They are the original and rightful intellectual property of their creators. I use them with permission and respect. This work involves underaged characters and transformational content. You have been warned.\t\n\n\tA new day dawns. The sun rises among the clouds and beams its warm light upon the world below. A child looks out his window from the bed underneath the wooden sill. He stares for a moment into the sky above. The clouds block out the sun enough that he does not need to shield his eyes but still he squints out of habit. It is the weekend and his alarm did not wake him up as it normally did during the earlier parts of the week.\n\n\tThe boy eases himself up onto his knees so he can look into the yard beyond the glass. The blades of greeny foliage blow back and forth against the wind. He slides open the window, allowing some of the wind to blow its way into his room. The drapes on the side of his window bend inward and back against him. The kid lowers himself back and slides back so that he can get off the bed. Getting up he stretches and looks over at a calendar affixed to the wall on the left side of his room.\n\n\tA smile crept up over his face as he looked at the crayon scribbled X's on the days leading up to an even larger O. The O itself was next in line. He knew all too well what that meant. It was his birthday. He nearly jumped up and down in place but stopped himself. He was 12 now and knew that it was time to act like a teenager. He quickly sped out of his room and burst out of the door. The sudden noise alerted his parents, who both stood in the hall waiting for him.\n\n\tThe boy sped right up to his father, who held out his arm to stop the boy. The kid stopped just short of the held-out hand. He knew full well that his father could overpower him.\n\n\"You know better than to run in the house, young man.\" The older man said.\n\nYoung man, the first time his father had used these words with him. It made the boy beam with pride.\n\nThe boy puffed out his chest. \"Sorry, I was just excited.\"\n\n\"We know. Happy Birthday, Nait.\" The father reached downward and gave his son a tight hug.\n\nNait smiled. \"Are my friends already coming over?\"\n\n\"Pent will be here shortly. The rest won't be here until tonight when your party is scheduled.\" The man let go and patted his son on the shoulder.\n\nNait pistoned his arm in place. \"Alright awesome.\"\n\n\"So have some fun. We can do your cake at lunch but the gifts will have to wait till tonight.\" The father walked away, leaving his son to his own devices.\n\nNait nodded and said nothing. He did not like to wait around but it didn't seem like he had much of a choice in the matter. The boy made his way to the living room, which was where he kept all of his gaming stuff.\n\n\tA beanbag chair was already situated at the center of the room with another right next to it. It was apparent his parents had already fixed up the place for his playdate today. His Xbox already looked like it was already plugged into the tv. Normally he had to set the stuff up himself but he was glad, for once, that he didn't have to bother with it. He made his way over to it and wasted no time before plopping down into the flimsy blue bean bag chair.\n\n\tThe thing made a muffled thud, letting out some air from its inseams. He powered on the machine and waited for it to boot up. It didn't take long to do so and before long he was playing some Minecraft to burn some time, rather than just wait for Pent. Nait was far from the most patient kid and always had to have something to do or he would get bored pretty easily. He began building some random stuff, with nothing particular in his mind he wanted to accomplish.\n\n\tIt wasn't long, at least to Nait, before there was a knock at the door. The boy was much too distracted, running away from some creeps in the game. So his mother ended up answering the door to allow Pent in. Pent and Nait had been best friends since they were early into grade school. They had plenty of sleepovers and the two knew each other quite well. The boy had a small box in his hand and clutched it close to his side as she allowed him into the home.\n\t\n\tThe other boy's mother offered to take it from him but Pent turned her down and she shrugged it off as no big deal. She pointed to where Nait was but just as she did so the kid was darting down towards the living room. The sound of Minecraft was unmistakable and it was a game he had watched Nait play on more than one occasion. Pent crept up behind the other boy and placed his hands over the boy's eyes in an attempt to be playful.\n\n\"Hey...no fair. I know it's you, Pent.\" Just as he was being blindfolded the creeper caught up to him and killed his character.\n\nThe game over screen and sounds of defeat rung loudly in the room. \"Woops, sorry.\" Pent uncovered the other boy's eyes.\n\n\"It's fine. I saved recently anyways.\" Nait turned around and smiled at the other boy as he wasn't a spoiled sport about dying.\n\nPent sat down next to his friend and handed off the wrapped package he had brought with him to the other boy. \"Here, I brought you this.