"writing": "Night of August 19th, 2018...Shortly after Clarence's return to 2018.\n\n [hugethumb]2645044[/hugethumb]\n\nAt the Claymont Coyote resident, Sheryl's birthday party was well underway. After everyone sang Happy Birthday, some of Sheryl's grand cubs helped her blow out the 67 candles on her cake...And it was a really big cake in anticipation of so many attending the party.\nThe main center of party activities were in the dining and living room areas inside. The double entrance doors of the doublewide were propped open being there were some who preferred to sit out on the deck. Jed and two of his adult sons took a place at tables on the deck. A couple Jed's grand cubs also came out to the deck.\n\"Here you guys are\", Jed's wife said as she brought out cake, ice cream and sodas to them.\n\"Oh, thank you, dear\", Jed thanked his wife.\nJed's wife then joined them out on the deck.\nRex and his wife were also already out on the deck, and were reminiscing old times with Jed and his wife.\nGerald and Cindy eventually came out to the deck with sodas and plates of ice cream, cake and chips.\n\"How's it going everyone\", Gerald greeted as he and Cindy took a seat at a table.\n\"We've been talking about old times\", Jed replied.\nAfter Dotty and Buddy had been on the deck a while, they decided to go back inside.\nDonna and her husband remained inside, as well as Beverly and her husband.\nNot long afterward, one of Dotty and Buddy's sons and his wife came out to join them.\n\"Nice night, Dad\", Buddy's son mentioned.\n\"That's why your mom and I decided to come out here\", Buddy replied.\nNot long afterward, one of Buddy and Dotty's grand daughters came out to the deck complaining, \"Mom. Dad. Jason's teasing me\".\nBuddy and Dotty's son told his cub daughter, \"Go back in and tell Jason I said he better stop\".\nHis wife added, \"Tell Jason he's getting a paddling if he doesn't behave\".\n\"Okay Mom\", the grand daughter replied then went back inside to tell her older brother Jason what Mom and Dad said.\n\"Reminds of when you all were cubs\", Buddy said to his son.\n\"Oh how well do I remember\", Buddy and Dotty's son replied. \nAt some point, Danny Otter and his wife Lidia showed up to the party.\n\"Hey, Danny. Lidia. Long time no see\", Buddy greeted them.\n\"Oh, we've been around\", Danny Otter replied as he and Lidia made their way up the steps to the outside deck.\nDanny and Lidia then went on inside. \n\"Hi there. Glad to have you over\", Charley greeted Danny and Lidia. \n\"We heard Clarence is back\", Danny replied. \n\"He had arrived at 9 o'clock tonight\", Charley informed Danny. \n\"You must be Danny\", Clarence said to Danny Otter. \n\"That's me, 58 years older from when you saw me last\", Danny replied. \nLidia mentioned to Clarence, \"The last time we saw you, you were in the time machine getting ready to leave 1960\".\nMany of those on the deck would come inside, and there were others who inside who decided to come out on the deck for a while. \nAl and Marge even came out to the deck to socialize with Jed, Rex and their wives a bit. \nBefore long, Charley and Alice come out to the deck to announce that Sheryl is about to open her presents, thus everyone headed on inside.\nThere were lots of nice present Sheryl received, and the presents were many being there were so many who attended the party.\n\"This is without a doubt the best birthday party I've ever had\", Sheryl proclaimed.\nIn the present her husband, Dean, got her, was a premium quality house coat she had always wanted.\n\"Oh, thank you, Dear\", Sheryl thanked Dean.\nIt was a black coat with large bold pattern of green tropical leaves and large pink and yellow flowers.\n\"Oh, that is nice\", Sheryl's mom, Wanda, complimented.\nThe next present was from Sheryl and Dean's offsprings and their spouses...Being that Sheryl and Dean were big fans of the music group Owl City, they got her several of their albums on CD she did not yet own.\n\"Oh this is awesome\", Sheryl thanked her offsprings and in-laws. \"Thank you\".\nThe present Al and Marge gave was a small collection of high quality jewelry, which Sheryl really liked.\nCharley and Alice got a camera for Sheryl they knew she always wanted.\nWanda got Sheryl a $300 Target gift card.\n\"Oh, thank you, Mom\", Sheryl proclaimed.\nDanny and Lidia Otter didn't have time to shop for a gift, so they slipped a $100 in a birthday card for Sheryl. \nAmong the many other gifts everyone else gave, the grand cubs even had little trinket gifts for her. Realizing that cubs don't have the money to buy an elaborate gift, Sheryl thanked the cubs as though the gifts had been expensive. \nOf course, Clarence had to admit to Sheryl, \"Being I was coming back through time, I'm afraid I didn't get a chance to get a present to give you\".\nSheryl assured Clarence, \"Your being here with me is the best present of all, Clarence\".\n\"Awe, that's so sweet\", Alice mentioned.\n\"Oh wow...Okay\", Clarence replied, feeling much better.\nThere were also the birthday cards to open.\nDean asked Charley, \"Do you have a CD player?\"\n\"In the entertainment center\", Charley replied.\n\"What do you say we put some of your Owl City CDs on?\", Dean suggested to Sheryl, then said to Charley, \"If that's okay with Alice and you\".\n\"I see no problem with that\", Charley said as Alice agreed.\n\"I'd like to start with the first song, Dreams Don't Turn to Dust\", Sheryl said.\n\"Oh, that's an awesome song\", Donna mentioned.\nSheryl then pawed the CD to Charley to put on the entertainment center...The first song being Dreams Don't Turn to Dust.\n https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5nZjqdfAlY\nEveryone enjoyed the music as Sheryl opened her birthday cards.\n\"Wow! That song's really neato\", one of Beverly's grand daughters proclaimed.\nAfter the song finished playing, several of the grand cubs began to argue which song to play next.\nWhen the parents told their cubs not to be arguing, Charley mentioned, \"This is Sheryl's birthday. She should decide what song she want's next\".\n\"Thank you, Charley\", Sheryl said, then decided, \"I'd like to play Fireflies next\"\nThus Fireflies it is.\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1TbKOdekw8\nLater the next song Sheryl chose was Angels\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bFV3ZPk_xw\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d4Kj2u4VN8\nAnd as Sheryl had mentioned earlier, this was the best birthday she has ever had.\nAnother song played was Shooting Star.\n https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ROX1ajxRQY\nAfter a while, the party festivities finally wound down. And at that point, everyone agreed to stay late and talk about old times. Several of those attending the party asked Sheryl if she could continue playing her CDs, which she agreed to. However, at this time the music volume was turned down real low in order for everyone to hold conversation.\n\"I'm sure Clarence has a lot to tell these cubs about the year 1960\", Poindexter suggested.\n\"You bet. I sure do\", Clarence replied.\n\"Yea, I've always heard that was a cool day and time\", Jack mentioned, then asked \"What was it really like?\"\n\"Was it really as rad as the TV shows show it?\", one of Beverly's grand sons asked.\n\"Well, you cubs did see the pictures Clarence brought back with him\", Charley mentioned.\n\"The cars were like in the pictures\", Clarence interjected. \"And there was really modern looking furniture back then\".\n\"Al and I had some really contemporary styled furniture back then\", Marge added.\n\"Some TV commercials were funny too\", Clarence said.\n\"I remember they aired some real dillies\", Jed affirmed.\n\"I've always liked the one with Bucky Beaver\", Donna said.\n\"That was toothpaste commercial\", Rex added. \"I remember that one\".\n\"Oh...And you can get a brand new car for two thousand dollars back then\", Clarence said.\nAll the cubs were in awe when they heard that.\n\"Wow! I wish a car could fit in that time machine\", said Rhonda. \"I'd go back to 1960, buy a new car, then bring it back here to 2018\".\n\"It looks like a motorcycle might fit it it\", one of Sheryl's grand sons suggested.\n\"Well, two thousand dollars would buy a bottom of the line new car with no options back then\", Al set the record straight.\n\"And two thousand back then was like twenty thousand is today\", Donna's husband added.\n\"I remember we paid almost six thousand for our 1960 Chrysler 300\", Marge said. \"Though that was a high price car\".\n\"Our 2009 Chrysler 300 cost us $48,000 when we bought it brand new\", Al added.\nOne of Dotty and Buddy's grand sons suggested, \"I bet it would be cool to go back to 1960 in the time machine, and bring back one of those Vespa scooters like the beatnik animals use to ride around on. That would be so cool, Dude\".\n\"I'd still go an bring back a cool motorcycle\", Sheryl's grand cub proclaimed.\n\"No you don't\", Sheryl sternly admonished her grand son.\n\"Let's not get anymore madcap ideas about traveling around in that time machine shall we\", Poindexter Fox announced to the cubs.\n\"That's right\", Charley added.\n\"And you cubs need to stay away from that machine too\", Al further announced.\nSeveral of the parents then warned their cubs they'd get paddled if they so much as crossed the highway to where that time machine was.\nPoindexter then mentioned, \"Authorities from the Roswell International Air Center will be here in a few hours with a truck and a crane to come get that machine out of here\".\n\"I wouldn't doubt they'll have some questions to ask Clarence\", Al mentioned to Poindexter.\n\"I believe they will\", Poindexter surmised, then mentioned, \"They had a lot of questions they asked other scientists and myself after Clarence had left Roswell in the machine on February 9th\". \n\"You cubs will have to be satisficed seeing the pictures and hearing the accounts of 1960\", Charley reminded the cubs. \"1960 was not your day and time to be in...It was even before my time in fact\". \n\"Not only that. There was no internet back then. And no cell phones\", Clarence added.\n\"Yikes! That's a bummer\", one of the cubs exclaimed as other cubs agreed.\n\"So you see?\", Charley mentioned to the cubs. \"You do have cool stuff in this day and time\".\nRhonda mentioned, \"Speaking of which. Clarence's laptop still hasn't finished doing updates\".\n\"It hasn't had internet service to do updates for more than six months\", Charley reminded Rhonda.\n\"It's going to take a while\", Alice added.\n\"I remember us drawing pictures on that very same laptop when we were cubs\", Donna mentioned.\n\"I remember that too\", Sheryl added.\n\"I remember the drawing Ryan Lynx made of himself on his go-kart\", Rex said.\n\"He did a great job on that too\", Jed complimented.\n\"By the way. How has old Ryan Lynx been doing?\", Sheryl asked. \"I haven't heard from him in a while\".\n\"Cindy and I got a phone call from Ryan and his wife a week ago\", Gerald said. \"One of their grand sons plans to go to college after he graduates high school\".\n\"They still got that nice place in Long Beach, California?\", Dotty asked.\n\"Still do\", Gerald answered his sister.\n\"We should go up and see them some time\", Dotty said to Buddy.\n\"With the Air Force retirement Ryan Lynx gets, I'm sure he and his wife can well afford that place\", Buddy added.\n\"Randy Fox is still the assistant pastor at our church in Santa Rosa\", Cindy mentioned.\n\"The same church we were married in back in 1960\", Gerald said to Cindy.\n\"Warren Brown Bear was pastor then, rest his soul\", Cindy added.\nCindy then asked Clarence, \"You remember Skip Raccoon?\n\"I've heard of him when I was in 1960\", Clarence acknowledged. \"But I never actually had a chance to know him\".\n\"Skip became an airline pilot\", Cindy said to Clarence. \"And he put 30 years in before he retired\".\n\"Wow, cool! Flying those big airplanes!\", Clarence proclaimed. \"That must have been awesome!\"\n\"I hear Skip and Sophia live well now days from Skip's airline retirement pension\", Gerald added.\n\"Ryan Lynx's sister, Janice, did well too\", Cindy said to Clarence. \"She put 25 years in with the Torrance County School System as an elementary school teacher. And her husband put in 30 years as a Torrance County sheriff's deputy\".\n\"You know the county won't go broke\", Gerald added. \"So their retirement pensions are guaranteed\".\n\"Oh, by the way. What ever happed to Gail Skunk?\", Clarence asked.\n\"Oh my gosh. Her\", Sheryl exclaimed. \"Gail Skunk's married life has been a train wreck from day one\".\n\"Yup\", said Dean Coyote. \"Three divorces in her life time. And each one caused by her infidelity\".\n\"I hear she's starting to go through her 4th divorce now\", Wanda said.\n\"So she hasn't been loyal to this last husband either\", Sheryl exclaimed.\n\"You know, Sheryl. I don't think Gail would even know the meaning of loyalty if it bit her on the nose\", Wanda said.\n\"That's a shame\", Dean added.\n\"I remember when Al and I heard about Gail Skunk's first divorce in 1979\", Marge explained. \"She and her first husband had two cubs. Custody of both cubs was awarded to her ex-husband, and Gail being denied visitation rights\".\n\"Gail never saw those cubs again\", Al said. \"Judge Badger told her right there in the courtroom she was not fit to be a parent\".\n\"That was the year before Judge Badger retired\", Jed mentioned. \"And to this day, I still could hardly believe Gail actually hired a lawyer to challenge Judge Badger's custody decision after he retired\".\n\"Gail's custody challenge was shot down in a heart beat too\", Rex mentioned. \"Judge Douglass Johnson Fox wasn't playing around\".\n\"Judge Douglass Johnson Fox\", said Gerald Coyote. \"He's the same judge who the pitbulls Biff, Richie and Gaston stood before for pulling that fire alarm at school just before our senior class graduated\".\n\"I remember that\", said Rex. \"I was in the 3rd grade. Clarence was also in the same class with me\".\n\"Boy I bet ya Biff, Richie and Gaston spent their lives being janitors or ditch diggers\", 8 year old Clarence proclaimed.\n\"No. They never lived long enough to be janitors and ditch diggers\", Gerald correct Clarence.\n\"They met a bad end four months after you left 1960 in the time machine\", Cindy informed Clarence.\n\"And it was really bad too\", Marge added, then mentioned, \"This coming Christmas Eve will make it 58 years ago\".\nLidia Otter began the story, \"Danny and I were at The Hop on the night before Christmas Eve\".\n\"Carl and Suzan Beaver were with us too\", Danny Otter interjected.\n\"Yes they were. It was a double date that night\", Lidia affirmed. \"I remember we were parked under the car hop canopy, and dining in the car. And that jukebox song Carl and Suzan liked so well playing over the canopy speakers. \n\"Which song was that?\", Danny asked Lidia. \"Mary Jo wasn't it?\"\n\"No. It was School Time. Remember? Mary Jo started playing when Roger ran them off\", Lidia replied. \nDanny replied to Lidia, \"You're right. I remember that now\".\nLidia added, \"And we were having jumbo shrimp and onion rings with milkshakes that night. \n\nSchool Time by Vinny and Kenny. \nhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AOY_hmSIJ58&pp=ygUPdmlubnkgYW5kIGtlbm55\n\n\"I remember how their jumbo shrimp and onion rings were the best ever\", Danny added.\n\"Oh they really were\", Lidia agreed, then continued, \"Well, later that evening, Biff and Richie came cruising up in their dad's '59 Cadillac. Gaston was with them and so were their girlfriends. We could tell they've been drinking\".\n\"Everything was peaceful until that bunch showed up\", Danny mentioned. \n\"I'll say\", Lidia replied. \"The first thing Biff did was reach out from the driver's window and slap one of the car hops on the butt\".\n\"It was Beth Fox. I remember\", Danny acknowledged. \"And she was really scorned at Biff over it, and at the rest of them too for thinking it's funny\".