"writing": "Mass Reconcilation: Part 1 by: Pent Ghelsburg\n\nDisclaimer: This story series is the third continuation of my other series. While it is not directly related to the background story of my fursona, it is very early in his life. This story attempts to maintain the scientific realism of my other works. However the basic theme now shifts from something new but not all together different. Let me know if you have any comments, suggestions, or criticisms. I am open to everything so please feel free to leave me a message!\n\n“Scientific progress is the discovery of a more and more comprehensive simplicity.\nThe previous successes give us confidence in the future of science.”\nGeorges Lemaitre\n\nChapter 1: Anxiety and Angst\n\n\tThe sun arose the next morning. Peering through the window onto the kitchen table onto the stack of mail Samaliel had kept there for safe keeping. Waking up every morning it only served as a stark reminder of the situation we were in. As I awoke and headed into the kitchen for breakfast I couldn't help but look over at Samaliel in hopes that he was changing. But nothing at all seemed different about him. He had the television on which buzzed a news feed that had broadcasted throughout the night.\n\n\tOverhearing the story of the destroyed rent-a-lab brought a frown to my face. Images of the charred building lit the screen as smoke continued to billow out from the wreckage. Samaliel didn't say much but his focus on the screen gave away his dismay. Fortunately for me there were no reported injuries or the like. Strangely though they made no mention of the male who I'd met at the desk. Perhaps he thought he was behind the ordeal and had fled the scene. It mattered not as it benefited my claim to innocence.\n\n\tSamaliel continued to make breakfast. The scent of sausage in the morning was unmistakable and enough to rouse any carnivore out of slumber. The lady on the TV continued to survey the building, interviewing people of interest who had supposedly been around when the explosion occurred. Lucky for me none of them mentioned the unmistakable white blur of fur that I was. That would be a pretty hard accusation to escape had it been elicited from the interviewees. Once the interviews were over the show carried on to weather.\n\n\tI couldn't help but think that Samaliel wanted me to see the broadcast. I felt guilty as it was and the show only increased my sensitivity to the ordeal. Samaliel turned off the TV before dishing out the meal and sitting down at the table. “So what do you have to say for yourself?” It seemed I was right, he wanted me to atone for the accident. “I didn't mean to do it...of course I'm sorry but it wasn't like I walked in there intending to blow it up.” Samaliel looked over at me before returning his focus to his meal.\n\n\tI was indeed sorry about the situation. But the fact remained that I hadn't meant for it to happen. There was little that could be done about it now. Furthermore no one had been hurt or killed. I meagerly fed myself clearly upset by Samaliel's intended guilt trip. I excused myself, still hungry, but no longer in the mood to eat and made my way to my room. Samaliel wasn't far behind me sensing that he had gone too far. Entering into my room he looked down at me pouting on the side of my bed.\n\n\t“I guess there wasn't anything you could do about it. It's not your fault so don't take it so hard.” I looked up at him beneath tear ridden eyes before he continued. “I'm sorry.” I wiped my eyes with my fur before lurching over him to hug him. It was simple enough to bury my face in his chest. He had several inches on me and was much more physically active than I was. Samaliel stroked my head fur before guiding me over to the bed. “It'll be alright. I'm here for you ok?” This was all I needed to hear from him. \n\n\tSamaliel was always good at making me feel better even in the old days. Still being more sensitive than I was in the past, I required the extra sympathy from him. Tending my wounded pride was not something I was used too especially amid my self confident and often arrogant attitude of the past. However his consolation served to soothe me. I smiled over at him before hugging him again in affection. My body and mind had changed but our relationship had only grown closer since then.\n\nChapter 2: Growth spurt\n\n\tSamaliel did his best not to bring up the accident in the following days and I included just as much effort to not think about it. The sensationalism of the news certainly helped them move on from the initial story as there wasn't much to be told since there were no casualties. Still neither of us really liked television. Both of us being academics in different regards found solace in things other than the telly. With each passing day the mail seemingly stacked up higher and higher.\n\n\tSamaliel became increasingly worried about what the contents of the envelopes were. Applying for extensions was something he wasn't quite aware of. A quick call to mother suggested that solution which deviated the problem for the time being. Approaching Samaliel every morning I couldn't help but stare hoping for the best. One morning I couldn't help but notice Samaliel's clothing looked tight on him. Samaliel had been an average height of 162.5cm, for some time now and hadn't needed clothing despite being in the middle of puberty.