She breathed in then exhaled again. She repeated this exercise for five minutes. She sat up then sat down on her legs and placed her paws flat against the bed, her back straight as a board. She did her breathing exercise then arched her back a few inches and brought her upper body towards her rear and held the position for five seconds. After that she returned to the original position. After another breathing exercise she lowered her back and held it for five seconds then returned to the original position. After five minutes she sat back down on the edge of the bed and repeated her breathing exercise for two minutes.\n\t“What are you doing this for?” Lin asked quietly. She turned her head and glared at him for a moment. “Sorry,” he said. She stood up and stretched her arms out in front of her, crossing each arm over her chest to the opposite side. After doing this ten times, she moved to the table and stood two feet away, just close enough to be able to reach out and grab it. She spread her hindpaws apart by one foot and put her right arm out then leaned down slowly and tried to touch her left hindpaw. She leaned down as low as she felt was safe. She held the position for five seconds then rose back up. She repeated this with her left arm and right hindpaw. She was four minutes into the exercise when she tumbled forward towards the table. She walked through the playground and headed back to the pool, where she walked around it five times. She stopped and did her breathing exercise for one minute then walked towards the pond. She stepped on to the deck and walked out to the end. She took hold of the rail and lowered herself down to sit. After five minutes of them laying there, a gust of ice cold wind blew, it caused all of the trees to shiver for a few seconds. I’ll get the weather radio turned on,” he said and walked to one of the shelves and picked up a small radio. He moved back to the desk and turned it on. It crackled to life as a voice sounded out, talking about the tornado on the ground. He looked up at the monitors then took the mouse and clicked a menu. \t“How did the doctor appointment go?” Laraine asked.

\t“Yeah I know,” Laika replied standing up. Lin pulled the chair away and held his arm out for her. She shook her head and headed outside. After stepping out she turned around and looked at Lin following her.
\t“Alone time?” He asked.
\t“Yes,” she replied. He nodded and went back inside.

\tLaika stepped down the stairs and followed the path to the pool. She took a left turn and walked up to the upper pool section and sat on the pools rock wall and looked out over the playground. She breathed in, the cool autumn wind stung her lungs slightly. A northern wind blew suddenly and cooled the air temperature down a bit. She shivered and rubbed her arms. Even with thick fur she could feel the cold that would soon come. The weather forecasted the first snowfall to start in just two to three days. She breathed in another lungs full of air, it too stung. She stood up and headed out into the playground. She grabbed hold of a handrail and walked up the steps to the first floor of the custom built playground equipment. She turned her head and looked at the house. She shook her head when she noticed a curtain close.
\t“Lin, you silly panda,” she said quietly. The door opened up shortly after and her dad stepped out.
\t“LAIKA SKY WOLFE! What are you doing up there?” He asked.
\t“Dad. I’m just sitting. I do it everyday. Relax,” she replied loudly.
\t“You’re almost seven weeks pregnant. Get down now,” he said walking over.
\t“Fine,” she replied. She scooted back and grabbed hold of a rail and pulled herself up. She walked over to and then down the stairs. She walked over to the table and sat down. Fang walked up and sat opposite of her.
\t“Laika,” he said and shook his head, “you don’t need to be doing stuff like that. What if you were to faint or something? You fall to the ground and possibly lose your pup,”
\t“Dad, I was fine. I was leaning backwards away from the edge. If I were to pass out I’d fall backwards,” she replied.
\t“Laika, just don’t. Please don’t sit up there without someone. Please,” he begged her.
\t“Whatfuckingever,” she replied.
\t“Laika, stop with the fowl language,” he said.
\t“What are you gonna fucking do? Ground me? AGAIN?” She scoffed.
\t“What’s going on with you? This isn’t like you,” he said.
\t“I don’t know. My mood is weird and I don’t like it,” she replied.
\t“I know what it is. It’s your hormones from being pregnant. I should have seen it earlier. The mood swings come and go?” he replied.
\t“Yeah,” she replied.
\t“It will pass soon after you give birth,” he replied and placed his paw on hers and rubbed the top of her paw with his thumb.
\t“Yeah, I know. Mom and I already talked about it. How bad was her mood?” She asked.
\t“Your mom bared her teeth at me and growled a few times when she was pregnant with you. She was really scary at times. She even nearly bit me once too. I was trying to soothe her. I went to put my paw against her face, but she snapped at em. She was more scary than Uncle Quill when he’s really upset,” he replied.
\t“That is scary,” Laika replied and chuckled.

