie pulled out of his pocket a silver lighter, activated it and brought the flame to her own cigar, then lit Delilah’s, and both began to smoke, observing the sky. The street noise was the usual one of all cities: car horns, engines, ambulance sirens, people walking and doing their daily life, the sound of a normal city, something that served to distract them momentarily from the busy work of the hospital. A slight wind blew, caressing the fur of the two female dogs, while their cigars were slowly consumed. After a moment of silence and an enormous puff of smoke, the collie threw the cigarette stub into the street, turning to see Delilah, who looked lost again in her thoughts. Charlotte knew it was her chance and decided to question her friend for her insual behavior.\n\n-Delly, are you ok?\n\n-Eh?......yes…...yes I am......I am well…..why……why you ask me that? - said the dalmatian, evidently uncomfortable by that questioning. Faced with this evasion, Charlotte approached the dalmatian to confront her, looking at Delilah with an expression of concern.\n\n-Listen my dear, you can’t fool me, we’ve known each other since we were puppies. We grew up in the same neighborhood, we went to the same school, I accompanied you at your wedding, I saw your children grow up, we work together, I know you better than you think, and seeing you distracted at work is not normal in you and that worries me. LOOK AT YOU!! YOU’RE SMOKING!! YOU HATE SMOKING!!! You left cigars for your family and you’re the first to reproach me for doing it!! Seriously Delilah, be honest with me and tell me what’s wrong with you, only then I can help you, or at least listen to you, l beg you, please tell me.\n\nCharlotte´s words went straight to the point, and the dalmatian could no longer hold her facade as a strong and unbreakable woman, so she lowered her gaze in shame as a sign of defeat. She held her cigar nervously and put it on her shaky lips, smoked it hard until consumed it in it´s entirety. She exhaled a huge cloud of smoke, then threw the cigarette stubt on the floor and leaned against the wall. The female dalmatian closed her eyes, sighing deeply, as she searching within her for the right words and the courage to pronounce them. She looked back at her friend with a look of sadness, her face reflected fatigue and frustration, something Charlotte noticed immediately. With bleary eyes and trembling voice, Delilah began to speak.\n\n-It’s true, you know me well, and you are not wrong Charlotte, no...... I do not feel at all well. \n\n-What happens? Is something wrong with your family? Is something wrong with your children?\n\n-No..... they are well, although sometimes.... Dylan and Dolly’s antics and the other puppies get on my nerves, but it’s not something that cannot be solved.\n\n-Do you have…….financial troubles? I don’t have much money, but I can lend you some. \n\n-I appreciate your support, but it is not a question of cash, albeit sometimes our expenses are some adjusted, but my problem is not money......... *sigh*.......... it’s Doug.\n\nCharlotte were surprised to hear those words. He met Delilah’s current husband from the day he arrived from America and settled in the Candem Fire Department. Almost immediately he began to date the dalmatian female, who had been widowed a few months ago. The collie always considered him a good choice to Delilah, after the loss of Donovan, her friend’s previous husband. She knew that he could fill that void, because he was someone caring with his wife and family, an example of responsible parenthood and that would make her happy, but when she learned that the same dalmatian male was the cause of her best friend’s sadness, it was something that worried her.\n\n-Doug? What about him? He did something to you? Perhaps.........he dared to hit you?\n\n-*Sobbing* No.... none of that, in fact...... it’s quite the opposite. You see...a month ago things were going normally: he lived with the children, he was polite and attentive with me, we even celebrated our wedding anniversary, but *sigh* since a few weeks ago, he began to act very strange, he has behaved something.... distant, it’s like..... it´s like he´s someone else. He is no longer effusive and kind as before, neither with the puppies nor with me, now he only goes to work, returns, falls asleep and leaves again, he is serious and downcast all the time, even avoids me, and when I try to talk to him, he only gives me evasives or he refuses tomtalk with me. He’s not the dog I married before, I’m...... I am very worried, i do not know what to do......... I.... I.... – Delilah wanted to continue, but it was too much and the dalmatian female broke in tears. She turned around and leaned against the wall so nobody wouldnt see her crying and not to show that deplorable spectacle to the collie. Charlotte felt bad to see her best friend devastated. With no other choice, she let the dalmatian vent for a moment and when she calmed down, she came over to hug her.\n\n-*Sob sob* Sorry Charlotte, I don’t want to overwhelm you with my problems, said the dalmatian sobbing. \n\n-You don’t have to apologize muy dear, I will always be to support you, I didn’t know that things were so bad between you both, why didn’t you tell me before?\n\n-*Sniff sniff*, I thought.... I thought I could solve this alone, i thought is only temporary, but as the days go by, this gets worse, even.... we haven’t even had.....intimacy.... I feel that..... I could lose it...... what if...... he doesn’t love me anymore.... Is it my fault? Maybe I have neglected a little and I look unattractive....... but my job, the children... for Dog´s sake, I don’t want to lose him Charlotte, I lost Donovan and I don’t want to be alone again!!!!!