\n\n\tIt was wholly possible at he was going through a growth spurt. Samaliel shaved every morning so there was seldom any body hair on his body. Still as I suggested that he was getting taller he just grinned at me. He truly hated being a late bloomer and the idea of a growth spurt greatly appealed to him. Stepping over to the door way, Samaliel grabbed a pencil and marked as flat as he could on top of his head. Withdrawing from his spot we looked at it together. There was definitely a difference of maybe an centimeter or two. It was minor but promising.\n\n\tSamaliel looked over at me with a smile. “Do you think it worked?” I considered the notion as my tarnished pride swelled inside of me. “I don't, your clothing doesn't fit as well as it did before. But it could just be a growth spurt.” Samaliel took a measuring tape before stepping on it and extending it over his body. “165cm” Samaliel said as the tape snapped loudly before he set it down. “It isn't wholly unlikely for you to have grown a few centimeters and it's been a while since you've checked.” I suggested.\n\n\t“It's better than nothing, I guess.” Samaliel retorted. He was right but it wasn't clear enough evidence that the experiment had worked. A 14 year old boy growing a centimeter or two mid-puberty was far from abnormal. “Just keep track and we'll have to wait and see, alright?” I added. Samaliel nodded before returning to his daily tasks, no longer as concerned about the bills as he once was. The renewed hope was definitely a needed change in atmosphere for us but our difficulties seemed far from over.\n\nChapter 3: Tooth ache\n\n\tThe next few days brought little promising results. Samaliel's hair seemed to be getting darker but he showed no other signs of evident changes. With every morning I looked over at him and stared him down from head to toe as if I were a drill instructor inspecting uniform code. Without fail every time he looked at me strangely but just accepted my curiosity as normal. I decided to keep a journal about it despite not having much to write about at this point. However one morning I was greeted with a drastic shout. \t\n\n\t“Pent!” Still being in bed and half lost between sleep and dream, I tossed around trying to wake up to his summon. “My teeth! Look at my teeth!.” I was still dreary as I took my paws up to my eyes in an effort to wake myself. Peering inside I couldn't help but notice that he had lost a sizable amount of teeth had fallen out. Even his canines seemed longer, long enough now to stick out when he closed his mouth. Retracting his jaw from my paw, the smile on his face was a mixture of happiness and uncertainty.\n\n\tI had forgotten I failed to mention to him that he was likely becoming a furry like myself. “Why are my teeth falling out, Pent?” I couldn't help but feel a bit guilty but he did deserve some explanation. “You are going to become a furry like me, Samaliel.” Samaliel looked at me while considering the notion. His face was squinting as if he was still feeling pain in his mouth. “Why?” Samaliel asked me before pressing his hand against his chin trying to alleviate his obvious discomfort. “Because it's the only way I thought for sure we could make you older.”\n\n\tIt was true this was the original idea but he showed no signs of being older than he was. Other than his initial growth spurt he'd shown no signs of physical or mental changes. This was really the first drastic change that he'd encountered. “I guess your right but you should have told me. What will I become?” He didn't seem to adverse to the idea and I was glad he wasn't upset with me. “You will most likely become an Arctic Fox, like myself.” It did make sense for foxes of a kind to live together and he just nodded in approval to my response. \n\n\tWhat I failed to tell him was the pain and anguish I went through during the process of the change. He was just getting a taste of it as his jaw had just begun to accommodate his new canine maw. He smiled over at me despite grimacing in pain I could tell he was happy for some progress to be initiated. Leaving the room he set about on finding himself some asprin as we continued the day without much ceremony. \t\n\nChapter 4: Awkward strides\n\n\tAs time pressed on the changes became more obvious. Samaliel's body had begun to sprout gray fuzz all about his figure. His clothing were becoming even more tight on him as the fur began to fill out over his adolescent frame. But he was still showing no signs of physical maturation. His feet were beginning to spread and he had a hard time fitting into his shoes with the change in his bipedal dynamics. It was hard to tell but his face was also beginning to expand and grow outward. His nose turning more and more black beneath the darkening of his nose and fur.\n\n\tWith every morning we checked for physical growth and were met with naught but disappointment. His body was changing in many ways but the most important aspect of aging seemed to be eluding him. One thing that was promising however was the increase in his muscle mass. He was gaining weight in a positive way as he was much more physical able than he was before. One morning he even hoisted me above his shoulders with little effort or strain. It was quite impressive for a boy roughly 17.5 cm taller than myself.