\n\"Roger Irish Setter, being The Hop's owner, didn't like it either when Beth told him about it\", Lidia said. \"I remember Beth was carrying a tray of ice cream treats to a raccoon family in a car backed in beside them when it happened. She should have made that bunch in that Cadillac wear that ice cream\".\n\"She should have\", Danny agreed, then mentioned, \"I'm sure you remember how Biff Pitbull then started shooting his mouth off how his dad's Cadillac could beat my Studebaker Goldenhawk\".\n\"I remember that well. The ravings of a drunk pitbull\", Lidia added. \n\n1958 Stubebaker Goldenhawk:\nhttps://www.google.com/search?q=1958+studebaker+golden+hawk&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiJgdqCzNf2AhVhTTABHRkeC4UQ_AUoA3oECAEQBQ&biw=1366&bih=625&dpr=1#imgrc=pQiZBYW-gYE5MM\n\n1959 Cadillac Coupe-deville:\nhttps://www.google.com/search?q=1959+cadillac+coupe+deville&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwje_cGfzNf2AhWZZ98KHZ-GCvMQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=1959+cadillac&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQARgCMggIABCABBCxAzIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDoECAAQQzoECAAQGDoHCAAQsQMQQ1D1CFjYRGDNZmgBcAB4AoABb4gB2BaSAQQzNy4ymAEAoAEBqgELZ3dzLXdpei1pbWewAQDAAQE&sclient=img&ei=96M4Yp6mI5nP_QafjaqYDw&bih=625&biw=1366&hl=en#imgrc=ZzHeayksHG6NGM\n\n\"I remember how Biff kept calling my car a kiddie car\", Danny said to Clarence. \"And Gaston making a wisecrack he could outrun my car on his tricycle\".\n\"What did you tell them?\", Clarence asked Danny.\n\"I asked Gaston 'That's your only tidbit of wisdom from the peanut gallery?' \", Danny answered Clarence as everyone laughed. \n\"That one shut Gaston up\", Lidia said. \"And they all laughed when Richie said he didn't know Gaston owned a tricycle\".\n\"Yea, that bunch lacked a lot in the common sense department\", Al mentioned.\n\"And how\", Marge agreed.\n\"Biff then started challenging me to a road race\", Danny continued telling Clarence. \"And I told him put some money on it and we'll find out who has a kiddie car\".\n\"Then Roger Irish Setter, came out to the car hop canopy\", Lidia said, then reminded Danny, \"That was when the jukebox began playing Mary Jo\".\n\nhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5Tg9lDdECEs&pp=ygUMTWFyeSBqbyAxOTU4\n\n\"The sparks really flew when Roger began running them off \", Danny said.\n\"I bet Roger was really mad...and didn't want a race going on either\", Clarence said.\n\"Having a road race wasn't an issue with Roger\", Danny Otter informed Clarence. \"It was about Biff slapping Beth. Plus the fact, Biff and his bunch had been kicked out of The Hop earlier in the year and told not to come back\".\n\"It was for that time they tripped that little cougar girl on the dance floor. Remember?\", Jed reminded Clarence.\n\"Oh yea. That's right\", Clarence affirmed, then mentioned, \"That was also mean of them too\".\n\"Biff got argumentive when the raccoon family parked beside them testified about him slapping Beth Fox\", Danny mentioned. \"Roger then warned Biff and his bunch he was about to phone the Sheriff if they didn't leave\".\nLidia mentioned to Clarence and his family , \"I still can't believe it to this day. But that's when Gaston was about to raise that open 5th of Old Crow up at Roger. But Roxanne and Aiva on the back seat with him stopped him in time\".\n\"What's Old Crow?\", Clarence's sister, Rhonda, asked.\n\"Whisky\", Buddy answered Rhonda. \"Cheap whisky at that. It hasn't been around for ages though\".\n\"I believe Gaston was the stupidest of all of them\", Gerald added. \nDanny continued, \"Well, Biff and them finally got the bright idea of parking across the highway from The Hop, which technically Roger couldn't do anything about it as long as they were not on the premises\".\nDanny then told of how he drove his car over to where Biff and them were, and that's where they waged a $100 bet on who has the faster car.\nLidia recalled, \"Carl Beaver recommended having Orville Hound hold onto the bet money until the race was over to keep things honest. Orville was there at The Hop that night\".\n\"Biff in his classic demeanor agreed and said 'Orville's a goodie two shoe. I know he's not gonna rook any of us' \", Danny affirmed. \"I agreed too, so Carl went back across the highway to The Hop to get Orville\".\nLidia said, \"While Carl was going to get Orville, I'll never forget what Gaston remarked when Biff got onto him about almost raising that whisky bottle at Roger\".\n\"Oh yea. Ha. Gaston said he was going to offer Roger a swig of that whisky\", Danny recalled. \nGerald added, \"Like I said, I believe Gaston was the stupidest of all of them\".\n\"They've been drinking\", Lidia affirmed. \"And Gaston was big time two sheets to the wind\".\n\"I remember the exact words Biff said to him too\", Danny said, then quoted Biff's words, \"Were you trying to get that son of a bitch to call the state police on us for an open booze bottle in the car or something?' \".\nDanny then continued, \"When Carl and Orville came over, Gaston started back on that kick about beating my car on his tricycle. That's when Carl Beaver asked him 'Hey, Gaston. Wanna race my skateboard?' \".\n\"That's also when you asked Gaston why not park his tricycle in a toilet and get a free trike wash\", Lidia reminded Danny. \n\"Oh yea. We all laughed over that one, including Biff and them\", Danny replied. \"Then Orville Hound asking Gaston 'A little old for a tricycle aren't ya?' \".\nGerald mentioned, \"Truth is, Gaston didn't even own a tricycle. He had long since outgrown them\".\nGerald's wife, Cindy, remarked as everyone laughed, \"It depends on what you call growing up\".\nBuddy added, \"Yup. Some grow old, but don't grow up\", which got another round of laughter. \nLidia then said to Clarence and his family, \"About that time, Biff was getting anxious to get the race going\".\n\"I even remember Biff's younger brother, Richie, saying 'Hey, cats. Let's get this show on the road' \", Danny recalled. \"With that said, Biff and I each gave our $100 wager to Orville Hound to hold in escrow until after the race\". \n\"That's like $1,000 each now days\", Gerald interjected. \nDanny continued explaining to Clarence and his family, \"After the bet was set up, the pitbull boys' girl friends decided to wait on a sand knoll for the boys to come back and pick them up after the race was over. The beavers, Carl and Suzan, came along with Lidia and I\".\nLidia explained, \"The race was eastbound along Route 66 from The Hop, then southbound out of Santa Rosa along Highway 54. And who ever was first to cross the Santa Fe Railroad crossing in Vaughn wins\".\n\"Of course you recall the railroad overpass flyover wasn't there back then\", Danny reminded Clarence.\n\"Yea, the two railroads just crisscrossed each other back then\", Clarence affirmed. \nDanny then said, \"It was to be a 46 mile race. I gave Biff a three minute head start and the race was on. Three minutes later, it was shortly after 10 o'clock that night when we then got down on it\". \nDanny went on to explain, \"It all started out good. In no time at all I had that Goldenhawk flying at 140 mph down Route 66. I knew it was only a matter of time before I caught up to Biff and Richie's dad's Cadillac\".\n\"Boy that sounds scary\", Clarence exclaimed.\n\"For real\", Clarence's older brother, Jack, added.\n\"It was fun though\", Lidia said to Clarence and Jack.\n\"I must have took that turn onto 54 in Santa Rosa on two wheels\", Danny said. \"It felt like I was going to turn the car over\".\n\"I had thought you were going to\", Lidia replied to Danny.\n\"I bet that scared Carl and Suzan back there on the back seat\", Danny said.\n\"You know it did\", Lidia said.\n\"Well...Once we were going down Highway 54, I was back up to 140 mph in practically no time\", Danny continued. \"To us, the broken lines on the road looked like dots popping by at the rhythm of machine gun fire. The powerline poles looked like a picket fence whizzing by\".\nLidia mentioned, \"We hardly had time to read any road signs we were passing by them so fast\".\n\"We past a cat couple in a Corvair so quickly, to us it looked like the Corvair was going in reverse\", Danny said.\n\"It did\", Lidia affirmed. \"Those cats must have jumped out of their seats when we past them\".\n\"I know Biff, Richie and Gaston past them a couple of minutes earlier\", Danny said. \"They knew it was a race\".\n\"We past through Pastura at 140 mph\", Lidia said.\n\"We never slowed down\", Danny said. \"We flew through that little town giving it Hell. Then as we left town, we saw the Cadillac a mile ahead\".\n\"I remembered the song we had going on the radio too\", Lidia mentioned. \"It was All American Boy\".\n\"Now that you mentioned it, I remember it was\", Danny replied to Lidia.\n\n1959 HITS ARCHIVE: The All American Boy - Bill Parsons (Bobby Bare) \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y9NKRCWe6w\n\nDanny continued, \"As we gained up on them, I remember seeing the broken lines on the highway up ahead through the ground clearance past their Cadillac being lit up by their headlights\". \nLidia mentioned, \"As the radio played, we could notice the lines popping by like dots ahead of them as the lines were popping by like dots in front of us\". \nDanny then boasted, \"That's when they began finding out a 1959 Cadillac is not going to outrun a 1958 Studebaker Goldenhawk\".\nLidia then said to Clarence, \"As soon as we were right up behind them though, Biff began trying to stop us from getting past them. So we had to slow down to their speed of 124 mph until we had a chance to pass them\".\n\"But here's where it all went wrong\", Danny said, then explained, \"It wasn't long before we were about meet a car. I had planned that once Biff eased into the right lane to let the oncoming car by, I'd zip around Biff and back into the right lane ahead of him in time to miss the oncoming car myself. But it didn't work that way. When Biff noticed I was trying to zip past him, he jerked that Cadillac back in my way, and that's when that Cadillac began skidding all over the road at 124 mph. I almost lost control of my car after I had to punch the brakes and swerve to avoid rear ending them\".\nLidia said, \"That was really scary too. Their Cadillac began wildly fishtailing. Tires of both cars screaming and smoking against the pavement was so horrible. And that oncoming car was just about on us too\".\n\"I believe Biff was wildly oversteering that Cadillac\", Danny said. \"For a split second that Cadillac was skidding sideways down the shoulder of Highway 54 at 124 mph, and then it flipped. That's when the car's lights went out, and when it began smashing up and sparking against the pavement with pieces flying off, and broken glass busting out all over the highway\". \nLidia mentioned, \"Their driver's door also flung open and tore off \".\nDanny affirmed, \"Yea, it did. That's when we saw Biff get ejected. I myself was struggling to keep my car from going out of control\", Danny said, then added. \"And it felt really bone chilling when we could barely hear Biff hollering despite the noise of their car flipping over and over at 124 mph, and the sound of the tires of my car screaming against the pavement\".\n\"I remember Biff was wearing a black leather jacket that night which wasn't zipped up\", said Lidia. \"From the headlights of Danny's car briefly shining on Biff, we could see him flying through the air so fast that jacket flapped behind him like a cape in a hurricane\".\n\"So you actually watched Biff flying along?\", Clarence asked.\n\"Not exactly like that\", Danny said to Clarence, \"It was only for a split second we saw Biff flying, but it felt like it was lot longer\".\n\"Those situations always do feel like forever\", Al added. \n\"All three of them bought black leather jackets a month earlier\", Gerald interjected. \n\"Oh yea. They thought those jackets would make them look bad ass\", Cindy added.\n\"Wouldn't be surprised if they shoplifted them\", Buddy surmised as everyone agreed.\n\"They very well could have\", Danny agreed, then continued, \"A second or less after Biff was ejected, that oncoming car had to swerve off the highway, and it barely did miss hitting us and that Cadillac head on\".\n\"And it was only by inches too\", Lidia said.\n\"It was. It was really close\", Danny mentioned, then explained to Clarence and his family, \"Biff was still flying airborne after he got ejected, and I mean to tell you - Biff - slammed - head on - with nothing more than his body - into - the hood - and - left headlight - of that oncoming car...We found out it was a 1956 0ldsmobile\".\n\"Those cars were built like a tank\", Gerald interjected. \"I remember those cars when I was a teenager\".\n\"It all happened in a split second and it felt like shock witnessing it\", Lidia added. \"Biff's body literally exploded and disintegrated when he slammed head on into that car\".\n\"Biff was hurled ahead of the Cadillac faster than 124 mph upon being ejected\", Danny added. \"It looked like the oncoming car was going 60 or 70. That Oldsmobile looked like it was plowing through a red spray when Biff hit it head on\". \n\"Wow! I bet that must have been real scary\", Clarence's sister, Rhonda, said.\n\"Seeing something like that is a shock that will stay with you for life\", Lidia affirmed to Rhonda. \nDanny continued, \"Well anyway, we saw Richie also get ejected as the torn off driver's door of their Cadillac struck the side of my car. Then we saw the front left wheel tear off from the frame taking the tie rod and control arms with it, and the suspension spring for that wheel flying out. Then the hood tore off against some roadside boulders along with more parts tearing off.\"\nLidia mentioned, \"I remember one of the rear bumper ends that tore off and barely missed coming through the windshield of Danny's car\".\n\"That would not have ended well\", Gerald interjected. \"Rear bumper ends on those 1959 Cadillacs were pretty sizable and stamped from heavy gauge steel\".\nAl mentioned to Gerald, \"That would have come through the windshield of Danny's car like a brick tearing through a sheet of wallpaper\". \nDanny further mentioned, \"We also saw gumball machines from the trunk of their car scatter everywhere and bust to pieces on the pavement\".\nBuddy interjected, \"I remember hearing about gumballs and pennies scattered all over the highway from those gumball machines getting busted up\".\n\"There was. We ran over a lot of it, and hitting gumballs and pennies that were bouncing up ahead of the car\", Danny added. \"And an iron stem to one of those gumball machines got hung up under my car for about a second still going at 124 mph, then worked loose out from behind us. It lit up really bright under my car with a lot of sparks too\".\n\"They found out Biff and them stole those gumball machines too\", Gerald said.\nLidia then mentioned, \"I remember the parts that tore off their car striking sparks on the pavement from flying, flipping and bouncing down the road at such a high speed\".\n\"Then their Cadillac struck a powerline pole sideways and up side down, still flying at over 120 mph\", Danny said. \"Gaston rode with the car right into the powerline pole\".\n\"I remember that Cadillac sounded off with the loudest bang ever when it hit that pole\", Lidia recalled.\n\"The whole ordeal happened in matter of seconds\", Danny said, then continued, \"But it felt like an eternity\".\nLidia then mentioned, \"Then it was us not knowing if our car was next to get out of Danny's control and crash\".\n\"We were skidding from side to side all over the road at 120 mph with all four tires screaming and smoking\", Danny said. \"We could hear stones being kicked up against the bottom of the car each time we left the pavement\".\n\"I remember the tires screaming sounded so horrible. It was all so surreal\", Lidia said. \"I even remember Carl Beaver crying from the back seat, 'I don't wanna die' \". \n\"I had to fight the steering wheel to stop the car from getting away from me...And my car did start getting out of my control and left the pavement for good\", Danny said. \"I barely got it back under control though as we plowed through bushes and sand until we gradually slowed down, then finally came to a stop\".