Kate found it a little odd that she was being as protective as she was over Atasi specifically. She helped to protect the whole city and all its people of course so being protective in general made sense, but it was rather sudden that she, after all this time, had actually made a friend.\n\nIt was a time for new things across the board it seemed. Learning to speak and hanging out with mortals was only one of the events without precedent. There was also whoever it was that stole some of her feather, and of course the demon invasion.\n\nNow that Atasi had some means of defending herself, the demons were the priority. Kate was flying up and down Valborg City feeling out what it could feel and see and hear. Pulses of not-quite-thought from the semi-living construct of concrete and steel pulsed up and down its power lines and vibrated though its pavement. It whispered of new construction sites where it felt numb, old decaying buildings that itched to be torn down and the occasional disregarded maintenance tunnel what was starting to be a den of rats.\nMany didn’t need direct intervention from her, but she still cleared out an issue here or there. Glitchy signal line heated up till the solder at its tips refused, maintenance shack scraped off its rodential denizens. Each little spruce up to her city made remaining issues it felt clearer and easier to understand.\n\nAn uptown neighborhood was complaining of being sluggish. Things just not quite getting done as fast as they used to. Trash building up, commerce not as bustling. It was hard to feel out any specifics other than a general apprehension that had settled over the place. Luckily if the city wasn’t feeling enough of an acute issue to guide her hand she had some other ways to investigate.\n\nThe formerly nameless watcher soon found herself in an electronics store staring at the televisions. The desk clerk was a bit perplexed to see the door open and close with no one actually entering, but he’s likely brush it off as wind, and while he was checking the front, Kate would change the channel on some of the TV’s in the back.\n\nElectronics stores always had TVs up and often running to show them off. They could also provide information, in their case by setting 4 of them to different news stations, local or otherwise, and at the minimum volume to avoid attention. After some minutes of glancing back and forth between the largely replaceable anchors a pattern did start to emerge. The people here were on edge as much as the district itself was, and the cause seemed to be a greater than normal number of missing person’s reports, as well as a rash of late-night break ins at tech distributors. If it weren’t for the whole demon situation, she would have written it off as not her business, but the demons did want to possess bodies, or more accurately want to possess computers wired to bodies that had been relieved of their original inhabitants.\n\nThe next stop would be to a local library. She knew where it was of course, she knew where most everything was in this city, and it was just a short walk away. She strolled out the front door leaving the clerk even more confused and walked with renewed purpose towards the library. Looking up where the various robberies had taken place, along with where the missing persons were last seen would take a computer and likely her whole evening, but there was little else to do if she wanted to find a more likely place to search.\n\nLuckily her search concluded itself rather quickly, and her evening rapidly promised to become significantly less boring the moment that her stomach exploded in a piercing point of white-hot agony, causing her to double over, her lips pulling back as she growled in an attempt to not scream.\n\nGotcha\n\nThe watcher had barely had the chance to look down at the small metal rod in her gut before she started being pulled by it, stumbling into an alleyway she had just walked past. They had freaking harpooned her and were now reeling her in it seemed. The stomach rod was attached to a filament cord of some sort or other and on the other end it was gripped by lab coat wearing former scientist who looked altogether too happy for the amount of skull he had left.\n\n“Fuck off” She snarled, speaking to a demon out loud for the first time she could remember. Her sword reformed itself in a second and lanced the cord she was caught by easily. Then she charged.\n\nIt hurt to run yes. Hard to avoid that with a piece of metal in your stomach, but she knew she was sturdy, and this was far from the usual dispossessed spirits she sometimes had to deal with in her city. The ones she would talk to and sometimes actually convince to move on peacefully. No, this thing was going down hard, so no need for niceties as she close the distance in a moment and pulled her sword through a massive uppercut.