“Come on Maskelyne, I know you want this too.” The dark gray and white rabbit looked up at the figure crouched in front of her with pleading eyes, trying to draw him in as if she were a kitten rather than a grown adult.
“We’ve talked about this, Noel. I like you or I wouldn’t have hired you, but mixing business with pleasure is never a good idea. We have a good thing going, and I’d hate to ruin that.” The white lion looked at the rabbit sternly, it wasn’t the first time she had made advances on him and probably wouldn’t be the last. Maskelyne was flattered, but at the same time confused by her. He’d been very clear when he agreed to hire her that they wouldn’t be getting into a relationship, and besides, a rabbit and lion mating wasn’t exactly conventional.
The pleading eyes turned steely, and the bunny thumped her foot. “I didn’t see your concern for mixing business with pleasure when you were Banging. That. Lioness. Before. The. Show.” Each of her ending words were accented by a single thump.
“Noel, that was different, and you know it. Theluji and I have been seeing each other off and on for a long time, it’s not like she’s a part of the team; she just wanted to wish me ‘good luck’ before the show.” Maskelyne chuckled, “You know, though, I have to admit, you get pretty cute when you're angry.” An amused grin formed across his muzzle as he remembered her frustration at him that day.
“And the fossa? You can’t tell me that threesome wasn’t mixing business with pleasure, he’s your fucking stage hand.”
The grin faltered, and blushing, Maskelyne looked away, “Oh, you saw that… I mean, I admit things got a little out of hand, but…”
“But what? For a magician, you weren’t exactly keeping a secret that day; anyone walking by the theater heard your ruckus.”
“Well, yes he’s a stage hand, but he’s employed by the theater, so . . . He doesn’t really work for me.”
Noel tossed her paws in the air, “You’re impossible! The double standard is completely ridiculous. That’s it, I want a straight answer from you; why haven't you already tossed me on my back and stuffed your cock inside me again and again? You could have had me just about any time you wanted.”
“Look, I… How do I say this… I don’t want to hurt you. Hey! Don’t scoff. I do care for you, and we make a great team, I would hate to jeopardize that. Besides…”
Maskelyne took a deep breath, then looked away from the scowling rabbit in front of him. His tail lashed behind him, betraying the tremble in his otherwise calm disposition.
“I know you think you know me, and to some extent, you do, but there are things you don’t know. Things you can’t know. Things that scare me.”
