TL;DR:

Gatomon wants to partner up with you, you turn her down because it feels like owning her, you get irreversibly transformed for reasons that could have been avoided if you'd had Gatomon's help, so a relatively-benevolent-but-still-pretty-smug-about-the-whole-thing Gatomon leashes you up and takes you home. This is the weirdly specific scenario that lives rent-free in my head, and probably still will despite releasing it into the world.