\n\nStill fast\n\nThe demon hadn’t expected her to still move like she did, clearly expecting her to be slowed like a mortal would have been. It tried to throw itself back, but her sword connected with its guts anyway and clicked upward, navel to neck the thing that was a man was bisected. Blood and wires flew as it fell. The watcher soon followed suit when a heavy weight landed on her back. A heavy weight with claws that sank into her back and clicked against her shoulder blades.\n\nThis flesh is nice\n\nThe new thing almost cooed into her mind as she fell. This time she did scream, at least until she hit the ground and the wind knocked out of her.\n\nCan we possess you?\n\nIts question wasn’t one that Kate intended to answer, indeed wasn’t a questions she ever wanted to think about again. Her sword switched forms rapidly. In a second where she had been holding a bastard sword she was now holding a downward facing spear. She swung back impaling her new attacker and forcing it off of her.\n\nShe slammed her wings into the ground, using them to lift her up without having to let go of the weapon. This time she wouldn’t get jumped again. She wrenched the spear free and swung up just as a third assailant had leaped from the building tops above. This one’s eyes went wide as its weight carried it face first into her spear, ripping its brains apart and showering her with gore and sparks.\n\n‘At least that one didn’t talk’ she thought to herself, driving her spear back into her second attacker to make sure it was finished before she left and half ran, half flapped her way straight up the walls of the alley and into the air above. There as one more on the run, it seemed a good deal larger than the others but it seemed to have decided that a fight wasn’t going to work. She swooped down out of the sky fast as it tried to make for a door. She reformed her sword and brought it down hard on the monstrosity, splitting its jacket wide but clanging hard against a shockingly hard steel panel underneath it. Her sword left a gouge but didn’t cleave deeper. The force knocked her prey stumbling though. Stumbling and body slamming itself through its target door and into the darkness beyond.\n\n“Fuck” Kate muttered, trying to ignore the pain in her stomach and her back. She couldn’t let this thing leave, but inside its den…\n\nKate took a breath and slowly began to follow it in.\n\nLanguage young lady\n\nKate snarled as the demonic pseudo voice echoed through her head.\n\nOr should I say “old hag”\n\n“Keep it up, you’ll be dead soon enough.” Kate’s voice was the only sound in this place other than a gentle whirr of a furnace diligently keeping the temperature comfortable. She followed the interior steps down from the roof to the top floor. The first thing she noticed as the annoying flickering lights. Lights she wondered if the demons had intentionally rigged for the appearance that flickering lights brought. The second thing she noticed was that the dark colored carpet was sticky under her feet.\n\nThe one you killed used to talk about taking your body for her own\n\n“I heard” Kate muttered, “I take it you disagree?”\n\nOh, I like my own body too much to switch, but I’d love to ‘have’ you anyway.\n\n“Charming” Kate deadpanned, “Bet the ladies love you.”\n\nThey don’t have much choice\n\nFor a moment it felt like the walls were closing in on the watcher. It took her a millisecond too long to realize why as the demon had body slammed a full section of wall down from the other side and drove it into her like a ram. Kate managed to get an arm up to blunt the impact but was still driven to the opposite wall and pinned. Through the crumbling section of wall, she saw the creature she had failed to cut. It was definitely more than just one person sewn together and when it wasn’t intentionally hunching over it was a lot bigger than it seemed before. Its primary head looked like a wolf, but it was hard to tell. There was a lizard head on one side and some sort of can on another, and a few arms sticking out other than the over muscled main set.\n\nSo how about it? Be my rape pet and I promise not to kill you.\n\n“You need to work on your negotiation skills” Kate said glaring at the repugnant beast before showing a piece of her own strength and shoving him back just enough for her bastard sword to become a gladius.\n\nI’ve gotten ‘yes’s\n\nher sword was now short enough to redirect the point in the limited space she had, and as the demon slammed his wall piece back into her it penetrated easily and may have stuck into him even as is. The sword shifting into a rapier on penetration just added to its length, so it definitely was long enough to gore the demon good and deep.\n\nThe thing grunted and retreated back into the next room, giving the watcher a chance to toss the wall chunk aside and shake of the growing feeling of disorientation. Whether from the blood loss or the pain she couldn’t tell, but it was time to end this thing before it got to do anything else with its worthless unlife.