"writing": "[t]______________________________[/t]\n[t]MONDAY, JULY 25th, 1960[/t] \n\nEarly that Monday morning, shortly after breakfast, and before Al had to leave the house for work at Horizon Innovations Laboratories, the family had received the phone call from Dave Pine Martin at Albuquerque Chrysler Plymouth to let them know their brand new Plymouth Fury 9 passenger station wagon had arrived on the carrier the day before...Being 1960, the phone was a typical land line phone of the day and time with a rotary dial, and had that loud >ring-a-ling-a-ling-a-ling-a-ling-a... when a call came in.\n\"Hello\", Al answered the phone.\n\"Hello, Al. This is Dave Pine Martin. How's everyone doing?\" Dave greeted Al.\n\"Oh hello, Dave. We're all doing well and good\", Al replied. \n\"I'm calling to let you know your new Fury wagon arrived yesterday\", said Dave.\n\"Awright, Dave! That's great news!\", Al exclaimed. \n\"It's a really nice looking car\", Dave assured Al. \nAl replied to Dave. \"We'll have to wait until I get off from work this afternoon before we can come and pick the car up\".\n \"The station wagon?\", Marge asked Al as she overheard the conversation.\n\"Dave said it came in yesterday\", Al answered to Marge's delight.\nOldest cub Jed, also overhearing Mom and Dad, asked, \"They got the station wagon in?\".\n\"It came in yesterday\", Al said to Jed as Marge verified with a nod.\n\"Oh, that roof rack I offered you all\", Dave inquired. \"Do you want that installed?\".\nAfter Al said to Dave, \"Hold on a second\", he asked Marge, \"What about that roof rack? Dave just now asked me about that\".\n\"Definitely. Yes\", Marge answered.\n\"We're taking the roof rack\", Al informed Dave.\n\"I'll get our new car prep department on it right away\", Dave Pine Martin said. \"Our guys will have it installed and ready when you all come by this evening\".\nRex, Clarence and Donna were thrilled when Jed went back to the recreation den where they were playing with the electric toy trains to tell them the car had arrived at the dealership. \n\"I can hear that the cubs are happy\", Dave Pine Martin said over the phone.\n\"Yes they are...We all are actually\", Al replied.\n\"I tried to reach you yesterday afternoon\", Dave mentioned.\n\"Our church had a fellowship dinner after services\", Al explained. \"We weren't home most of the day\".\n\"You sure you don't want to trade that Chrysler 300?\", Dave Pine Martin asked in jest.\n\"Nooooo way\", Al answered as he and Dave laughed...Dave already knowing what the answer would be.\nWith all that said, arrangements were made for Al, Marge and the cubs to come by at the dealership that evening to pick up the station wagon.\nJust before Al left for work, he and Marge hugged as they always do just before Al left for work.\n\"Be careful dear\", Marge said to Al. \"You know the roads are wet\".\n\"I will\", Al assured Marge. \"I see you all this afternoon\".\nThere were still some occasional leftover lite rain showers and drizzles from the thunder storm system the day before...The largest storm remnant still left behind by that system was a long way to the south in LasCruces. \nAfter Al arrived to work later that morning, he told the other scientists about their Fury 9 passenger wagon arriving at the dealership. Greg Otter, Woodrow Raccoon, Lenard Wolverine, Harold Wolf, Poindexter Fox and others were delighted to hear about it, and mentioned that they would like to get a chance to see the car.\nGreg Otter even mentioned that he was thinking of getting a 2nd car for his wife, Maria, for the times when Greg is at work.\nAl mentioned, \"I'm sure Dave Pine Martin at Albuquerque Chrysler Plymouth can work you a good deal\".\nGreg replied, \"I'm truly grateful for the offer, Al. But Maria and I are partial to Oldsmobile\".\n\"I myself I'm a raccoon who likes Ford\", said Woodrow Raccoon. \"Though the only thing I don't like about that Edsel I have are those darn push buttons for the transmission being on the steering wheel. Several times I had to bring it in for service because of it messing up on me\".\n\"Well, I'm on the same page as Al\", Harold Wolf said. \"I had that DeSoto I've been driving for three years now, and it's treated me very well\".\n\"You can't go wrong with a Buick\", Lenard Wolverine added, being he drives a 1959 Buick.\nHowever, Greg Otter still had it settled in his mind that when he gets a car for Maria, it will definitely be an Oldsmobile...Maybe a 1961 model when the 1961 models come out four months later in November.\nOf course Poindexter Fox interjected, \"I find my Nash to be a very practical car\".\nSeveral of the other scientists replied facetiously in unison, \"Oooookay\".\nIt was obvious that Poindexter was the only one among them who was a big fan of Nash / Rambler when it came to choice of automobile.\nAfter the little session of 'car talk', it was time for everyone to get on their various engineering projects, some of which had crucial deadlines to meet...Besides that, some of the scientists who are involved on Project Courier promised they'd assist Professor Nickolas Fox, Daren Margay and Lola Binturong at the time travel machine landing site out off of highway 54. Nickolas Fox and his two assistants have been making occasional trips from Area 51 for some time now to attempt getting the time travel machine operational again so Clarence can get back home to the 21st Century to be back with his original family and old friends. \n\n______________________________\nAt the end of Al's shift, Al wasted no time getting in his Chrysler 300 and heading back home to get Marge and the cubs to go to Albuquerque to get their new Plymouth Fury 9 passenger station wagon.\n\"Dad is back from work!\", Jed exclaimed as Al drove the Chrysler 300 up the driveway and tooted the car's dual tone horn. \n\"Come on. Let's go\", Marge said to the cubs as everyone proceeded out to where Al was waiting in the Chrysler.\n\"Oh boy! We're gettin' our new station wagon!\", Rex proclaimed.\n\"What colour is it?\", youngest cub Donna asked.\n\"It's a grayish blue...and white\", Marge replied to her daughter.\n\"That sounds like a ickey colour\", Donna retorted.\n\"Your mom and I saw images of cars in that colour when we ordered it, and looks nice\", Al assured his daughter Donna.\n\"No one will have to sit on laps anymore\", Clarence proclaimed.\n\"You are so right\", Marge assured her step son. \"And we'll have a car to go places when your dad has the Chrysler at work\".\nThe cubs replied with a cheer, \"YEAAAAHHHH!\".\nOnce everyone was in the car, it was off to Albuquerque Chrysler Plymouth to get that 9 passenger wagon. \nThe family proceeded in the Chrysler going northwest along Route 3 out of their home community of Duran. Along the way, Marge thanked Al for getting the station wagon.\n\"It always has bothered me for you and the cubs to be without transportation when ever I needed the car\", Al mentioned.\nEven back when they bought their brand new 1954 Chrysler, about the time 6 year old Donna Coyote was born, they still have always had only one car in the family...By the way, that 1954 Chrysler was the car they traded in for their 1960 Chrysler 300. \n\"We can go places now\", Rex proclaimed as the other cubs cheered. \nEventually, they crossed Route 60 in the town of Encino where Route 3 fed onto Highway 285 going north. Off to the left in a distance looking west as they crossed Route 60, they could see the Horizon Innovations Laboratory and research complex where Al works. Just as they were leaving north out of Encino on 285, they passed an annex facility and testing grounds of Horizon Innovations, which depending on what project is going at the time, is where Al and other scientists are sometimes instructed to report to work.\nThey haven't gone very far north since leaving Encino when they saw a work gang from the Torrance County jail picking up trash along the roadside...A lite rain began as they slowed down for the safety of workers along the road, and who did they see up ahead in that work gang on the right side?