\n\"Before we slowed down and stopped, I was scared Danny's car was going to run up on the railroad tracks that run beside Highway 54 and flip over\", Lidia said, \"When we finally stopped, Danny's car was stuck in the sand, and with front end damage from plowing through the bushes. That made it impossible for us to flee the scene. But at least it was over. We were all so relieved it was finally over\".\n\"Oh how I remember that night well\", Danny said. \"That was the most scared I've ever been in my life\".\n\"Same here\", Lidia affirmed. \"I was beginning to think all four of us were going to die along with Biff, Richie and Gaston\".\nDanny then mentioned, \"I remember how angry that wolf couple were in the Oldsmobile that was almost hit by Biff and Richie's dad's Cadillac head on\".\n\"They almost hit our car head on too\", Lidia added. \"When they turned around and came back, we noticed they had three cubs with them who looked like they've been scared half out of their wits\".\nDanny agreed, \"I can imagine those cubs would have been scared. I remember that Oldsmobile of theirs having blood all over it from bumper to bumper from when Biff flew head on into it. And the hood and fender was all buckled up too, and with only one headlight working. There was also bush and shrub foliage impaled into the grill from where they had to swerve off of the highway\".\n\"You know Biff hit that Oldsmobile really hard to buckle the hood and fender like he did\", Jed mentioned. \"I'm sure us older folks remember cars back in those days were made from real Detroit iron and steel\".\n\"You're talking about a 1956 Oldsmobile, I'd say so\", Charley agreed, then mentioned, \"Those cars were before my time, but I have heard old timers say it took a lot more to bend those cars than what it takes to bend these cars now days\".\n\"A gruesome sight I'll never forget was some of that blood dripping down on the pavement from the front of their car\" Lidia mentioned to Clarence's family. \"And some of Biff 's blood was splattered on Danny's car too\".\n\"Along with a belly full of whiskey\", Sheryl's husband, Dean, jested.\nDanny added, \"When Biff slammed head on into that Oldsmobile, his blood, guts and body chunks just...exploded like a bomb...everywhere\".\n\"Eue!\", Clarence's sister, Rhonda, exclaimed. \n\"Well one thing's for. That boy never had time to feel it\", Clarence's dad, Charley, surmised. \n\"No doubt a painless way to go\", Clarence's mom, Alice, added. \n\"I bet their Cadillac had Biff's blood on it too\", Clarence's older brother, Jack, said.\n\"There was so much blood all over that Cadillac, it was hard to tell who's blood was who's\", Danny replied to Jack, then mentioned, \"And the ground and pavement where Biff hit that Olds looked like a slaughter house had been there\".\nLidia also mentioned. \"And there was a torn shred of Biff 's leather jacket hanging in where the left headlight use to be\".\n\"I remember seeing that strip of jacket now that you mentioned it\", Danny replied to Lidia, then mentioned, \"I also recall pieces of bent up chrome windshield molding torn loose and sticking up in the air\".\nLidia then mentioned, \"Well anyway, you should have heard the lecture their dad and mom gave us before they left to find a payphone to report the accident\".\n\"Mostly about teenagers racing on public highways\", Danny added. \"And their dad threatened to drag me out of my car and beat me up, though never did do it\".\n\"How I remember that well\", Lidia mentioned. \"And I was scared he was going to for a minute there\".\n\"I know that Oldsmobile of theirs with all that blood on it had to have been a gruesome sight to be rolling into the town of Vaughn to find that payphone\", Buddy said.\n\"Well, they were the only ones there at the time who had a car that runs and could go report the wreck\", Dotty mentioned to her husband, Buddy.\n\"True\", Buddy agreed, then mentioned, \"At least it was late at night when everyone wasn't out and about to see it\".\n\"The cat couple eventually arrived in the Corvair, and they didn't have anything nice to say about it either\", Danny added. \"It kind of struck me when that male cat rubbed it in by asking me how fast can my car go now\".\n\"Yup...They were nearly as bent as those wolf parents were\", Lidia added. \nMarge mentioned, \"We can be sure the carnage along the highway, the blood, the car wrapped around the pole and the debris strewn everywhere was not a pretty sight for those three wolf cubs to have been seeing\".\n\"Those cubs watching Biff explode against the front of their mom and dad's car had to be the worst of it all\", Buddy added.\n\"Yes, you are absolutely right\", Marge agreed with Buddy. \"I can only imagine how shocking an experience like that must be\". \n\"You know, you two are lucky to be alive today\", Al said to Danny and Lidia.\n\"We certainly are\", Danny admitted. \"You do know I had to do five years prison time for it though\".\n\"Along with Danny, they also arrested Carl Beaver, Suzan Beaver and I that night\", Lidia said to Clarence. \"But Danny was the only one out of us four who was prosecuted. Charges were dismissed for Carl, Suzan and I during the arraignments\". \n\"But why did you have to go to prison for anyway?\", Clarence Coyote asked Danny Otter. \"Wasn't it Biff who was the one who wrecked the Cadillac?\"\nDanny explained to Clarence, \"Yes that was so. But because I was driving the car we were racing them with, I too was held responsible for their deaths\".\nBuddy mentioned to Danny, \"We always did think the reason you got only 5 years was because Biff, Richie and Gaston were a constant thorn in the side to everyone in this county\".\nGerald further said to Danny, \"If that wolf family in the Oldsmobile had gotten killed, I'm sure you'd be doing life without the possibility of parole\".\n\"By the way, that's how you lost your apprenticeship with Horizon Innovations\", Al said to Danny.\n\"I know your dad was awful disappointed\", Marge reminded Danny. \n\"Yup. It took Greg Otter a long time to get over that\", Al added.\n\"I know. Letting Biff talk me into that road race was a big mistake in my life\", Danny further admitted.\nLidia mentioned, \"I remember all too well how hot fire mad my dad and mom were at me when they had to come down to the jail that night to bail me out\". \nDanny replied to Lidia, \"When my mom and dad were also posting my bail, I remember to this day that comment your dad said to you\".\n\"Oh yea, that\", Lidia interjected. \"He raved, 'Ohhh, I just lovvve dropping by at the jailhouse hours after midnight to pick up my daughter' \".\n\"Carl's parents and Susan's parents weren't very happy either that night\", Danny recalled.\n\"Oh that goes without saying\", Lidia added. \n\"How bad was their Cadillac all tore up?\", Clarence asked. \"What all was it like there?\"\n\"You could barely tell it was a Cadillac for one thing\", Danny answered Clarence. \"And the car was wrapped like a boomerang around the power line pole. The mid section of the car where it hit the pole wasn't even two feet wide. And that's where Gaston was\".\nLidia also mentioned to Clarence, \"There were about half a dozen state police cars there. There were several sheriff's deputies cars, including the two they had Susan and I in, and Danny and Carl in. There was the flatbed truck to haul away the Cadillac, and the crane truck to load it. There was the tow truck to tow Danny's car away. They even had a tanker fire truck there because for a while they were scared the gas tank was going to explode\".\n\"Everyone was so thankful there was no gas tank explosion\", Gerald added.\n\"Oh that's for sure\", Lidia agreed, then continued telling Clarence, \"There was the coroner's station wagon. There was a county maintenance panel truck there because the coroner's car could haul only two bodies. There were the power company trucks waiting on standby to restore power once the wreck scene was cleared. They set road flares on the highway in both directions beyond the wreck scene. They had that wreck scene lit up with police car headlights\". \nDanny mentioned, \"Some of the sheriff deputies' cars had spotlights in addition to the headlights\".\nLidia continuing telling Clarence, \"A news crew eventually showed up. And the powerline pole was broken and partially blocked Highway 54...Oh, and the wolf family in the Oldsmobile had returned from reporting the accident, and were there for a little while. Biff hitting their car involved them in the accident. And they also filled out a witness report and gave testimony of what they saw happen during the crash\".\nDanny also mentioned, \"While the fire department crew was still there, they cranked up their tanker truck and washed the blood off the Oldsmobile belonging to the wolf family\". \n\"That car was in bad need a wash down too\", Lidia added. \n\"Wow!\", Clarence exclaimed. \"That place was pretty busy then\".\n\"A bad accident scene like that always is busy\", Gerald added. \nBuddy then mentioned, \"I heard Gaston's body was so mangled into the seat springs, that once they dragged the car away from the broken pole and turned it upright with a truck and a chain, they had to borrow bolt cutters from the power company crew to cut the seat springs loose that were impaled into pieces of his body in order to remove him from the car\".\n\"You heard exactly right\", Gerald assured Buddy. \"With the driver's door gone, Gaston's body was the only thing between the powerline pole and the interior of that Cadillac\".\n\"So I take it the car hit the pole driver's side first then\", Buddy surmised.\n\"It did\", Gerald affirmed to Buddy.\" The side with the door gone\".\nAl mentioned, \"I remember Anthony Lynx telling me how he and his power company crew watched the coroner workers and state police officers collect up fragments of Gaston's body off the ground and roadway, along with pieces of the car. Anthony said his body fragments and pieces of the car were strewn out as far as 350 feet beyond where the car hit the pole\".\n\"They also scraped some of Gaston's remains off of that broken powerline pole I've heard tell\", Gerald added. \n\"Probably some guts and brain matter along with it\", Buddy surmised, then mentioned, \"That boy's body was literally pulverized\".\nRex mentioned, \"I remember hearing about Gaston's skeleton being shattered into bone fragments when that Cadillac struck that pole\".\nDanny replied to Gerald and Buddy, \"When they had Lidia, Carl, Susan and I sitting in the back of Sheriff's patrol cars, we actually witnessed that. We also saw some of Gaston's guts spilling out of the wreckage of the car when they turned it upright with the truck and chain\". \n\"I remember what was left to that Cadillac wobbled like jello when it flopped down to the ground upright\", Lidia interjected. \"And the metal creaking sounds it made was enough to make you cringe\". \n\"Why was that?\", Clarence asked. \"I thought Cadillacs were built strong\".\n\"The car was structurally weakened from being smashed up so bad\", Danny answered Clarence, then continued, \"Gaston's body bag was filled with parts and pieces of Gaston before being wheeled on a gurney to the coroner's station wagon. That's all that was left to him\".\n\"I remember all that blood too\", Lidia mentioned, then continued, \"And another thing that will stick with me for the rest of my life is seeing some of Gaston's remains dripping from that broken powerline pole when they turned that Cadillac back upright\".\n\"The inside of what was left to that Cadillac was plastered with blood\", Danny added.\n\"Ewuuu gross!\", Clarence, Rhonda and older brother Jack exclaimed. \n\"They didn't take us to jail right away\", Lidia said to Clarence. \"It was like they wanted to keep us around a while to have us get a good look at what we've done...And yea. What was left of Gaston was gruesome\".\nCharley then mentioned, \"Yea...Our bodies are flesh, bone and blood. That car is made of steel. And that powerline pole is solid wood. It never ends well being smashed between a powerline pole and a car at 120 mph or better\".\n\"They were still keeping us out there when a KSWS TV news crew showed up too\", Danny added.\n\"And when Gaston's parents also arrived as the sheriff's deputies began taking us to jail\", Lidia mentioned to Clarence, then continued, \"If I live to be 100, I'll never forget seeing Gaston's mom hysterically screaming and beating on the dashboard of their car when she saw the wreckage of the Cadillac with all that blood in it being chained down to the flatbed truck\".\n\"On our way to jail, we saw Biff and Richie's parents on their way to the crash site\", Danny said to Clarence. \"Carl Beaver and I recognized their 1960 Cadillac. And they were flying on their way there like a bat out of Hell\".\n\"That had to have been the worst night of their lives\", Gerald said. \n\"And just before Christmas too\", Cindy added. \n\"Kind of makes you wonder how state police officers and sheriff's deputies are able to deal with all of that\", Charley mentioned. \n\"Well, they do\", Gerald replied. \"But they don't like it when they have work an accident that's that bad\".\nJed mentioned, \"There was that one state police officer Anthony Lynx told us about. Remember? The one who couldn't handle dealing with that accident, and had to request the rest of the night off \".\n\"Oh I remember the one you're talking about\", Danny Otter said to Jed Coyote. \"He was a young fox. Carl and I noticed him leaving in his patrol car before they took us to jail\".\n\"Susan and I saw him too\", Lidia added. \"He couldn't have been more than 25 years old\".\n\"Police officers are use to seeing bad wrecks though, aren't they?\", Clarence asked.\n\"I thought so too\", Jack added.\nAl mentioned to Clarence and his siblings, \"Anthony found out from talking with one of the other state police officers, that young fox at that time had been a state trooper for about only 7 months\".\n\"Must have been a Hell of a sight for him to witness so early in his police career\", Charley's wife, Alice, mentioned. \nJed then mentioned, \"I remember Ryan Lynx telling me his dad said Richie wasn't pulverized as bad as Biff and Gaston were, but he was still smashed flat as a pancake\".\n\"An easy thing for a 5,000 pound Cadillac tumbling at 120 mph to do to someone\", Al commented.\nRex mentioned, \"They believed it was the roof of the car Richie was crushed under, why he was only flattened\".\n\"Gerald and I had heard from Sandra that their bodies were torn up so badly, all three of them had closed casket funerals\", Cindy mentioned. \n\"And all over a $100 bet and who's car is faster\", Sheryl exclaimed. \n\"Sandra was Biff's girlfriend as I remember\", said Buddy.\n\"Yes she was\", Dotty affirmed to her husband Buddy.\n Danny continued, \"Getting back to the car, I remember part of the hourglass shaped frame was busted apart where it normally forms an ex under the center of the car\".\n\"Yup. Those cars did have hourglass frames\", Jed mentioned.\n\"Many General Motors cars did during that day and time\", Al added.\n\"The transmission was also busted wide open\", said Danny. \"I recall a planetary gear assembly falling out of the transmission and dropping into the flatbed truck when the crane was loading the car on. Then a broken piece of shaft with what appeared to be a sun gear attached to it fell out, followed by clutch pack disks falling out\". \n\"Why didn't they use a tow truck?\", Clarence asked.\n\"They couldn't, Son\", Charley affirmed to Clarence. \"How would they tow a car in that condition?\"\nClarence's older brother, Jack, added, \"The only thing a tow truck could do with a car like that is drag it, unless they had one heck of a tow dolly\".\n\"That car had to be hauled away chained down to a flatbed truck\", Al affirmed to Clarence, then said to Jack, \"And it was beyond any tow dolly you could imagine\".