\n\nThe demon hadn’t gone far. And the table it threw as she walked through the door was easy enough to deflect. It was gripping the new hole in its stomach but was seemingly more affected by it than Kate herself had been by her own injury. That wouldn’t be too surprising. Demon or not the body it was wearing, or bodies as it were, was still a mortal shell and ‘technically’ living. Blood loss would affect him harder than it would affect her.\n\nNot that she was immune though and her injuries were making focus harder, things had started to double. She deflected an armored fist just in time, but missed the second. All Kate could think as her tortured gut took the blow dead on was ‘guess that one wasn’t a double’\n\nSomeone have too much to drink?\n\nKate wondered why another blow didn’t land. She glanced up at the thing. The limp reptilian head growing out of the neck of the main wolf visage smirked at her while the main one coughed up a splatter of blood, adding it to the sticky mess that was the carpets in this place. Coughing up blood meant that she had gotten a lung, definitely a lucky blow there, if she could get her damn legs to work as ordered. They kicked but didn’t seem to have the coordination to stand.\n\nThe demon grinned after wiping his mouth and started for her. All she could do was stagger to a rough kneeling position and turn her sword into a halberd to defend herself. To her relief the demon backed up again.\n\nStill mobile? most aren’t\n\n“Drugged … dart” The watcher finally said as she realized it, and glanced down at the harpoon end in her gut.\n\nAnd the claws.\n\nThe demon coughed up some more blood.\n\nLove to keep playing, but down a lung I don’t need to risk.\n\n“Coward” Kate gasped.\n\nWinner\n\nThe second head started to laugh as the demon brought an armored arm down on the whirring heater, rending the appliance and ripping it form the wall. Kate wasn’t sure what he was on about till one of the smaller arms produced a lighter. There was very little she could do as the creature lit and threw the lighter at the wrecked heater and took off. In a second the room was covered in fire.\n\nKate grunted and turned her sword into claws intending to crawl her way out of there if she had too when a whimper caught her attention. She had managed to rise form a sitting position to her hands and knees and looked around. Luckily the fire was mostly bursting upwards, and down low was fine, for now.\n\nThe source of the whimper it turned out was a girl. She looked like an otter, but Kate couldn’t honestly focus enough to be sure right now. She wore what looked like it was at one point a t-shirt but could hardly be considered clothing at this point. It had the arms and the collar, but nothing else. Everything below her neckline had been torn from her. All she had besides that was a pair of socks and a single shoe. She was squirming and weakly struggling against what looked like leather wrist bindings that had her restrained to a radiator.\n\n“Dammit” The watcher said, trying not to think too much about what the demon had said earlier as she crawled her way to the girl. Thankfully she was pretty resistant to whatever drug she had been pumped with it seemed. Getting to the girl she turned her sword to a knife and started on the leather bindings. Up close they looked distressingly like flayed skin, still had some fur attached, but that wasn’t’ important right now.\n\n“Listen to me” Kate gasped, “I know you probably can’t see me but I…” She started to cough and caught herself, “I am here... I... I’m getting you free, but you have to move on your own. I …” Another coughing fit caused her to almost drop the knife, “I can’t carry you.”\n\nThe girl started to scramble away as soon she was free, and the watcher followed. The fire was worsening, and they could barely see as they made slow progress down the way too long hallways. It was so hot and the smoke stung her eyes. She could feel the blood pouring from her back and commanded her sword to cover the gouges. she didn’t’ have that luxury before, but it may be too late. \n\nDammit, what would Atasi think if she didn’t come back? What would actually happen if she died? Heaven? Nothing? Oh god. Atasi there’s no one else. You have to figure something out without me!\n\nShe wobbled and lurched forward, her head spinning around and around, and even the brightening flames going dark.\n\nPosted using PostyBirb",