\n\"That looks like one of Reginald Pitbull's boys, Biff\", Al said as they began passing by the work gang.\nSure enough, it was Biff Pitbull on the work gang, who had been one of the school bullies, now picking up roadside trash out in rainy weather.\nAs they approached where Biff was, Rex, who was sitting in the rear right seat, quickly lowered the power window.\n\"We have the air conditioning going\", Marge said to Rex. \"And it starting to rain\".\n\"I know, Mom. But watch this\", Rex exclaimed.\nAs they passed by where Biff was, Rex hollered, \"MAKE IT PERDDY, BIFF!\", then raised the window back up as everyone laughed.\nAs they continued down the highway, everyone got another laugh when they noticed from the back window, Biff Pitbull flinging his trash stab stick and trash sack across Highway 285 out of a fit rage of temper...Al saw it in the car's rear view mirror.\n\"I think you cheesed off Biff\", Jed laughed to his younger brother Rex, as everyone noticed, now going away at a distance, a guard armed with a shotgun reprimanding Biff for his actions.\n\"I'm just glad a car wasn't going by when Biff slung that pick-up stick and bag across the road\", Marge said after she got done laughing.\nAl reminded Rex, \"You do know Biff, Richie and that other goofball who hangs out with them will be getting out of jail in a few days\".\n\"Gaston\", Jed mentioned.\n\"That's the one\", Al acknowledged, then further told Rex, \"School starts again at the end of next month. And although Biff has graduated, he can still sick his younger brother Richie and their cronie Gaston on you if he finds out you've been doing it\".\n\"Remember how bad they beat up Bucky Beaver\", Jed reminded Rex.\n\"Oh yea\", said Rex, hoping Biff never finds out it was him.\nMarge finally said to Rex, \"Well, you had your fun with Biff. Now would be the time to lay off while you're ahead\".\n\"I didn't see Richie and Gaston out there\", said 6 year old Donna.\n\"That's because they're in juvenile jail\", Marge said to Donna.\n\"They don't make juveniles work on chain gangs\", Al added.\n\"You'd think those three would have had the sense to know pulling the school fire alarm wasn't worth 45 days of jail\", Marge mentioned.\n\"I believe they'll spend the rest of their lives bumping walls and dead ends\", Al added.\nAfter they arrived to Cline's Corners, Jed proclaimed, \"The got the overpass done!\".\nThe overpass that runs Route 285 over the not yet completed Interstate 40 was alread opened to traffic.\n\"Can we go over it once?\", Rex asked, even though getting to the presently used Route 66 wouldn't normally take them over the new overpass.\nWhen the other cubs also asked, \"Can we try out the new overpass?\", Al agreed to drive over the new overpass, then turn around to come back over and catch Route 66 westbound to Albuquerque.\n\"I've been over this overpass lotsa times when it was old\", Clarence said. \"But I never dreamed I'd ride over it when it's new\".\nAs the family then proceeded along Route 66, everyone noticed that the pavement work was well underway on the new Interstate 40. The rain that day wasn't really heavy enough to speak of, thus the weather wasn't holding up work on the new I-40. \nOf course, once they got west of Moriarty, there was the section of completed I-40. The last time they rode this section of interstate was more that two weeks ago when they took the cubs to the hobby shop in Tri-Star Plaza to race slot cars. \n\"It will be nice when they get the interstate all the way through, But I will miss the old Route 66\", Marge mentioned as they cruised down the new completed section of I-40.\n\"Well...It's progress\", Al said to Marge. \"But from what Frank told me his son said, they're going to leave a lot of the old Route 66 intact as a historical highway.\nUpon reaching the east side of Albuquerque, there were those big warning signs in big bold print that read, [t]\"INTERSTATE 40 ENDS AHEAD. DETOUR ONTO ROUTE 66\"[/t]...And of course, Tri-Star Plaza was still open for business, although it was in the cross hairs of progress being in the path of where I-40 will eventually continue. \nWhere the interstate fed back into Route 66, Al looked toward Tri-Star plaza on the right and mentioned, \"Yup. It's slated to be torn down when work continues on the interstate\". \n\"And to think the shysters that had it built three years ago planned it that way\", Marge added.\n\"Their lawyers are getting them a big profit from the state highway department for that plaza\", said Al. \"Anyone else wouldn't get away with pulling that off\".\nIt was then on down Route 66 on past the state fairgrounds, then eventually, a right onto northbound Route 47 a short way...Then there it was on the right side of the highway... Albuquerque Chrysler Plymouth.\nDave Pine Martin noticed Al, Marge and the cubs pulling onto the lot in their black 1960 Chrysler 300 that Dave had sold to them back in January, thus he proceeded out to greet them.\n\"Which car is it?\", Clarence asked.\n\"Where's it at?!\", Rex exclaimed as everyone was getting out of the car.\n\"Okay, hold your horses, guys\", Al said as Dave Pine Martin walked up. \n\"Hello, Al\", Dave greeted as he and Al shook paws. \n\"Hi, Dave\", Al replied just before Dave shook paws with Marge.\n\"We can barely wait to see the car\", said Marge.\n\"Your Fury station wagon is over by new car ready department\", said Dave as he led Al, Marge and the cubs to where the station wagon is.\n\"Well. There it is\", Dave said as the family got their first look at their new station wagon.\n[hugethumb]2116521[/hugethumb]\nAbove pic drawn by @BEASTofTURIN\n[hugethumb]1979376,2[/hugethumb]\n\"Wow! Nicer car than I had pictured it would be\", Al complimented.\n\"I like it\", Marge declared. \"It's a beautiful car\".\nIt even had the roof rack Al and Marge accepted Dave's offer on.\nThe cubs were the first members of the family to get into the car and check it out.\n\"Your cubs like it, I see\", Dave said as Rex was the one sitting at the wheel pretending like he was driving.\n\"We do too\", said Marge.\nBefore concluding the sale, Dave got a dealer tag so Al and Marge can take turns driving the car out in town a little while Dave rode with them.\nUpon the adults getting, Al said to Rex, \"Move over so your mom can drive.\n\"Is Dave riding with us\", Donna asked.\n\"Ihave to while we're using a dealer tag\", Dave replied.\nEventually, Al got a go at driving the wagon.\n\"This car rides nice\", Al said as he noticed how nice the car drives. \"Smoother...But it still controls well\".\n\"Chrysler Corporation has come a long way with innovation in just the few recent years\", Dave replied.\nOf course, the Chrysler 300 doesn't ride as smooth as the Plymouth wagon because it is a high performance car engineered for precise control at high speeds...which Al and Marge are aware of that about their Chrysler. \nAfter some driving around town, they returned to the dealership, then went into Dave's sales office to conclude the transaction. \nDave had offered the Fury wagon for $4,070 plus tax and destination when it was ordered, and $100 down was left as a deposit. That left not much over the $4,070 as the total cost including tax and destination, which Al counted out as he placed the cash in large bills on Dave Pine Martin's desk...That paid the car in full, with no need for financing.\n\"Does that make it our car?!\", Donna asked.\n\"It is now\", Dave answered. \"All there's left now is some paperwork, a temporary tag for you, and our signing off of the factory title\".\nJed mentioned, \"I can hardly wait until our neighbors see our new station wagon\".\n\"We're looking forward to it\", Al said as he, Marge and Dave smiled.\nWhen Dave ask which one's name the car will be in, Al and Marge agreed to have it officially in both of their names, being the Chrysler 300 was titled the same way...But as far as the family was concerned, the two cars are 'his and hers' cars. \nThe paperwork was soon completed, including a bill of sale, and a temporary tag was issued. For the signing off of the factory issued title, the sales floor manager, Cory Bear, came to Dave's office to witness the signing of the title being that Cory ia a certified notary. Dave Pine Martin was among the sales animals who was granted power of attorney to sign in behalf of the dealership, thus he was authorized sign off the title.