"description": "Here's something pretty different: A proper comic! I made this to try to help me loosen up and stop only going for perfection, and I think it worked out pretty well. Partial credit for this goes to Rekstone767 (https://www.deviantart.com/rekstone767), whose comics gave me the confidence to try making one myself.\n\n\nStory below here\n\n\nA lone treecko stood on the edge of a pool, chest rising and falling as he repeatedly took deep breaths. With no one else around, he had nothing to distract him from his goal: Find out how long he can hold his breath.\n\nGrowing somewhat lightheaded, he gasped in one more breath and haphazardly threw himself into the water with a resounding splash, his body being momentarily tickled by the bubbles running across him. He closed his eyes, being incapable of seeing clearly underwater and unwilling to endure the chlorine stinging at them.\n\nThe treecko allowed himself to sink, eventually bumping his butt against the pool's floor. Now, the only air around for almost 20 feet was what this eager diver held in their lungs and cheeks, who smiled as they crossed their legs to get more comfortable.\n\nEven a minute and a half later, he felt no strain, calmly sitting in place with only his puffed cheeks and the occasional bubble to give away his lack of gills. Trouble was brewing, however, and not within him, but high above him: The pool's cover had begun to close, slowly but surely trapping him underwater. With his eyes closed, he didn't notice, and was soon imprisoned in the pool's depths.\n\nMinutes upon minutes slowly ticked by, and still, the treecko felt no strain, fully relaxed as he held his breath. As the 6th minute began, however, that started to change, subtle grunts becoming audible and his cheeks starting to very slowly expand. With the 7th minute, he could no longer relax, blushing and bubbling with the strain of his continued breath hold.\n\nFinally, with nearly 11 minutes underwater, and his blush beginning to turn purple, his will faltered, and he jumped from the pool's bottom to swim for the surface, a trail of bubbles following him upward.\n\nStill unaware of the cover blocking him from surfacing, the treecko bumped his head on it, burbling in surprise and adding more air into his ever-expanding cheeks.\n\nHe blindly felt around for a few seconds, then opened his eyes to look at what was blocking him, immediately squinting from the pain. Pressing his hands (and cheeks, albeit unintentionally) against the cover, he did his best to look through the transparent material to see if anyone was around that could help him escape, but it was fruitless, his surroundings far too blurry to make anything out.\n\nAfter continuing to attempt to identify anything above the surface for a time, the treecko gave up and let himself sink away from the cover, taking one last look at it before closing his eyes again, the pain in them beginning to slowly dissipate. No longer being pressed against the cover, his cheeks settled back into their mostly-spherical shape, now nearly as big as his own head.\n\nWith there being no method of escape, all he could do was hold his breath even longer and pray that someone would happen to see him. So, he did. For another two and a half minutes, he stood in place on the bottom, whining as his lungs started to burn and his face turned blue. Eventually, his lungs decided they were done holding this near-useless breath, and forced him to exhale... But, he kept his mouth shut, the spent air staying inside and now serving to further inflate his already enormous cheeks, now big enough for both together to rival the size of his entire body.\n\nJust seconds after the 15th minute started, the breathless treecko finally couldn't last any longer, and opened his mouth. A massive cloud of bubbles poured out, emptying his cheeks within moments and even exhaling what tiny amount of air remained in his overtaxed lungs.\n\nImmediately, he lept after the bubbles he'd lost, swiping at them in a fruitless attempt to grab some and inhale them again, the stinging at his eyes now the least of his concerns. He certainly did inhale, but he didn't get even a single bubble, instead filling his lungs with the pool water around him.\n\nMentally stunned, the now-drowning treecko simply held this aquatic breath for a time, inflating his cheeks once again, though with water instead of air this time.\n\nAbout 15 seconds passed before his mind finally caught up with what was happening, and he flew into a panic, hacking up the water along with what few tiny bubbles remained in his soaked lungs, then gasped again. Over and over, he'd cough and gasp, frantically thrashing, his pained gurgling echoing throughout the pool.\n\nWith a full minute of agonizing attempts to breathe water, the treecko's energy mercifully started to fade, his choking turning to simple panting that was gradually decelerating. Before long, his breathing had calmed, and, now lacking the strength to swim, his body began to sink.\n\nThe drowned treecko's body settled onto the pool floor once again, his vision dimming as he blankly stared at the cover trapping him down here. His mouth hung open, water wheezing back and forth through it several more times, until it stopped, his lungs giving up trying to breathe. Subtly shuddering, he tried to stay awake a while longer, but it wasn't long until his vision faded away to nothing, and he lost consciousness, his eyes still sleepily open.",