\n\n\tLooking over the rear portion of his body as he let me down I couldn't help but notice his sprouting tail. It looked to be about a quarter of the size of my own and innocently poked beneath his shirt which already was stressed beneath his increased body mass. I could see he had already altered his pants to accommodate the extra appendage. His half hand paws were quite large for boy of his size, the same went for his feet which no longer fit in his shoes without great discomfort.\n\n\tThat night for dinner Samaliel found himself eating and drinking a lot more than was usual. He had been regimenting a high protein diet in order to supplement the changes and his appetite had indeed increased recently. Watching him eat was fascinating, he easily ate double what I did. I could notice he was struggling to cope with eating now with the pain in his developing maw. During the meal his shirt finally gave way, ripping at the seams between the increase of his body mass. Underneath was quite the spectacle.\n\n\tDespite his mid-length black fur covering his stomach, I could clearly make out a somewhat well developed 6 pack abs. His arms too showed clear definition despite only limited activity lately. As he stood up, his pants too broke away. Luckily for me his underwear continued to stretch under the tension. He began walking away from the table, wobbling a bit still not used to walking on his developing digigrade legs. Tripping over onto ground briefly reminded me of my re-training to walk.\n\n\tRushing over to help him, I tried to coax him back up. But physically I was nowhere near strong enough to lift him up and he knew that. Samaliel picked himself up and continued to struggle to walk as he rubbed his head in frustration. His ears were somewhat lost between vulpine and human, grey flesh mingled with the pinkish flesh at the base underneath short specs of gray fur. After some trial and error he managed to walk, though still with some trepidation. \n\n\tSamaliel knew that eventually he would need new clothing as none of his stuff fit anymore. Samaliel consulted with me on this issue. “Should I buy new clothing?” I considered the fact that none of his clothing fit him anymore before answering. “You should probably wait til your body is done changing.” Samaliel thought about this option before responding. “Maybe your right, it's not like you haven't seen me naked before.” \n\n\tHe was right but it had been many years since this was the case and it didn't change how awkward the situation would be when it presented itself. Still I agreed that it was best to wait and let my own discomfort take a backseat in order to save time and money. I suggested these ideas to him before continuing. “Yeah, I guess your right.” It wasn't long before we had to head to bed and await another day. \n\nChapter 5: Hysteria\n\n\tThe next morning I woke up with a yawn and my stretch already enjoying the aroma of Samaliel's normal breakfast routine. A gentle digital chatter could be heard under the fizzing of whatever it was that Samaliel was cooking. Entering into the kitchen I could see that Samaliel had the television on for the news and weather. Samaliel seemed different and I couldn't quite put my finger on why but the sound of what was coming from the telly concerned me enough to attract my attention.\n\n\t“Today's top story, mass hysteria as all of the people in Kingston have all been found turning into animal-like people!” I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Samaliel's deathlike stare at the screen should have been enough to warn me. The anchor was a wolf! “As you can see, I am no longer as I once was. People across the city are in panic.” Samaliel looked back over at me as if he was implying that I had something to do with it. No words were said as the news story continued.\n\n\t“Authorities are unsure as to the reason for the mass changes. Scientists are currently investigating. the police urges people to remain calm.” Samaliel stepped toward me as he loomed over my figure. “What did you do...?” I wasn't really sure how this happened. “I didn't do anything. Maybe it was because of the accident?” Samaliel placed his now larger predominately paw-like hands on his face clearly at a loss for words. “Maybe it's for the best. Now at least they won't have a reason to alienate us.”\n\n\tSamaliel picked his face up from his paw-hands. He had not considered this before he finally conjured words to express his thoughts in a more masculine voice than I was used to. “I guess your right.” Pent had told Samaliel how the humans reacted to his being. Now they would have to accept both of them. Samaliel walked over to the kitchen doorway clearing showing headway over the last mark he had made. “Hey, Samaliel, I think you grew some more...” I commented, trying to change the subject.\n\n\tSamaliel stopped at this suggestion before looking at the marked doorway. He could barely see the mark now which definitely meant it was below head level now. Fetching the tape measure he preformed the same technique as before, stepping on the base before extending it's length over his head. “167.5cm” Hearing this brought a smile to both of our faces. He was definitely growing, as slow as it was, but at least it was happening. By the sounds of it his voice was dropping as well.\n\n\tEverything seemed to be working out in our favor. Samaliel's fur had seemingly filled out over his body despite his feet and hands being lost somewhere between animal and human. The changes were promising. He had the television on which buzzed a news feed that had broadcasted throughout the night.