\nAfter Cory Bear embossed the title with his notary stamp, he said to Al and Marge as he pawed the title to them, \"That makes it official\".\n\"Thank you, Cory\", said Dave Pine Martin.\n\"My pleasure\", Cory Bear replied just before he headed back to his manager's office. \nThe Coyote Family now had possession of their brand new, 1960, Plymouth Fury, 9 passenger station wagon... The owner of the dealership even had Dave Pine Martin take the car out to the nearby gas station the dealership had voucher arrangements with, and top off the tank for them.\nOnce Dave got back from the gas station, everything was ready to go.\n\"Now, like was with the Chrysler 300, there is a 500 mile break in period\", Dave mentioned to Al and Marge as he gave them the 2nd set of keys, and advised them to read the owner's manual.\nThat meant refraining from fast driving and quick take-offs until the mechanical parts seat as the car breaks in after 500 miles.\nDave did give Al and Marge some business cards (not in full colour back in those days) and asked, \"If you know anyone who's in the market for a new car, I'd appreciate it if you'd give them one of my cards\".\n\"Okay\", Al replied.\n\"We certainly will\", Marge added.\nUpon leaving, Al, Marge and the cubs bid Dave Pine Martin a good evening as Dave thanked them for their business. \nOn the way back to Duran, Al led the way back driving the Chrysler 300 with Marge and the cubs following in the Plymouth Fury wagon. Their speed was kept between 45 and 50 mph to allow for the breaking in peroid of the Plymouth... Marge was looking forward to the 500 mile break in period being over so she can try out that 395 Golden Commando V-8... Like her husband Al, she enjoys fast driving too. \nOn the way back, the cubs would climb over the seats to take turns trying out that rear facing, extra, fold up seat.\nMarge eventually told the cubs, \"Let's not be climbing on the seats. These are really nice seats and not as tough as the seats in our other car\".\nThe station wagon had the optional soft cushion seats that Al and Marge ordered, and doesn't take a lot of being climbed over. Marge said to the cubs if they want to swap places, she can stop the car and let them step out and back in the car the proper way instead of climbing over seats. \nThe car's radio also had a sound of high quality in which music played on it had a rich tone. At one point however, the station the car's radio was tuned to gave a news report of a tropical depression around the Carribean. The news reporter continued to say if the system became a tropical storm, it would be named Tropical Storm Brenda.\n\"Did they skip giving a male name to a storm?\", Clarence asked, remembering that the most recent Hurricane in the Atlantic two weeks earlier was named Abby.\n\"I thought you knew they don't give male names to hurricanes\", Marge said to Clarence.\n\"That would be crazy\", Rex said.\n\"Yeah...Hurricane Johnny\", Jed jested as everyone except for Clarence chuckled.\n\"In 2017, there was two hurricanes with male names\", Clarence said. \"One was Harvey that hit Texas, and another one was Jose\".\n\"There were two hurricanes, not was\", Marge began with correcting Clarence's grammar, then continued, \"And it wouldn't be was or were anyway. Remember, in this day and time the 21st Century is still in the future\".\n\"Well. Will be\", Clarence acknowledged.\n\"So you say they'll be giving male names to tropical storms and hurricanes 60 years from now?\", Marge asked Clarence.\n\"That's weird\", Donna exclaimed.\n\"They actually gave...I mean will give, both male and female names to those kind of storms in my day and time\", said Clarence.\n\"That's the first I've ever heard of that\", Marge replied.\n\"I've thought they've always done that\", Clarence mentioned.\n\"No. Not in this day and time. It's always been female names\", Marge concluded. \n \n[t]______________________________[/t]\nShortly after the family returned home with now having two cars, Frank and Wanda Coyote's older daughter, Dotty, was the first neighbor to notice the new station wagon.\n\"Oh my gosh! That's the new station wagon you said you were getting!\", Dotty exclaimed. \"It's a really nice car! So cool!\"\n\"How ya like it?!\", Donna asked Dotty.\n\"Oh, a lot\", Dotty answered as she was eyeing the car over.\n\"It's the gift Al promised me back during my birthday\", Marge said to Dotty.\n\"I always wanted Marge and the cubs to have transportation while I was at work\", Al added.\n\"That makes two of us who wanted that\", Marge said as she gave Al a kiss.\n\"We won't be stuck at home anymore when Dad's at work\", Rex added.\nOlder brother Jed mentioned, \"I can't wait until I can get a driver's license\".\n\"Me too\", Clarence added.\n\"You got several more years yet, you two\", Al said to Jed and Clarence with a smile. \n\"Let me go get my mom and dad here\", Dotty said, as she knew that her parents Frank and Wanda, and her younger sister Cheryl would like to see the new wagon.\nAl, Marge and the cubs continued conversation out by the cars until Frank and Wanda came walking over.\n\"Wow! Nice car\", Frank commented as he walked over, using his cane due to his old work related leg injury.\n\"It's so gorgous\", said Frank's wife, Wanda.\n\"Oh wow! That's nice\", said 8 year old Cheryl.\n\"I should have been a scientist\", Frank jested as he and everyone chuckled.\n\"In my day and time, they don't have cars like this\", Clarence said.\n\"I've heard about the cars you said will be around 60 years from now\", Frank replied. \"Doesn't sound like there's much to them\".\n\"Well, Clarence tells us those cars will have more gadgets and accessories\", Al mentioned to Frank.\n\"That would be a plus anyway\", Frank admitted.\nClarence mentioning about being from the 21st Century was of no consequence being that Frank and Wanda's family already knew Clarence was from that day and time.\nOf course, Cheryl went over to Clarence where she and he snuggled up together... After all, they have been in love since not long after Clarence arrived to 1960. \n\"When we get back to the house, I'll give Jerald and Cindy a call to come over and see your new wagon\", Frank said to Al and Marge.\nEveryone talked a while longer before Frank, Wanda and Dotty walked back to their house, which it was already dark out. Cheryl wanted to come inside Al and Marge's house to be with Clarence a while, thus Al, Marge, Frank and Wanda were okay with that.\nBack at Frank and Wanda's house, Frank phoned their son and daughter in law, Jerald and Cindy, to come over and see Al and Marge's new station wagon. \n\"When Jerald answered the phone, \"Hello\", Frank knew Jerald and Cindy were home. \nBeing there were no cell phones back then, \"Were are you at\", was not a normally asked question when someone answered a phone.\n\"Hello, Jerald\", Frank greeted.\n\"Oh hello, Dad\", Jerald replied.\n\"Hey listen up. Al and Marge finally got that Plymouth station wagon they ordered\", Frank said to his son. \"Wanna come over and see it?\".\n\"Sure, Dad\", Jerald answered, then said, \"Hold on a bit\".\nThen Frank could hear over the phone Jerald calling Cindy, \"Cindy. Al and Marge got their new station wagon\".\n\"Oh that's wonderful\", Frank could hear Cindy reply.\nThen Frank could hear Jerald tell Cindy, \"Were being invited over to see it\".\n\"Oh love to\", Cindy replied.\nThen Jerald came back on the phone and said to his dad, \"Cindy and I will be right over\".\nThe conversation went another two minutes before they hung up. \nAbout 20 minutes later, Jerald and Cindy came pulling up to Jerald's Mom and Dad's house in that old 1952 Pontiac of theirs...And that amber, Indian wolf head, hood ornament still lit up with the headlights at night.