L: It's Charmander's birthday today, and he and his friend Squirtle are currently setting up something pretty special that Charmander had gotten: A VR system!

Charmander: "Can't wait to finally try this out, I've been hearing it's pretty great!"

N: Squirtle: Yeah, I heard this one is very special 

L: Once it's ready, Charmander hands Squirtle one of the headsets before grabbing a second for himself. "Alright, ready to see what it can do?"

N: *As soon they put them on, they magically teleported in a video game world*

Squirtle: Whoa, it feels so real

L: Charmander: "W-wow, I didn't think it'd be instant!" He looks around the environment he and Squirtle have started in. "Man, yeah, it's hard to tell it's not real..."

N: *They get a good feel of the world*

Squirtle: It feel so real

L: Charmander: "I'm kind of still in awe at that too, yeah... Maybe we should try actually doing something? I bet there's all sorts of stuff around we wouldn't find in real life."

N: Squirtle: Yeah, this should be quite fun. We could do something we always wanted to do

L: Charmander: "Um... Oh, I've always wanted to swim, but I couldn't because of the fire on my tail! It should be safe for me to swim here, let's go find water!"

N: Squirtle: You always dream to swim every since we meet, we can make your dream come true

L: Charmander: "Yeah, I can finally do it! And I watched videos on how to swim just in case this ever happened, so I'm all set!"

N: *They explore til they eventually reach the water level*

Squirtle: We made it here

L: Charmander: "Perfect! It's finally time!" He gets into the water, and after a moment where he looks a bit nervous, he lowers his tail into the water... The fire on it somehow stays lit underwater! "Awesome, it works!"

N: *Squirtle gets into the water*

Squirtle: Look at you swimming in the water, you learn so fast

L: Charmander: "Yeah, this is easier than I thought it'd be!" He swims around on the surface, already having a great time.

N: Squirtle: How do you feel about being underwater, we might have to do some underwater section 

L: Charmander: "I say bring it on, I wanted to try out swimming underwater anyway!"

N: Squirtle: I like your motivation, let’s do some underwater swimming action

L: Charmander: "Alright, let's go!" He takes a deep breath and dives under.

N: *Squirtle dives underwater as their breath meter appears*

L: Charmander looks over at his breath meter in a bit of confusion, not really having expected something like that. But, ignoring it after that, he begins swimming through the underwater part, still enjoying himself.

N: *They swim through the underwater section as they are blowing bubbles and having a good time*

L: Paying no mind to how long he can hold his breath right now, Charmander looks around at the underwater environment, swimming pretty well despite this being his first dive.

N: *They keep swimming as they loving their time under the water*

L: Over time, the breath meters of the two Pokemon slowly drain, and it seems this area is going to not have any air for a fairly long time.

N: *But they don’t seem to be worry as they keep swimming as the fishes swim with them which brings them inner peace*

L: Charmander smiles at the nearby fish, reaching out to pet one a little.

N: *As their air meter reach halfway drain they start to feel the strain*

L: Charmander's enjoyment of the dive is starting to fade some as his need to breathe increases, and he's gradually wanting to hurry along to the end of this part.

N: *They keep swimming as the meter drains more and more*

L: Eventually, the need to breathe has gotten to the point that Charmander isn't enjoying himself any more, getting a nervous look as he tries to speed up.

N: *As their breath meter reach about quarter left they can see the surface at the distance*

L: Charmander covers his mouth while he continues to swim, losing bubbles regardless and beginning to get a purple blush.

N: *Their air meter nearly drains as the urge to breath is getting closer*

L: Charmander whines, struggling to keep holding his breath as he doesn't want to find out what it's like to drown.

N: *Their air meter completely drains as they start inhaling water, they start losing health but the pain they feel is surprisingly at minimum*

L: While he's surprised at how little it hurts, Charmander still does his best to keep swimming while repeatedly gasping water, his face beginning to tint blue.

N: *As they almost reach the surface they cough out a big bubble before they resurfaced soon after*

Squirtle: *Gasp* You... doing okay... there?

L: Charmander coughs up water as he catches his breath, and nods. "W-wasn't as bad... A-as I thought it'd be..."

N: Squirtle: That’s a relief... seems the drowning thing isn’t so bad

L: Charmander: "Yeah, I get the feeling that wasn't as bad as it would actually feel in real life."

N: Squirtle: Yeah, that will be a different story. But here it’s not so bad

L: Charmander: "Other than the pain, I really liked being down there! I hope we can find some kind of powerup that lets us breathe underwater so we can stay there longer."

N: Squirtle: That will be fun

*They soon reach the desert level*

Squirtle: We got a desert level next it seems

L: Charmander: "Alright, this might not be too bad. It's nice and warm here, too!"