\nGerald added, \"A lot of it's pieces were stuffed into the trunk...or where ever else they could secure them on the truck\". \nJed mentioned, \"As I recall when we went to see the car the next day, the interior of that Cadillac was smashed down so narrow, there sure was no place in there to pile any of those busted off parts\". \nDanny Otter affirmed, \"Just before sheriff's deputies took us to jail that night, Carl and I noticed they didn't even try to put any of those pieces in the interior. It was smashed in so tight, there wasn't any room to put anything\".\n\"Susan and I noticed the same thing from the sheriff's car we were in\", Lidia added. \n\"And you know?...That was also the same night we had that big blizzard set it\", Wanda recalled.\nAl mentioned, \"Anthony Lynx told us that blizzard had set in not long after the accident scene was cleared\".\n\"Just in time for his crew to have to work out in it restoring the power lines\", Marge added.\n\"I'm glad they brought that coffee keg along with them\", Wanda said. \"I'm sure in that blizzard, hot coffee was a blessing to have\".\n\"I remember as cubs how happy we were to see all that snow when we got up in the morning\", Donna said. \"I was six years old then\".\nJed mentioned, \"Come daylight and when the blizzard let up, Dad took us to the gas station in Vaughn where the Cadillac was taken to. I remember seeing where a valve cover was sheered off and part of one of the engine heads was broke away where you could see the tops of two pistons\".\n\"There were lots of stuff sheered off that engine\", Rex added, then mentioned, \"I also remember the section of the car where it hit the pole, you could stand on the ground and at the same time be standing at the steering wheel...or what was left to it\".\n\"The engine must have been slammed across a boulder\", Al surmised, then recalled, \"When we went to see that car, I remember it also wasn't very far from being torn in two\".\n\"I could see that it came close to them having to haul that Cadillac away in two pieces\", Gerald recalled. \"Cindy and I also rode to the gas station to see that car after we heard about the wreck\".\n\"It was the worst I've ever seen a car wrecked\", Cindy affirmed. \"And I've never seen another one wrecked that bad since to this day\".\nJed added, \"And I don't think there was a single part salvageable to that car\".\n\"Straight from the insurance auction to the crusher\", Rex remarked.\nDonna also recalled, \"I remember the traces of blood that were still all over that Cadillac even after they hosed it down earlier that morning\".\n\"I know it happened a year before I was born\", Beverly said. \"But I know that had to look gruesome\".\n\"Anthony Lynx told me the top of that powerline pole was hanging three feet above the northbound lane of Highway 54\", Gerald said.\n\"That pole must have been broken really good\", Clarence said.\n\"That Cadillac snapped that pole like a matchstick\", Gerald replied. \"And with powerlines everywhere on the ground according to what Anthony said\".\n\"There were downed powerlines all over that crash site\", Danny Otter affirmed, then mentioned, \"I also remember hearing about how astronomical the claim was that the power utility company filed against Biff and Richie's dad's auto insurance\".\n\"And the claim that wolf family filed for the damage to their Oldsmobile\", Gerald added. \"I had heard from where Biff slammed head on into that car, the hood was buckled up and the left fender bowed outward so bad those had to be replaced. The windshield was cracked up and had to be replaced too\".\nBuddy further added, \"I heard tell the driver's side mirror was also torn off, causing the driver's door to require body work. Chrome windshield molding had to be replaced. And the left grill section had to be replaced. That big massive bumper survived though\".\n\"I never knew about the mirror\", Gerald replied to Buddy. \"Chunks of Biff 's body must have caught that mirror and the windshield molding just right\".\nSheryl mentioned, \"I heard the wolf couple weren't sure if it was a chunk of Biff 's body or the Cadillac that knocked the mirror off their car\".\nDean added, \"According to the husband, the wolf family saw the front end of that Cadillac flash by within inches of their driver's side windows\".\n\"Wow! You know that had to close\", Charley affirmed.\n\"Too close\", Alice added.\nJed mentioned, \"I heard the body shop had to spend hours running a couple of garden hoses with a cleaning solution into the cowl vent in front of the windshield to wash Biff 's blood from inside the cowl\".\n\"Yes they did\", Rex affirmed. \"That decomposing blood in there would stink up the car with a dead smell every time the wolf family used the heater or air conditioner\".\n\nThe video linked below shows a 1956 Oldsmobile like the one the wolf family had.\nhttps://youtu.be/saDUGaWBs3s?t=125\n\n\"Oh, and remember the jet plane style hood ornaments those Oldsmobiles had?\", Buddy asked.\n\"I sure do\", Gerald answered. \"Who could forget them?\"\n\"Well Biff 's body tore that hood ornament off upon impact too\", Buddy replied. \"And they never did find that ornament\".\n\"You think that ornament is still there yet to this day?\", Jack Coyote asked.\n\"Could be\", Buddy replied.\n\"I wouldn't mind finding it\", Jack proclaimed. \n\"That would be so cool\", Clarence added.\n\"Where exactly on Highway 54 did that wreck happen?\", Jack asked.\n\"We're going to Santa Rosa tomorrow morning\", Jed offered to Jack and Clarence. \"I'll be glad to give you a ride and show you if your parents are okay with it\".\n\"I'm good with it\", Charley granted permission as Alice agreed. \nCharley and Alice knew they could trust Clarence in the custody of Jed and his wife. After all, Jed was one of Clarence's foster siblings and a playmate during the 6 months Clarence was back in the year 1960. \n\"Of course, that ornament would be pitted really bad by now after 58 years of being there if it was\", Al added.\n\"Yea, let's see\", Charley remarked, \"Hood, fender, hood ornament, headlight and bezel, mirror, windshield, grill, chrome molding, body work to the driver's door...Not to mention repainting, and washing blood out of the cowl...Sounds like Biff racked up a hefty repair bill on that car\".\nGerald mentioned, \"Biff did a lot of damage to that 1956 Oldsmobile with nothing more than his body becoming a high speed missile against that car\".\n\"Wasn't anything left to Biff 's body either I heard tell\", Rex added.\n\"There wasn't\", Lidia affirmed as Danny nodded in agreement. \"Danny, Carl, Susan and I actually witnessed it happen\".\n\"We actually saw that Oldsmobile literally vaporize Biff\", Danny added.\nAl commented, \"I know Reginald and Diana Pitbull weren't too happy about that along with loosing their two sons\".\nCindy added, \"And on the night it happened, I can only imagine how devastating it was to the parents of those three when the state police notified them\".\n\"They got those visits at around one o'clock am\", Gerald further added, \"It always is hard on any parent to be awaken in the middle of the night to be told their offspring had died\".\n\"It's never an easy thing for a police officer to have to tell a parent either\", Jed added. \n\"Well maybe if Reginald and Diana had raised their sons right, they might be alive today\", Marge mentioned, \"And the same goes for Gaston's parents too\". \nWanda then mentioned to Danny, \"And because that moron, Biff, talked you into a road race, poor Anthony Lynx and his crew had to be called out of bed in the middle of the night before Christmas Eve to come replace the pole and restore the powerlines\".\n\"Besides working in that blizzard when it set in too\", Al added. \"It was the crack of dawn before they completed the repairs and got power restored to Pastura\".\n\"I remember that blizzard, and hearing about how that powerline crew had to work out in it\", said Jerald.\nCindy added, \"When Gerald and I found out about the accident, I felt so sorry for Anthony and them that they had to work in that blizzard. And we were warm and snug in bed in our house trailer that night\".\n\"Well, I guess when you're a line worker like Ryan and Janice's dad was, situations like that come with the job\", Jed mentioned. \"I know Anthony sure was glad to get home to his family that morning, where it was warm, his wife had breakfast ready, and the radio playing Christmas music\".\n\"I bet Ryan and Janice were asking their dad what is was like\", Clarence proclaimed. \n\"It was on the morning television news an hour after Anthony got home\", Gerald replied. \nAfter the story of what happened to Biff, Richie and Gaston, everyone socialized a while longer until it started getting late. Eventually everyone bid good night and headed on home. It certainly has been a very good birthday party for Sheryl. Then once everyone had left, the Claymont Coyote Family headed for bed. And this was the first time in over six months Clarence slept in his regular bed with his actual family, at his actual home, and during his home day and time in the year 2018.\n\nIt was about 3:00 am when Roswell International Air Center authorities showed up with the tractor trailer flatbed truck and crane to bring the time machine back to Roswell. Fortunately, Clarence's belongings he came back from 1960 with had been already taken out of the time machine a few hours ago.\nOf course there was the knock on the door, which Charley answered.\nThe authorities said to Charley, \"Mr. Claymont Coyote. We'd like to ask your son Clarence a few questions\".\nCharley knew that visit was coming and went in to wake up Clarence.\n\"Some authorities from Roswell want to talk to you about the time machine, Son\", Charley said to Clarence.\nThe questioning was conducted in the living room with Clarence's parents, Charley and Alice, present. After 10 minutes of questions, the authorities were satisfied that Clarence's trip to 1960 was by accident. One of them even admitted that on February 9th the scientists should have had the door closed on the time machine so Clarence, or any other cub, could not have access inside.\nOne of the other Roswell International Air Center authorities remarked, \"Those air force boys missed getting that time machine 58 years ago. But we have possession of it now\".\nOnce they were done, the family was able to get back to bed. Then the authorities got the time machine loaded onto the truck and flatbed trailer rig which was prepared for a 17 foot wide load...The time machine is 14 feet in diameter and each of it's four landing pods extended out another foot and a half. Then they headed back with it to Roswell during the predawn hours.\n\n\n [t]The End[/t]\n Anything to this story beyond this point will be postlude sequels.\n\nOn the night of that fatal car wreck before Christmas Eve of 1960, Biff Pitbull and his younger brother, Richie, were cruising in their dad's 1959 Cadillac on their way to The Hop on Route 66 where they'd encounter Danny and Lidia Otter, and Carl and Suzan Beaver. \nRiding along with Biff and Richie was their sidekick, Gaston Pitbull, and their girlfriends; Sandra, Avia and Roxanne.\nWhile cruising along, they are passing around a 5th of Old Crow whisky, and some are smoking Viceroy cigarettes. The boys got their black leather jackets that makes them feel bad ass cool. And the girls are dressed up in hipster attire. \nBefore arriving at The Hop, the song likely playing on the car radio was a 1957 version of Raunchy.\nhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YSES0Vukle4&pp=ygUXZHVhbmUgZWRkeSByYXVuY2h5IDE5NTc%3D\n[hugethumb]2251226,2[/hugethumb]\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n \n",

After everyone sang Happy Birthday, some of Sheryl&#039;s grand cubs helped her blow out the 67 candles on her cake...And it was a really big cake in anticipation of so many attending the party.<br />The main center of party activities were in the dining and living room areas inside. The double entrance doors of the doublewide were propped open being there were some who preferred to sit out on the deck. Jed and two of his adult sons took a place at tables on the deck. A couple Jed&#039;s grand cubs also came out to the deck.<br />&quot;Here you guys are&quot;, Jed&#039;s wife said as she brought out cake, ice cream and sodas to them.<br />&quot;Oh, thank you, dear&quot;, Jed thanked his wife.<br />Jed&#039;s wife then joined them out on the deck.<br />Rex and his wife were also already out on the deck, and were reminiscing old times with Jed and his wife.<br />Gerald and Cindy eventually came out to the deck with sodas and plates of ice cream, cake and chips.<br />&quot;How&#039;s it going everyone&quot;, Gerald greeted as he and Cindy took a seat at a table.<br />&quot;We&#039;ve been talking about old times&quot;, Jed replied.<br />After Dotty and Buddy had been on the deck a while, they decided to go back inside.<br />Donna and her husband remained inside, as well as Beverly and her husband.<br />Not long afterward, one of Dotty and Buddy&#039;s sons and his wife came out to join them.<br />&quot;Nice night, Dad&quot;, Buddy&#039;s son mentioned.<br />&quot;That&#039;s why your mom and I decided to come out here&quot;, Buddy replied.<br />Not long afterward, one of Buddy and Dotty&#039;s grand daughters came out to the deck complaining, &quot;Mom. Dad. Jason&#039;s teasing me&quot;.<br />Buddy and Dotty&#039;s son told his cub daughter, &quot;Go back in and tell Jason I said he better stop&quot;.<br />His wife added, &quot;Tell Jason he&#039;s getting a paddling if he doesn&#039;t behave&quot;.<br />&quot;Okay Mom&quot;, the grand daughter replied then went back inside to tell her older brother Jason what Mom and Dad said.<br />&quot;Reminds of when you all were cubs&quot;, Buddy said to his son.<br />&quot;Oh how well do I remember&quot;, Buddy and Dotty&#039;s son replied. <br />At some point, Danny Otter and his wife Lidia showed up to the party.<br />&quot;Hey, Danny. Lidia. Long time no see&quot;, Buddy greeted them.<br />&quot;Oh, we&#039;ve been around&quot;, Danny Otter replied as he and Lidia made their way up the steps to the outside deck.<br />Danny and Lidia then went on inside. <br />&quot;Hi there. Glad to have you over&quot;, Charley greeted Danny and Lidia. <br />&quot;We heard Clarence is back&quot;, Danny replied. <br />&quot;He had arrived at 9 o&#039;clock tonight&quot;, Charley informed Danny. <br />&quot;You must be Danny&quot;, Clarence said to Danny Otter. <br />&quot;That&#039;s me, 58 years older from when you saw me last&quot;, Danny replied. <br />Lidia mentioned to Clarence, &quot; The last time we saw you, you were in the time machine getting ready to leave 1960&quot;.<br />Many of those on the deck would come inside, and there were others who inside who decided to come out on the deck for a while. <br />Al and Marge even came out to the deck to socialize with Jed, Rex and their wives a bit. <br />Before long, Charley and Alice come out to the deck to announce that Sheryl is about to open her presents, thus everyone headed on inside.<br />There were lots of nice present Sheryl received, and the presents were many being there were so many who attended the party.<br />&quot;This is without a doubt the best birthday party I&#039;ve ever had&quot;, Sheryl proclaimed.<br />In the present her husband, Dean, got her, was a premium quality house coat she had always wanted.<br />&quot;Oh, thank you, Dear&quot;, Sheryl thanked Dean.<br />It was a black coat with large bold pattern of green tropical leaves and large pink and yellow flowers.<br />&quot;Oh, that <strong><em>is</em></strong> nice&quot;, Sheryl&#039;s mom, Wanda, complimented.<br />The next present was from Sheryl and Dean&#039;s offsprings and their spouses...Being that Sheryl and Dean were big fans of the music group Owl City, they got her several of their albums on CD she did not yet own.<br />&quot;Oh this is awesome&quot;, Sheryl thanked her offsprings and in-laws. &quot;Thank you&quot;.