\n[hugethumb]1979376,3[/hugethumb]\nWhen Frank and the rest of the family came out to greet them, Jerald commented , \"We just now noticed their new car as we were coming in here\".\n\"It is nice looking\", Cindy added.\n\"Let's go over and let Jerald and Cindy have a better look\", Wanda suggested to Frank. \"I'm sure they didn't have a good look just driving by it at night\".\nFrank agreed with Wanda as Dotty came out to greet her older brother and sister-in-law. Cheryl was still with Clarence over at Al and Marge's house. Thus everyone proceeded walking over to Al and Marge's place to see the new car. \nAfter Frank knocked on the front door, Al, Marge, their cubs (which also includes Clarence) and Cheryl greeted Jerald and Cindy. Frank mentioned that Jerald and Cindy wanted to see the new station wagon as Wanda and Dotti affirmed.\n\"Marge. What do you say we let them have a ride\", Al asked Marge.\n\"I'm all for that that\", Marge said as she went to get the keys.\nAs everyone made their way to the station wagon, Cindy commented, \"My goodness. That's such a lovely car\".\n\"It sure is a cool looking ride\", Jerald added.\nBeing a 9 passenger wagon, Al and Marge were going out on the demo ride with Marge driving, Frank and Wanda were coming along, Jerald and Cindy were also riding which made six, and Dotty and Cheryl made eight...Cheryl wanted her boy friend Clarence to come along, so that made nine. There was no room for Jed, Rex and Donna...But then, they had a turn riding home in it from the dealership. And back in those days, it wasn't dangerous to leave cubs home on their own for a while. Thus there was no problem with Jed, Rex and Donna waiting at home that evening.\n\"I never felt car seats this soft and so cushion like before\", Wanda said as everyone was getting into the car.\n\"These are optional soft cushion seats\", Al replied.\n\"It sure is nice\", Frank affirmed.\nMarge drove...Al sat on the front passenger's side...Dotty sat between Al and Marge...And going from left to right on the back seat were Jerald, Cindy, Wanda and Frank...Those four adults sat four on the back seat to let Clarence and Cheryl have the very back, fold up, cargo area seat to their selves...Besides, as big as cars were in those days, four adults on a bench seat wasn't as bad as it would sound with the smaller cars in the 21st Century 50 and 60 years later...And the tailgate was opened to let Clarence and Cheryl in as the rule was \"no climbing over the seats\".\nThey decided to travel north on Highway 54 to Vaughn to show the car to Cindy's parents, Ed and Charlot and to younger brother, Scotty.\nThat Plymouth station wagon rode smooth and nice, yet had precise feel of control with it's state of the art, front, torsion bar suspension. And where ever the road dipped a little, there was no bobbing as the car was leaving away from the dip in the road...Most heavier GM cars were especially bad for bobbing past bumps and dips back in the day. \n\"This car does ride nice\", said Jerald. \n\"My car would have bounced a time or two coming off that dip back there\", Frank acknowledged, referring to his 1955, six cylinder, Chevy wagon.\n\"It feels like you're gliding along\", Wanda said.\n\"I know Mom and Dad will be impressed with this car\", said Cindy.\nAlong the way, Marge had mentioned what Clarence had said about how both male and female names will be used to name tropical storms and hurricanes...Which needless to say, being the day and time, everyone found that a bit strange.\n\"Sounds a bit peculiar\", said Al. \"But I guess that's something that will come about in the 21st Century\".\n\"There was a Hurricane...\", Clarence began.\n\"Will be\", Marge corrected Clarence in mid sentence.\n\"Oh yeah\", Clarence replied. \"They'll be a Hurricane David in 19...79 I think it is\".\n\"Sounds like that change you guessed at is going to be only 19 years from now\", Frank said to Al.\n\"Looks that way\", Al replied to Frank.\nAs they continued along Highway 54 to the home of Cindy's folks in Vaughn, the conversation shifted to other things discussed by Dotty and the adults. \nFinally they arrived to Ed and Charlot Coyote's house in Vaughn. And when Cindy's parents, Ed and Charlot, and younger brother, Scotty, saw Al and Marge's new station wagon, they were truly impressed. \n\"WOW! Can we get a car like that?!\", Cindy's younger brother, Scotty, exclaimed.\n\"Can you pay for a car like that?\", Charlot asked her cub son as everyone chuckled.\n\"I guess not\", Scotty answered.\n\"There's nothing wrong with the car we have\", Ed said to Scotty, then complimented to Al and Marge, \"Boy, that is a nice car\".\nAfter all, even though operating a switcher locomotive for the Santa Fe Railroad yard in Vaughn does pay well, it still doesn't pay as well as being a scientist and design engineer for Horizon Innovations laboratories.\n\"That is a beautiful car\", Charlot commented.\nEd and Charlot invited the others in the house for coffee or tea...and soda for the cubs, Cheryl and Clarence.\nEveryone socialized for a few hours, as it was also nice for Ed and Charlot having their daughter and son-in-law over for a visit...Eventually, it was getting really late at night and time to be getting on back home. Thus Ed and Charlot, as well as the others, bid good night...Ed and Charlot's, son, Scotty, was already asleep in bed for the night.\nSo; Al, Marge, Frank, Wanda, Dotty, Jerald, Cindy, Clarence and Cheryl got back into the station wagon to head back to Duran. Clarence and Cheryl were tired as it was late at night, thus they both slept on the way back home.\nBack in their home community of Duran, Marge and Al dropped Frank, Wanda and Cheryl off at their house before they rode a few doors down back at their own house...They lived only a few doors down, but it did save some walking for Frank with the leg injury he had from a drunk driver who entered a work zone when he use to work for the state highway department.\nBack at Al and Marge's house, it was past midnight when Jerald and Cindy bid good night with the others just before leaving in their 1952 Pontiac to go back to their place. \nJust before Al and Marge went to bed, they made sure Jed, Rex, Clarence and Donna were also in bed for the night.\nAlmost two hours after everyone had gotten to bed, the 2:07 am, southbound passenger train sped by on the railroad tracks that ran through the small community of Duran, blowing it's horn for the Route 3 crossing as the crossing bells began clanging. Twelve seconds later, the sound could be heard of the locomotives speeding by, and the rapid clacking of the wheels of the passenger cars until the train had passed.\nhttps://youtu.be/uNwAEptoNl0?t=80 (Unlike in the video, it was one of the two tone orange, Southern Pacific, passenger trains).\n[hugethumb]1979178[/hugethumb]\nAs things turned out, it has been a happy day, and a happy evening for everyone. \n And from now on, when Al is at work, Marge and the cubs will have a car to go places outside of Duran in. Also when everyone goes out on excursions as a family, a family of six no longer has to make do with a seating arrangement designed for four occupants...which was only a slight oversight on Al and Marge's decision to go with a Chrysler 300 back in January before Clarence came into the picture a month later. \n\n\n[t]To be continued.[/t]\n",

