The basic premise is that the wolf is the fox's college professor, and after some circumstances where she finds out that he's a pred, he ends up giving her lessons in his off-time on how to be a pred herself. Also she was going to have a hammerspace stomach (but he doesn't, as you can see.) These two would be in the New Haven City setting.