\"\n\n\"Thanks, I'll open it later. Mom will get angry if I open it before the party.\" Nait pushed it off to the side.\n\nThe bigger boy nodded. \"Sure, got any multiplayer games?\"\n\n\"Yeah, want to play some Rocket League?\" The smaller boy suggested as it was something they had enjoyed before.\n\nPent shrugged. \"Sure, that's fine.\"\n\n\tNait leaned forward to change the disk in the drive slot of the console. Pent grabbed a nearby controller and waited patiently while his friend started up the game. Once he slotted it inside, Nait sat back and waited for the start screen. The idea of the game was similar to soccer, except with cars. Both boys had already picked cars previously so they had loadouts that they preferred from a previous session. They had played it enough that they were both pretty good at it but overall Nait always ended up more rounds than his friend did.\n\n\tWhen Pent finally got tired of it, they teamed up to go against the computer. It was a much more enjoyable experience once they were on the same side. Pent got easily frustrated since he knew he wasn't as good as Nait but still put up with it to appease his friend's gamer mentality. They completely lost track of time before Nait's mother was calling them in for lunch. By this point, the boy's father had stepped out to pick up the last of his son's gifts, but of course, he didn't know that. A cake was waiting for him on the table or at least a single slice of it.\n\n\"You can have a single slice but we're going to save the rest for later so your father, I, and the rest of your friends can sing you the birthday song.\" She said as a single candle was lit on the small treat.\n\nNait looked at it and then back at his mother who smiled warmly at him. \"Go on then, you know you want to. I know it's tantalizing you.\"\n\n\tNait sat down at the table and his friend soon joined him. The birthday boy lowered his head so that he was just about square with the cake and closed his eyes. As was normal with tradition, he wanted to make a wish. He had been thinking about it the past few days and did not need to give it any further thought beyond what he had already committed to it. So he took a deep breath before letting out all of the air in one go.\n\n\tThe force of his wind blowing was more than enough to put out the candle. As he did so, he put all the power of his imagination into his thought and said to himself.\n\n\"I wish me and Pent could be animals.\" It was short and sweet but it was something he fantasized about often.\n\nHe opened his eyes and still, his mother and friend were still smiling. Of course, nothing happened and he wasn't expecting it to. He shrugged and took one of the nearby forks before digging into the cake. It was sweet and decadent and small enough that it only took him a few bites before the treat was completely gone.\n\n\tWhen he was done his mother reached over and onto his face to wipe off some icing that had scraped off when he was biting into the cake.\n\n\"Aw mom, stop. Not in front of Pent. I'm not five...I can do it myself.\" Nait said before following up on the action.\n\nShe smiled and picked herself up from the table. \"I will be back before the party. I am going to help your father with something. You and Pent play nicely. I don't want to return to a mess.\"\n\n\"Yes, mom.\" Nait nodded as he did not like to ruffle feathers, especially his parents.\n\nShe made her way out of the room and soon the sound of the door being opened and shut echoed through the house. Nait looked over at his friend who was already snacking down on lunch. The smaller boy had all but forgotten about lunch as his mind was occupied by what his mother was doing. Looking back in front of him he saw a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a bag of chips and a drink on the side\n\n\tNait turned his attention to the meal and engulfed it in no time. He wasn't exactly the slowest eater and despite Pent starting, before he did, he was able to finish just about the same time. Once they were done, Nait was feeling the desire to go outside. He didn't like to be stuck inside and from what he remembered from earlier, today was a nice day to be outside.\n\n\"Come on, let's go play hide and seek or something,\" Nait suggested and took the two somewhat dirty dishes to the sink to be cleaned later.\n\nPent said nothing and followed his friend to the front yard before being let outside.\n\n\tJust as Nait thought it was a nice day. The sun was still somewhat blocked out by the sun so it wasn't as hot as it could have been otherwise. Nait closed and locked the door behind them and headed into the front yard. The lawn smelt of freshly cut grass and a breeze blew through the area.\n\n\"Want to hide\n or seek first?\" He asked Pent who had already situated himself by a nearby tree and was using it to prop himself up.\n\nPent shrugged. \"I can seek since I'm already prepared.\"\n\nNait smirked and waited for Pent to put his face against the tree. He overheard the other boy begin to count aloud. He knew exactly where he wanted to hide and wasted no time in getting to it. There was quite a lot of shrubbery and foliage around his house, so there was no shortage of places to pick.