\tOverhearing the story of the destroyed rent-a-lab brought a frown to my face. It mattered not as it benefited my claim to innocence.

\tSamaliel continued to make breakfast. Once the interviews were over the show carried on to weather.

\tI couldn't help but think that Samaliel wanted me to see the broadcast. I felt guilty as it was and the show only increased my sensitivity to the ordeal. Samaliel turned off the TV before dishing out the meal and sitting down at the table. “So what do you have to say for yourself?” It seemed I was right, he wanted me to atone for the accident. “I didn't mean to do it...of course I'm sorry but it wasn't like I walked in there intending to blow it up.” Samaliel looked over at me before returning his focus to his meal.

\tI was indeed sorry about the situation. Entering into my room he looked down at me pouting on the side of my bed.

\t“I guess there wasn't anything you could do about it.

\tSamaliel was always good at making me feel better even in the old days. Still being more sensitive than I was in the past, I required the extra sympathy from him. Tending my wounded pride was not something I was used too especially amid my self confident and often arrogant attitude of the past. However his consolation served to soothe me. I smiled over at him before hugging him again in affection. My body and mind had changed but our relationship had only grown closer since then.

Chapter 2: Growth spurt

\tSamaliel did his best not to bring up the accident in the following days and I included just as much effort to not think about it. The sensationalism of the news certainly helped them move on from the initial story as there wasn't much to be told since there were no casualties. Still neither of us really liked television. Both of us being academics in different regards found solace in things other than the telly. With each passing day the mail seemingly stacked up higher and higher.

\tSamaliel became increasingly worried about what the contents of the envelopes were. Samaliel had been an average height of 162.5cm, for some time now and hadn't needed clothing despite being in the middle of puberty.

\tIt was wholly possible at he was going through a growth spurt. It was minor but promising.

\tSamaliel looked over at me with a smile. “It isn't wholly unlikely for you to have grown a few centimeters and it's been a while since you've checked.” I suggested.

\t“It's better than nothing, I guess.” Samaliel retorted. The renewed hope was definitely a needed change in atmosphere for us but our difficulties seemed far from over.

Chapter 3: Tooth ache

\tThe next few days brought little promising results. \t

\t“Pent!” Still being in bed and half lost between sleep and dream, I tossed around trying to wake up to his summon. Retracting his jaw from my paw, the smile on his face was a mixture of happiness and uncertainty.

\tI had forgotten I failed to mention to him that he was likely becoming a furry like myself. “Because it's the only way I thought for sure we could make you older.”

\tIt was true this was the original idea but he showed no signs of being older than he was.