Nickolas Fox and his two assistants have been making occasional trips from Area 51 for some time now to attempt getting the time travel machine operational again so Clarence can get back home to the 21st Century to be back with his original family and old friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br /><span style=\"color: #c4a000;\"><strong>______________________________</strong></span><br /><span style=\"color: #204a87;\"><strong>At the end of Al&#039;s shift,</strong></span> Al wasted no time getting in his Chrysler 300 and heading back home to get Marge and the cubs to go to Albuquerque to get their new Plymouth Fury 9 passenger station wagon.<br />&quot;Dad is back from work!&quot;, Jed exclaimed as Al drove the Chrysler 300 up the driveway and tooted the car&#039;s dual tone horn. <br />&quot;Come on. Along the way, Marge thanked Al for getting the station wagon.<br />&quot;It always has bothered me for you and the cubs to be without transportation when ever I needed the car&quot;, Al mentioned.<br />Even back when they bought their brand new 1954 Chrysler, about the time 6 year old Donna Coyote was born, they still have always had only one car in the family...By the way, that 1954 Chrysler was the car they traded in for their 1960 Chrysler 300. <br />&quot;We can go places <strong><em>now</em></strong>&quot;, Rex proclaimed as the other cubs cheered. <br />Eventually, they crossed Route 60 in the town of Encino where Route 3 fed onto Highway 285 going north. Off to the left in a distance looking west as they crossed Route 60, they could see the Horizon Innovations Laboratory and research complex where Al works. Just as they were leaving north out of Encino on 285, they passed an annex facility and testing grounds of Horizon Innovations, which depending on what project is going at the time, is where Al and other scientists are sometimes instructed to report to work.<br />They haven&#039;t gone very far north since leaving Encino when they saw a work gang from the Torrance County jail picking up trash along the roadside...A lite rain began as they slowed down for the safety of workers along the road, and who did they see up ahead in that work gang on the right side?<br />&quot;That looks like one of Reginald Pitbull&#039;s boys, Biff&quot;, Al said as they began passing by the work gang.<br />Sure enough, it was Biff Pitbull on the work gang, who had been one of the school bullies, now picking up roadside trash out in rainy weather.<br />As they approached where Biff was, Rex, who was sitting in the rear right seat, quickly lowered the power window.<br />&quot;We have the air conditioning going&quot;, Marge said to Rex. &quot; And it starting to rain&quot;.<br />&quot;I know, Mom. But watch <strong><em>this</em></strong>&quot;, Rex exclaimed.<br />As they passed by where Biff was, Rex hollered, &quot;MAKE IT PERDDY, BIFF!&quot;, then raised the window back up as everyone laughed.<br />As they continued down the highway, everyone got another laugh when they noticed from the back window, Biff Pitbull flinging his trash stab stick and trash sack across Highway 285 out of a fit rage of temper...Al saw it in the car&#039;s rear view mirror.<br />&quot;I think you cheesed off Biff&quot;, Jed laughed to his younger brother Rex, as everyone noticed, now going away at a distance, a guard armed with a shotgun reprimanding Biff for his actions.<br />&quot;I&#039;m just glad a car wasn&#039;t going by when Biff slung that pick-up stick and bag across the road&quot;, Marge said after she got done laughing.<br />Al reminded Rex, &quot; You <strong><em>do</em></strong> know Biff, Richie and that other goofball who hangs out with them will be getting out of jail in a few days&quot;.<br />&quot;Gaston&quot;, Jed mentioned.<br />&quot;That&#039;s the one&quot;, Al acknowledged, then further told Rex, &quot;School starts again at the end of next month. And although Biff has graduated, he can <strong><em>still</em></strong> sick his younger brother Richie and their cronie Gaston on you if he finds out you&#039;ve been doing it&quot;.<br />&quot;Remember how bad they beat up Bucky Beaver&quot;, Jed reminded Rex.<br />&quot;Oh yea&quot;, said Rex, hoping Biff never finds out it was him.<br />Marge finally said to Rex, &quot;Well, you had your fun with Biff. Now would be the time to lay off while you&#039;re ahead&quot;.<br />&quot;I didn&#039;t see Richie and Gaston out there&quot;, said 6 year old Donna.<br />&quot;That&#039;s because they&#039;re in <strong><em>juvenile</em></strong> jail&quot;, Marge said to Donna.<br />&quot;They don&#039;t make juveniles work on chain gangs&quot;, Al added.<br />&quot;You&#039;d think those three would have had the sense to know pulling the school fire alarm wasn&#039;t worth 45 days of jail&quot;, Marge mentioned.<br />&quot;I believe they&#039;ll spend the rest of their lives bumping walls and dead ends&quot;, Al added.<br />After they arrived to Cline&#039;s Corners, Jed proclaimed, &quot; The got the overpass done!&quot;.<br />The overpass that runs Route 285 over the not yet completed Interstate 40 was alread opened to traffic.<br />&quot;Can we go over it once?&quot;, Rex asked, even though getting to the presently used Route 66 wouldn&#039;t normally take them over the new overpass.<br />When the other cubs also asked, &quot; Can we try out the new overpass?&quot;, Al agreed to drive over the new overpass, then turn around to come back over and catch Route 66 westbound to Albuquerque.<br />&quot;I&#039;ve been over this overpass lotsa times when it was old&quot;, Clarence said. &quot; But I never dreamed I&#039;d ride over it when it&#039;s new&quot;.<br />As the family then proceeded along Route 66, everyone noticed that the pavement work was well underway on the new Interstate 40. The rain that day wasn&#039;t really heavy enough to speak of, thus the weather wasn&#039;t holding up work on the new I-40. <br />Of course, once they got west of Moriarty, there was the section of completed I-40. The last time they rode this section of interstate was more that two weeks ago when they took the cubs to the hobby shop in Tri-Star Plaza to race slot cars. <br />&quot;It will be nice when they get the interstate all the way through, But I <em>will</em> miss the old Route 66&quot;, Marge mentioned as they cruised down the new completed section of I-40.<br />&quot;Well...It&#039;s progress&quot;, Al said to Marge. &quot; But from what Frank told me his son said, they&#039;re going to leave a lot of the old Route 66 intact as a historical highway.<br />Upon reaching the east side of Albuquerque, there were those big warning signs in big bold print that read, <span style=\"color: #ce5c00;\"><strong><em><span class='font_title'>&quot;INTERSTATE 40 ENDS AHEAD. DETOUR ONTO ROUTE 66&quot;</span></em></strong></span>...And of course, Tri-Star Plaza was still open for business, although it was in the cross hairs of progress being in the path of where I-40 will eventually continue. <br />Where the interstate fed back into Route 66, Al looked toward Tri-Star plaza on the right and mentioned, &quot;Yup. It&#039;s slated to be torn down when work continues on the interstate&quot;. <br />&quot;And to think the shysters that had it built three years ago planned it that way&quot;, Marge added.<br />&quot;Their lawyers are getting them a big profit from the state highway department for that plaza&quot;, said Al. &quot;Anyone else wouldn&#039;t get away with pulling that off&quot;.<br />It was then on down Route 66 on past the state fairgrounds, then eventually, a right onto northbound Route 47 a short way...Then there it was on the right side of the highway... Albuquerque Chrysler Plymouth.<br />Dave Pine Martin noticed Al, Marge and the cubs pulling onto the lot in their black 1960 Chrysler 300 that Dave had sold to them back in January, thus he proceeded out to greet them.<br />&quot;Which car is it?&quot;, Clarence asked.<br />&quot;Where&#039;s it at?!&quot;, Rex exclaimed as everyone was getting out of the car.<br />&quot;Okay, hold your horses, guys&quot;, Al said as Dave Pine Martin walked up.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&quot;Hello, Al&quot;, Dave greeted as he and Al shook paws. <br />&quot;Hi, Dave&quot;, Al replied just before Dave shook paws with Marge.<br />&quot;We can barely wait to see the car&quot;, said Marge.<br />&quot;Your Fury station wagon is over by new car ready department&quot;, said Dave as he led Al, Marge and the cubs to where the station wagon is.<br />&quot;Well. There it is&quot;, Dave said as the family got their first look at their new station wagon.