\n\n\tNait began to pick up the pace, his legs, and feet carrying him as fast as they would allow to a nearby outcropping of bushes. He jumped inside, feeling rather playful with the feel of greenery touching against him. His body itched as he reached to scratch the area that bothered him most, but found that with each raking of his nails the feeling began to spread through his body. As he scratched himself he noticed his body had some fuzz to it.\n\n\tHe stopped for a second and let his fingers sit there for a second. The small strands of fur weren't long enough to stroke but he could feel it there and rubbed his eyes. The hair was still there and he overheard a twig snapping. Was Pent around? He was certain he had the perfect spot but his instincts now told him otherwise. Quickly he lept into action, without so much as even thinking about it.\n\n\tHe began to crawl forward, trying to make as little noise as possible. The ruffling created by his movement alerted him even further. Spurning forward as he pushed his back legs, expecting him to give him so extra speed. His body launched upward, out of the bush and into an open area. He was no longer covered by foliage, he was now very much in the open. He sniffed, picking up an increasingly odd scent he had not experienced before.\n\n\tLooking at the ground, the hair that was there appeared to be longer. Now long enough that he couldn't see his own hands. He picked one of them up, feeling like he needed to put more weight on the other to remain upright. The bottom of his hands now had some pinkish-looking circles on them and his nails had elongated into some blackish talons. The sound of a snapping twig startled him yet again as he raced back into a nearby bush.\t\n\n\tNait had hopped into an outcropping of flowers. He could smell the fresh scent of the daisies and other flora that surrounded him. He couldn't help but dig his nose into one of them, realizing that his nose protruded now and looked more like a snout than an unseasonable human snoz. He tried picking up his hand, to touch it. But this time he found the appendage would not respond to his desire and looking down upon it the thing, it resembled more like a dog paw or something of the sort.\n\n\tBefore he could think any more of it, he felt the force of something pouncing on him. The sudden intrusion knocked him over and took the wind out of him. It took him a second to recover from being dazed. When he did, he saw an unfamiliar sight. A white...fox or thought looked like one now trounced overtop of him. The critter had its tongue hanging out from its snout, reaching down to lick on nait's cheek.\n\n\tNait looked into the creature's baby blue eyes. He could see his reflection in them. A sand-coated lion cub. The two animals stared into each other's eyes for a moment. Nait felt like he could sense something familiar about the other. He could feel something innately curious about it. The white canine off of him, allowing him to get up. The lion pranced onward back towards the fox to be playful.\n\n\tThe fox ran off, seeming to be leading him somewhere. Nait followed in suit, wanting nothing more than to catch up with the vulpine companion. Taking him out to a deeper wooded area, surrounded by naught but thick foliage and a single pool of water at the center of it. The fox had stopped to drink at the body of water, now dipping its head into it. The lion crouched down before pouncing forward, trying to let loose onto the other creature.\n\n\tInstead, the fox knew the game all too well. The lion finding crashing into the water beyond. Doggy paddling to get out and wanting nothing more than to get out. Once out, he began grooming himself, the fox staring him down with a smirk. Nait smiled back at the fox, seeing nothing wrong with its playful attitude. Despite not knowing it, it was apparent the boy had gotten what he wished for even if he didn't know it.\n\n\tThe two frolicked for the rest of the day, prancing through the forest as if they'd been through it many times. The two rough housing each other, nicking at the other's side as if they were animal companions to be. Only one passer-by noticed them, some hiker who paid them no heed other than noting it strange that a lion and white fox would be in that part of the crowd. It would not be until later that day that they returned to normal as if awaking from a slumber in the middle of the woods. They passed it off as no big ordeal.\n\nReturning just in time for the party. Nait's party was just as good as he thought it would be. His parents got him a brand new bike in dark yellow and brazen red, his favorite color combination. The sun rises among the clouds and beams its warm light upon the world below. A child looks out his window from the bed underneath the wooden sill. He stares for a moment into the sky above. The clouds block out the sun enough that he does not need to shield his eyes but still he squints out of habit. It is the weekend and his alarm did not wake him up as it normally did during the earlier parts of the week.

