She didn’t even bother dressing first, almost anyone who was here was on break now anyway and any who were wouldn’t notice anything amiss with her illusion spells anyway so no point wasting time. While she walked she fished around in the back of her mind for the lantern she had left there. It would help her explore the dark brambles that existed in her subconscious where her childhood memories should have been.\nIt was a place she had taken some time to map over the years, but had never fully explored. Part of why was the inherent dangers of the place, and part of it was just not being sure if she really wanted to know what was there. It might hold the secrets of who she was before her adoption, or it might be home to nothing good to speak of.\n\nWhile her physical body continued walking towards her meditation spot in the forest her mind shifted more and more away from her real form and into her inner mind projection. She could keep awake enough to not walk into a tree, but at the same time mostly just walk on a kind of autopilot while she went deeper.\n\nShe found the lantern where she left it, hanging on a tree branch in the periphery of her mind. It still glowed with an almost eerie blue light. In-ka picked it up and blinked as she looked around, surveying the dark bramble forest before her. It always brought her a moment of confusion or even vertigo when she did this because she was seeing with the lantern’s light. Normally she didn’t see, at least not in the way others did. Her non functional eyes served little direction over her mutant fiber optic fur did in sensing her surroundings. In this place though she saw, with eyes, the path before her.\n\nFor a given value of path.\n\nOnce her physical body got to her meditation spot and knelt down she focused herself more fully on her mental landscape and started to push through the brambles exploring deeper. The lantern’s light pushed them aside for the most part and for when it wasn’t enough she pushed some of her mental will into this world of specters and thoughts and bent them aside as she strode onward.\n\nAs she walked, she saw flickers. Always did, but not generally enough to warrant a real memory. First was an image of a young wolf girl, same fur as her, but minus the markings, and without the glazed over eyes. She was playing catch with someone that In-ka couldn’t quite make out. Was that her as a child? And was she playing catch with one of her biological parents?\n\nIn-ka didn’t have the answers, and didn’t have the wherewithal to clear out the dark bramble to find it because of what else was here. After passing though several more fragments of maybe memories long forgotten she got to a clearing. A stone slab sat in the center of the clearing. A table perhaps but a tad low for that, and no chairs to speak of. Something told her that she once lay on this table, or altar, in the past, and something else, an intrusive thought poking at her mind, told her to lay on it again.\n\nShe stepped past it. It was not a memory she had indulged in the past, nor one she intended to indulge now. Laying on the slab just seemed like a bad idea even before you noticed the manacles attached to each corner. One day she may have to see what that memory held, but she had other things to focus on now. There wasn’t much bramble left after the slab, it mostly became a wall of thorns after, with nowhere to go and nothing to see.\n\nWell except for another lantern. Though this one glowed not in In-ka’s own eerie blue, but in a blood red crimson. It was held by a young adult wolf female, like In-ka herself. Also like herself the wolf had the same body type, the same facial structure and indeed most characteristics one might notice at first, save a few. Red fur along her belly, horns poking up from her head, and multiple tails hung out behind her into the darkness. In-ka braced herself for this conversation.\n\n“I can’t say I expected you to come see me any time soon, or ever” The red wolf said, “I thought you’d prefer to forget about me.”\n\nIn-ka looked her in the yes before speaking, “For awhile I thought I may have actually managed to kill you.”\n\n“Well you with the help of everyone else, AND with all the force of the emotions you managed to harvest from that little ritual. And despite all that I’m still here.”\n\n“Indeed” In-ka deadpanned, “Well some percentage of you is at least.”\n\n“Ouch” The red wolf stepped off her brambles and walked up close to In-ka, “but to the point. What is it that you want.”\n\nIn-ka took a breath, “I need some help”\n\nThe red wolf burst out in a barking laugh, half doubling over as she was briefly lost to hysterics. Then she arched her back, pounding her feet to the floor and continuing the belly laugh.\n\n“Milking it huh, red?” In-ka deadpanned again.\n\n“You go through all the effort to banish me from your more conscious mind, and yet you now waltz right into my thorny prison and ask for help?” Red chuckled again, “So what? High and mighty In-ka got herself in enough of a bind to sell her soul to me for power.”\n\n“What power?” In-ka asked with a casual shrug.\n\nThat one seemed to really annoy red who stopped laughing immediately and glared at In-ka for a long moment, “No need to be so rude.”\n\n“I’ll be as rude as I need to, red.” In-ka said, slowly walking a circle around her demon, “And No you are not getting anyone’s soul, you are also not getting out of this prison of yours.”\n\nRed crossed her arms, “No souls, no freedom, no deal, Inky. Why should I help you if you aren’t giving me anything of value.”\n\n“I’m not letting you free. But maybe… just MAYBE… I could let you breathe some fresh air from time to time. I can’t imagine the brambles make the most comfortable of rooms.\n\n“Indeed not. Though I have to wonder why you haven’t don’t more pruning. Who you are, WHAT you are, is all in here you know. All for the taking.”\n“None of that is relevant.” In-ka said cutting her off.\n\nRed was undeterred, “I assure you it is very, VERY, relevant.”