She and Ray followed Misty down, landing outside of town, extensively to avoid Ray scaring the locals, but also probably to help Misty maintain some modesty. Ray landed a bit farther away behind thicker trees.\n\nMisty crouched behind a bush and peered over, “Ok, now I’ll just get to my house and put on something and I’ll take you to my mistr…”\n\n“Well well you must have had fun.”\n\nMisty yelped and jumped into the air, spinning to face the voice and slapping her arms over her breasts. Her tail twisted as if she was trying to bring it around to cover her nethers, but a bat’s tail is very short so that didn’t work. “uh.. L-lady Adrianna, I… you see what happened. The cost was her control and we want your head witch to fix her. You can consider your apprentice’s relatively unruined body as our payment. Now where is your witch queen.”\n\nAdrianna’s eyes widened a bit, but she kept her cool, “A non-hostile dragon? Who willingly leaves his hoard? and calls a biped his mate? That’s multiple layers of almost as odd as someone merging with tentacles and not losing their mind. My mistress is this way. Misty, you can scoot off home and get dressed. I’ll lead them.”\n\nThe ‘queen of the forest’ lived in what at first looked like rather humble abodes. Rather it was a shack seemingly made of vines and branches half grown into a tree with an unusually large door that took up most of the entire wall. Seemed to be, anyway. When Adrianna opened the door Lapis’ mouth dropped open. The inside looked like an effervescent jungle of technicolor flowers and leaves twinkling in light from high over head. Adrianna led her through the door, Ray poking his head through behind them, and further notices that on this end the door was just a door, no walls even, just freestanding on its own.\n“A portal” Lapis breathed out when she managed to remember to breathe.\n\nAdrianna nodded, a somewhat smug grin on her face, “HEY MOM” She shouted into the trees.\n\n“Mom?” Lapis asked. Her answer came soon enough as a female sergal stepped out from the trees. She was a sight to behold. Barely looked a day over 20, but had a power about her. Her eyes literally glowed emerald-green, her sapphire blue fur shone, her large bosom rested gently on top of what was a very obviously pregnant belly.\n\nShe was also just as naked as Lapis.\n\n“Hello dear daughter” The woman said, “You brought more friends? A dragon too it seems.”\n\nRay was glancing about anywhere other than the female sergal in a way that Lapis had come to learn signified bashfulness in his race. This woman was clearly older to have a full adult daughter, but didn’t look it, and even with her engorged belly she looked amazing. Heck her tits were about the same size as Lapis’ own, and Lapis always prided herself as being the biggest girl in town.\nAdrianna introduced her mother as Forest Queen Katherine, introduced Lapis and Raesherion to her in turn and they explained the situation. Most animals, like that feral squirrel you ate, have all manner of feelings. Simpler thoughts than us, sure, but they still feel happy, sad, scared, etc, alongside the normal biological urges. Because of that you don’t get overloaded by a single-minded force. The monsters though. I don’t think they were created naturally, I don’t think evolution would make something so totally focused on one exact thing. Such a fragile existence.”\n\n“Fragile!” Lapis was surprised there, “They are brutally tough monstrosities that can shrug off numerous amputations.”\n\n“Not to mention they can apparently survive having their ribcage crushed flat and bones pulverized by a dragon foot” Ray added.\n\n“How is that ‘fragile’?” Lapis asked.\n\n“All one really has to do is avoid them, and the entire species stops reproducing, and eventually starves. Driving them extinct would be an easy as mapping out their lairs and avoiding them. Easier said than done of course, but they can’t reproduce with ferals, only sentient races.”\n\n“That makes no sense. What does having a mind matter for what they do. All they seem to need is what’s below the waist.”\n\n“Just another point in my theory that they aren’t natural, but created by magic. They spend huge amounts of natural resources feeding their captives, when in a sane world they’d just eat those resources themselves, but the milk cum and mana they extract from their prisoners seems to be their primary if not ONLY source of nutrition.”\n\n“How do you know all this?” Lapis asked.\n\nKate “I caught one once. Paid some young folks a FAT sack of gold to be ‘fed’ to it for a few weeks, before I cut them free and aborted the eggs that had been implanted in them.”\n\nLapis was stunned by that image, but she supposed at least they were paid to be…. Nevermind that wasn’t the point, “So uh... how do we free the one’s I found. Can you do it.”\n\nKate shook her head, “It’s a bit of a fight, even with the purely mindless ones, if this one can really resist magic, I would need to be at my magical and martial best.” She patted her belly, “Being 8 months in is NOT a good time to be engaging in combat. And we don’t have a month or two to wait for me to give birth and recover.”\n\n“Why can’t we wait. I mean I don’t want those people to suffer any longer than we have to, but …”\n\n“She’ll move them… She won’t be fast about it. They move slowly and leave trails, mostly just like to stay in one place, but if you invaded her home and escaped with one of its slaves then it knows that wherever it is isn’t safe. It will move by a week, and by a month following the trail will be hard.”\n\n“I have a good nose” Ray asserted.\n\n“I don’t doubt it. Still a month might be our limit. This village is pretty vegan, but luckily, I have a ready supply of milk.”\n\nLapis turned red. Chapter 27: Queen of the Forest

The trio circled around in the sky above the village.  Lapis could hardly believe there was a whole countryside nestled in the branches of a tree so large it could be a continent.  She and Ray followed Misty down, landing outside of town, extensively to avoid Ray scaring the locals, but also probably to help Misty maintain some modesty.  Ray landed a bit farther away behind thicker trees.