\tThe boy eases himself up onto his knees so he can look into the yard beyond the glass. The blades of greeny foliage blow back and forth against the wind. He slides open the window, allowing some of the wind to blow its way into his room. The drapes on the side of his window bend inward and back against him. The kid lowers himself back and slides back so that he can get off the bed. Getting up he stretches and looks over at a calendar affixed to the wall on the left side of his room.

\tA smile crept up over his face as he looked at the crayon scribbled X's on the days leading up to an even larger O. The O itself was next in line. He knew all too well what that meant. It was his birthday. He nearly jumped up and down in place but stopped himself. He was 12 now and knew that it was time to act like a teenager. He quickly sped out of his room and burst out of the door. The sudden noise alerted his parents, who both stood in the hall waiting for him.

\tThe boy sped right up to his father, who held out his arm to stop the boy. The kid stopped just short of the held-out hand. He knew full well that his father could overpower him.

"You know better than to run in the house, young man." The older man said.

Young man, the first time his father had used these words with him. It made the boy beam with pride.

The boy puffed out his chest. "Sorry, I was just excited."

"We know. Happy Birthday, Nait." The father reached downward and gave his son a tight hug.

Nait smiled. "Are my friends already coming over?"

"Pent will be here shortly. The rest won't be here until tonight when your party is scheduled." The man let go and patted his son on the shoulder.

Nait pistoned his arm in place. "Alright awesome."

"So have some fun. We can do your cake at lunch but the gifts will have to wait till tonight." The father walked away, leaving his son to his own devices.

Nait nodded and said nothing. He did not like to wait around but it didn't seem like he had much of a choice in the matter. The boy made his way to the living room, which was where he kept all of his gaming stuff.

\tA beanbag chair was already situated at the center of the room with another right next to it. It was apparent his parents had already fixed up the place for his playdate today. His Xbox already looked like it was already plugged into the tv. Normally he had to set the stuff up himself but he was glad, for once, that he didn't have to bother with it. He made his way over to it and wasted no time before plopping down into the flimsy blue bean bag chair.

\tThe thing made a muffled thud, letting out some air from its inseams. He powered on the machine and waited for it to boot up. It didn't take long to do so and before long he was playing some Minecraft to burn some time, rather than just wait for Pent. Nait was far from the most patient kid and always had to have something to do or he would get bored pretty easily. He began building some random stuff, with nothing particular in his mind he wanted to accomplish.

\tIt wasn't long, at least to Nait, before there was a knock at the door. The boy was much too distracted, running away from some creeps in the game. So his mother ended up answering the door to allow Pent in. Pent and Nait had been best friends since they were early into grade school. They had plenty of sleepovers and the two knew each other quite well. The boy had a small box in his hand and clutched it close to his side as she allowed him into the home.
\t
\tThe other boy's mother offered to take it from him but Pent turned her down and she shrugged it off as no big deal. She pointed to where Nait was but just as she did so the kid was darting down towards the living room. The sound of Minecraft was unmistakable and it was a game he had watched Nait play on more than one occasion. Pent crept up behind the other boy and placed his hands over the boy's eyes in an attempt to be playful.

