Mostly…. Could one of you read it back to me?”\n\n“Red… Fuck you” In-ka rubbed her temples. She was pretty sure that Red wasn’t just purely lying, but parsing out the truth from the comments about pregnant serial killer blood orgies would take some time. Chapter 31: The Cavalry

“In conclusion you are the survived abortion from a demon worshiping cult born through blood sacrifices and your whore mother thought that you’d be their last ditch attempt at world domination.”

In-ka blinked as she felt her mouth stop moving now that Red was done explaining things.  What she had said wasn’t the easiest to swallow.  Not the least of which was because it was peppered rather liberally with swears, and a disturbingly graphic description of her mother being ‘Passed around town till she saw more dick than a stadium’s urinal.’

“Red?” In-ka said taking a deep breath, “Was ANY of that true?”

“Of course.   Mostly….  Could one of you read it back to me?”

“Red… Fuck you” In-ka rubbed her temples.  She was pretty sure that Red wasn’t just purely lying, but parsing out the truth from the comments about pregnant serial killer blood orgies would take some time.  For now, the broad points that seemed likely, mostly, true.

One: In-ka’s family came from a people that made pacts with spiritual beings.

Two: In-ka was supposed to be bonded to a powerful entity

Three: In-ka was sent into some aether-space-something on purpose.

That was about all she could glean right off.  Taking red’s statements at face value meant that Red as some super hyper powerful spirit entity from beyond reality that in-ka’s parents were desperate to bind to her.  Of course, said Red was far too much of a crude manipulative liar to make such an arrogant claim even remotely credible.  She still had some many questions, mostly about Karunada and Tamil, but she wasn’t in the mood to hear her bio parents slandered anymore, assuming red hadn’t changed their names in the story as some sort of in-joke.

The next one to talk was Lucy, “So this ‘red’ is supposed to be like… your stand?”

“My what?”

“It’s a jojo ref… eh I’ll explain later.  How does this help?”

“No, it started with two.  Don’t forget Civappu.” In-ka said.  “I don’t think red is creative enough to make all that up, besides the crude joke parts at least.  But she could be switching the roles.”

“Sooo…?” Lucy said prompting In-ka to continue, but a pulse of energy that even a non witch could sense sent shivers up each of their spines.  The forest itself seemed to get darker with whatever had caused it.

“Lucy…. You need to stay back.  This is going to get dangerous”

“Wha? I’m not standing naked alone in the damn forest!” Lucy blurted, “I mean.. I can still help somehow?  Even if you just need a… place to store ‘red’.
In-ka blinked, had Lucy just offered to be possessed again?  After her experience with Vesta?  Red was only marginally better than that.  Unfortunately, In-ka was pretty sure she didn’t have time to argue.  That energy had to have come from Kate, or the thing in her.  Whatever t was up to she couldn’t just let it finish.
Swallowing down the argument she wanted to make In-ka turned towards the energy and started forward.

“We’re getting close” Dan said matter of factly.  Michelle and Rebecca both perked up in the back seat after he said that.
