"description": "This one really takes me back, one of my very first commissions!\n7 years ago I did just a simple portrait for this one and the customer recently came back for a full ref sheet of its metal body. \nChallenging? Sure, but there's much to love about this little project - I'll share some thoughts on my design process:\n- The hardest part was creating that chrome-metal look, but I kept the color scheme really simple.\n- Most of the interest came from the play of shapes - light and dark.\n- Since metal can come off as very cold and austere, some Jugendstil-like patterns and especially spirals gave it a more organic, approachable look. Not to mention - you can already find spirals and curves naturally in a sheep's horns and wool.\n- Finally I did 3 expressions, trying to show how all those mechanical bits would work together to convey some basic emotion. \nThis was a pretty awesome project - I like doing mech stuff because all that knowledge of those little bits like bones and joints that are usually hidden under skin - now you can use it and make them look quite good! \n\nIf you're looking for something like this, just send me message, I'm always open for commissions!
