Not metaphorically either, she was in her bedroom knocking her head against the wall. It was luckily sturdy enough but the little flecks of tears that shook loose from her face was dampening it.\n\nShe had just watched two people die, almost three. They had died horribly, and she had probably made it worse. The theory that the original person was still present in the demon possessed ‘zombies’ had turned out to be true, at least in cases where the head was intact. Knowing that she had made what she thought was the obvious decision to try everything they could to extricate the demon and save the person. Heck Nyx had even figured out that her gold weaponry could harm the demons directly, body or no, and as an aside Nyx could see the demons in spirit form now apparently.\n\nThey had strapped their captured ‘samples’ down and started surgically removing the cyberware. Nyx on hand to get stabby when the demons tried to abandon their hosts and flee. The doctors were ready, Nyx was ready, the patients were under control, Atasi was ready, or at least she thought.\n\nThe first one died screaming. The demon tried to abandon him the instant they started removing the cyberware it was possessing. Nyx had gotten it before it could run, but the act of disconnecting made the cyberware go crazy, bad signals overloaded his nervous system and he just started howling and howling. Eventually he had stopped screaming, perhaps due to damage to his vocal cords, and just twitched, eyes wide and darting around in a panic. Cause of death: Cardiac arrest.\n\nThe second faired better. They had pretargeted anything that even vaguely looked like a power source before starting this time, so when the demon left, it couldn’t keep sending signals. Just managed to safely shut it down long enough for Nyx to remove the demon. The demon was gone she was in control, but couldn’t move that much with the cyberware off. They were able to reactivate it, and the girl was walking around again, but without knowing how to stop another possession she would be sleeping in a cell for the foreseeable, future.\n\nAtasi knew she should be happy that any lived, and she was, but she couldn’t stop hearing the firsts screams or seeing the blood gurgle out from the second’s mouth. She wasn’t cut out for this. She wished again and again that she wasn’t the best expert they had on the cyberware. She wished anyone else could do this. She just wanted to run away sometimes. Eventually she sighed to her self and shook her head. Chapter 56: You’re Back

Atasi was knocking her head against the wall.  Not metaphorically either, she was in her bedroom knocking her head against the wall.  It was luckily sturdy enough but the little flecks of tears that shook loose from her face was dampening it.

She had just watched two people die, almost three.  They had died horribly, and she had probably made it worse.  The theory that the original person was still present in the demon possessed ‘zombies’ had turned out to be true, at least in cases where the head was intact.  Knowing that she had made what she thought was the obvious decision to try everything they could to extricate the demon and save the person.  Heck Nyx had even figured out that her gold weaponry could harm the demons directly, body or no, and as an aside Nyx could see the demons in spirit form now apparently.

They had strapped their captured ‘samples’ down and started surgically removing the cyberware.  Nyx on hand to get stabby when the demons tried to abandon their hosts and flee.  The doctors were ready, Nyx was ready, the patients were under control, Atasi was ready, or at least she thought.

The first one died screaming.  The demon tried to abandon him the instant they started removing the cyberware it was possessing.  Nyx had gotten it before it could run, but the act of disconnecting made the cyberware go crazy, bad signals overloaded his nervous system and he just started howling and howling.  Eventually he had stopped screaming, perhaps due to damage to his vocal cords, and just twitched, eyes wide and darting around in a panic.  Cause of death: Cardiac arrest.

“You’re back, you’re back” Atasi said sobbing.

“I am”

“I thought you were dead”

“Got close”

“Where have you been”
