He reaches into his bag to pull out a ten inch tablet and sets off for his classroom. As the final bell rings he’s sits inserting the tablet into his class workstation. As his teacher welcomes the class starting the lecture he logs into the system accessing the first book of the day off his tablet. The day goes by much as expected as Kia goes through his classes with the same ritual until math for his test and English for his presentation. English was his most grueling having to speak in front of the class for his presentation, he was always use to creative writing but never having to read his work before the whole class. Throughout the whole presentation Kia’s cheeks have a blush to them. Getting through his English class Kia returns to his locker and grab his gym clothes for self defense class. Entering the locker room taking a seat by a gym locker he meets up with Aero, his friend and class sparring partner. Aero is a lizard boy around Kia’s taken in by a family in the pack when the military discovered him homeless and alone.\n\n“Hey Aero!” Kia says as he pulls his shirt off. “What’s up man?”\n\n“Yo Kia!” Aero says as he pulls his own shirt off. “Not much man.”\n\nKia, always comfortable around Aero unbuttons and unzips his pants letting them fall to the floor. The wolf lets his pants drop, the lizard eyes the lump in his underwear with quick glances. Kia has taken his share of hidden glances at Aero’s package without being caught but today he quickly dressed not really wanting to be in his underwear when other guys come in. After Aero dresses they walk out together chatting.\n\n“So?” Aero asks. “Do we have any idea how the teacher plans to test us?”\n\n“Yeah.” Kia says with a nod. “We’re going to the ruins in north forest down on the main land. A bunch of savage wolves are supposed to live there, wolves that are supposed to kill and eat anything that enters that forest. A few solders will go in to collar one for each of the class to fight one on one.”\n\n“What!” Aero cries. “Savages? They can’t! We’re too young, not ready to fight such a threat.”\n\n“Nonsense.” Kia says. “We’ve trained hard to a battle like this. My only regret is we’re not hunting them ourselves.”\n\nAero looks at Kia like he’s crazy and shakes his head.\n\n“You’ve always been nuts about this stuff.” Aero says laughing.\n\nThe boys take a seat on the gym floor and wait. Soon other students of assorted species file into the gym one by one sitting near the wolf and lizard. The number of students in the class number at 10 and they wait. The instructor, Mr. Dellard soon comes walking out and bows to all the students. Dellard is a lean wolf thin, fast and powerful. He wears the standard uniform of the Darkfang solder academy; black clothing with a small version of the pack crest, a wolf howling at the moon is pinned to the left side of his shirt that acts as a communicator. A long cloak hangs off his shoulders with the pack crest at his throat. He looks at looks at the students sternly.\n\n“Alright people lets settle down.” Mr. Dellard says. “A squad of solders is assembled outside with an airship. We’ll be heading to the ruins of north forest. Each of you will fight a savage wolf one on one with your chosen weapons. This is a melee battle of skill and speed against brute force so range weapons will not be permitted. If you knocking out or kill the savage you’ll go to the next level class, lose and you’ll remain in this class. If you can’t defeat the savage I myself or one of the solders will put it down for you.” Mr. Dellard unties his sheathed sword from his side and taps it on the floor. “Anyone who’d like to back out may do so now because once your opponent is captured you can’t be allowed to back out. You’re parents have been notified and all agreed to this test. Does anyone have any questions?”\n\nThe students look fearful and tension fills the air but no one backs out.\n\n“Very good, I’m very pleased students.” Mr. Dellard says and he turns to the door to the sporting fields. “Now, we move out! The airship is waiting right outside.”\n\nThe class files out the doors single file and board the airship. Looking around Kia sees a group of fifteen wolves of the Darkfang army. The solders are well armed each having a rifle strapped to their backs, a pistol on each hip and a dagger sheathed on each leg. Each one carries a snare pole to leash and drag animals. Kia looks them over getting a sense they’re average solders with average skills and no special gifts. He turns to Aero with a frown.\n\n“Why would they send average solders for this?” Kia asks in a whisper. “Even being so well armed if they managed to attracted many savages they could never fight them off.”\n\nAero shakes his head and laughs.\n\n“What? You think they’d send Darkfang High Guard for our group?” Aero asks. “We’re not even close to our ninth year, we haven’t even decided if we’re going to join the service program. Besides, they wouldn’t send an unprepared squad out on an assignment like this.”\n\n“I hope you’re right.” Kia says with a sigh. “I just feel like something’s wrong, I’ve got to be over reacting. You’re right, they wouldn’t send any squad unprepared.”\n\nSoon the airship quivers as it lifts off into the direction of the north forest ruins. The airship flies through at a high altitude with the wind blowing through the fur of its passengers.