Her sword switched forms rapidly.&nbsp;&nbsp; In a second where she had been holding a bastard sword she was now holding a downward facing spear.&nbsp;&nbsp; She swung back impaling her new attacker and forcing it off of her.<br /><br />She slammed her wings into the ground, using them to lift her up without having to let go of the weapon.&nbsp;&nbsp; This time she wouldn&rsquo;t get jumped again.&nbsp;&nbsp; She wrenched the spear free and swung up just as a third assailant had leaped from the building tops above.&nbsp;&nbsp; This one&rsquo;s eyes went wide as its weight carried it face first into her spear, ripping its brains apart and showering her with gore and sparks.<br /><br />&lsquo;At least that one didn&rsquo;t talk&rsquo; she thought to herself, driving her spear back into her second attacker to make sure it was finished before she left and half ran, half flapped her way straight up the walls of the alley and into the air above.&nbsp;&nbsp; There as one more on the run, it seemed a good deal larger than the others but it seemed to have decided that a fight wasn&rsquo;t going to work.&nbsp;&nbsp; She swooped down out of the sky fast as it tried to make for a door.&nbsp;&nbsp; She reformed her sword and brought it down hard on the monstrosity, splitting its jacket wide but clanging hard against a shockingly hard steel panel underneath it.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her sword left a gouge but didn&rsquo;t cleave deeper.&nbsp;&nbsp; The force knocked her prey stumbling though.&nbsp;&nbsp;Stumbling and body slamming itself through its target door and into the darkness beyond.<br /><br />&ldquo;Fuck&rdquo; Kate muttered, trying to ignore the pain in her stomach and her back.&nbsp;&nbsp; She couldn&rsquo;t let this thing leave, but inside its den&hellip;<br /><br />Kate took a breath and slowly began to follow it in.<br /><br /><strong>Language young lady</strong><br /><br />Kate snarled as the demonic pseudo voice echoed through her head.<br /><br /><strong>Or should I say &ldquo;old hag&rdquo;</strong><br /><br />&ldquo;Keep it up, you&rsquo;ll be dead soon enough.&rdquo; Kate&rsquo;s voice was the only sound in this place other than a gentle whirr of a furnace diligently keeping the temperature comfortable.&nbsp;&nbsp; She followed the interior steps down from the roof to the top floor.&nbsp;&nbsp; The first thing she noticed as the annoying flickering lights.&nbsp;&nbsp;Lights she wondered if the demons had intentionally rigged for the appearance that flickering lights brought.&nbsp;&nbsp; The second thing she noticed was that the dark colored carpet was sticky under her feet.<br /><br /><strong>The one you killed used to talk about taking your body for her own</strong><br /><br />&ldquo;I heard&rdquo; Kate muttered, &ldquo;I take it you disagree?&rdquo;<br /><br /><strong>Oh, I like my own body too much to switch, but I&rsquo;d love to &lsquo;have&rsquo; you anyway.</strong><br /><br />&ldquo;Charming&rdquo; Kate deadpanned, &ldquo;Bet the ladies love you.&rdquo;<br /><br /><strong>They don&rsquo;t have much choice</strong><br /><br />For a moment it felt like the walls were closing in on the watcher.&nbsp;&nbsp; It took her a millisecond too long to realize why as the demon had body slammed a full section of wall down from the other side and drove it into her like a ram.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kate managed to get an arm up to blunt the impact but was still driven to the opposite wall and pinned.&nbsp;&nbsp;Through the crumbling section of wall, she saw the creature she had failed to cut.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was definitely more than just one person sewn together and when it wasn&rsquo;t intentionally hunching over it was a lot bigger than it seemed before.&nbsp;&nbsp; Its primary head looked like a wolf, but it was hard to tell.&nbsp;&nbsp; There was a lizard head on one side and some sort of can on another, and a few arms sticking out other than the over muscled main set.<br /><br /><strong>So how about it? Be my rape pet and I promise not to kill you.</strong><br /><br />&ldquo;You need to work on your negotiation skills&rdquo; Kate said glaring at the repugnant beast before showing a piece of her own strength and shoving him back just enough for her bastard sword to become a gladius.<br /><br /><strong>I&rsquo;ve gotten &lsquo;yes&rsquo;s</strong><br /><br />her sword was now short enough to redirect the point in the limited space she had, and as the demon slammed his wall piece back into her it penetrated easily and may have stuck into him even as is.&nbsp;&nbsp; The sword shifting into a rapier on penetration just added to its length, so it definitely was long enough to gore the demon good and deep.<br /><br />The thing grunted and retreated back into the next room, giving the watcher a chance to toss the wall chunk aside and shake of the growing feeling of disorientation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Whether from the blood loss or the pain she couldn&rsquo;t tell, but it was time to end this thing before it got to do anything else with its worthless unlife.<br /><br />The demon hadn&rsquo;t gone far.&nbsp;&nbsp; And the table it threw as she walked through the door was easy enough to deflect.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was gripping the new hole in its stomach but was seemingly more affected by it than Kate herself had been by her own injury.&nbsp;&nbsp; That wouldn&rsquo;t be too surprising.&nbsp;&nbsp;Demon or not the body it was wearing, or bodies as it were, was still a mortal shell and &lsquo;technically&rsquo; living.&nbsp;&nbsp;Blood loss would affect him harder than it would affect her.