Just like any ordinary person.\n\nHowever, this is exactly what makes it special, since it shows that to be a hero, you don't need superpowers like Sonic's super speed or the strength of Knuckles. Instead, it's just the desire to do what is right... And that is exactly what drives Amy through her whole story.\n\nThe first thing that I notice is Amy's reaction when the little bird crashes into her, which strikes me as a very credible reaction where Amy says something along the lines of \"Hey! Watch where you're going!\". Amy has a bit of a feisty side, like most of us... But she then notices the little bird hurt and shows concern and feels compassion for it.\n\nShe knows that currently the best option is to take the bird with someone more capable of protecting it, which happens to be Sonic. At first Sonic refuses, but Amy is not one that gives up on things easily so she continues until they both walk alongside. Then comes Zero, whom both hedgehogs try to loose by going separate ways inside Twinkle Park.\n\nUnfortunately for Amy, she gets caught and is taken prisioner to the Eggcarrier, where she is locked in a cell. When Gamma arrives and demands that the bird is handed over, Amy refuses to comply, acting in a way that resembles a mother protecting her child. I always liked this part because how despite being in an unfavorable position, Amy refuses to comply, showing her morality as a character that would never betray the trust of those that rely on her for protection, like the little bird was.\n\nThen when Gamma starts acting in a manner unusual for the typical Eggman robot, Amy realizes that there is something different about Gamma... Something that makes her see a hint of good in this mechanical being to the point where she pleads to it to set her and the bird free. Who would had guessed that this character who barely appears in Sonic CD could display this kind of traits, such as seeing the good in others, even the enemies, and latch to it to bring the best in them?\n\nFrom this point on, Amy has to make her way out of the Eggcarrier, which she achieves, only to find Sonic, Tails and Eggman, who summons Gamma to fight and provide a distraction as he flees away. Now, depending on who you play as, either Amy protects Sonic from Gamma or viceversa. Eitherway, both paths further display more about Amy, since in Gamma's story, it's the friendship that Amy bestowed upon the robot what makes it delete the directives that make it follow Eggman's orders, while in the case of Amy protecting Gamma from Sonic, it shows that despite her adoring the protagonist, she is still willing to stand up to him to stop him from doing something wrong... However, this is not a violent confrontation bur rather, Amy imploring Sonic to trust that this one robot is different, and deserves to be spared. Amy IMO is a character that cares more about helping others, no matterwhat side are they on, and wish we could see more of her feeling empathy for bad guys who just happened to have fallen into the dark side because of unfortunate circumstances, and help them return to the good side. Not even Sonic has ever done something like this, where instead of punishing the enemy, you help them out and find a solution that benefits all. \n\nAfter this part is over and Amy is brought back to the safety of Station Square, she discovers that the little bird that she has been protecting has family. Sonic is no longer in reach to ask him for help, nor is Tails. Seeing that there is no choice, and so much at stake, Amy decides to take the initiative, knowing the dangers that lie ahead, but still believing that things will be alright in the end. Personally,mI always thought that one reason why she does this is because how Amy once was in the same position as the bird's family, being a prisioner of Eggman and having experienced first hand what it was like... again, something that allows Amy to relate to other characters in distress in ways that Sonic just couldn't.\n\nShe infiltrates Eggman's bases and manages to get out safe and sound, though unfortunatelyshe didn't find the bird's family. However, Amy doesn't give up and returns to the Eggcarrier (or what is left after it crash lands in the sea), where she finally finds the little bird's missing family. However, their celebration is cut short when Zero launches a sneak attack that hurts the little bird. This is the moment where Amy stops running away from this robot that has stalked her and the bird for so long, and realizing that if they are to leave from there alive, she needs to overcome her fear, find courage within her just anger, and destroy Zero. \n\nUnlike Sonic and other characters who fight Eggman because of the thrills, revenge or duty, Amy is the one that, IMO, does it for the more noble reason of protecting those she cares about.\n\nWhere Sonic helps those in need and then blasts away in search of the next adventure, Amy instead does things differently as she is not afraid to make bonds with others, but helps them by doing things together, like in Sonic Heroes where she leads Cream and Big in a rescue mission to save their friends. And when I say lead, I mean her encouraging and believing in her team mates, helpingbthem realize that they are more brave and strong than they ever thought possible.","description_bbcode_parsed":"Out of the four characters from the classic era featured in Sonic Adventure, I always thought that Amy was the character that saw the most growth and development as she was re-introduced in a bigger role to a whole new era way way in the late 90's with the release of Sonic Adventure.

What I liked the most about Amy's story is how despite being an adventure of a much smaller scale than Sonic's quest to save the world from Dr. Eggman's, Amy's adventure feel much more personal, and starring what I think is the most relatable character of the franchise since, for all intents and purposes, Amy is just a kid that gets involved in situations that are way beyond her...