<br />The present Al and Marge gave was a small collection of high quality jewelry, which Sheryl really liked.<br />Charley and Alice got a camera for Sheryl they knew she always wanted.<br />Wanda got Sheryl a $300 Target gift card.<br />&quot;Oh, thank you, Mom&quot;, Sheryl proclaimed.<br />Danny and Lidia Otter didn&#039;t have time to shop for a gift, so they slipped a $100 in a birthday card for Sheryl. <br />Among the many other gifts everyone else gave, the grand cubs even had little trinket gifts for her. Realizing that cubs don&#039;t have the money to buy an elaborate gift, Sheryl thanked the cubs as though the gifts had been expensive.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Of course, Clarence had to admit to Sheryl, &quot;Being I was coming back through time, I&#039;m afraid I didn&#039;t get a chance to get a present to give you&quot;.<br />Sheryl assured Clarence, &quot;Your being here with me is the best present of all, Clarence&quot;.<br />&quot;Awe, that&#039;s so sweet&quot;, Alice mentioned.<br />&quot;Oh wow...Okay&quot;, Clarence replied, feeling much better.<br />There were also the birthday cards to open.<br />Dean asked Charley, &quot;Do you have a CD player?&quot;<br />&quot;In the entertainment center&quot;, Charley replied.<br />&quot;What do you say we put some of your Owl City CDs on?&quot;, Dean suggested to Sheryl, then said to Charley, &quot; If that&#039;s okay with Alice and you&quot;.<br />&quot;I see no problem with that&quot;, Charley said as Alice agreed.<br />&quot;I&#039;d like to start with the first song, Dreams Don&#039;t Turn to Dust&quot;, Sheryl said.<br />&quot;Oh, that&#039;s an awesome song&quot;, Donna mentioned.<br />Sheryl then pawed the CD to Charley to put on the entertainment center...The first song being Dreams Don&#039;t Turn to Dust.<br />&nbsp;<a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5nZjqdfAlY\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5nZjqdfAlY</a><br />Everyone enjoyed the music as Sheryl opened her birthday cards.<br />&quot;Wow! That song&#039;s really neato&quot;, one of Beverly&#039;s grand daughters proclaimed.<br />After the song finished playing, several of the grand cubs began to argue which song to play next.<br />When the parents told their cubs not to be arguing, Charley mentioned, &quot; This is Sheryl&#039;s birthday. She should decide what song she want&#039;s next&quot;.<br />&quot;Thank you, Charley&quot;, Sheryl said, then decided, &quot;I&#039;d like to play Fireflies next&quot;<br />Thus Fireflies it is.<br /><a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1TbKOdekw8\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1TbKOdekw8</a><br />Later the next song Sheryl chose was Angels<br /><a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bFV3ZPk_xw\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bFV3ZPk_xw</a><br /><a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d4Kj2u4VN8\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d4Kj2u4VN8</a><br />And as Sheryl had mentioned earlier, this was the best birthday she has ever had.<br />Another song played was Shooting Star.<br />&nbsp;<a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ROX1ajxRQY\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ROX1ajxRQY</a><br />After a while, the party festivities finally wound down. And at that point, everyone agreed to stay late and talk about old times. Several of those attending the party asked Sheryl if she could continue playing her CDs, which she agreed to. However, at this time the music volume was turned down real low in order for everyone to hold conversation.<br />&quot;I&#039;m sure Clarence has a lot to tell these cubs about the year 1960&quot;, Poindexter suggested.<br />&quot;You bet. I sure do&quot;, Clarence replied.<br />&quot;Yea, I&#039;ve always heard that was a cool day and time&quot;, Jack mentioned, then asked &quot; What was it really like?&quot;<br />&quot;Was it really as rad as the TV shows show it?&quot;, one of Beverly&#039;s grand sons asked.<br />&quot;Well, you cubs did see the pictures Clarence brought back with him&quot;, Charley mentioned.<br />&quot;The cars were like in the pictures&quot;, Clarence interjected. &quot; And there was really modern looking furniture back then&quot;.<br />&quot;Al and I had some really contemporary styled furniture back then&quot;, Marge added.<br />&quot;Some TV commercials were funny too&quot;, Clarence said.<br />&quot;I remember they aired some real dillies&quot;, Jed affirmed.<br />&quot;I&#039;ve always liked the one with Bucky Beaver&quot;, Donna said.<br />&quot;That was toothpaste commercial&quot;, Rex added. &quot;I remember that one&quot;.<br />&quot;Oh...And you can get a brand new car for two thousand dollars back then&quot;, Clarence said.<br />All the cubs were in awe when they heard that.<br />&quot;Wow! I wish a car could fit in that time machine&quot;, said Rhonda. &quot;I&#039;d go back to 1960, buy a new car, then bring it back here to 2018&quot;.<br />&quot;It looks like a <strong><em>motorcycle</em></strong> might fit it it&quot;, one of Sheryl&#039;s grand sons suggested.<br />&quot;Well, two thousand dollars would buy a bottom of the line new car with no options back then&quot;, Al set the record straight.<br />&quot;And two thousand back then was like twenty thousand is today&quot;, Donna&#039;s husband added.<br />&quot;I remember we paid almost six thousand for our 1960 Chrysler 300&quot;, Marge said. &quot;Though that was a high price car&quot;.<br />&quot;Our 2009 Chrysler 300 cost us $48,000 when we bought it brand new&quot;, Al added.<br />One of Dotty and Buddy&#039;s grand sons suggested, &quot;I bet it would be cool to go back to 1960 in the time machine, and bring back one of those Vespa scooters like the beatnik animals use to ride around on. That would be so cool, Dude&quot;.<br />&quot;I&#039;d still go an bring back a cool motorcycle&quot;, Sheryl&#039;s grand cub proclaimed.<br />&quot;No you don&#039;t&quot;, Sheryl sternly admonished her grand son.<br />&quot;Let&#039;s not get anymore madcap ideas about traveling around in that time machine shall we&quot;, Poindexter Fox announced to the cubs.<br />&quot;That&#039;s right&quot;, Charley added.<br />&quot;And you cubs need to stay away from that machine too&quot;, Al further announced.<br />Several of the parents then warned their cubs they&#039;d get paddled if they so much as crossed the highway to where that time machine was.<br />Poindexter then mentioned, &quot;Authorities from the Roswell International Air Center will be here in a few hours with a truck and a crane to come get that machine out of here&quot;.<br />&quot;I wouldn&#039;t doubt they&#039;ll have some questions to ask Clarence&quot;, Al mentioned to Poindexter.<br />&quot;I believe they will&quot;, Poindexter surmised, then mentioned, &quot; They had a lot of questions they asked other scientists and myself after Clarence had left Roswell in the machine on February 9th&quot;. <br />&quot;You cubs will have to be satisficed seeing the pictures and hearing the accounts of 1960&quot;, Charley reminded the cubs. &quot;1960 was not your day and time to be in...It was even before <strong><em>my</em></strong> time in fact&quot;. <br />&quot;Not only that. There was no internet back then. And no cell phones&quot;, Clarence added.<br />&quot;Yikes! <strong><em>That&#039;s</em></strong> a bummer&quot;, one of the cubs exclaimed as other cubs agreed.<br />&quot;So you see?&quot;, Charley mentioned to the cubs. &quot; You <strong><em>do</em></strong> have cool stuff in this day and time&quot;.<br />Rhonda mentioned, &quot;Speaking of which. Clarence&#039;s laptop <strong><em>still</em></strong> hasn&#039;t finished doing updates&quot;.<br />&quot;It hasn&#039;t had internet service to do updates for more than six months&quot;, Charley reminded Rhonda.<br />&quot;It&#039;s going to take a while&quot;, Alice added.<br />&quot;I remember us drawing pictures on that very same laptop when we were cubs&quot;, Donna mentioned.<br />&quot;I remember that too&quot;, Sheryl added.<br />&quot;I remember the drawing Ryan Lynx made of himself on his go-kart&quot;, Rex said.<br />&quot;He did a great job on that too&quot;, Jed complimented.<br />&quot;By the way. How <strong><em>has</em></strong> old Ryan Lynx been doing?&quot;, Sheryl asked. &quot;I haven&#039;t heard from him in a while&quot;.<br />&quot;Cindy and I got a phone call from Ryan and his wife a week ago&quot;, Gerald said. &quot; One of their grand sons plans to go to college after he graduates high school&quot;.<br />&quot;They still got that nice place in Long Beach, California?&quot;, Dotty asked.<br />&quot;Still do&quot;, Gerald answered his sister.<br />&quot;We should go up and see them some time&quot;, Dotty said to Buddy.<br />&quot;With the Air Force retirement Ryan Lynx gets, I&#039;m sure he and his wife can well afford that place&quot;, Buddy added.<br />&quot;Randy Fox is still the assistant pastor at our church in Santa Rosa&quot;, Cindy mentioned.<br />&quot;The same church we were married in back in 1960&quot;, Gerald said to Cindy.<br />&quot;Warren Brown Bear was pastor then, rest his soul&quot;, Cindy added.<br />Cindy then asked Clarence, &quot; You remember Skip Raccoon?<br />&quot;I&#039;ve heard of him when I was in 1960&quot;, Clarence acknowledged. &quot; But I never actually had a chance to know him&quot;.<br />&quot;Skip became an airline pilot&quot;, Cindy said to Clarence. &quot; And he put 30 years in before he retired&quot;.<br />&quot;Wow, cool! Flying those big airplanes!&quot;, Clarence proclaimed. &quot; That must have been awesome!&quot;<br />&quot;I hear Skip and Sophia live well now days from Skip&#039;s airline retirement pension&quot;, Gerald added.<br />&quot;Ryan Lynx&#039;s sister, Janice, did well too&quot;, Cindy said to Clarence. &quot; She put 25 years in with the Torrance County School System as an elementary school teacher. And her husband put in 30 years as a Torrance County sheriff&#039;s deputy&quot;.<br />&quot;You know the county won&#039;t go broke&quot;, Gerald added. &quot; So their retirement pensions are guaranteed&quot;.<br />&quot;Oh, by the way. What ever happed to Gail Skunk?&quot;, Clarence asked.<br />&quot;Oh my gosh. <strong></strong>Her<em></em>&quot;, Sheryl exclaimed. &quot;Gail Skunk&#039;s married life has been a train wreck from day one&quot;.<br />&quot;Yup&quot;, said Dean Coyote. &quot;Three divorces in her life time. And each one caused by her infidelity&quot;.<br />&quot;I hear she&#039;s starting to go through her <strong><em>4th</em></strong> divorce now&quot;, Wanda said.<br />&quot;So she hasn&#039;t been loyal to this last husband either&quot;, Sheryl exclaimed.<br />&quot;You know, Sheryl. I don&#039;t think Gail would even know the <strong><em>meaning</em></strong> of loyalty if it bit her on the nose&quot;, Wanda said.<br />&quot;That&#039;s a shame&quot;, Dean added.<br />&quot;I remember when Al and I heard about Gail Skunk&#039;s first divorce in 1979&quot;, Marge explained. &quot; She and her first husband had two cubs. Custody of both cubs was awarded to her ex-husband, and Gail being denied visitation rights&quot;.<br />&quot;Gail never saw those cubs again&quot;, Al said. &quot;Judge Badger told her right there in the courtroom she was not fit to be a parent&quot;.<br />&quot;That was the year before Judge Badger retired&quot;, Jed mentioned. &quot; And to this day, I still could hardly believe Gail actually hired a lawyer to challenge Judge Badger&#039;s custody decision after he retired&quot;.<br />&quot;Gail&#039;s custody challenge was shot down in a heart beat too&quot;, Rex mentioned. &quot;Judge Douglass Johnson Fox wasn&#039;t playing around&quot;.<br />&quot;Judge Douglass Johnson Fox&quot;, said Gerald Coyote. &quot;He&#039;s the same judge who the pitbulls Biff, Richie and Gaston stood before for pulling that fire alarm at school just before our senior class graduated&quot;.<br />&quot;I remember that&quot;, said Rex. &quot;I was in the 3rd grade. Clarence was also in the same class with me&quot;.<br />&quot;Boy I bet ya Biff, Richie and Gaston spent their lives being janitors or ditch diggers&quot;, 8 year old Clarence proclaimed.<br />&quot;No. They never lived long enough to be janitors and ditch diggers&quot;, Gerald correct Clarence.<br />&quot;They met a bad end four months after you left 1960 in the time machine&quot;, Cindy informed Clarence.<br />&quot;And it was really bad too&quot;, Marge added, then mentioned, &quot; This coming Christmas Eve will make it 58 years ago&quot;.<br />Lidia Otter began the story, &quot;Danny and I were at The Hop on the night before Christmas Eve&quot;.<br />&quot;Carl and Suzan Beaver were with us too&quot;, Danny Otter interjected.<br />&quot;Yes they were. It was a double date that night&quot;, Lidia affirmed. &quot;I remember we were parked under the car hop canopy, and dining in the car. And that jukebox song Carl and Suzan liked so well playing over the canopy speakers. <br />&quot;Which song was that?&quot;, Danny asked Lidia. &quot;Mary Jo wasn&#039;t it?&quot;<br />&quot;No. It was School Time. Remember? Mary Jo started playing when Roger ran them off&quot;, Lidia replied. <br />Danny replied to Lidia, &quot;You&#039;re right. I remember that now&quot;.<br />Lidia added,&nbsp;&nbsp;&quot; And we were having jumbo shrimp and onion rings with milkshakes that night. <br /><br />School Time by Vinny and Kenny. <br /><a href=\"https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AOY_hmSIJ58&amp;pp=ygUPdmlubnkgYW5kIGtlbm55\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AOY_hmSIJ58&amp;pp=ygUPdm...</a><br /><br />&quot;I remember how their jumbo shrimp and onion rings were the best ever&quot;, Danny added.<br />&quot;Oh they really were&quot;, Lidia agreed, then continued, &quot;Well, later that evening, Biff and Richie came cruising up in their dad&#039;s &#039;59 Cadillac. Gaston was with them and so were their girlfriends. We could tell they&#039;ve been drinking&quot;.<br />&quot;Everything was peaceful until that bunch showed up&quot;, Danny mentioned. <br />&quot;I&#039;ll say&quot;, Lidia replied. &quot; The first thing Biff did was reach out from the driver&#039;s window and slap one of the car hops on the butt&quot;.<br />&quot;It was Beth Fox. I remember&quot;, Danny acknowledged. &quot; And she was really scorned at Biff over it, and at the rest of them too for thinking it&#039;s funny&quot;.<br />&quot;Roger Irish Setter, being The Hop&#039;s owner, didn&#039;t like it either when Beth told him about it&quot;, Lidia said. &quot;I remember Beth was carrying a tray of ice cream treats to a raccoon family in a car backed in beside them when it happened. She should have made that bunch in that Cadillac <em><strong>wear</strong></em> that ice cream&quot;.<br />&quot;She should have&quot;, Danny agreed, then mentioned, &quot;I&#039;m sure you remember how Biff Pitbull then started shooting his mouth off how his dad&#039;s Cadillac could beat my Studebaker Goldenhawk&quot;.<br />&quot;I remember that well. The ravings of a drunk pitbull&quot;, Lidia added. <br /><br /><em>1958 Stubebaker Goldenhawk:</em><br /><a href=\"https://www.google.com/search?q=1958+studebaker+golden+hawk&amp;hl=en&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=isch&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwiJgdqCzNf2AhVhTTABHRkeC4UQ_AUoA3oECAEQBQ&amp;biw=1366&amp;bih=625&amp;dpr=1#imgrc=pQiZBYW-gYE5MM\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.google.com/search?q=1958+studebaker+golden+...</a><br /><br /><em>1959 Cadillac Coupe-deville:</em><br /><a href=\"https://www.google.com/search?q=1959+cadillac+coupe+deville&amp;tbm=isch&amp;ved=2ahUKEwje_cGfzNf2AhWZZ98KHZ-GCvMQ2-cCegQIABAA&amp;oq=1959+cadillac&amp;gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQARgCMggIABCABBCxAzIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDoECAAQQzoECAAQGDoHCAAQsQMQQ1D1CFjYRGDNZmgBcAB4AoABb4gB2BaSAQQzNy4ymAEAoAEBqgELZ3dzLXdpei1pbWewAQDAAQE&amp;sclient=img&amp;ei=96M4Yp6mI5nP_QafjaqYDw&amp;bih=625&amp;biw=1366&amp;hl=en#imgrc=ZzHeayksHG6NGM\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.google.com/search?q=1959+cadillac+coupe+dev...