<br /><table style='display: inline-block;'><tr><td>\r\n\t\t\t<div class='widget_imageFromSubmission ' style='width: 187.5px; height: 132.5px; position: relative; margin: 0px auto;'>\r\n\t\t\t\t<a href='/s/2116521' style='border: 0px;'><img src='https://nl1.ib.metapix.net/files/preview/3064/3064505_moyomongoose_3064243_beastofturin_img167.jpg' width='187.5' height='132.5' title='1960 Plymouth Fury Station Wagon - Gift Drawing by moyomongoose' alt='1960 Plymouth Fury Station Wagon - Gift Drawing by moyomongoose' style='position: relative; border: 0px; ' class='shadowedimage' /></a>\r\n\t\t\t</div>\r\n\t\t\t</td></tr></table><br /><span style=\"color: #4e9a06;\"><strong>Above pic drawn by</strong></span> \r\n\t\t\t\t\t<table style='display: inline-block; vertical-align:bottom;'>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<tr>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<td style='vertical-align: middle; border: none;'>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div style='width: 50px; height: 50px; position: relative; margin: 0px auto;'>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style='position: relative; border: 0px;' href='https://inkbunny.net/BEASTofTURIN'><img class='shadowedimage' style='border: 0px;' src='https://nl1.ib.metapix.net/usericons/small/91/91617_Furguy89_furguy89_new_logo.gif' width='50' height='50' alt='BEASTofTURIN' title='BEASTofTURIN' /></a>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t</div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t</td>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<td style='vertical-align: bottom; font-size: 10pt;'>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span style='position: relative; top: 2px;'><a href='https://inkbunny.net/BEASTofTURIN' class='widget_userNameSmall'>BEASTofTURIN</a></span>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t</td>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t</tr>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t</table><br /><table style='display: inline-block;'><tr><td>\r\n\t\t\t<div class='widget_imageFromSubmission ' style='width: 187.5px; height: 55.625px; position: relative; margin: 0px auto;'>\r\n\t\t\t\t<a href='/s/1979376-p2-' style='border: 0px;'><img src='https://nl1.ib.metapix.net/files/preview/2855/2855448_moyomongoose_al_and_marge_s_new_car.jpg' width='187.5' height='55.625' title='Clarence Coyote and Project Courier - Part 27 - The New Station Wagon - SFW Version [Page 2] by moyomongoose' alt='Clarence Coyote and Project Courier - Part 27 - The New Station Wagon - SFW Version [Page 2] by moyomongoose' style='position: relative; border: 0px; ' class='shadowedimage' /><div title='Submission has 3 pages' style='width: 188.5px; height: 43px; position: absolute; bottom: 0px; right: -1px; background-image: url(https://nl1.ib.metapix.net/images80/overlays/multipage_large.png); background-position: bottom right; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-size: 62.5%'></div><div title='Submission has 3 pages' style=' position: absolute; bottom: 0px; right: 2px; color: #333333; font-size: 10pt;'>+3</div></a>\r\n\t\t\t</div>\r\n\t\t\t</td></tr></table><br />&quot;Wow! That left not much over the $4,070 as the total cost <em>including</em> tax and destination, which Al counted out as he placed the cash in large bills on Dave Pine Martin&#039;s desk...That paid the car in full, with no need for financing.<br />&quot;Does that make it <strong><em>our</em></strong> car?!&quot;, Donna asked.<br />&quot;It is <strong><em>now</em></strong>&quot;, Dave answered. &quot; All there&#039;s left now is some paperwork, a temporary tag for you, and our signing off of the factory title&quot;.<br />Jed mentioned, &quot;I can hardly wait until our neighbors see our new station wagon&quot;.<br />&quot;We&#039;re looking forward to it&quot;, Al said as he, Marge and Dave smiled.<br />When Dave ask which one&#039;s name the car will be in, Al and Marge agreed to have it officially in both of their names, being the Chrysler 300 was titled the same way...But as far as the family was concerned, the two cars are &#039;his and hers&#039; cars. <br />The paperwork was soon completed, including a bill of sale, and a temporary tag was issued. For the signing off of the factory issued title, the sales floor manager, Cory Bear, came to Dave&#039;s office to witness the signing of the title being that Cory ia a certified notary. Dave Pine Martin was among the sales animals who was granted power of attorney to sign in behalf of the dealership, thus he was authorized sign off the title.<br />After Cory Bear embossed the title with his notary stamp, he said to Al and Marge as he pawed the title to them, &quot; That makes it official&quot;.<br />&quot;Thank you, Cory&quot;, said Dave Pine Martin.<br />&quot;My pleasure&quot;, Cory Bear replied just before he headed back to his manager&#039;s office.&nbsp;&nbsp; <br />The Coyote Family now had possession of their brand new, 1960, Plymouth Fury, 9 passenger station wagon... The owner of the dealership even had Dave Pine Martin take the car out to the nearby gas station the dealership had voucher arrangements with, and top off the tank for them.<br />Once Dave got back from the gas station, everything was ready to go.<br />&quot;Now, like was with the Chrysler 300, there <em>is</em> a 500 mile break in period&quot;, Dave mentioned to Al and Marge as he gave them the 2nd set of keys, and advised them to read the owner&#039;s manual.<br />That meant refraining from fast driving and quick take-offs until the mechanical parts seat as the car breaks in after 500 miles.<br />Dave did give Al and Marge some business cards (not in full colour back in those days) and asked, &quot; If you know anyone who&#039;s in the market for a new car, I&#039;d appreciate it if you&#039;d give them one of my cards&quot;.<br />&quot;Okay&quot;, Al replied.<br />&quot;We certainly will&quot;, Marge added.<br />Upon leaving, Al, Marge and the cubs bid Dave Pine Martin a good evening as Dave thanked them for their business. <br />On the way back to Duran, Al led the way back driving the Chrysler 300 with Marge and the cubs following in the Plymouth Fury wagon. Their speed was kept between 45 and 50 mph to allow for the breaking in peroid of the Plymouth... Marge was looking forward to the 500 mile break in period being over so she can try out that 395 Golden Commando V-8... Like her husband Al, she enjoys fast driving too.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />On the way back, the cubs would climb over the seats to take turns trying out that rear facing, extra, fold up seat.<br />Marge eventually told the cubs, &quot;Let&#039;s not be climbing on the seats. These are really nice seats and not as tough as the seats in our other car&quot;.<br />The station wagon had the optional soft cushion seats that Al and Marge ordered, and doesn&#039;t take a lot of being climbed over. Marge said to the cubs if they want to swap places, she can stop the car and let them step out and back in the car the proper way instead of climbing over seats. <br />The car&#039;s radio also had a sound of high quality in which music played on it had a rich tone. At one point however, the station the car&#039;s radio was tuned to gave a news report of a tropical depression around the Carribean. The news reporter continued to say if the system became a tropical storm, it would be named Tropical Storm Brenda.<br />&quot;Did they skip giving a <em><strong>male</strong></em> name to a storm?&quot;, Clarence asked, remembering that the most recent Hurricane in the Atlantic two weeks earlier was named Abby.<br />&quot;I thought you knew they don&#039;t give male names to hurricanes&quot;, Marge said to Clarence.<br />&quot;<em><strong>That</strong></em> would be crazy&quot;, Rex said.<br />&quot;Yeah...Hurricane Johnny&quot;, Jed jested as everyone except for Clarence chuckled.<br />&quot;In 2017, there was two hurricanes with male names&quot;, Clarence said. &quot; One was Harvey that hit Texas, and another one was Jose&quot;.<br />&quot;There <em><strong>were</strong></em> two hurricanes, not was&quot;, Marge began with correcting Clarence&#039;s grammar, then continued, &quot; And it wouldn&#039;t be was or were anyway. Remember, in this day and time the 21st Century is still in the future&quot;.