\t“Lin will you come outside please?” Laika asked speaking on her phone. A few seconds later she hung up and sat down in one of the chairs on the deck. She barely sat down when Lin rushed out.
\t“You okay?” He asked.
\t“Will you stop asking me that. It’s getting really, no, it’s already past being fucking annoying,” she replied.
\t“No. I worry because I love you. What did you want?” He asked.
\t“Sit down,” she said. He looked at her then sat down in the chair next to her.
\t“Listen to me carefully. If you don’t do as I say, I will never let you come back out when I’m out here for my alone time. Understood?” She said to him.
\t“Yes,” he replied and tilted his head.
\t“I’m going to do the stuff that I do out here. But I want you to stay on the deck. I don’t want you to talk to me. You can either stand, sit or lay down, but stay on the deck. Understood?” She said.
\t“Sh- uh yes,” he replied.
\t“Good. Stay here and just watch me, okay?” She said then stood up. She walked over to the stairs and headed down. Lin stood up and walked up behind her and sat down on the steps.
\t“Stay on the deck,” she replied turning around.
\t“I will,” he replied.

\tShe walked away towards the pool. Just like everyday she walked to the upper pool area and sat down. She breathed in and out for about ten minutes. After that she walked over to the playground and sat down on one of the swings. She held onto the chains and lifted her hindpaws and slightly kicked to start swinging just a few inches in each direction. She peered up to see Lin standing up and about to take a step down to the ground. “Sit. Down,” She said sternly and stared at him. He nodded and sat back down. She kicked her hindpaws once again and started swinging back and forth just a foot in each direction. She did this for about ten minutes before she stood up and walked away. She walked over to the playhouse then called for Lin to come over. He quickly ran over to her and stood beside her as she opened the door then stepped inside.
\t“Sit in that chair,” she said point to the chair right next to the door. She walked over to the bed and sat down. She leaned backwards and rested on her arms while she breathed in deeply then slowly exhaled. After a couple of minutes she moved into the middle of the bed and sat down on her rear with her legs stretched out in front of her. She exhaled then inhaled once more before she stretched her arms out and reached for her hindpaws claws. She wasn’t able to touch them due to her tummy but she tried her best to touch them and not hurt herself. She held the position for ten seconds then pulled back to relax again. She breathed in then exhaled again. She repeated this exercise for five minutes. She sat up then sat down on her legs and placed her paws flat against the bed, her back straight as a board. She did her breathing exercise then arched her back a few inches and brought her upper body towards her rear and held the position for five seconds. After that she returned to the original position. After another breathing exercise she lowered her back and held it for five seconds then returned to the original position. After five minutes she sat back down on the edge of the bed and repeated her breathing exercise for two minutes.
\t“What are you doing this for?” Lin asked quietly. She turned her head and glared at him for a moment. “Sorry,” he said. She stood up and stretched her arms out in front of her, crossing each arm over her chest to the opposite side. After doing this ten times, she moved to the table and stood two feet away, just close enough to be able to reach out and grab it. She spread her hindpaws apart by one foot and put her right arm out then leaned down slowly and tried to touch her left hindpaw. She leaned down as low as she felt was safe. She held the position for five seconds then rose back up. She repeated this with her left arm and right hindpaw. She was four minutes into the exercise when she tumbled forward towards the table. She threw her arms up and caught herself on the table. Lin quickly jump up and rushed up to her. She lifted herself up and was standing by the time he reached her.
\t“Sit down or leave Lin,” she said.
\t“Are you-”
\t“Don’t fucking ask. Sit down or leave. This is your last warning Lin. One more and you’ll go back inside,” she said. He sighed heavily but did as told. He walked back over to the chair and sat down. Laika got back into position and finished the star-fish exercise. She sat down on the bed and pulled her legs up and laid down. She closed her eyes and placed her paws on her tummy. She breathed in and out slowly as she ran her paws over her very large tummy. She did this for just two minutes. She opened her eyes and looked over at Lin. He was watching her intensely, his eyes never moved. His blinks were only once every twenty seconds. She pulled her legs off the bed and stood up. With a quick stretch she walked to the door.