</a><br /><br />&quot;I remember how Biff kept calling my car a kiddie car&quot;, Danny said to Clarence. &quot; And Gaston making a wisecrack he could outrun my car on his tricycle&quot;.<br />&quot;What did you tell them?&quot;, Clarence asked Danny.<br />&quot;I asked Gaston &#039;That&#039;s your only tidbit of wisdom from the peanut gallery?&#039; &quot;, Danny answered Clarence as everyone laughed. <br />&quot;<em><strong>That</strong></em> one shut Gaston up&quot;, Lidia said. &quot; And they all laughed when Richie said he didn&#039;t know Gaston owned a tricycle&quot;.<br />&quot;Yea, that bunch lacked a lot in the common sense department&quot;, Al mentioned.<br />&quot;And how&quot;, Marge agreed.<br />&quot;Biff then started challenging me to a road race&quot;, Danny continued telling Clarence. &quot; And I told him put some money on it and we&#039;ll find out who has a kiddie car&quot;.<br />&quot;Then Roger Irish Setter, came out to the car hop canopy&quot;, Lidia said, then reminded Danny, &quot;<em><strong>That</strong></em> was when the jukebox began playing Mary Jo&quot;.<br /><br /><a href=\"https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5Tg9lDdECEs&amp;pp=ygUMTWFyeSBqbyAxOTU4\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5Tg9lDdECEs&amp;pp=ygUMTW...</a><br /><br />&quot;The sparks really flew when Roger began running them off &quot;, Danny said.<br />&quot;I bet Roger was really mad...and didn&#039;t want a race going on either&quot;, Clarence said.<br />&quot;Having a road race wasn&#039;t an issue with Roger&quot;, Danny Otter informed Clarence. &quot; It was about Biff slapping Beth. Plus the fact, Biff and his bunch had been kicked out of The Hop earlier in the year and told not to come back&quot;.<br />&quot;It was for that time they tripped that little cougar girl on the dance floor. Remember?&quot;, Jed reminded Clarence.<br />&quot;Oh yea. That&#039;s right&quot;, Clarence affirmed, then mentioned, &quot; That was also mean of them too&quot;.<br />&quot;Biff got argumentive when the raccoon family parked beside them testified about him slapping Beth Fox&quot;, Danny mentioned. &quot;Roger then warned Biff and his bunch he was about to phone the Sheriff if they didn&#039;t leave&quot;.<br />Lidia mentioned to Clarence and his family , &quot;I still can&#039;t believe it to this day. But that&#039;s when Gaston was about to raise that open 5th of Old Crow up at Roger. But Roxanne and Aiva on the back seat with him stopped him in time&quot;.<br />&quot;What&#039;s Old Crow?&quot;, Clarence&#039;s sister, Rhonda, asked.<br />&quot;Whisky&quot;, Buddy answered Rhonda. &quot;Cheap whisky at that. It hasn&#039;t been around for ages though&quot;.<br />&quot;I believe Gaston was the stupidest of all of them&quot;, Gerald added. <br />Danny continued, &quot;Well, Biff and them finally got the bright idea of parking across the highway from The Hop, which technically Roger couldn&#039;t do anything about it as long as they were not on the premises&quot;.<br />Danny then told of how he drove his car over to where Biff and them were, and that&#039;s where they waged a $100 bet on who has the faster car.<br />Lidia recalled, &quot;Carl Beaver recommended having Orville Hound hold onto the bet money until the race was over to keep things honest. Orville was there at The Hop that night&quot;.<br />&quot;Biff in his classic demeanor agreed and said &#039;Orville&#039;s a goodie two shoe. I know he&#039;s not gonna rook any of us&#039; &quot;, Danny affirmed. &quot;I agreed too, so Carl went back across the highway to The Hop to get Orville&quot;.<br />Lidia said, &quot; While Carl was going to get Orville, I&#039;ll never forget what Gaston remarked when Biff got onto him about almost raising that whisky bottle at Roger&quot;.<br />&quot;Oh yea. Ha. Gaston said he was going to offer Roger a swig of that whisky&quot;, Danny recalled. <br />Gerald added, &quot;Like I said, I believe Gaston was the stupidest of all of them&quot;.<br />&quot;They&#039;ve been drinking&quot;, Lidia affirmed. &quot; And Gaston was <em><strong>big time</strong></em> two sheets to the wind&quot;.<br />&quot;I remember the exact words Biff said to him too&quot;, Danny said, then quoted Biff&#039;s words, &quot; Were you trying to get that son of a bitch to call the state police on us for an open booze bottle in the car or something?&#039; &quot;.<br />Danny then continued, &quot; When Carl and Orville came over, Gaston started back on that kick about beating my car on his tricycle. That&#039;s when Carl Beaver asked him &#039;Hey, Gaston. Wanna race my skateboard?&#039; &quot;.<br />&quot;That&#039;s also when you asked Gaston why not park his tricycle in a toilet and get a free trike wash&quot;, Lidia reminded Danny. <br />&quot;Oh yea. We <em><strong>all</strong></em> laughed over <em><strong>that</strong></em> one, including Biff and them&quot;, Danny replied. &quot; Then Orville Hound asking Gaston &#039;A little old for a tricycle aren&#039;t ya?&#039; &quot;.<br />Gerald mentioned, &quot;Truth is, Gaston didn&#039;t even own a tricycle. He had long since outgrown them&quot;.<br />Gerald&#039;s wife, Cindy, remarked as everyone laughed, &quot; It depends on what you call growing up&quot;.<br />Buddy added, &quot;Yup. Some grow old, but don&#039;t grow up&quot;, which got another round of laughter. <br />Lidia then said to Clarence and his family, &quot;About that time, Biff was getting anxious to get the race going&quot;.<br />&quot;I even remember Biff&#039;s younger brother, Richie, saying &#039;Hey, cats. Let&#039;s get this show on the road&#039; &quot;, Danny recalled. &quot; With that said, Biff and I each gave our $100 wager to Orville Hound to hold in escrow until after the race&quot;. <br />&quot;That&#039;s like $1,000 each <em><strong>now</strong></em> days&quot;, Gerald interjected. <br />Danny continued explaining to Clarence and his family, &quot; After the bet was set up, the pitbull boys&#039; girl friends decided to wait on a sand knoll for the boys to come back and pick them up after the race was over. The beavers, Carl and Suzan, came along with Lidia and I&quot;.<br />Lidia explained, &quot; The race was eastbound along Route 66 from The Hop, then southbound out of Santa Rosa along Highway 54. And who ever was first to cross the Santa Fe Railroad crossing in Vaughn wins&quot;.<br />&quot;Of course you recall the railroad overpass flyover wasn&#039;t there back then&quot;, Danny reminded Clarence.<br />&quot;Yea, the two railroads just crisscrossed each other back then&quot;, Clarence affirmed.&nbsp;&nbsp; <br />Danny then said, &quot; It was to be a 46 mile race. I gave Biff a three minute head start and the race was on. Three minutes later, it was shortly after 10 o&#039;clock that night when we then got down on it&quot;. <br />Danny went on to explain, &quot; It all started out good. In no time at all I had that Goldenhawk flying at 140 mph down Route 66. I knew it was only a matter of time before I caught up to Biff and Richie&#039;s dad&#039;s Cadillac&quot;.<br />&quot;Boy that sounds scary&quot;, Clarence exclaimed.<br />&quot;For real&quot;, Clarence&#039;s older brother, Jack, added.<br />&quot;It was fun though&quot;, Lidia said to Clarence and Jack.<br />&quot;I must have took that turn onto 54 in Santa Rosa on two wheels&quot;, Danny said. &quot; It felt like I was going to turn the car over&quot;.<br />&quot;I had thought you were going to&quot;, Lidia replied to Danny.<br />&quot;I bet that scared Carl and Suzan back there on the back seat&quot;, Danny said.<br />&quot;You know it did&quot;, Lidia said.<br />&quot;Well...Once we were going down Highway 54, I was back up to 140 mph in practically no time&quot;, Danny continued. &quot; To us, the broken lines on the road looked like dots popping by at the rhythm of machine gun fire. The powerline poles looked like a picket fence whizzing by&quot;.<br />Lidia mentioned, &quot; We hardly had time to read any road signs we were passing by them so fast&quot;.<br />&quot;We past a cat couple in a Corvair so quickly, to us it looked like the Corvair was going in reverse&quot;, Danny said.<br />&quot;It did&quot;, Lidia affirmed. &quot; Those cats must have jumped out of their seats when we past them&quot;.<br />&quot;I know Biff, Richie and Gaston past them a couple of minutes earlier&quot;, Danny said. &quot; They knew it was a race&quot;.<br />&quot;We past through Pastura at 140 mph&quot;, Lidia said.<br />&quot;We never slowed down&quot;, Danny said. &quot; We flew through that little town giving it Hell. Then as we left town, we saw the Cadillac a mile ahead&quot;.<br />&quot;I remembered the song we had going on the radio too&quot;, Lidia mentioned. &quot; It was All American Boy&quot;.<br />&quot;Now that you mentioned it, I remember it was&quot;, Danny replied to Lidia.<br /><br /><em>1959 HITS ARCHIVE: The All American Boy - Bill Parsons (Bobby Bare) </em><br /><a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y9NKRCWe6w\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y9NKRCWe6w</a><br /><br />Danny continued, &quot; As we gained up on them, I remember seeing the broken lines on the highway up ahead through the ground clearance past their Cadillac being lit up by their headlights&quot;. <br />Lidia mentioned, &quot; As the radio played, we could notice the lines popping by like dots ahead of <strong><em>them</em></strong> as the lines were popping by like dots in front of <strong><em>us</em></strong>&quot;. <br />Danny then boasted, &quot;That&#039;s when they began finding out a 1959 Cadillac is not going to outrun a 1958 Studebaker Goldenhawk&quot;.<br />Lidia then said to Clarence, &quot; As soon as we were right up behind them though, Biff began trying to stop us from getting past them. So we had to slow down to their speed of 124 mph until we had a chance to pass them&quot;.<br />&quot;But here&#039;s where it all went wrong&quot;, Danny said, then explained, &quot; It wasn&#039;t long before we were about meet a car. I had planned that once Biff eased into the right lane to let the oncoming car by, I&#039;d zip around Biff and back into the right lane ahead of him in time to miss the oncoming car myself. But it didn&#039;t work that way. When Biff noticed I was trying to zip past him, he jerked that Cadillac back in my way, and that&#039;s when that Cadillac began skidding all over the road at 124 mph. I almost lost control of <strong><em>my</em></strong> car after I had to punch the brakes and swerve to avoid rear ending them&quot;.<br />Lidia said, &quot; That was really scary too. Their Cadillac began wildly fishtailing. Tires of both cars screaming and smoking against the pavement was so horrible. And that oncoming car was just about on us too&quot;.<br />&quot;I believe Biff was wildly oversteering that Cadillac&quot;, Danny said. &quot; For a split second that Cadillac was skidding sideways down the shoulder of Highway 54 at 124 mph, and then it flipped. That&#039;s when the car&#039;s lights went out, and when it began smashing up and sparking against the pavement with pieces flying off, and broken glass busting out all over the highway&quot;. <br />Lidia mentioned, &quot;Their driver&#039;s door also flung open and tore off &quot;.<br />Danny affirmed, &quot;Yea, it did. That&#039;s when we saw Biff get ejected. I myself was struggling to keep my car from going out of control&quot;, Danny said, then added. &quot; And it felt really bone chilling when we could barely hear Biff hollering despite the noise of <strong><em>their</em></strong> car flipping over and over at 124 mph, and the sound of the tires of <strong><em>my</em></strong> car screaming against the pavement&quot;.<br />&quot;I remember Biff was wearing a black leather jacket that night which wasn&#039;t zipped up&quot;, said Lidia. &quot; From the headlights of Danny&#039;s car briefly shining on Biff, we could see him flying through the air so fast that jacket flapped behind him like a cape in a hurricane&quot;.<br />&quot;So you actually watched Biff flying along?&quot;, Clarence asked.<br />&quot;Not exactly like that&quot;, Danny said to Clarence, &quot; It was only for a split second we saw Biff flying, but it felt like it was lot longer&quot;.<br />&quot;Those situations always do feel like forever&quot;, Al added. <br />&quot;All three of them bought black leather jackets a month earlier&quot;, Gerald interjected. <br />&quot;Oh yea. They thought those jackets would make them look bad ass&quot;, Cindy added.<br />&quot;Wouldn&#039;t be surprised if they shoplifted them&quot;, Buddy surmised as everyone agreed.<br />&quot;They very well could have&quot;, Danny agreed, then continued, &quot;A second or less after Biff was ejected, that oncoming car had to swerve off the highway, and it barely did miss hitting us and that Cadillac head on&quot;.<br />&quot;And it was only by inches too&quot;, Lidia said.<br />&quot;It was. It was really close&quot;, Danny mentioned, then explained to Clarence and his family, &quot;Biff was still flying airborne after he got ejected, and I mean to tell you - Biff - slammed - head on - with nothing more than his body - into - the hood - and - left headlight - of that oncoming car...We found out it was a 1956 0ldsmobile&quot;.<br />&quot;<strong><em>Those</em></strong> cars were built like a tank&quot;, Gerald interjected. &quot;I remember those cars when I was a teenager&quot;.<br />&quot;It all happened in a split second and it felt like shock witnessing it&quot;, Lidia added. &quot;Biff&#039;s body literally exploded and disintegrated when he slammed head on into that car&quot;.<br />&quot;Biff was hurled ahead of the Cadillac faster than 124 mph upon being ejected&quot;, Danny added. &quot; It looked like the oncoming car was going 60 or 70. That Oldsmobile looked like it was plowing through a red spray when Biff hit it head on&quot;. <br />&quot;Wow! I bet that must have been real scary&quot;, Clarence&#039;s sister, Rhonda, said.<br />&quot;Seeing something like that is a shock that will stay with you for life&quot;, Lidia affirmed to Rhonda.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Danny continued, &quot;Well anyway, we saw Richie also get ejected as the torn off driver&#039;s door of their Cadillac struck the side of my car. Then we saw the front left wheel tear off from the frame taking the tie rod and control arms with it, and the suspension spring for that wheel flying out. Then the hood tore off against some roadside boulders along with more parts tearing off.&quot;<br />Lidia mentioned, &quot;I remember one of the rear bumper ends that tore off and barely missed coming through the windshield of Danny&#039;s car&quot;.<br />&quot;<strong><em>That</em></strong> would not have ended well&quot;, Gerald interjected. &quot;Rear bumper ends on those 1959 Cadillacs were pretty sizable and stamped from heavy gauge steel&quot;.<br />Al mentioned to Gerald, &quot; That would have come through the windshield of Danny&#039;s car like a brick tearing through a sheet of wallpaper&quot;. <br />Danny further mentioned, &quot; We also saw gumball machines from the trunk of their car scatter everywhere and bust to pieces on the pavement&quot;.<br />Buddy interjected, &quot;I remember hearing about gumballs and pennies scattered all over the highway from those gumball machines getting busted up&quot;.<br />&quot;There was. We ran over a lot of it, and hitting gumballs and pennies that were bouncing up ahead of the car&quot;, Danny added. &quot; And an iron stem to one of those gumball machines got hung up under my car for about a second still going at 124 mph, then worked loose out from behind us. It lit up really bright under my car with a lot of sparks too&quot;.<br />&quot;They found out Biff and them <strong><em>stole</em></strong> those gumball machines too&quot;, Gerald said.