\n\n“Not relevant to me.” In-ka repeated, “What I’m here to ask about is the other demon. The one on the loose right now with Kate.”\n\n“Ohh my my my!!!” Red said with another chuckle, “No wonder you’re willing to talk to little old me. I’m almost surprise you volunteered that much information.”\n\n“As if you didn’t already know. You’re cut off in here, but not THAT cut off. Another active demon is something you would still have noticed.”\nRed shrugged, “Perhaps. And perhaps I could have warned you about her in advance, if ONLY you were nicer to me.”\n\n“As if you would have.” In-ka snapped, “What I’m interested in now is where she is, and what her plans are. So, deal or not. I put you on a ‘work release’ program and you start talking about this other demon we have now.”\n\n“Fine” Red paced about, plopping her butt down on the stone slab that represented some long-forgotten memory in In-ka’s mind, “First, it’s not another demon. It’s me.”\n\n“Ex-Fucking-Scuse me?” In-ka said with a snarl and stepped closer, “You saying YOU are holding my mate somewhere, bitch?”\n\n“Well not intentionally. And for awhile not knowingly.”\n\n“Make sense!” In-ka snapped, “Now.”\n\nRed chuckled, laying down on the slab, Manacles jumping to life and attempting to latch onto her arms and legs only to be blasted back by blood red lightning, “It’s the part of me that you ‘Killed’ Ripped and tore it from me and cast it to the proverbial wolves. That hurt, a lot, by the way.”\n\n“My heard bleeds for you” In-ka said with dripping sarcasm, “Can you find… yourself… or not.”\n\n“Perhaps. One of her hosts would help, and not Michelle, as her own magic will mess with the trace. Luckily for you, you may have one on hand.”\n\nA snap from a real world twig brought In-ka back to her actual body. She did a brief mental readjustment to being blind again and sent out a pulse of energy like an echolocation in the forest. There was a girl there. College age, but chubby, some sort of rodent, and nude. ‘Another witch’ In-ka thought at first, but no. This girl wasn’t emitting any sort of power, and from what in-ka could sense of her body language she was lost and terrified.\n\n“Come out” In-ka said out loud to the forest, “Not going to hurt you.”\n\nA squirrel girl stepped out from behind a tree, desperately covering herself with her arms to hide her embarrassment at being out in the forest naked. “H-hello ma’am…”\n\nIn-ka stood to face the girl, who’s eyes widened at the realization that In-ka was as in the buff as she was, though far less embarrassed about that fact.\n“Uh UH UH…. Uh.. w-where am I… ma’am.. what… happened? Where did my clothes go?… Where did YOUR clothes go? Why are we in the woods?”\n\n“I suspect I know about half of that answer, Lucy.” In-ka said, pausing while the girl jumped back in shock that her name was known, “Though I’d like to hear the second half from you personally before I make assumptions.”\n\n“I.. I’d like to find… un.. pants and a shirt first… “\n\nIn-ka snapped her fingers and cast an illusion over the pair. Both were suddenly dressed, or at least appeared to be so.\n\n“Ahh what.. how!?” Lucy said jumping again, “It’s like… Magic…”\n\n“Explanations later, Lucy.” In-ka said stepping over to the squirrel, “I’m on a bit of a clock and I need some information from you. So, start from the beginning.”\n\nPosted using PostyBirb",

In-ka said with dripping sarcasm, &ldquo; Can you find&hellip; yourself&hellip; or not.&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;Perhaps.&nbsp;&nbsp;One of her hosts would help, and not Michelle, as her own magic will mess with the trace.&nbsp;&nbsp;Luckily for you, you may have one on hand.&rdquo;<br /><br />A snap from a real world twig brought In-ka back to her actual body.&nbsp;&nbsp; She did a brief mental readjustment to being blind again and sent out a pulse of energy like an echolocation in the forest.&nbsp;&nbsp; There was a girl there.&nbsp;&nbsp;College age, but chubby, some sort of rodent, and nude.&nbsp;&nbsp;&lsquo;Another witch&rsquo; In-ka thought at first, but no.&nbsp;&nbsp; This girl wasn&rsquo;t emitting any sort of power, and from what in-ka could sense of her body language she was lost and terrified.<br /><br />&ldquo;Come out&rdquo; In-ka said out loud to the forest, &ldquo; Not going to hurt you.&rdquo;<br /><br />A squirrel girl stepped out from behind a tree, desperately covering herself with her arms to hide her embarrassment at being out in the forest naked.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;H-hello ma&rsquo;am&hellip;&rdquo;<br /><br />In-ka stood to face the girl, who&rsquo;s eyes widened at the realization that In-ka was as in the buff as she was, though far less embarrassed about that fact.<br />&ldquo;Uh UH UH&hellip;. Uh.. w-where am I&hellip; ma&rsquo;am.. what&hellip; happened? Where did my clothes go?&hellip; Where did YOUR clothes go?&nbsp;&nbsp; Why are we in the woods?&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;I suspect I know about half of that answer, Lucy.&rdquo; In-ka said, pausing while the girl jumped back in shock that her name was known, &ldquo;Though I&rsquo;d like to hear the second half from you personally before I make assumptions.&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;I.. I&rsquo;d like to find&hellip; un.. pants and a shirt first&hellip; &ldquo;<br /><br />In-ka snapped her fingers and cast an illusion over the pair.&nbsp;&nbsp; Both were suddenly dressed, or at least appeared to be so.<br /><br />&ldquo;Ahh what.. how!?&rdquo; Lucy said jumping again, &ldquo; It&rsquo;s like&hellip; Magic&hellip;&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;Explanations later, Lucy.&rdquo; In-ka said stepping over to the squirrel, &ldquo;I&rsquo;m on a bit of a clock and I need some information from you.&nbsp;&nbsp; So, start from the beginning.&rdquo;<br /><br /><a href=\"http://www.postybirb.com\" rel=\"nofollow\">Posted using PostyBirb</a></span>",