\t“Come on Lin,” she said and walked out. She stopped and waited for him to close the door and catch up.
\t“Stay behind me but give me room,” she said. Then started walking. She walked through the playground and headed back to the pool, where she walked around it five times. She stopped and did her breathing exercise for one minute then walked towards the pond. She stepped on to the deck and walked out to the end. She took hold of the rail and lowered herself down to sit. She let her hindpaws hang off the edge so she could look out over the water.
\t“Sit down Lin,” she said as she moved her eyes watching the surface of the water. After a few minutes of silence she looked over at Lin and smiled.
\t“Lin, I’m sorry for getting upset with you so much. I know that you know that I need my space and alone time. I also know that you worry about me. I’m happy that you worry about me. But with how much you say that you worry about me and try to get me to stop doing things, it really stresses me out. A lot,” -she exhaled then took a breath- “Since I got kicked out of school, I’m stressed and depressed because of that. It doesn’t help me that you stress me out like you have been by wanting to be near me all the time or trying to get me to stop going outside without you or someone. I know that you don’t mean to do it. But just please trust me when I’m out here. Yes, there’s a few times where I’ve almost fallen. It’s scary, yes. I know that if I were to fall and land on my stomach, I could lose our pup or pups. But with everything that you saw me do. With what I do to protect myself, to catch myself, I feel safe doing what I do out here alone. If I didn’t feel safe or have a bad feeling, I’m not going to do it. I had my dad watch everything that I do, exactly the same thing that you saw today. He felt that I was being safe doing it all. I even fell forwards like I did at the table, doing that same exercise. He rushed up to me just like you and I snapped at him just like I did you. I’m not snapping at just you just to rude. I want you to understand that I’m safe and I don’t do anything that would hurt me or our litter,” she said. She leaned back and rested on her fore arms and looked at Lin.
\t“Laika-”
\t“Before you say anything, take the time and think about what I just told you. Depending on what you say back, I will either push you into this pond or not,” she said and placed her left paw against his back.
\t“Okay,” he replied. She sat up and lifted his arm and scooted over against him, resting her head against his body. They sat there for a few minutes in silence looking over the pond.
\t“Okay Laika. I will try to not worry about you so much. I’ll keep away from windows while you are out here. I’m sorry I stress you out like that,” he replied.
\t“Thank you Lin,” she said. She pressed her paw against his chest and told him to lay down. Once he did she cuddled up against him and rested her right arm on his chest, her paw just under his muzzle. After five minutes of them laying there, a gust of ice cold wind blew, it caused all of the trees to shiver for a few seconds. Laika opened her eyes and looked at him.
\t“Lets finish my alone time before this storm comes in,” she said.
\t“Okay,” he said. She sat up and turned around on her butt. He stood up and took her paws and gently pulled her up. She smiled up at him.
\t“I’ll go sit down now,” he said and let go of her paws.
\t“No,” she shook her head, “walk with me,” she replied. She took his right paw and the two headed off of the deck and around the pond. The two of them walked around the inside perimeter of the yard, following the fence. It took them over an hour to walk around the yard three times. Ten minutes before they finished, the first snowflakes of the season started falling. Luckily they were on the last lap and just needed to make one more turn against the outside fence on the north side of the house.

\tThey stepped into the house and shivered. Lin gently brushed some snow off of Laika’s hair and shoulders.
\t“Go to your room Lin. I’ll be there soon,” Laika said.
\t“O-okay?” He replied confused.
\t“Just go. You’re not in trouble,” she replied and giggled. She headed across the entrance and into the powder room. Lin watched her step in and close the door behind her, then headed for his bedroom.