<br />Lidia then mentioned, &quot;I remember the parts that tore off their car striking sparks on the pavement from flying, flipping and bouncing down the road at such a high speed&quot;.<br />&quot;Then their Cadillac struck a powerline pole sideways and up side down, still flying at over 120 mph&quot;, Danny said. &quot;Gaston rode with the car right into the powerline pole&quot;.<br />&quot;I remember that Cadillac sounded off with the loudest bang ever when it hit that pole&quot;, Lidia recalled.<br />&quot;The whole ordeal happened in matter of seconds&quot;, Danny said, then continued, &quot; But it felt like an eternity&quot;.<br />Lidia then mentioned, &quot; Then it was <strong><em>us</em></strong> not knowing if <strong><em>our</em></strong> car was next to get out of Danny&#039;s control and crash&quot;.<br />&quot;We were skidding from side to side all over the road at 120 mph with all four tires screaming and smoking&quot;, Danny said. &quot; We could hear stones being kicked up against the bottom of the car each time we left the pavement&quot;.<br />&quot;I remember the tires screaming sounded so horrible. It was all so surreal&quot;, Lidia said. &quot;I even remember Carl Beaver crying from the back seat, &#039;I don&#039;t wanna die&#039; &quot;. <br />&quot;I had to fight the steering wheel to stop the car from getting away from me...And my car <strong><em>did</em></strong> start getting out of my control and left the pavement for good&quot;, Danny said. &quot;I barely got it back under control though as we plowed through bushes and sand until we gradually slowed down, then finally came to a stop&quot;.<br />&quot;Before we slowed down and stopped, I was scared Danny&#039;s car was going to run up on the railroad tracks that run beside Highway 54 and flip over&quot;, Lidia said, &quot; When we finally stopped, Danny&#039;s car was stuck in the sand, and with front end damage from plowing through the bushes. That made it impossible for us to flee the scene. But at least it was over. We were all so relieved it was finally over&quot;.<br />&quot;Oh how I remember that night well&quot;, Danny said. &quot; That was the most scared I&#039;ve ever been in my life&quot;.<br />&quot;Same here&quot;, Lidia affirmed. &quot;I was beginning to think all four of us were going to die along with Biff, Richie and Gaston&quot;.<br />Danny then mentioned, &quot;I remember how angry that wolf couple were in the Oldsmobile that was almost hit by Biff and Richie&#039;s dad&#039;s Cadillac head on&quot;.<br />&quot;They almost hit <strong><em>our</em></strong> car head on too&quot;, Lidia added. &quot; When they turned around and came back, we noticed they had three cubs with them who looked like they&#039;ve been scared half out of their wits&quot;.<br />Danny agreed, &quot;I can imagine those cubs <strong><em>would</em></strong> have been scared. I remember that Oldsmobile of theirs having blood all over it from bumper to bumper from when Biff flew head on into it. And the hood and fender was all buckled up too, and with only one headlight working. There was also bush and shrub foliage impaled into the grill from where they had to swerve off of the highway&quot;.<br />&quot;You know Biff hit that Oldsmobile really hard to buckle the hood and fender like he did&quot;, Jed mentioned. &quot;I&#039;m sure us older folks remember cars back in those days were made from real Detroit iron and steel&quot;.<br />&quot;You&#039;re talking about a 1956 Oldsmobile, I&#039;d say so&quot;, Charley agreed, then mentioned, &quot; Those cars were before my time, but I have heard old timers say it took a lot more to bend those cars than what it takes to bend these cars now days&quot;.<br />&quot;A gruesome sight <strong><em>I&#039;ll</em></strong> never forget was some of that blood dripping down on the pavement from the front of their car&quot; Lidia mentioned to Clarence&#039;s family. &quot; And some of Biff &#039;s blood was splattered on Danny&#039;s car too&quot;.<br />&quot;Along with a belly full of whiskey&quot;, Sheryl&#039;s husband, Dean, jested.<br />Danny added, &quot; When Biff slammed head on into that Oldsmobile, his blood, guts and body chunks just...exploded like a bomb...everywhere&quot;.<br /><strong><em>&quot;Eue!&quot;</em></strong>, Clarence&#039;s sister, Rhonda, exclaimed. <br />&quot;Well one thing&#039;s for. That boy never had time to feel it&quot;, Clarence&#039;s dad, Charley, surmised. <br />&quot;No doubt a painless way to go&quot;, Clarence&#039;s mom, Alice, added. <br />&quot;I bet their Cadillac had Biff&#039;s blood on it too&quot;, Clarence&#039;s older brother, Jack, said.<br />&quot;There was so much blood all over that Cadillac, it was hard to tell who&#039;s blood was who&#039;s&quot;, Danny replied to Jack, then mentioned, &quot; And the ground and pavement where Biff hit that Olds looked like a slaughter house had been there&quot;.<br />Lidia also mentioned. &quot; And there was a torn shred of Biff &#039;s leather jacket hanging in where the left headlight use to be&quot;.<br />&quot;I remember seeing that strip of jacket now that you mentioned it&quot;, Danny replied to Lidia, then mentioned, &quot;I also recall pieces of bent up chrome windshield molding torn loose and sticking up in the air&quot;.<br />Lidia then mentioned, &quot;Well anyway, you should have heard the lecture their dad and mom gave us before they left to find a payphone to report the accident&quot;.<br />&quot;Mostly about teenagers racing on public highways&quot;, Danny added. &quot; And their dad threatened to drag me out of my car and beat me up, though never did do it&quot;.<br />&quot;How I remember that well&quot;, Lidia mentioned. &quot; And I was scared he was going to for a minute there&quot;.<br />&quot;I know that Oldsmobile of theirs with all that blood on it had to have been a gruesome sight to be rolling into the town of Vaughn to find that payphone&quot;, Buddy said.<br />&quot;Well, they were the only ones there at the time who had a car that runs and could go report the wreck&quot;, Dotty mentioned to her husband, Buddy.<br />&quot;True&quot;, Buddy agreed, then mentioned, &quot; At least it was late at night when everyone wasn&#039;t out and about to see it&quot;.<br />&quot;The cat couple eventually arrived in the Corvair, and they didn&#039;t have anything nice to say about it either&quot;, Danny added. &quot; It kind of struck me when that male cat rubbed it in by asking me how fast can my car go <strong><em>now</em></strong>&quot;.<br />&quot;Yup...They were nearly as bent as those wolf parents were&quot;, Lidia added. <br />Marge mentioned, &quot; We can be sure the carnage along the highway, the blood, the car wrapped around the pole and the debris strewn everywhere was not a pretty sight for those three wolf cubs to have been seeing&quot;.<br />&quot;Those cubs watching Biff explode against the front of their mom and dad&#039;s car had to be the worst of it all&quot;, Buddy added.<br />&quot;Yes, you are absolutely right&quot;, Marge agreed with Buddy. &quot;I can only imagine how shocking an experience like that must be&quot;. <br />&quot;You know, you two are lucky to be alive today&quot;, Al said to Danny and Lidia.<br />&quot;We certainly are&quot;, Danny admitted. &quot; You do know I had to do five years prison time for it though&quot;.<br />&quot;Along with Danny, they also arrested Carl Beaver, Suzan Beaver and I that night&quot;, Lidia said to Clarence. &quot; But Danny was the only one out of us four who was prosecuted. Charges were dismissed for Carl, Suzan and I during the arraignments&quot;.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&quot;But why did you have to go to prison for anyway?&quot;, Clarence Coyote asked Danny Otter. &quot;Wasn&#039;t it Biff who was the one who wrecked the Cadillac?&quot;<br />Danny explained to Clarence, &quot;Yes that was so. But because I was driving the car we were racing them with, I too was held responsible for their deaths&quot;.<br />Buddy mentioned to Danny, &quot; We always did think the reason you got only 5 years was because Biff, Richie and Gaston were a constant thorn in the side to everyone in this county&quot;.<br />Gerald further said to Danny, &quot; If that wolf family in the Oldsmobile had gotten killed, I&#039;m sure you&#039;d be doing life without the possibility of parole&quot;.<br />&quot;By the way, that&#039;s how you lost your apprenticeship with Horizon Innovations&quot;, Al said to Danny.<br />&quot;I know your dad was awful disappointed&quot;, Marge reminded Danny. <br />&quot;Yup. It took Greg Otter a long time to get over that&quot;, Al added.<br />&quot;I know. Letting Biff talk me into that road race was a big mistake in my life&quot;, Danny further admitted.<br />Lidia mentioned, &quot;I remember all too well how hot fire mad my dad and mom were at me when they had to come down to the jail that night to bail me out&quot;. <br />Danny replied to Lidia, &quot; When my mom and dad were also posting <strong><em>my</em></strong> bail, I remember to this day that comment your dad said to you&quot;.<br />&quot;Oh yea, <strong><em>that</em></strong>&quot;, Lidia interjected. &quot; He raved, &#039;Ohhh, I just lovvve dropping by at the jailhouse hours after midnight to pick up my daughter&#039; &quot;.<br />&quot;Carl&#039;s parents and Susan&#039;s parents weren&#039;t very happy either that night&quot;, Danny recalled.<br />&quot;Oh that goes without saying&quot;, Lidia added.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&quot;How bad was their Cadillac all tore up?&quot;, Clarence asked. &quot; What all was it like there?&quot;<br />&quot;You could barely tell it was a Cadillac for one thing&quot;, Danny answered Clarence. &quot; And the car was wrapped like a boomerang around the power line pole. The mid section of the car where it hit the pole wasn&#039;t even two feet wide. And that&#039;s where Gaston was&quot;.<br />Lidia also mentioned to Clarence, &quot; There were about half a dozen state police cars there. There were several sheriff&#039;s deputies cars, including the two they had Susan and I in, and Danny and Carl in. There was the flatbed truck to haul away the Cadillac, and the crane truck to load it. There was the tow truck to tow Danny&#039;s car away. They even had a tanker fire truck there because for a while they were scared the gas tank was going to explode&quot;.<br />&quot;Everyone was so thankful there was no gas tank explosion&quot;, Gerald added.<br />&quot;Oh <strong><em>that&#039;s</em></strong> for sure&quot;, Lidia agreed, then continued telling Clarence, &quot; There was the coroner&#039;s station wagon. There was a county maintenance panel truck there because the coroner&#039;s car could haul only two bodies. There were the power company trucks waiting on standby to restore power once the wreck scene was cleared. They set road flares on the highway in both directions beyond the wreck scene. They had that wreck scene lit up with police car headlights&quot;. <br />Danny mentioned, &quot; Some of the sheriff deputies&#039; cars had spotlights in addition to the headlights&quot;.<br />Lidia continuing telling Clarence, &quot;A news crew eventually showed up. And the powerline pole was broken and partially blocked Highway 54...Oh, and the wolf family in the Oldsmobile had returned from reporting the accident, and were there for a little while. Biff hitting their car involved them in the accident. And they also filled out a witness report and gave testimony of what they saw happen during the crash&quot;.<br />Danny also mentioned, &quot; While the fire department crew was still there, they cranked up their tanker truck and washed the blood off the Oldsmobile belonging to the wolf family&quot;. <br />&quot;That car was in bad need a wash down too&quot;, Lidia added. <br />&quot;Wow!&quot;, Clarence exclaimed. &quot; That place was pretty busy then&quot;.<br />&quot;A bad accident scene like that always <strong><em>is</em></strong> busy&quot;, Gerald added. <br />Buddy then mentioned, &quot;I heard Gaston&#039;s body was so mangled into the seat springs, that once they dragged the car away from the broken pole and turned it upright with a truck and a chain, they had to borrow bolt cutters from the power company crew to cut the seat springs loose that were impaled into pieces of his body in order to remove him from the car&quot;.<br />&quot;You heard exactly right&quot;, Gerald assured Buddy. &quot; With the driver&#039;s door gone, Gaston&#039;s body was the only thing between the powerline pole and the interior of that Cadillac&quot;.<br />&quot;So I take it the car hit the pole driver&#039;s side first then&quot;, Buddy surmised.<br />&quot;It did&quot;, Gerald affirmed to Buddy.&quot; The side with the door gone&quot;.<br />Al mentioned, &quot;I remember Anthony Lynx telling me how he and his power company crew watched the coroner workers and state police officers collect up fragments of Gaston&#039;s body off the ground and roadway, along with pieces of the car. Anthony said his body fragments and pieces of the car were strewn out as far as 350 feet beyond where the car hit the pole&quot;.<br />&quot;They also scraped some of Gaston&#039;s remains off of that broken powerline pole I&#039;ve heard tell&quot;, Gerald added. <br />&quot;Probably some guts and brain matter along with it&quot;, Buddy surmised, then mentioned, &quot; That boy&#039;s body was literally pulverized&quot;.<br />Rex mentioned, &quot;I remember hearing about Gaston&#039;s skeleton being shattered into bone fragments when that Cadillac struck that pole&quot;.<br />Danny replied to Gerald and Buddy, &quot; When they had Lidia, Carl, Susan and I sitting in the back of Sheriff&#039;s patrol cars, we actually witnessed that. We also saw some of Gaston&#039;s guts spilling out of the wreckage of the car when they turned it upright with the truck and chain&quot;. <br />&quot;I remember what was left to that Cadillac wobbled like jello when it flopped down to the ground upright&quot;, Lidia interjected. &quot; And the metal creaking sounds it made was enough to make you cringe&quot;. <br />&quot;Why was that?&quot;, Clarence asked. &quot;I thought Cadillacs were built strong&quot;.<br />&quot;The car was structurally weakened from being smashed up so bad&quot;, Danny answered Clarence, then continued, &quot;Gaston&#039;s body bag was filled with parts and pieces of Gaston before being wheeled on a gurney to the coroner&#039;s station wagon. That&#039;s all that was left to him&quot;.<br />&quot;I remember all that blood too&quot;, Lidia mentioned, then continued, &quot; And another thing that will stick with me for the rest of my life is seeing some of Gaston&#039;s remains dripping from that broken powerline pole when they turned that Cadillac back upright&quot;.<br />&quot;The inside of what was left to that Cadillac was <em><strong>plastered</strong></em> with blood&quot;, Danny added.<br /><em><strong>&quot;Ewuuu gross!&quot;</strong></em>, Clarence, Rhonda and older brother Jack exclaimed. <br />&quot;They didn&#039;t take us to jail right away&quot;, Lidia said to Clarence. &quot; It was like they wanted to keep us around a while to have us get a good look at what we&#039;ve done...And yea. What was left of Gaston was gruesome&quot;.<br />Charley then mentioned, &quot;Yea...Our bodies are flesh, bone and blood. That car is made of steel. And that powerline pole is solid wood. It never ends well being smashed between a powerline pole and a car at 120 mph or better&quot;.<br />&quot;They were still keeping us out there when a KSWS TV news crew showed up too&quot;, Danny added.<br />&quot;And when Gaston&#039;s parents also arrived as the sheriff&#039;s deputies began taking us to jail&quot;, Lidia mentioned to Clarence, then continued, &quot; If I live to be 100, I&#039;ll never forget seeing Gaston&#039;s mom hysterically screaming and beating on the dashboard of their car when she saw the wreckage of the Cadillac with all that blood in it being chained down to the flatbed truck&quot;.