N: Squirtle: And the sand here is nice and soft, it makes me want to roll around in it. I think we will have have fun with this one

L: Charmander: "Well, let's go see what this place has got for us!" He starts making his way through the level.

N: *As they explore the level they suddenly feel something much softer*

Squirtle: Sand is getting more softer here

L: Charmander: "Hm... It's probably nothing to worry about, I guess it just happens to be different now."

N: *They move a little farther as their movement begins to slow down, they soon noticed that they are sinking*

Squirtle: Oh, this must be quicksand

L: Charmander: "Oh jeez, that's not good... Maybe we should just go back, this might not be the right way..."

N: *They both doesn’t make any movement*

Squirtle: Why are we both not making any movement... hmm, are we like... being curious

L: Charmander: "...Honestly, since we're not in real danger and drowning doesn't hurt much here... I kind of want to see what it's like to sink in quicksand."

N: Squirtle: Hmm, this soft sinking sand is quite welcoming actually. It will feel nice on my shell

*They sink to their waist*

L: Charmander: "It's kind of funny, I'd never even consider doing this for real... But hey, no better way to do this than in VR, right?"

N: Squirtle: Yeah, it’s quite the experience for us, this is fun

L: Charmander: "Hopefully it stays this fun once we go under, but I'm sure it will."

N: Squirtle: I do want to sink under the quicksand, it’s so comfy here

*They sink to their belly*

L: Charmander: "I wonder if this is how quicksand actually feels... If you ever find any in real life, let me know, okay?"

N: Squirtle: Sounds risky, but I don’t mind at all. This is a lovely feeling

*They sink to their chest as Charmander look back at his flaming tail*

L: As he watches his tail go under, just like with the water, the fire on its end stays lit, though it's harder to see since the quicksand isn't transparent. "Just like I thought, this is pretty much no more threatening to me than that water was!"

N: Squirtle: Hehe, yeah. Your body looks good in the sandy dip. Soothing you as you sink deeper and deeper

L: Charmander: "You look pretty good in here too, I wonder how the sand must feel on your shell..."

N: Squirtle: Nice and polish I bet, I love being in the sand. Especially with this kind of sand

*They sink to their neck*

L: Charmander: "Well, I guess we're not far from actually going under at this point... Are we gonna go all the way with this and let ourselves drown?"

N: Squirtle: Why not, we come so far to experience this moment

*They tilt their head*

L: Charmander: "Yeah, I think I'll actually do this! Gotta have the full experience while it's safe, right?"

N: Squirtle: Yeah, let’s sink under and have a good time

*The sand slowly covers their face as they sink fully under the quicksand*

L: Holding one last breath, Charmander smiles at the feeling of the sand all around him.

N: *They blissfully sink deeper and deeper as they start blowing bubbles*

L: Knowing that he'll be perfectly fine in the end, Charmander doesn't mind letting out some air like that, making his breath meter drain a little faster.

N: *They keep blowing more and more bubbles*

L: Charmander can feel the sand very slowly moving over him as he sinks, and it feels just as good to him as it did before he'd gone under.

N: *They felt the shifting sand soothing around the body as they both started to feel a little low on air*

L: Continuing to blow bubbles regardless, Charmander tries his best to ignore the strain he's starting to be under.

N: *They focus on the feeling of soft sand soothing the body more then the strain as their air is almost drained*

L: Charmander's stream of bubbles starts to falter, his lungs almost empty at this point.

N: *They felt the urge to breath as the air meter fully drained*

L: Even though Charmander struggles to hold his breath, there's nothing he can do any more, and he finally gasps down the quicksand! Just like with the water, it doesn't hurt much, though it's a different feeling from the water as he repeatedly coughs and inhales.

N: *They both enjoy the feeling as they inhale more soft sand into their lungs*

L: It feels interesting to Charmander to not be even trying to surface at all despite the situation, but by this point he's not sure he'd even make it anyway. He's willingly breathing now, enjoying having sand inside him.

N: *Their face starting to turn blue as their lungs are filled with sand*

L: Charmander actually holds a breath of sand for a few seconds, puffing up his cheeks with it, before blowing it back out. He can feel himself getting weaker as his health drains.

N: *They start blowing some big bubbles as they are getting close to passing out*

L: While he'd thought his lungs were completely full of sand, Charmander assumes that those bubbles must just be a thing with the game. Wondering if he can make those bigger, he tries to hold them back for a bit.

N: *As their health fully drained they release a huge bubble before passing out*

L: Charmander's eyes close as his health fully runs out...

And, a few seconds later, he and Squirtle reappear not too far from where they sank, perfectly healthy.

Charmander: "Man, that felt really good!"

N: Squirtle: Wow, that was good. I feel refreshed from all that

L: Charmander: "We should definitely do that again sometime, huh?"

N: Squirtle: Yeah, I will like to do that again