\tTen minutes later Laika walked into his bedroom carrying two bottles of water. She sat them on the nightstand then climbed onto the bed. Lin was at his desk in front of his laptop, staring at it silently, not typing. She got off the bed and walked up behind him and rested her head against his shoulder. She scanned the characters and made out only a pawful of words. “Father,” “stay,” “pups,” “I,” “Home,” “Sorry,”
\t“Lin is this-”
\tLin quickly closed the lid and turned to the side of the chair and looked at Laika. She smiled at him and kissed his muzzle then got back on the bed.
\t“That’s email to father. I’m telling him that I’m a father and I have decided to stay here with you. That this is my home now,” he explained and sighed.
\t“You can’t send it can you?” She asked.
\t“No. Not until Rin and Wei leave. Father would force Wei to bring me back home,” he explained.
\t“We won’t let that happen Lin,” she replied as he stood up and walked to the bed.
\t“I know, but father is powerful in China. He can get his way easily,” he said and sat down. Laika pushed him down then laid her head on his chest. He placed his arm beside her, resting his paw just under her tummy.
\t“My dad will not let anything happen to you Lin. I can promise you that,” she replied.
\t“I really hope you’re right,” he replied and heavily exhaled. Laika sat up and looked at him.
\t“You’re really worried about your father. How powerful is he?” She asked.
\t“He’s really powerful. I can’t say why though,” he replied then placed the back of his wrist against his forehead. She looked at him and felt sad for him. She could tell that he was either extremely worried about his father or extremely scared, maybe both. She caressed his face then kissed him on his lips. He returned her kind gesture with a smile.
\t“Laika, why do you do all the stuff you do outside?” He asked.
\t“The exercises, breathing and walking?” She asked.
\t“Yes,” he replied.
\t“Helps keep me in shape so I don’t put on too much weight. But it really doesn’t help. I’ve put on like forty pounds or something, but that’ll go away after birth. Since all I can really do now is sit around, sleep and eat like a freaking feral wolf pack, I can easily gain fat weight. I really don’t want to weigh too much. It’s hard for me to explain it so it makes sense,” she replied.
\t“Oh. Okay,” he replied and smiled.
\t“It also helps keep me flexible and hopefully I’ll be able to do cheerleading again in a few years,” she added.
\t“Is cheerleading hard?” He asked.
\t“Yes and no. You have to keep flexible so you can bend, jump, flip and other stuff. It takes a lot of exercise to keep up with it. You need to learn how to control your breathing so you’re not holding your chest and trying to catch your breath in the middle of a show,” she explained.
\t“That does sound hard,” he replied.
\t“It is a lot of hard work and takes up a lot of time,” she replied then chuckled only to wince in a little bit of pain.
\t“Are you…” he cut himself off.
\t“Yes,” she said and grabbed his paw. She placed it on her tummy, after a few seconds, she winced again.
\t“What was that?” He asked.
\t“Our pup kicking,” she replied.
\t“Oh. That is cool,” he replied.
\t“It…” she grunted in pain, “hurts,” she said then breathed out.
\t“This is normal?” He asked.
\t“Yeah, I think so,” she replied.
\t“Should I, uh, we worry?” He asked. She nuzzled his neck then pulled her cellphone out of her pocket. She pressed the phone icon then tapped “mom” and it started dialing. After a few rings it picked up and she clicked the speaker phone.
\t“Laika, everything okay?” Vapor asked.
\t“I think so. Just wondering, to make Lin feel better, a pup kicking really hard inside is okay, right?” Laika asked.
\t“Yeah it is. You kicked me hard all the time starting around week six until you were born. She’s fine Lin. It’s just the pup playing, nothing to worry about,” Vapor explained.
\t“Thanks mom. Love you,” she said then ended the call.
\t“There you go, nothing to worry about worry-bug,” she said.
\t“Worry-bug?” He asked.
\t“Lin, you worry so much. It’s like bugs that won’t leave things alone. It’s nothing bad though,” she explained then kissed him.