<br />&quot;On our way to jail, we saw Biff and Richie&#039;s parents on their way to the crash site&quot;, Danny said to Clarence. &quot;Carl Beaver and I recognized their 1960 Cadillac. And they were flying on their way there like a bat out of Hell&quot;.<br />&quot;That had to have been the worst night of their lives&quot;, Gerald said. <br />&quot;And just before Christmas too&quot;, Cindy added. <br />&quot;Kind of makes you wonder how state police officers and sheriff&#039;s deputies are able to deal with all of that&quot;, Charley mentioned. <br />&quot;Well, they do&quot;, Gerald replied. &quot; But they don&#039;t like it when they have work an accident that&#039;s that bad&quot;.<br />Jed mentioned, &quot; There was that one state police officer Anthony Lynx told us about. Remember? The one who <strong><em>couldn&#039;t</em></strong> handle dealing with that accident, and had to request the rest of the night off &quot;.<br />&quot;Oh I remember the one you&#039;re talking about&quot;, Danny Otter said to Jed Coyote. &quot; He was a young fox. Carl and I noticed him leaving in his patrol car before they took us to jail&quot;.<br />&quot;Susan and I saw him too&quot;, Lidia added. &quot; He couldn&#039;t have been more than 25 years old&quot;.<br />&quot;Police officers are use to seeing bad wrecks though, aren&#039;t they?&quot;, Clarence asked.<br />&quot;I thought so too&quot;, Jack added.<br />Al mentioned to Clarence and his siblings, &quot;Anthony found out from talking with one of the other state police officers, that young fox at that time had been a state trooper for about only 7 months&quot;.<br />&quot;Must have been a Hell of a sight for him to witness so early in his police career&quot;, Charley&#039;s wife, Alice, mentioned.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <br />Jed then mentioned, &quot;I remember Ryan Lynx telling me his dad said Richie wasn&#039;t pulverized as bad as Biff and Gaston were, but he was still smashed flat as a pancake&quot;.<br />&quot;An easy thing for a 5,000 pound Cadillac tumbling at 120 mph to do to someone&quot;, Al commented.<br />Rex mentioned, &quot; They believed it was the roof of the car Richie was crushed under, why he was only flattened&quot;.<br />&quot;Gerald and I had heard from Sandra that their bodies were torn up so badly, all three of them had closed casket funerals&quot;, Cindy mentioned. <br />&quot;And all over a $100 bet and who&#039;s car is faster&quot;, Sheryl exclaimed. <br />&quot;Sandra was Biff&#039;s girlfriend as I remember&quot;, said Buddy.<br />&quot;Yes she was&quot;, Dotty affirmed to her husband Buddy.<br />&nbsp;Danny continued, &quot;Getting back to the car, I remember part of the hourglass shaped frame was busted apart where it normally forms an ex under the center of the car&quot;.<br />&quot;Yup. Those cars did have hourglass frames&quot;, Jed mentioned.<br />&quot;Many General Motors cars did during that day and time&quot;, Al added.<br />&quot;The transmission was also busted wide open&quot;, said Danny. &quot;I recall a planetary gear assembly falling out of the transmission and dropping into the flatbed truck when the crane was loading the car on. Then a broken piece of shaft with what appeared to be a sun gear attached to it fell out, followed by clutch pack disks falling out&quot;.&nbsp;&nbsp; <br />&quot;Why didn&#039;t they use a tow truck?&quot;, Clarence asked.<br />&quot;They couldn&#039;t, Son&quot;, Charley affirmed to Clarence. &quot; How would they tow a car in that condition?&quot;<br />Clarence&#039;s older brother, Jack, added, &quot; The only thing a tow truck could do with a car like <strong><em>that</em></strong> is drag it, unless they had one heck of a tow dolly&quot;.<br />&quot;That car had to be hauled away chained down to a flatbed truck&quot;, Al affirmed to Clarence, then said to Jack, &quot; And it was beyond any tow dolly you could imagine&quot;.<br />Gerald added, &quot;A lot of it&#039;s pieces were stuffed into the trunk...or where ever else they could secure them on the truck&quot;. <br />Jed mentioned, &quot; As I recall when we went to see the car the next day, the interior of that Cadillac was smashed down so narrow, there sure was no place in <strong><em>there</em></strong> to pile any of those busted off parts&quot;. <br />Danny Otter affirmed, &quot;Just before sheriff&#039;s deputies took us to jail that night, Carl and I noticed they didn&#039;t even <strong><em>try</em></strong> to put any of those pieces in the interior. It was smashed in so tight, there wasn&#039;t any room to put anything&quot;.<br />&quot;Susan and I noticed the same thing from the sheriff&#039;s car <strong><em>we</em></strong> were in&quot;, Lidia added. <br />&quot;And you know?...That was also the same night we had that big blizzard set it&quot;, Wanda recalled.<br />Al mentioned, &quot;Anthony Lynx told us that blizzard had set in not long after the accident scene was cleared&quot;.<br />&quot;Just in time for his crew to have to work out in it restoring the power lines&quot;, Marge added.<br />&quot;I&#039;m glad they brought that coffee keg along with them&quot;, Wanda said. &quot;I&#039;m sure in that blizzard, hot coffee was a blessing to have&quot;.<br />&quot;I remember as cubs how happy we were to see all that snow when we got up in the morning&quot;, Donna said. &quot;I was six years old then&quot;.<br />Jed mentioned, &quot;Come daylight and when the blizzard let up, Dad took us to the gas station in Vaughn where the Cadillac was taken to. I remember seeing where a valve cover was sheered off and part of one of the engine heads was broke away where you could see the tops of two pistons&quot;.<br />&quot;There were <strong><em>lots</em></strong> of stuff sheered off that engine&quot;, Rex added, then mentioned, &quot;I also remember the section of the car where it hit the pole, you could stand on the ground and at the same time be standing at the steering wheel...or what was left to it&quot;.<br />&quot;The engine must have been slammed across a boulder&quot;, Al surmised, then recalled, &quot; When we went to see that car, I remember it also wasn&#039;t very far from being torn in two&quot;.<br />&quot;I could see that it came close to them having to haul that Cadillac away in two pieces&quot;, Gerald recalled. &quot;Cindy and I also rode to the gas station to see that car after we heard about the wreck&quot;.<br />&quot;It was the worst I&#039;ve ever seen a car wrecked&quot;, Cindy affirmed. &quot; And I&#039;ve never seen another one wrecked that bad since to this day&quot;.<br />Jed added, &quot; And I don&#039;t think there was a single part salvageable to that car&quot;.<br />&quot;Straight from the insurance auction to the crusher&quot;, Rex remarked.<br />Donna also recalled, &quot;I remember the traces of blood that were still all over that Cadillac even after they hosed it down earlier that morning&quot;.<br />&quot;I know it happened a year before I was born&quot;, Beverly said. &quot; But I know that had to look gruesome&quot;.<br />&quot;Anthony Lynx told me the top of that powerline pole was hanging three feet above the northbound lane of Highway 54&quot;, Gerald said.<br />&quot;That pole must have been broken really good&quot;, Clarence said.<br />&quot;That Cadillac snapped that pole like a matchstick&quot;, Gerald replied. &quot; And with powerlines everywhere on the ground according to what Anthony said&quot;.<br />&quot;There were downed powerlines all over that crash site&quot;, Danny Otter affirmed, then mentioned, &quot;I also remember hearing about how astronomical the claim was that the power utility company filed against Biff and Richie&#039;s dad&#039;s auto insurance&quot;.<br />&quot;And the claim that wolf family filed for the damage to their Oldsmobile&quot;, Gerald added. &quot;I had heard from where Biff slammed head on into that car, the hood was buckled up and the left fender bowed outward so bad those had to be replaced. The windshield was cracked up and had to be replaced too&quot;.<br />Buddy further added, &quot;I heard tell the driver&#039;s side mirror was also torn off, causing the driver&#039;s door to require body work. Chrome windshield molding had to be replaced. And the left grill section had to be replaced. That big massive bumper survived though&quot;.<br />&quot;I never knew about the mirror&quot;, Gerald replied to Buddy. &quot;Chunks of Biff &#039;s body must have caught that mirror and the windshield molding just right&quot;.<br />Sheryl mentioned, &quot;I heard the wolf couple weren&#039;t sure if it was a chunk of Biff &#039;s body or the Cadillac that knocked the mirror off their car&quot;.<br />Dean added, &quot;According to the husband, the wolf family saw the front end of that Cadillac flash by within inches of their driver&#039;s side windows&quot;.<br />&quot;Wow! You know <strong><em>that</em></strong> had to close&quot;, Charley affirmed.<br />&quot;<strong><em>Too</em></strong> close&quot;, Alice added.<br />Jed mentioned, &quot;I heard the body shop had to spend hours running a couple of garden hoses with a cleaning solution into the cowl vent in front of the windshield to wash Biff &#039;s blood from inside the cowl&quot;.<br />&quot;Yes they did&quot;, Rex affirmed. &quot; That decomposing blood in there would stink up the car with a dead smell every time the wolf family used the heater or air conditioner&quot;.<br /><br /><em>The video linked below shows a 1956 Oldsmobile like the one the wolf family had.</em><br /><a href=\"https://youtu.be/saDUGaWBs3s?t=125\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://youtu.be/saDUGaWBs3s?t=125</a><br /><br />&quot;Oh, and remember the jet plane style hood ornaments those Oldsmobiles had?&quot;, Buddy asked.<br />&quot;I sure do&quot;, Gerald answered. &quot;Who could forget them?&quot;<br />&quot;Well Biff &#039;s body tore that hood ornament off upon impact too&quot;, Buddy replied. &quot; And they never <strong><em>did</em></strong> find that ornament&quot;.<br />&quot;You think that ornament is still there yet to this day?&quot;, Jack Coyote asked.<br />&quot;Could be&quot;, Buddy replied.<br />&quot;I wouldn&#039;t mind finding it&quot;, Jack proclaimed. <br />&quot;That would be so cool&quot;, Clarence added.<br />&quot;Where exactly on Highway 54 did that wreck happen?&quot;, Jack asked.<br />&quot;We&#039;re going to Santa Rosa tomorrow morning&quot;, Jed offered to Jack and Clarence. &quot;I&#039;ll be glad to give you a ride and show you if your parents are okay with it&quot;.<br />&quot;I&#039;m good with it&quot;, Charley granted permission as Alice agreed. <br />Charley and Alice knew they could trust Clarence in the custody of Jed and his wife. After all, Jed was one of Clarence&#039;s foster siblings and a playmate during the 6 months Clarence was back in the year 1960. <br />&quot;Of course, that ornament would be pitted really bad by now after 58 years of being there if it was&quot;, Al added.<br />&quot;Yea, let&#039;s see&quot;, Charley remarked, &quot;Hood, fender, hood ornament, headlight and bezel, mirror, windshield, grill, chrome molding, body work to the driver&#039;s door...Not to mention repainting, and washing blood out of the cowl...Sounds like Biff racked up a hefty repair bill on that car&quot;.<br />Gerald mentioned, &quot;Biff did a lot of damage to that 1956 Oldsmobile with nothing more than his body becoming a high speed missile against that car&quot;.<br />&quot;Wasn&#039;t anything left to Biff &#039;s body either I heard tell&quot;, Rex added.<br />&quot;There wasn&#039;t&quot;, Lidia affirmed as Danny nodded in agreement. &quot;Danny, Carl, Susan and I actually witnessed it happen&quot;.<br />&quot;We actually saw that Oldsmobile literally vaporize Biff&quot;, Danny added.<br />Al commented, &quot;I know Reginald and Diana Pitbull weren&#039;t too happy about that along with loosing their two sons&quot;.<br />Cindy added, &quot; And on the night it happened, I can only imagine how devastating it was to the parents of those three when the state police notified them&quot;.<br />&quot;They got those visits at around one o&#039;clock am&quot;, Gerald further added, &quot; It always is hard on any parent to be awaken in the middle of the night to be told their offspring had died&quot;.<br />&quot;It&#039;s never an easy thing for a police officer to have to tell a parent either&quot;, Jed added. <br />&quot;Well maybe if Reginald and Diana had raised their sons right, they might be alive today&quot;, Marge mentioned, &quot; And the same goes for Gaston&#039;s parents too&quot;. <br />Wanda then mentioned to Danny, &quot; And because that moron, Biff, talked you into a road race, poor Anthony Lynx and his crew had to be called out of bed in the middle of the night before Christmas Eve to come replace the pole and restore the powerlines&quot;.<br />&quot;Besides working in that blizzard when it set in too&quot;, Al added. &quot; It was the crack of dawn before they completed the repairs and got power restored to Pastura&quot;.<br />&quot;I remember that blizzard, and hearing about how that powerline crew had to work out in it&quot;, said Jerald.<br />Cindy added, &quot; When Gerald and I found out about the accident, I felt so sorry for Anthony and them that they had to work in that blizzard. And we were warm and snug in bed in our house trailer that night&quot;.<br />&quot;Well, I guess when you&#039;re a line worker like Ryan and Janice&#039;s dad was, situations like that come with the job&quot;, Jed mentioned. &quot;I know Anthony sure was glad to get home to his family that morning, where it was warm, his wife had breakfast ready, and the radio playing Christmas music&quot;.<br />&quot;I bet Ryan and Janice were asking their dad what is was like&quot;, Clarence proclaimed. <br />&quot;It was on the morning television news an hour after Anthony got home&quot;, Gerald replied. <br />After the story of what happened to Biff, Richie and Gaston, everyone socialized a while longer until it started getting late. Eventually everyone bid good night and headed on home. It certainly has been a very good birthday party for Sheryl. Then once everyone had left, the Claymont Coyote Family headed for bed. And this was the first time in over six months Clarence slept in his regular bed with his actual family, at his actual home, and during his home day and time in the year 2018.<br /><br />It was about 3:00 am when Roswell International Air Center authorities showed up with the tractor trailer flatbed truck and crane to bring the time machine back to Roswell. Fortunately, Clarence&#039;s belongings he came back from 1960 with had been already taken out of the time machine a few hours ago.<br />Of course there was the knock on the door, which Charley answered.<br />The authorities said to Charley, &quot;Mr. Claymont Coyote. We&#039;d like to ask your son Clarence a few questions&quot;.<br />Charley knew that visit was coming and went in to wake up Clarence.<br />&quot;Some authorities from Roswell want to talk to you about the time machine, Son&quot;, Charley said to Clarence.<br />The questioning was conducted in the living room with Clarence&#039;s parents, Charley and Alice, present. After 10 minutes of questions, the authorities were satisfied that Clarence&#039;s trip to 1960 was by accident. One of them even admitted that on February 9th the scientists should have had the door closed on the time machine so Clarence, or any other cub, could not have access inside.<br />One of the other Roswell International Air Center authorities remarked, &quot; Those air force boys missed getting that time machine 58 years ago. But we have possession of it now&quot;.<br />Once they were done, the family was able to get back to bed. Then the authorities got the time machine loaded onto the truck and flatbed trailer rig which was prepared for a 17 foot wide load...The time machine is 14 feet in diameter and each of it&#039;s four landing pods extended out another foot and a half.