<br /><br />Not that she was immune though and her injuries were making focus harder, things had started to double.&nbsp;&nbsp; She deflected an armored fist just in time, but missed the second.&nbsp;&nbsp; All Kate could think as her tortured gut took the blow dead on was &lsquo;guess that one wasn&rsquo;t a double&rsquo;<br /><br /><strong>Someone have too much to drink?</strong><br /><br />Kate wondered why another blow didn&rsquo;t land.&nbsp;&nbsp; She glanced up at the thing.&nbsp;&nbsp; The limp reptilian head growing out of the neck of the main wolf visage smirked at her while the main one coughed up a splatter of blood, adding it to the sticky mess that was the carpets in this place.&nbsp;&nbsp;Coughing up blood meant that she had gotten a lung, definitely a lucky blow there, if she could get her damn legs to work as ordered.&nbsp;&nbsp; They kicked but didn&rsquo;t seem to have the coordination to stand.<br /><br />The demon grinned after wiping his mouth and started for her.&nbsp;&nbsp; All she could do was stagger to a rough kneeling position and turn her sword into a halberd to defend herself.&nbsp;&nbsp; To her relief the demon backed up again.<br /><br /><strong>Still mobile? most aren&rsquo;t</strong><br /><br />&ldquo;Drugged &hellip; dart&rdquo; The watcher finally said as she realized it, and glanced down at the harpoon end in her gut.<br /><br /><strong>And the claws.</strong><br /><br />The demon coughed up some more blood.<br /><br /><strong>Love to keep playing, but down a lung I don&rsquo;t need to risk.</strong><br /><br />&ldquo;Coward&rdquo; Kate gasped.<br /><br /><strong>Winner</strong><br /><br />The second head started to laugh as the demon brought an armored arm down on the whirring heater, rending the appliance and ripping it form the wall.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kate wasn&rsquo;t sure what he was on about till one of the smaller arms produced a lighter.&nbsp;&nbsp; There was very little she could do as the creature lit and threw the lighter at the wrecked heater and took off.&nbsp;&nbsp; In a second the room was covered in fire.<br /><br />Kate grunted and turned her sword into claws intending to crawl her way out of there if she had too when a whimper caught her attention.&nbsp;&nbsp; She had managed to rise form a sitting position to her hands and knees and looked around.&nbsp;&nbsp;Luckily the fire was mostly bursting upwards, and down low was fine, for now.<br /><br />The source of the whimper it turned out was a girl.&nbsp;&nbsp; She looked like an otter, but Kate couldn&rsquo;t honestly focus enough to be sure right now.&nbsp;&nbsp; She wore what looked like it was at one point a t-shirt but could hardly be considered clothing at this point.&nbsp;&nbsp; It had the arms and the collar, but nothing else.&nbsp;&nbsp;Everything below her neckline had been torn from her.&nbsp;&nbsp; All she had besides that was a pair of socks and a single shoe.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was squirming and weakly struggling against what looked like leather wrist bindings that had her restrained to a radiator.<br /><br />&ldquo;Dammit&rdquo; The watcher said, trying not to think too much about what the demon had said earlier as she crawled her way to the girl.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thankfully she was pretty resistant to whatever drug she had been pumped with it seemed.&nbsp;&nbsp;Getting to the girl she turned her sword to a knife and started on the leather bindings.&nbsp;&nbsp;Up close they looked distressingly like flayed skin, still had some fur attached, but that wasn&rsquo;t&rsquo; important right now.<br /><br />&ldquo;Listen to me&rdquo; Kate gasped, &ldquo;I know you probably can&rsquo;t see me but I&hellip;&rdquo; She started to cough and caught herself, &ldquo;I am here... I... I&rsquo;m getting you free, but you have to move on your own.&nbsp;&nbsp;I &hellip;&rdquo; Another coughing fit caused her to almost drop the knife, &ldquo;I can&rsquo;t carry you.&rdquo;<br /><br />The girl started to scramble away as soon she was free, and the watcher followed.&nbsp;&nbsp; The fire was worsening, and they could barely see as they made slow progress down the way too long hallways.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was so hot and the smoke stung her eyes.&nbsp;&nbsp; She could feel the blood pouring from her back and commanded her sword to cover the gouges.&nbsp;&nbsp;she didn&rsquo;t&rsquo; have that luxury before, but it may be too late. <br /><br />Dammit, what would Atasi think if she didn&rsquo;t come back?&nbsp;&nbsp; What would actually happen if she died? Heaven? Nothing? Oh god. Atasi there&rsquo;s no one else. You have to figure something out without me!<br /><br />She wobbled and lurched forward, her head spinning around and around, and even the brightening flames going dark.<br /><br /><a href=\"http://www.postybirb.com\" rel=\"nofollow\">Posted using PostyBirb</a></span>",