"Hey...no fair. I know it's you, Pent." Just as he was being blindfolded the creeper caught up to him and killed his character.

The game over screen and sounds of defeat rung loudly in the room. "Woops, sorry." Pent uncovered the other boy's eyes.

"It's fine. I saved recently anyways." Nait turned around and smiled at the other boy as he wasn't a spoiled sport about dying.

Pent sat down next to his friend and handed off the wrapped package he had brought with him to the other boy. "Here, I brought you this."

"Thanks, I'll open it later. Mom will get angry if I open it before the party." Nait pushed it off to the side.

The bigger boy nodded. "Sure, got any multiplayer games?"

"Yeah, want to play some Rocket League?" The smaller boy suggested as it was something they had enjoyed before.

Pent shrugged. "Sure, that's fine."

\tNait leaned forward to change the disk in the drive slot of the console. They had played it enough that they were both pretty good at it but overall Nait always ended up more rounds than his friend did.

\tWhen Pent finally got tired of it, they teamed up to go against the computer. A cake was waiting for him on the table or at least a single slice of it.

"You can have a single slice but we're going to save the rest for later so your father, I, and the rest of your friends can sing you the birthday song." She said as a single candle was lit on the small treat.

Nait looked at it and then back at his mother who smiled warmly at him. "Go on then, you know you want to. I know it's tantalizing you."

\tNait sat down at the table and his friend soon joined him. The birthday boy lowered his head so that he was just about square with the cake and closed his eyes. As was normal with tradition, he wanted to make a wish. He had been thinking about it the past few days and did not need to give it any further thought beyond what he had already committed to it. So he took a deep breath before letting out all of the air in one go.

\tThe force of his wind blowing was more than enough to put out the candle. As he did so, he put all the power of his imagination into his thought and said to himself.

"I wish me and Pent could be animals." It was short and sweet but it was something he fantasized about often.

He opened his eyes and still, his mother and friend were still smiling. Of course, nothing happened and he wasn't expecting it to. He shrugged and took one of the nearby forks before digging into the cake. It was sweet and decadent and small enough that it only took him a few bites before the treat was completely gone.

\tWhen he was done his mother reached over and onto his face to wipe off some icing that had scraped off when he was biting into the cake.

"Aw mom, stop. Not in front of Pent. I'm not five...I can do it myself." Nait said before following up on the action.

She smiled and picked herself up from the table. "I will be back before the party. I am going to help your father with something. You and Pent play nicely. I don't want to return to a mess."

"Yes, mom." Nait nodded as he did not like to ruffle feathers, especially his parents.

She made her way out of the room and soon the sound of the door being opened and shut echoed through the house. Nait looked over at his friend who was already snacking down on lunch. The smaller boy had all but forgotten about lunch as his mind was occupied by what his mother was doing. Looking back in front of him he saw a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a bag of chips and a drink on the side

\tNait turned his attention to the meal and engulfed it in no time. He wasn't exactly the slowest eater and despite Pent starting, before he did, he was able to finish just about the same time. Once they were done, Nait was feeling the desire to go outside. He didn't like to be stuck inside and from what he remembered from earlier, today was a nice day to be outside.

"Come on, let's go play hide and seek or something," Nait suggested and took the two somewhat dirty dishes to the sink to be cleaned later.

Pent said nothing and followed his friend to the front yard before being let outside.

\tJust as Nait thought it was a nice day. The sun was still somewhat blocked out by the sun so it wasn't as hot as it could have been otherwise. Nait closed and locked the door behind them and headed into the front yard. The lawn smelt of freshly cut grass and a breeze blew through the area.

"Want to hide
or seek first?" He asked Pent who had already situated himself by a nearby tree and was using it to prop himself up.

Pent shrugged. "I can seek since I'm already prepared."

Nait smirked and waited for Pent to put his face against the tree. He overheard the other boy begin to count aloud. He knew exactly where he wanted to hide and wasted no time in getting to it. There was quite a lot of shrubbery and foliage around his house, so there was no shortage of places to pick.

