The TV’s all over the USF automatically turned on and alerted to a national emergency broadcast. Multiple Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles were inbound. Enough for every large city in the US. It was almost end of the Earth that everyone knew. “What’s going on? What does that mean?” Onai asked. “Not good stuff baby,” Vapor replied. “Everyone should get down to the safe room,” Willow suggested. “Yeah, come on," Fang replied then started shuffling everyone to the basement stairs. As everyone rushed from the living room a nuclear weapon exploded over Orion City. It took less than two minutes for the shockwave hit Greenwood. Entire houses shook, glass shattered and wood splintered. Tree were deleafed and many of the smaller trees were flattened to the ground. Vapor had turned on one of the emergency radio’s, only static was heard. It’s been hours since they rushed to the safe room. “Mom,” Laika said, “I don’t feel-” she stopped and barfed. “Laika!” Luna shouted as her little sisters body hit the floor. The adults ran over to the cubs. Onai and Luna soon started barfing as well. “I think it’s radiation poisoning,” Willow said quietly to Vapor. Three days later Luna weakly pushed herself up. Her fur was patchy and her skin was red and scaly. Her head pounded while her stomach growled. She stood up and shakily leaned against the wall. It was painful to touch. She could barely see, her eye sight failing. She slowly made her way out of the safe room, leaving her family behind, all of them had succumbed to the radiation. Laika had died first, twelve hours ago, then Onai, then Willow, Vapor, Elli, Tib, Fang and then Katia. The only one left was Luna. She grabbed the handle of the door that lead to the main house. She pushed it open to see nothing. Her eye sight instantly failed as soon as the door opened. The radiation was two-hundred thousand times more lethal above ground. She gasped for a breath of air. It was painful. Her legs gave out, her bones shattered almost instantly. She couldn’t scream from the pain. She fell to the floor as her skin started quickly peeling away, showing meat then muscle then bone. In less than an hour nothing but bonemeal remained, glowing a slight green tint, as did everything else around. There was nothing left on the earth. Six nations annihilated the only place they lived. USF, Australia, Britain, North Korea, China and Russia. Each launched their own nuclear weapons after North Korea and China launched theirs towards the USF. Russia launched theirs after the USF and Britain launched. Australia waited but ultimately launched theirs as well after the Eastern USF was annihilated already and missiles on the way to them as well. The world was ablaze. The atmosphere turned dark for twenty decades as nuclear winter set in. Only the bones of furs and humans remained. After many decades of no maintenance the Wolfe mansion finally gave way and collapsed in on itself. The concrete floor was severely weakened, the heavy metal plates of the roof crashed through the safe room exposing everything to the outside world for the first time in one-hundred and twenty-five years. No furson, human or feral animal survived, except those that lived miles underground and in the deepest parts of the oceans. The world would never recover from the twenty thousand 1 gigaton to 10 gigaton nuclear missiles that each nation had launched.