<br />&quot;Well. <em><strong>Will</strong></em> be&quot;, Clarence acknowledged.<br />&quot;So you say they&#039;ll be giving male names to tropical storms and hurricanes 60 years from now?&quot;, Marge asked Clarence.<br />&quot;That&#039;s weird&quot;, Donna exclaimed.<br />&quot;They actually gave...I mean <em><strong>will</strong></em> give, both male and female names to those kind of storms in my day and time&quot;, said Clarence.<br />&quot;That&#039;s the first I&#039;ve ever heard of that&quot;, Marge replied.<br />&quot;I&#039;ve thought they&#039;ve <em><strong>always</strong></em> done that&quot;, Clarence mentioned.<br />&quot;No. Not in this day and time. It&#039;s always been female names&quot;, Marge concluded.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&nbsp;<br /><span style=\"color: #c4a000;\"><strong><span class='font_title'>______________________________</span></strong></span><br /><span style=\"color: #204a87;\"><strong>Shortly after the family returned home with now having two cars,</strong></span> Frank and Wanda Coyote&#039;s older daughter, Dotty, was the first neighbor to notice the new station wagon.<br />&quot;Oh my gosh! That&#039;s the new station wagon you said you were getting!&quot;, Dotty exclaimed. &quot;It&#039;s a really nice car! So cool!&quot;<br />&quot;How ya <strong><em>like</em></strong> it?!&quot;, Donna asked Dotty.<br />&quot;Oh, a lot&quot;, Dotty answered as she was eyeing the car over.<br />&quot;It&#039;s the gift Al promised me back during my birthday&quot;, Marge said to Dotty.<br />&quot;I always wanted Marge and the cubs to have transportation while I was at work&quot;, Al added.<br />&quot;That makes two of us who wanted that&quot;, Marge said as she gave Al a kiss.<br />&quot;We won&#039;t be stuck at home anymore when Dad&#039;s at work&quot;, Rex added.<br />Older brother Jed mentioned, &quot;I can&#039;t wait until I can get a driver&#039;s license&quot;.<br />&quot;Me too&quot;, Clarence added.<br />&quot;You got several more years yet, you two&quot;, Al said to Jed and Clarence with a smile.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&quot;Let me go get my mom and dad here&quot;, Dotty said, as she knew that her parents Frank and Wanda, and her younger sister Cheryl would like to see the new wagon.<br />Al, Marge and the cubs continued conversation out by the cars until Frank and Wanda came walking over.<br />&quot;Wow! Nice car&quot;, Frank commented as he walked over, using his cane due to his old work related leg injury.<br />&quot;It&#039;s so gorgous&quot;, said Frank&#039;s wife, Wanda.<br />&quot;Oh wow! That&#039;s nice&quot;, said 8 year old Cheryl.<br />&quot;I should have been a scientist&quot;, Frank jested as he and everyone chuckled.<br />&quot;In <strong><em>my</em></strong> day and time, they don&#039;t have cars like this&quot;, Clarence said.<br />&quot;I&#039;ve heard about the cars you said will be around 60 years from now&quot;, Frank replied. &quot;Doesn&#039;t sound like there&#039;s much to them&quot;.<br />&quot;Well, Clarence tells us those cars will have more gadgets and accessories&quot;, Al mentioned to Frank.<br />&quot;<strong><em>That</em></strong> would be a plus anyway&quot;, Frank admitted.<br />Clarence mentioning about being from the 21st Century was of no consequence being that Frank and Wanda&#039;s family already knew Clarence was from that day and time.<br />Of course, Cheryl went over to Clarence where she and he snuggled up together... After all, they have been in love since not long after Clarence arrived to 1960. <br />&quot;When we get back to the house, I&#039;ll give Jerald and Cindy a call to come over and see your new wagon&quot;, Frank said to Al and Marge.<br />Everyone talked a while longer before Frank, Wanda and Dotty walked back to their house, which it was already dark out. Cheryl wanted to come inside Al and Marge&#039;s house to be with Clarence a while, thus Al, Marge, Frank and Wanda were okay with that.<br />Back at Frank and Wanda&#039;s house, Frank phoned their son and daughter in law, Jerald and Cindy, to come over and see Al and Marge&#039;s new station wagon. <br />&quot;When Jerald answered the phone, &quot;Hello&quot;, Frank knew Jerald and Cindy were home. <br />Being there were no cell phones back then, &quot; Were are you at&quot;, was not a normally asked question when someone answered a phone.<br />&quot;Hello, Jerald&quot;, Frank greeted.<br />&quot;Oh hello, Dad&quot;, Jerald replied.<br />&quot;Hey listen up. Al and Marge finally got that Plymouth station wagon they ordered&quot;, Frank said to his son. &quot;Wanna come over and see it?&quot;.<br />&quot;Sure, Dad&quot;, Jerald answered, then said, &quot;Hold on a bit&quot;.<br />Then Frank could hear over the phone Jerald calling Cindy, &quot;Cindy. Al and Marge got their new station wagon&quot;.<br />&quot;Oh that&#039;s wonderful&quot;, Frank could hear Cindy reply.<br />Then Frank could hear Jerald tell Cindy, &quot; Were being invited over to see it&quot;.<br />&quot;Oh love to&quot;, Cindy replied.<br />Then Jerald came back on the phone and said to his dad, &quot;Cindy and I will be right over&quot;.<br />The conversation went another two minutes before they hung up. <br />About 20 minutes later, Jerald and Cindy came pulling up to Jerald&#039;s Mom and Dad&#039;s house in that old 1952 Pontiac of theirs...And that amber, Indian wolf head, hood ornament still lit up with the headlights at night.<br /><table style='display: inline-block;'><tr><td>\r\n\t\t\t<div class='widget_imageFromSubmission ' style='width: 187.5px; height: 127.5px; position: relative; margin: 0px auto;'>\r\n\t\t\t\t<a href='/s/1979376-p3-' style='border: 0px;'><img src='https://nl1.ib.metapix.net/files/preview/2855/2855458_moyomongoose_1952_pontiac_furry_b.jpg' width='187.5' height='127.5' title='Clarence Coyote and Project Courier - Part 27 - The New Station Wagon - SFW Version [Page 3] by moyomongoose' alt='Clarence Coyote and Project Courier - Part 27 - The New Station Wagon - SFW Version [Page 3] by moyomongoose' style='position: relative; border: 0px; ' class='shadowedimage' /><div title='Submission has 3 pages' style='width: 188.5px; height: 43px; position: absolute; bottom: 0px; right: -1px; background-image: url(https://nl1.ib.metapix.net/images80/overlays/multipage_large.png); background-position: bottom right; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-size: 62.5%'></div><div title='Submission has 3 pages' style=' position: absolute; bottom: 0px; right: 2px; color: #333333; font-size: 10pt;'>+3</div></a>\r\n\t\t\t</div>\r\n\t\t\t</td></tr></table><br />When Frank and the rest of the family came out to greet them, Jerald commented , &quot; We just now noticed their new car as we were coming in here&quot;.<br />&quot;It <em>is</em> nice looking&quot;, Cindy added.<br />&quot;Let&#039;s go over and let Jerald and Cindy have a better look&quot;, Wanda suggested to Frank. &quot;I&#039;m sure they didn&#039;t have a good look just driving by it at night&quot;.<br />Frank agreed with Wanda as Dotty came out to greet her older brother and sister-in-law. Cheryl was still with Clarence over at Al and Marge&#039;s house. Thus everyone proceeded walking over to Al and Marge&#039;s place to see the new car. <br />After Frank knocked on the front door, Al, Marge, their cubs (which also includes Clarence) and Cheryl greeted Jerald and Cindy. Frank mentioned that Jerald and Cindy wanted to see the new station wagon as Wanda and Dotti affirmed.<br />&quot;Marge. What do you say we let them have a ride&quot;, Al asked Marge.<br />&quot;I&#039;m all for that that&quot;, Marge said as she went to get the keys.<br />As everyone made their way to the station wagon, Cindy commented, &quot; My goodness. That&#039;s such a lovely car&quot;.<br />&quot;It sure is a cool looking ride&quot;, Jerald added.