\tNait began to pick up the pace, his legs, and feet carrying him as fast as they would allow to a nearby outcropping of bushes. He jumped inside, feeling rather playful with the feel of greenery touching against him. His body itched as he reached to scratch the area that bothered him most, but found that with each raking of his nails the feeling began to spread through his body. As he scratched himself he noticed his body had some fuzz to it.

\tHe stopped for a second and let his fingers sit there for a second. The small strands of fur weren't long enough to stroke but he could feel it there and rubbed his eyes. The hair was still there and he overheard a twig snapping. Was Pent around? He was certain he had the perfect spot but his instincts now told him otherwise. Quickly he lept into action, without so much as even thinking about it.

\tHe began to crawl forward, trying to make as little noise as possible. The ruffling created by his movement alerted him even further. Spurning forward as he pushed his back legs, expecting him to give him so extra speed. His body launched upward, out of the bush and into an open area. He was no longer covered by foliage, he was now very much in the open. He sniffed, picking up an increasingly odd scent he had not experienced before.

\tLooking at the ground, the hair that was there appeared to be longer. Now long enough that he couldn't see his own hands. He picked one of them up, feeling like he needed to put more weight on the other to remain upright. The bottom of his hands now had some pinkish-looking circles on them and his nails had elongated into some blackish talons. The sound of a snapping twig startled him yet again as he raced back into a nearby bush.\t

\tNait had hopped into an outcropping of flowers. He could smell the fresh scent of the daisies and other flora that surrounded him. He couldn't help but dig his nose into one of them, realizing that his nose protruded now and looked more like a snout than an unseasonable human snoz. He tried picking up his hand, to touch it. But this time he found the appendage would not respond to his desire and looking down upon it the thing, it resembled more like a dog paw or something of the sort.

\tBefore he could think any more of it, he felt the force of something pouncing on him. The sudden intrusion knocked him over and took the wind out of him. It took him a second to recover from being dazed. When he did, he saw an unfamiliar sight. A white...fox or thought looked like one now trounced overtop of him. The critter had its tongue hanging out from its snout, reaching down to lick on nait's cheek.

\tNait looked into the creature's baby blue eyes. He could see his reflection in them. A sand-coated lion cub. The two animals stared into each other's eyes for a moment. Nait felt like he could sense something familiar about the other. He could feel something innately curious about it. The white canine off of him, allowing him to get up. The lion pranced onward back towards the fox to be playful.

\tThe fox ran off, seeming to be leading him somewhere. Nait followed in suit, wanting nothing more than to catch up with the vulpine companion. Taking him out to a deeper wooded area, surrounded by naught but thick foliage and a single pool of water at the center of it. The fox had stopped to drink at the body of water, now dipping its head into it. The lion crouched down before pouncing forward, trying to let loose onto the other creature.

\tInstead, the fox knew the game all too well. The lion finding crashing into the water beyond. Doggy paddling to get out and wanting nothing more than to get out. Once out, he began grooming himself, the fox staring him down with a smirk. Nait smiled back at the fox, seeing nothing wrong with its playful attitude. Despite not knowing it, it was apparent the boy had gotten what he wished for even if he didn't know it.

\tThe two frolicked for the rest of the day, prancing through the forest as if they'd been through it many times. They passed it off as no big ordeal.

Returning just in time for the party. Nait's party was just as good as he thought it would be. His parents got him a brand new bike in dark yellow and brazen red, his favorite color combination. It was a gift he had been asking for for years and until now his parents didn't have the money to afford it. So when it was brought into the room, he had an emotional breakdown. To say the party went well would be an understatement as it would be something he'd remember for years.

As for the fit of lycanthropy but both Pent and Nait discussed it every once in a while, neither really understanding what had happened but knowing full well it happened.

"Maybe we can do it again sometime," Nait said with a smirk as his eye glinted.

Pent looked back at him with a smile. From then on every time either of them looked outside, they longed for the outdoors. Their sides itching ever so slightly and their hearts racing, if only a tad quicker.