\tWhat I failed to tell him was the pain and anguish I went through during the process of the change. He was just getting a taste of it as his jaw had just begun to accommodate his new canine maw. He smiled over at me despite grimacing in pain I could tell he was happy for some progress to be initiated. Leaving the room he set about on finding himself some asprin as we continued the day without much ceremony. \t

Chapter 4: Awkward strides

\tAs time pressed on the changes became more obvious. His nose turning more and more black beneath the darkening of his nose and fur.

\tWith every morning we checked for physical growth and were met with naught but disappointment. His body was changing in many ways but the most important aspect of aging seemed to be eluding him. One thing that was promising however was the increase in his muscle mass. He was gaining weight in a positive way as he was much more physical able than he was before. One morning he even hoisted me above his shoulders with little effort or strain. It was quite impressive for a boy roughly 17.5 cm taller than myself.

\tLooking over the rear portion of his body as he let me down I couldn't help but notice his sprouting tail. It looked to be about a quarter of the size of my own and innocently poked beneath his shirt which already was stressed beneath his increased body mass. I could see he had already altered his pants to accommodate the extra appendage. His half hand paws were quite large for boy of his size, the same went for his feet which no longer fit in his shoes without great discomfort.

\tThat night for dinner Samaliel found himself eating and drinking a lot more than was usual. Underneath was quite the spectacle.

\tDespite his mid-length black fur covering his stomach, I could clearly make out a somewhat well developed 6 pack abs. His arms too showed clear definition despite only limited activity lately. As he stood up, his pants too broke away. Luckily for me his underwear continued to stretch under the tension. He began walking away from the table, wobbling a bit still not used to walking on his developing digigrade legs. Tripping over onto ground briefly reminded me of my re-training to walk.

\tRushing over to help him, I tried to coax him back up.

\tSamaliel knew that eventually he would need new clothing as none of his stuff fit anymore. Samaliel consulted with me on this issue. “Should I buy new clothing?” I considered the fact that none of his clothing fit him anymore before answering. “You should probably wait til your body is done changing.” Samaliel thought about this option before responding. “Maybe your right, it's not like you haven't seen me naked before.”

\tHe was right but it had been many years since this was the case and it didn't change how awkward the situation would be when it presented itself. Still I agreed that it was best to wait and let my own discomfort take a backseat in order to save time and money. I suggested these ideas to him before continuing. “Yeah, I guess your right.” It wasn't long before we had to head to bed and await another day.

Chapter 5: Hysteria

\tThe next morning I woke up with a yawn and my stretch already enjoying the aroma of Samaliel's normal breakfast routine. A gentle digital chatter could be heard under the fizzing of whatever it was that Samaliel was cooking. Entering into the kitchen I could see that Samaliel had the television on for the news and weather. Samaliel seemed different and I couldn't quite put my finger on why but the sound of what was coming from the telly concerned me enough to attract my attention.

\t“Today's top story, mass hysteria as all of the people in Kingston have all been found turning into animal-like people!” I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Samaliel's deathlike stare at the screen should have been enough to warn me. The anchor was a wolf! “As you can see, I am no longer as I once was. People across the city are in panic.” Samaliel looked back over at me as if he was implying that I had something to do with it. No words were said as the news story continued.

\t“Authorities are unsure as to the reason for the mass changes. Now at least they won't have a reason to alienate us.”

\tSamaliel picked his face up from his paw-hands. “Hey, Samaliel, I think you grew some more...” I commented, trying to change the subject.

\tSamaliel stopped at this suggestion before looking at the marked doorway. By the sounds of it his voice was dropping as well.

\tEverything seemed to be working out in our favor. Samaliel's fur had seemingly filled out over his body despite his feet and hands being lost somewhere between animal and human. The changes were promising. Samaliel seemed to be dealing with it quite well. Samaliel showed little anguish or anxiety over the situation. Turning off the TV Samaliel returned to his daily duties. The routine was becoming more habitual. Soon we hoped our lives would become just as regimented as any other families. ",
