that.\n\nfirst. lemme make it clear, vivo does for cuba, what luca does for italy. both good and bad. the movie shows a very romanticized version of havana, and yes, i know, kids movie, i get it. and yes, i know, an animated movie aimed for kids and entertainment for the family is not the place to mention the horror behind cuba's beauty, got it. but, yeah, as latino, it's kinda weird to see such a pretty, nostalgic and romantic vision of cuba, PLEASE, UNDERSTAND ME, I LOVE EACH AND EVERY SECOND OF VISULAS OF THIS MOVIE, I AM NOT GOING SJW ON IT. i just mention this, because i am sure the twitter morons and other paladins of political correctness will use that to diss the movie. but, once you get over that first kinda bad first impression, you get a very humble, simple and easy to follow story, zero existencial crap like soul (sorry, that movie's shot at philosophy and existencialism makes the matrix trilogy look like ingmar bergman's the seventh seal in comparison) and, that's my most favorite thing about VIVO, IT'S MADE TO ENTERTAIN, TO ENJOY, TO LOOK AT, PERIOD. it's not trying to change your mind or make you think about the paradigms of life (seriously, pixar needs to tone down the pretentious crap, they are not ghibli, they will never bne a subtle and precise as ghibli on giving morals, never.)\n\nOK, OK....VIVO....let's mention the good, the bad and the one ugly thing.\n\nthe good:\n\ncharacter design: i love this u.p.a. european 60s retro but not kinda character design, angular shapes mixed with curved lines, it works, the movie has a visual identity\n\ncolors: wow, i never thought a neon yellow monkey would be so nice to see, i mean, the main character is uber neon yellow, and yet, he does not bother your eyes. that's hard to do. there's a reason why there aint so many yellow characters in animation. the color palette of the movie is amazing, it feels tropical, caribeña, cuba and miami, these guys know their work. it's vibrant, but just scandalous enough to not become bothersome.\n\nGLORIA ESTEFAN: that's it, gloria estefan, singing. DEBO DECIR MAS?! the first time i heard her amazing voice, i swear i got goosebumps, THE BEST ONES, i love gloria estefan, every latino does (or must...)\n\nLIN-MANUEL MIRANDA: vivo's singing voice it gave me a certain MARC ANTHONY tone to it, amazing singing voice, and man, those lyrics, it takes real talent to sing like that, one song, ok, possible, but they guy basically sings all songs like that, the speed, the rhythm, wow. LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA, he actually wrote the songs. so, yeah.