\tAfter an hour of them laying down, she sat up and looked down at him for a few seconds before sliding off the bed. She headed into the bathroom while he remained laying down. A couple of minutes later she returned with the bottle of oil and got back on the bed. She lifted her butt and pulled her pants and then panties down then worked them off with her hindpaws. She lifted her shirt over her head and tossed it to the side then removed her training bra. She tossed him the oil and smiled. He sat up and sat on his legs then unscrewed the bottle lid.
\t“Clothes off,” she said smiling. He looked away for a few seconds then started stripping down. She giggled as he pulled his boxers down revealing his already erect penis. He moved to her other leg and did the same. As he pushed between her big toe and the one next to it, a loud crack of thunder sounded out and shook the house, causing both of them to jump. Laika nervously chuckled while they looked at each other. After a moment she nudged him with her hindpaw to continue. He poured a little more oil in his palm then finished her right hindpaw. As he sat her leg down the door flew open and Fang rushed in.
\t“You two, get down to the base-” he stopped as sirens began sounding in the distance. “The basement, there’s a tornado on the ground just a few miles out of town. Hurry now,” he said.
\t“I have oil all over me,” Laika said.
\t“Get down there now. Forget your clothes. Don’t worry about anything else, just get down there,” Fang said then rushed out. The two of them looked at each for a few seconds while what Fang said sunk in.
\t“Ah shit Lin, come on,” she said and slid off the bed. Lin jumped off and they walked out of the bedroom with Laika hanging onto Lin for support. They neared the stairs when Fang, Luna, Todd, who was carrying Skyler, came up behind them. Laika held on to the railing and stepped down onto the hardwood floor step. Her hindpaw slipped out from underneath her. She shrieked and was just barely caught by Fang, who had pushed past the rest of them. She looked up at him wide-eyed and panting hard.
\t“LAIKA!” Lin shouted and moved down the three steps to get to her.
\t“I said I had oil all over me,” she said.
\t“On the bottom of your paws?” He asked.
\t“Yes,” she replied. He sighed and picked her up, laying her across his arms.
\t“Come on, we gotta get to the safe room,” Fang said to everyone.
\t“Never, ever, EVER put oil on the bottom of your fucking hindpaws Laika. For this reason alone, that you just slipped. What if Lin or I or no one was around. \tThey reached the basement and headed for the safe room. Once everyone was in, Willow pulled the door shut. Fang carried Laika into the sleeping area and sat her down on a cot. He moved over to a large screen and turned it on. After a few seconds it flashed video’s from the camera’s that surrounded the house. Snow and hail was falling. The tree’s were being whipped around. The sky was dark from the storm but with snow clouds mixed in. He turned around as Vapor walked up.
\t“Everyone is here including Rin and Wei,” Vapor said.
\t“Good. I’ll get the weather radio turned on,” he said and walked to one of the shelves and picked up a small radio. He moved back to the desk and turned it on. It crackled to life as a voice sounded out, talking about the tornado on the ground. He looked up at the monitors then took the mouse and clicked a menu. Two speakers turned on and everyone could hear the wind blowing outside, the hail hitting the ground, the decks, the windows, everything. He turned the speakers down lower and looked back. Everyone was either sitting or standing. He sighed and looked at Vapor.
\t“You okay?” She asked.
\t“Yeah. I’m okay. Laika and Lin thought it was a good idea to put oil on the bottom of her hindpaws though,” he replied.

Between the tornado, the siren blaring and her slipping, my mind was split in two at the moment. I should go apologize,” he said. He grabbed the weather radio and headed back to the sleeping room.

\tVapor looked around at everyone, who all seemed to be at ease without much worry. Maybe they all trust Fang’s house design and it’s ability to survive a tornado. Luna and Todd was sitting on the floor entertaining Skyler with some Buplo MEGO blocks. \t“The large tornado has dissipated just two miles south-southwest of the town of Greenwood. The storm continues to move in a north-eastern pattern at forty miles per hour. Wind speeds are forty miles per hour with wind gusts up to eighty miles per hour. Hail has been reported to be up to grapefruit size with the majority being golf ball sized. Stay indoors and take cover on the lowest floor possible and put as many walls in between you and the storm. If you have a basement or storm shelter take cover until the storm has passed. This will change as night comes and the thunderstorms move away. We expect snow to continue falling for the next two to five days. Snowfall is expected to increase from quarter inch per hour to two inches per hour or more over the next thirty-six to four-eight hours. Take winter storm precautions immediately after the thunderstorms have passed. We advise you to stock up on food, water and other winter weather supplies if you haven’t already. \tVapor squatted down and picked up Laika’s leg then poured the rubbing alcohol onto the towel. She started scrubbing at the bottom of her hindpaws for a few minutes until all the oil was off. She then repeated it for the other.

\t“Good, it didn’t last long,” Elli said standing up.

\t“Not really but Akhi is coming over tonight, remember?” She replied. Elli is now 17 years and 9 months old.
\t“I didn’t give you permission to let her spend the entire night,” Fang said walking over to her.

\t“Well, stand up and try,” Fang said taking her paw. She stood up and walked a few feet.
\t“Does it feel slippery?” He asked.
\t“No,” she replied.
\t“Okay, you’re good to walk around. No more oil on the bottom of your hindpaws. I mean it,” he said looking at both.

\t“Once you get upstairs, go take a bath or something,” Fang said then lowered down to Laika’s ear, “you’re dripping like crazy down there,” he whispered.