<br />Being a 9 passenger wagon, Al and Marge were going out on the demo ride with Marge driving, Frank and Wanda were coming along, Jerald and Cindy were also riding which made six, and Dotty and Cheryl made eight...Cheryl wanted her boy friend Clarence to come along, so that made nine. There was no room for Jed, Rex and Donna...But then, <strong><em>they</em></strong> had a turn riding home in it from the dealership. And back in those days, it wasn&#039;t dangerous to leave cubs home on their own for a while. Thus there was no problem with Jed, Rex and Donna waiting at home that evening.<br />&quot;I never felt car seats this soft and so cushion like before&quot;, Wanda said as everyone was getting into the car.<br />&quot;These are optional soft cushion seats&quot;, Al replied.<br />&quot;It sure is nice&quot;, Frank affirmed.<br />Marge drove...Al sat on the front passenger&#039;s side...Dotty sat between Al and Marge...And going from left to right on the back seat were Jerald, Cindy, Wanda and Frank...Those four adults sat four on the back seat to let Clarence and Cheryl have the very back, fold up, cargo area seat to their selves...Besides, as big as cars were in those days, four adults on a bench seat wasn&#039;t as bad as it would sound with the smaller cars in the 21st Century 50 and 60 years later...And the tailgate was opened to let Clarence and Cheryl in as the rule was &quot;no climbing over the seats&quot;.<br />They decided to travel north on Highway 54 to Vaughn to show the car to Cindy&#039;s parents, Ed&nbsp;&nbsp;and Charlot and to younger brother, Scotty.<br />That Plymouth station wagon rode smooth and nice, yet had precise feel of control with it&#039;s state of the art, front, torsion bar suspension. And where ever the road dipped a little, there was no bobbing as the car was leaving away from the dip in the road...Most heavier GM cars were especially bad for bobbing past bumps and dips back in the day.&nbsp;&nbsp; <br />&quot;This car <strong><em>does</em></strong> ride nice&quot;, said Jerald. <br />&quot;<strong><em>My</em></strong> car would have bounced a time or two coming off that dip back there&quot;, Frank acknowledged, referring to his 1955, six cylinder, Chevy wagon.<br />&quot;It feels like you&#039;re <strong><em>gliding</em></strong> along&quot;, Wanda said.<br />&quot;I know Mom and Dad will be impressed with this car&quot;, said Cindy.<br />Along the way, Marge had mentioned what Clarence had said about how both male and female names will be used to name tropical storms and hurricanes...Which needless to say, being the day and time, everyone found that a bit strange.<br />&quot;Sounds a bit peculiar&quot;, said Al. &quot; But I guess that&#039;s something that will come about in the 21st Century&quot;.<br />&quot;There was a Hurricane...&quot;, Clarence began.<br />&quot;<em><strong>Will</strong></em> be&quot;, Marge corrected Clarence in mid sentence.<br />&quot;Oh yeah&quot;, Clarence replied. &quot;They&#039;ll be a Hurricane David in 19...79 I think it is&quot;.<br />&quot;Sounds like that change you guessed at is going to be only 19 years from now&quot;, Frank said to Al.<br />&quot;Looks that way&quot;, Al replied to Frank.<br />As they continued along Highway 54 to the home of Cindy&#039;s folks in Vaughn, the conversation shifted to other things discussed by Dotty and the adults. <br />Finally they arrived to Ed and Charlot Coyote&#039;s house in Vaughn. And when Cindy&#039;s parents, Ed and Charlot, and younger brother, Scotty, saw Al and Marge&#039;s new station wagon, they were truly impressed. <br />&quot;<em><strong>WOW!</strong></em> Can <em><strong>we</strong></em> get a car like that?!&quot;, Cindy&#039;s younger brother, Scotty, exclaimed.<br />&quot;Can you pay for a car like that?&quot;, Charlot asked her cub son as everyone chuckled.<br />&quot;I guess not&quot;, Scotty answered.<br />&quot;There&#039;s nothing wrong with the car we have&quot;, Ed said to Scotty, then complimented to Al and Marge, &quot;Boy, that <em><strong>is</strong></em> a nice car&quot;.<br />After all, even though operating a switcher locomotive for the Santa Fe Railroad yard in Vaughn does pay well, it still doesn&#039;t pay as well as being a scientist and design engineer for Horizon Innovations laboratories.<br />&quot;That <em><strong>is</strong></em> a beautiful car&quot;, Charlot commented.<br />Ed and Charlot invited the others in the house for coffee or tea...and soda for the cubs, Cheryl and Clarence.<br />Everyone socialized for a few hours, as it was also nice for Ed and Charlot having their daughter and son-in-law over for a visit...Eventually, it was getting really late at night and time to be getting on back home. Thus Ed and Charlot, as well as the others, bid good night...Ed and Charlot&#039;s, son, Scotty, was already asleep in bed for the night.<br />So; Al, Marge, Frank, Wanda, Dotty, Jerald, Cindy, Clarence and Cheryl got back into the station wagon to head back to Duran. Clarence and Cheryl were tired as it was late at night, thus they both slept on the way back home.<br />Back in their home community of Duran, Marge and Al dropped Frank, Wanda and Cheryl off at their house before they rode a few doors down back at their own house...They lived only a few doors down, but it did save some walking for Frank with the leg injury he had from a drunk driver who entered a work zone when he use to work for the state highway department.<br />Back at Al and Marge&#039;s house, it was past midnight when Jerald and Cindy bid good night with the others just before leaving in their 1952 Pontiac to go back to their place. <br />Just before Al and Marge went to bed, they made sure Jed, Rex, Clarence and Donna were also in bed for the night.<br />Almost two hours after everyone had gotten to bed, the 2:07 am, southbound passenger train sped by on the railroad tracks that ran through the small community of Duran, blowing it&#039;s horn for the Route 3 crossing as the crossing bells began clanging.&nbsp;&nbsp;Twelve seconds later, the sound could be heard of the locomotives speeding by, and the rapid clacking of the wheels of the passenger cars until the train had passed.<br /><a href=\"https://youtu.be/uNwAEptoNl0?t=80\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://youtu.be/uNwAEptoNl0?t=80</a> (Unlike in the video, it was one of the two tone orange, Southern Pacific, passenger trains).<br /><table style='display: inline-block;'><tr><td>\r\n\t\t\t<div class='widget_imageFromSubmission ' style='width: 187.5px; height: 68.75px; position: relative; margin: 0px auto;'>\r\n\t\t\t\t<a href='/s/1979178' style='border: 0px;'><img src='https://nl1.ib.metapix.net/files/preview/2855/2855121_moyomongoose_train_7.jpg' width='187.5' height='68.75' title='Southern Pacific Passenger Train - Year 1960 - Summer Version by moyomongoose' alt='Southern Pacific Passenger Train - Year 1960 - Summer Version by moyomongoose' style='position: relative; border: 0px; ' class='shadowedimage' /><div title='Submission has 4 pages' style='width: 188.5px; height: 43px; position: absolute; bottom: 0px; right: -1px; background-image: url(https://nl1.ib.metapix.net/images80/overlays/multipage_large.png); background-position: bottom right; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-size: 62.5%'></div><div title='Submission has 4 pages' style=' position: absolute; bottom: 0px; right: 2px; color: #333333; font-size: 10pt;'>+4</div></a>\r\n\t\t\t</div>\r\n\t\t\t</td></tr></table><br />As things turned out, it has been a happy day, and a happy evening for everyone. <br />&nbsp;And from now on, when Al is at work, Marge and the cubs will have a car to go places outside of Duran in. Also when everyone goes out on excursions as a family, a family of six no longer has to make do with a seating arrangement designed for four occupants...which was only a slight oversight on Al and Marge&#039;s decision to go with a Chrysler 300 back in January before Clarence came into the picture a month later.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /><span style=\"color: #ce5c00;\"><strong><span class='font_title'>To be continued.</span></strong></span><br /></span>",