\n\n-Listen, don’t say that!!!! You are a beautiful, strong and confident woman!!! A lot of dogs wish to had someone like you as a wife, maybe Doug is going through something he doesn’t want to tell you, but you can’t help him until you confront him directly, you have to talk to him and dont let him go until he explains what’s going on, show him that he is not alone in this and you can help him, he must understand that he also hurts you for that uncertainty, do you understand what i´m saying?\n\nDelilah looked at her friend, The words of the collie seem to have worked, and her face reflected immense confidence, something that helped animate the heart of the troubled dalmatian, who dried her tears and rose to regain her composure. \n\n-You ….*sniff sniff*...... you’re right Charlotte, you were by my side when Donovan´s dead happened, you gave me the strength to move on, I think I can overcome this, thanks friend. \n\n-Dont mention it- said the collie smiling-, now, what do you say if we go back to tend some patients? I don’t think our colleagues can work without your \"personal touch\".\n\n-Of course, let´s go!!!! And Charlotte....... don´t think that I still approve your escapes to go out to smoke- said the dalmatian with a comically serious expression. \n\n-Come on Delly, you know this is the only way i can release my stress to attend people without losing my head.\n\n-Well, I don’t argue with that, we all deal with pressure in our own way, but I’m dont like to see my friend smoking like an industrial chimney, or a cargo truck.\n\n-Well, one moment ago you did it very naturally to you, “Delly”- said Charlotte. They looked at each other for a moment and both could not suppress a loud laugh. Once they recovered their composure, both returned to the hospital to continue their usual routine. The day was still young and many patients are waiting to be seen, but at least Delilah felt reassured, meditating on her friend’s words and waiting to finish her shift to settle her affairs.\n",

He&rsquo;s not the dog I married before, I&rsquo;m...... I am very worried, i do not know what to do......... I.... I.... &ndash; Delilah wanted to continue, but it was too much and the dalmatian female broke in tears. She turned around and leaned against the wall so nobody wouldnt see her crying and not to show that deplorable spectacle to the collie. Charlotte felt bad to see her best friend devastated. With no other choice, she let the dalmatian vent for a moment and when she calmed down, she came over to hug her.<br /><br />-*Sob sob* Sorry Charlotte, I don&rsquo;t want to overwhelm you with my problems, said the dalmatian sobbing. <br /><br />-You don&rsquo;t have to apologize muy dear, I will always be to support you, I didn&rsquo;t know that things were so bad between you both, why didn&rsquo;t you tell me before?<br /><br />-*Sniff sniff*, I thought.... I thought I could solve this alone, i thought is only temporary, but as the days go by, this gets worse, even.... we haven&rsquo;t even had.....intimacy.... I feel that..... I could lose it...... what if...... he doesn&rsquo;t love me anymore.... Is it my fault? Maybe I have neglected a little and I look unattractive....... but my job, the children... for Dog&acute;s sake, I don&rsquo;t want to lose him Charlotte, I lost Donovan and I don&rsquo;t want to be alone again!!!!!<br /><br />-Listen, don&rsquo;t say that!!!! You are a beautiful, strong and confident woman!!! A lot of dogs wish to had someone like you as a wife, maybe Doug is going through something he doesn&rsquo;t want to tell you, but you can&rsquo;t help him until you confront him directly, you have to talk to him and dont let him go until he explains what&rsquo;s going on, show him that he is not alone in this and you can help him, he must understand that he also hurts you for that uncertainty, do you understand what i&acute;m saying?<br /><br />Delilah looked at her friend, The words of the collie seem to have worked, and her face reflected immense confidence, something that helped animate the heart of the troubled dalmatian, who dried her tears and rose to regain her composure. <br /><br />-You &hellip;.*sniff sniff*...... you&rsquo;re right Charlotte, you were by my side when Donovan&acute;s dead happened, you gave me the strength to move on, I think I can overcome this, thanks friend. <br /><br />-Dont mention it- said the collie smiling-, now, what do you say if we go back to tend some patients? I don&rsquo;t think our colleagues can work without your &quot;personal touch&quot;.<br /><br />-Of course, let&acute;s go!!!! And Charlotte....... don&acute;t think that I still approve your escapes to go out to smoke- said the dalmatian with a comically serious expression. <br /><br />-Come on Delly, you know this is the only way i can release my stress to attend people without losing my head.<br /><br />-Well, I don&rsquo;t argue with that, we all deal with pressure in our own way, but I&rsquo;m dont like to see my friend smoking like an industrial chimney, or a cargo truck.<br /><br />-Well, one moment ago you did it very naturally to you, &ldquo;Delly&rdquo;- said Charlotte. They looked at each other for a moment and both could not suppress a loud laugh. Once they recovered their composure, both returned to the hospital to continue their usual routine. The day was still young and many patients are waiting to be seen, but at least Delilah felt reassured, meditating on her friend&rsquo;s words and waiting to finish her shift to settle her affairs.<br /></span>",
