The whiplash of riding high on her newfound power to laying naked against the wall under the whiteboard while her teacher landed kick after kick into her guts.\n\nWell probably former teacher at this point.\n\nRight at this point it was about all Michelle could do to generate a damping field to keep her ribs from breaking with each blow. The power, her power, wasn’t responding like it had been up till now. It had always com so fluidly ever since she had met….\n\nWell apparently, it wasn’t really her power after all. Vesta hadn’t been training her, she had been duping her, and this was the result. She really was weak. She really was just an idiot. She had fucked up worse than she ever thought possible and now, well, now she was starting to think she was going to die.\n\nThe tears started flowing at what she had just lost, and she choked back a cough as a blow forced some phlegm from her throat. She barely felt the kicks anymore, just something that was happening, so she didn’t realize right away when they stopped either. The next thing she was aware of was the room tilting, or un-tilting, as someone lifted her by her arm. Even knowing full well how magical enhancements worked it was still scary how strong In-ka’s grip felt around her forearm as she was lifted up. She didn’t have the strength to find her footing just yet so she just hung by her arm, weaky looking up at her mistress.\n\n“What happened?” In-ka said with a glare, clear anger visible in her sightless golden eyes.\n\n“I … d-do…” talking was hard for Michelle. Her mouth hurt so much from that initial knockout punch, and moving her jaw sent new waves of pain through, yep probably broken for sure.\n\n“WHERE’S KATE!!”\n\n“Don’t know… i… She’s gone… took her…”\n\n“I know she’s gone.. wait. Someone else took her… Explain…”\n\n“I.. its…”\n\n“EXPLAIN!”\n\nMichelle cried out as she felt her arm twist to the point of pain, she squired and shuddered in the vice like grip, “Vesta… A A spirit was… h-helping me and…. S-said to … Help her get to Kate and…”\n\nIn-ka tossed Michelle limply to the ground. She was too weak right now to brace herself so just flopped in a heap, “I knew you were a bit dense when we met, but I didn’t think you’d be so dumb but to just BELIEVE a random voice in your head.”\n\n“I was… I thought she was helping me… learn. Get more .. powerful.”\n\n“It was probably a demon.” In-ka said, “What little it ‘taught’ you was probably amplified by its power, so you’d buy its story.”\n\n“Sorry…”\n\n“Save it” In-ka snapped, “Why’d it want Kate anyway?”\n\n“I.. don’t…”\n\n“DON’T SAY YOU DON’T KNOW!!”\n\n“I don’t think it really wanted Kate…” Michelle stammered out, “I… caused trouble for it… and its… scared of you.”\n\nIn-ka raised an eyebrow, “Of me? I don’t know this ‘Vesta’. Why’d it even think anything of me?”\n\n“I don’t know. I… she just said to make sure I.. get her to Kate and NOT to you…. With the summoned tentacle …”\n\nIn-ka paused for a long moment parsing that. Demon’s didn’t care about people. In order for this one to even know about her would mean they had to have met before but… that didn’t…. “Fuck” In-ka cursed, “I have someone to talk to.”\n\nMichelle watched In-ka start to leave, and something possessed her mouth to make words again despite her better judgement, “You’re…. not gunna kill me?”\nIn-ka paused, looking back at Michelle with a conflicted look on her face before walking back to where the beaten kitty was laying on the floor kneeling down to glare at her again, “I don’t do that. But now on your training is on the tightest possible leash”\n\nMichelle blinked in shock, “I.. you… not even expelling me?”\n\n“You’re still a witch. You can still be a serious problem if unchecked. My only options are to make DAMN sure you know to never let this happen again, or, as you said, just kill you.”\n\nMichelle couldn’t believe it. She was still going to get to learn magic. She was… ok she was likely going to be in a much worse curriculum now and might even have a literal leash around her neck but still. She was still going to get to be a witch! A slight pained smile crossed her lips, “T-thank you… Mistress.”\n“Save your thanks for after I get Kate back.” In-ka stood up, “Come to think of it. What ‘trouble’ did you cause for the demon that made her tell you to do what you did?”\n\nMichelle winced, but confessed, not much else she could do, she told In-ka about how she had imposed herself on Erin. How Erin had told Lucy, who tried to tell Rebecca, but that Vesta was in Rebecca at the time, all of it.\n\nMichelle watched In-ka’s face as she told the story, but In-ka looked more confused than anything, still angry, but more confused now. “This demon really didn’t want ME specifically to know about it, huh? I can’t imagine it would care about you dominating your friends otherwise. I doubt it would care about you getting the cops called on you, and definitely wouldn’t care about the obvious moral repugnancy of your actions.”\n\n“as if… you’re much better.”\n\nIn-ka snapped her neck around to glare again, “I’m sorry what…?”\n\n“As… As if…” It still hurt Michelle to talk, but some bit of anger was rallying her, “As if you’re much better. You… My ‘tuition’ to be taught by you and Kate was to be your damn BITCH if case you forgot.”\n\n“Oh? I seem to remember you trying to lure me into the woods for lascivious activities yourself. Don’t act like you aren’t into us.”\n\n“Ya. Maybe I did. Maybe I was going to try to make you one of my coven ‘wives’ before I knew you were real. But even though the spider was wrong about you being a fly, doesn’t mean it’s ok for you to do the same thing.” Michelle forced herself into a sitting position, wincing so hard she thought she might vomit, “Fuck.. I… I was willing. Of course I was. I’d submit to anyone to learn real magic if I had to, but you still… reveled in it too. You loved that I’d submit. You definitely used me for your gratification just like I did with Erin, don’t FUCKING deny that.”\n\nIn-ka was silent for a long moment. How true was that? Michelle was definitely the aggressor at first with her, but in the forest, especially after Kate got involved they did turn the tables. That seemed justified initially but after? Michelle always was eager to please, to… was it just what she felt she had to do? The fact that Michelle undeniably was actually attracted to In-ka muddied things for sure. This was a whole mess to unpack and not something she had time to focus on now. She turned to leave, as she stalked out the door she said, “I’m getting Kate back.”\n\nMichelle watched her go, that small win made her feel better, just a little, but still. Chapter 24: Everybody sucks here

Michelle wasn’t sure she had ever felt weaker than she felt right at this moment.  The whiplash of riding high on her newfound power to laying naked against the wall under the whiteboard while her teacher landed kick after kick into her guts.
