Though like a muscle, if it's not used it atrophies and doesn't improve beyond its innate ability to keep said being alive... likewise, if said being is adept and dedicated to using magic, their capacities grow along with their efforts, specially so if they train since a young age.\n\nSo what does it say about magically-gifted creatures like dragons and alicorns? All which not only possess innate magical capacity above the highest averages, but also, when not actively using it, they find themselves constantly generating and using said magic to sustain their immortal-like bodies.\n\nThis thought sparked an interest in the little alicorn princess' head: \"If using magic while young increases your magic growth, why hasn't anyone tried becoming young to boost their abilities? There's no lack of known creatures capable of high-class regression magic, yet there's no information of any ever doing said training... it can't be just a lack of interest.\"\n\nShe looked through so many books and dated scrolls, but all she could find were tiny variations of the same age spells she's already well familiar with, them being her personal -addiction- hobby.\n\n\"The lack of information might be the answer itself.\" She thought. \"There's no records of anyone regressing to improve their magic, because it doesn't work with the existing spells.\"\n\nIt didn’t occur to the princess that maybe, those who succeeded were incapable of reporting their findings.\n\n…\n\nThe princess, now naked in her bedroom save for a diaper around her waist, paced in an unquiet manner left and right without destiny as she occasionally tested different age regression spells to turn herself from and back to a 1 year old baby foal, proving the need for a diaper. \n\nA bit extreme, but extremes yield results.\n\n\"Low-class regression magic is merely a shortcut to doing the same thing you would with illusion magic but with less steps. So full in fact, she made sure to wear diapers intended for a large dragon hatchling, and she had cast a soundproof barrier ON TOP of a time bubble in her room to prevent disruptions in her fun experimentation. No one would understand her goals.\n\n\"Medium-class regression apparently creates a pseudo-body made of solid magic to link your consciousness/soul to, while keeping the original body in stasis in a pocket dimension. Magic growth means soul growth, but the soul can't grow while its real organic body is in stasis\". She closes her eyes and sees her own pseudo baby body from outside it, noticing how cute she is but also how the magic around her pseudo body flows. \"At least this body doesn't need proper care like a real infant\".\n\nThe soundproof barrier probably isn't necessary but it's really cheap in magic resources, unlike the time bubble that drinks her magic like crazy. But thanks to her species and dedicated magic usage since she was born 20 or so years ago, it's pretty manageable to keep her room out of sync from the world outside, it being slowed down.\n\n\"High-class regression magic obviously is the most prominent in making you de facto chronologically younger. It would be the perfect candidate for magic training if it did not also regress your magic development too\". She goes back to her real body, stores a good chunk of magic on a crystal to maintain the bubble, and on another crystal to turn her back into an adult later, and then proceeds to regress herself with said high-class regression magic down to, once again, a baby foal. But this time, the regression is slow and gradual.\n\nShe totally did not grow her magic capacity solely by spending most of those 20 or so years purely learning and testing age related spells.\n\n\"This one is certainly the most weird in feeling, having my hair and teeth grow backwards while my bones compress into one another.. it would be unsettling if it wasn't oddly pleasing going through reverse puberty.\" She said while lisping, now reaching the body she had at 3 years old. \"It's most curious though, this spell isn't written to convert matter into energy, so what happens with all the compression of my body? And this spell regresses my magic ability and my brain, but I still retain my adult mind?\"\n\nIt's pretty comical and cute, seeing a little baby, almost newborn, lying on their back on a diaper 10x their size, with their hand to their chin while they deeply ponder about stuff, not even realizing they're drooling as they babble.\n\nAs for her doubts, she hadn't had many opportunities to test out this spell. She barely remembers last time because she was a kid regressed by her mother for a little fun weekend, not much knowledge at that age... and the crystal was hard to come by without anyone knowing, the spell for self-casting requires it as a backup battery so the caster, with shrunk magic capacity, can still get their age back, or some of it.\n\nThe princess spent a good 30 minutes having fun being a lazy napping newborn, but she decided it was enough and was about to trigger the crystal to turn back, but she felt a sudden need to go, and in less than an instant she began to simultaneously wet and mess her huge diaper. She expected has much given her current age, but certainly did not think this 'emptying' process would last more than 5 minutes without stop. \n\n\"So that's what happens to the extra body mass...\", She had the crystal ready, but she couldn't focus on triggering the age reversal until her body was done.\n\nShe still somehow retained enough senses to feel pleased by relieving, which clouded her mind. She could try to grow up while doing so, but she hasn't yet naturalized this high-class spell to cast it with ease. Casting a complex set of instructions without a clear mind could have unintended effects.\n\nAt the 15 minute mark, she was finally done filling her diaper, apparently while the spell regresses all of your magic capacity, it doesn't decrease the amount of magic already stored in you before regressing, forcing the excess energy to become more matter to then get naturally emptied by the body as to prevent overloading oneself. Good thing she went for dragon diapers, while this one hadn't reached even 10% of its capacity, a normal diaper would certainly not handle this load. \n\n\"Yuck, f-finally...\", her face was red, her breathing heavy, and she was slightly sweating, but now she was able to trigger the crystal and grow back.\n\nShe slowly went from 1 to 5, then 8 to 15. Her body mass that was lost in her diaper is being replenished directly from a magic to matter conversion.. In the meantime, she decided to try and try multi-cast her diaper cleaning magic while growing, pondering if using magic while de-regressing would give any desired boost. Unfortunately, once she was back at her adult age, she was the exact same in body and magic, except hungry, and with a droopy, mushy diaper.\n\nShe decided it was good enough testing for today, and went to sleep for two time-stopped nights.\n\n...\n\nGood dreams were had, lots of magic, regression and diapers. In medium-class regression magic, the soul can't grow while the body is in stasis, but if the body is instead in a time bubble of its own, with flowing time, it can grow and regress without affecting the chronological development of my soul!\". \n\nShe double and triple checked her newly written mix-match of spells with a grin on her face, making sure she didn't mess up anything. \n\n\"Once I take away the regressed body from the bubble, my soul will seamlessly go back as usual and I can age myself back up without a crystal! It might even give me the boost I wanted, there's no mistake!\"\n\nShe ran around her room in circles, giggling with a sparkling childish glee, so eager to test it out! The princess charged up the crystals just in case, tightened her diaper, prepared some cute baby food and clothes she would wear in the following time-stopped weeks, and started casting the new spell~\n\nHer body switched for a magic copy, visually imperceptible. Her soul, still linked to her original, is now attached to the new body. That was the first phase.\n\nA time bubble was cast in the pocket dimension the body was in, allowing its time to flow backwards with the high-level regression spell she used earlier. Second phase done.\n\nShe felt as her real body changed and morphed into its newer stage, and her \"magic age\" remained the same.
