Carmine laughed nervously, his claw resting against his nervous grinning lips. \n\n``Of course! You just gotta be a bit more confident!''\n\nThe costume was well fitted, for sure. The waistcoat and slacks he'd rented from a tailor were hanging perfectly around the dragon's body, making him seem even broader and sturdier... they did make his legs look great. The 3d printed accessories that turned the thrift-store ankle-boots into robotic-looking greaves had also turned out pretty spot-on. The full-head mask made up of a black harness and white wig was surprisingly quite breathable, too. He barely even noticed it.\n\nCarmine's physique obviously didn't match the lithe, sinuous body of the wolf butler he was cosplaying... but other than that, it was practically a one-to-one recreation. \n\nHe didn't even notice the contact lens in his eye any more. It wasn't until he saw himself that self-consciousness was starting to set in.\n\nTracy was peering around Carmine's left side, and Carmine's eyes locked with hers through their reflections. The robot-cat's AMOLED eyes gleamed with pride. The costumes had been her idea - and her creation, too. She was dressed to the nines in a long, flowing maid's outfit with very form fitting white stockings and an equally fitted corset around her waist and chest.\n\nThe nanofibre `hair' on her head had turned a stone-grey colour, and her normally yellow eyes glowed red.\n\nThis ``Rina'' and ``Von Lycaon'' were almost guaranteed to get stares and requests for photos all weekend long. They'd be the talk of the con. \n\nThat prospect clearly excited one of them more than the other. Tracy was so excited Carmine could hear her cooling fans working overtime to keep her temperature regulated.\n\nAs for him... he felt like he was going to faint.\n\nThe mask suddenly began to feel warm. His legs felt stiff, restricted by the greaves. He felt unwieldy and awkward. \n\nHe knew, objectively, that the outfit looked great. But that wouldn't matter if his anxiety was needling at him the whole time. He tried to keep it at bay, but he couldn't stop the worries from spilling out.\n\n``I dunno, hah... there might be other Von Lycaons about, and they might look the part better than me.''\n\n``So?'' Tracy scoffed. ``He's a popular character!'' \n\n``Yeah, so people are gonna expect something really spectacular...''\n\n``Which you are!'' Tracy scoffed and rolled her eye-screen. ``You look the part, surely you're feeling the part too, right? You can go full method-acting with it! Disappear into the character...''\n\n``I g-guess...''\n\n``I know you can do it. You've got nothing to worry about.''\n\n``When has that stopped me from worrying before,'' Carmine said, only a quarter joking.\n\nTracy's face dropped suddenly. The air seemed to shift. For a second, Carmine wondered if he'd said something wrong. But he didn't have time to wonder.\n\n``Now, this won't do at all!'' Tracy's voice had changed - her voice dropped half an octave, but her tone became smooth like a ballroom waltz. (She probably could have done a one-to-one replica of the voice actor, but she wanted her own personality to shine through a little.) ``You are the head of Victoria Housekeeping, after all!''\n\n``W-what?'' Carmine asked, feeling his muzzle strain with a nervous rictus smile.\n\n``Don't look so confused, sir!