\n\n\tAfter some time in flight the airship lands next to a great forest. A ramp extends down and the squad of solders exit with Mr. Dellard to secure the area. Moments later Mr. Dellard returns to lead the students down the ramp. Looking around Kia sees a small area set up with four force field generators to force field off a ring. Five solders go off into the woods and soon return each having there snare poles collaring a savage wolf. The wolf growls and barks at the solders slashing its claws at them. The madness and hate in its eyes frightening to all the students that lay eyes on it. The solders drag it into the ring releasing it and activating the force field. The wolf charges at the barrier over and over again only to be repelled without injury. Mr. Dellard points to a saurian boy and the boy stands walking to the ring. On the way he pulls a small bar from his pocket and presses the center extending it into a staff. Kia sees this knowing it to be a Denn'bok or a basic fighting staff. The staff in its condensed form is easily concealed and one of the preferred up close melee weapon of the Darkfang Rangers. Such a weapon is only given this early to a family member of a Darkfang Ranger and this saurian boy was adopted by the head of the order. Kia remembers sparing this classmate before being assigned to Aero, he was as good as himself.\n\nThe saurian boy showed very little fear as he entered the ring only having faced such a creature in a holodeck. He enters the ring and the battle begins as the savage charges at him with mindless rage. With one whip of his lizard tail he cracks the savage across the face stunning it. With his Denn'bok swinging around the saurian strikes the savage in random places in the head over and over. The savage roars in rage unable to land a single on the quick saurian as it takes strike after strike. Blood pours from the creature’s wounds from the beating to the head and it staggers before dropping to its knees panting. The saurian boy raises his hand claws out to make the death blow but he stops looking at the beast before him. Unable to make the killing blow he swings his Denn'bok one last time striking the beast in the back of the neck causing it to fall over knocked out. Mr. Dellard crosses his arms.\n\n“Finish it!” Mr. Dellard cries. “The creature is a mindless beast who’s taken countless lives.”\n\n“No!” The saurian boy says shaking his head. “It’s finished. I will not take the life of something that can’t defend itself. You taught us to only kill as a last resort. There is no honor or glory in killing something weaker than you unless it’s for food.”\n\nA smile comes over Mr. Dellard’s face as he nods and opens a doorway in the force field.\n\n“Very good.” Mr. Dellard says. “You’ve passed.”\n\nAs the saurian boy walks out a solder walks in and kicks the creature to its back. He draws one of his knives and drives it into the chest of the savage. The creature slowly blackens and falls to ashes that blow out the doorway. The solder sheaths his dagger leaving the ring. Again solders go out for more savages as students fight them, some students put down the creatures others refuse to kill. The choice entirely up to each student since the test isn’t to see if they can kill.\n\n\tKia’s turn soon arrives but before a savage is dragged from the forest a voice comes yelling over the communicators of the solders and Dellard.\n\n“Adjuchas class hollow!” The voice cries. “Organizing the savages! Need assistance! AHH!!”\n\nAs the solders ready rifles savages come pouring from the forest and from above the mutilated corpse of one of the solders sent to capture savages is thrown to the ground. All look up to see the Adjuchas hollow, eyes black as night, hole in the center of its chest, clad in all black and a cloak hanging down its shoulders. The students shaking and weighed down a bit by the weight of its spirit pressure move behind Kia who is surprised by the fact he’s unaffected by this creature. Looking around even the solders seem a little weighted by this creature, only Dellard of the adults seems much less weighed down but still shows the effects of being somewhat weighted down. The Adjuchas turns its head to look at all the group and eyes Kia than points at him.\n\n“Kill the rest!” It says in that echoing voice. “Bring that one to me alive!”\n\nDellard steps forward drawing his blade.\n\n“Call off your beasts and face me monster!” Dellard says glaring up at the Adjuchas. “Face me one on one and let the children go!”\n\nAn evil laugh comes from the Adjuchas as he raises his hand to hold the savages.\n\n“Very well wolf, I’ll destroy you myself than have what I want.” The Adjuchas says landing to stand a few feet from Dellard.\n\n“Claw, Shadourufu (Shadow wolf). “Dellard cries out. Shadows cover him as a frightening wolf howl echoes all around. When the shadows clear Dellard stands there with gantlets on each hand with metal claws extending from the top of his wrists past his hands. “Get on the airship class, we’ll deal with him.”\n\nThe solders start firing on the savages as Dellard flash steps forward attacking the Adjuchas. Kia directs the class getting them on the airship but stands on the ramp watching the battle. Soon Aero comes to stand by him.\n\n“What the hell is going on?” Aero asks. “I almost couldn’t move when I saw that guy and it wasn’t fear, it felt like something was weighing me down.”\n\n“It’s the power of an Adjuchas.” Kia says. “We’ve learned about them but they leave the Hueco Mundo even less than a Menos Grande. Menos Grande class and above are something the Darkfang High Guard, Rangers or a Shinigami captain of The 13 Court Guard deal with.” Kia looks on at the battle with narrowed eyes. “None of them are strong enough. The weight of the Adjuchas weighs all of them down like it does you guys. Even Mr. Dellard is having trouble, he’s only fighting to protect us.”\n\nAero looks at Kia seeing he’s unaffected and looks confused. For a moment blackness covers his green eyes making them look like the Adjuchas. The lizard steps a little back.\n\n“Wow, this isn’t effecting you is it?” Aero asks. “I can see it, yes you’re unaffected by this. Does that mean….” Aero trails off. “Never mind…”\n\nKia and Aero watch, the lizard looking on in horror as the Adjuchas belts Dellard in the face again and again over powering him. The number of savages outside the forest quickly overrun the solders with sheer number killing them in cold blood and watch their master fight as they devour the fresh kills. The Adjuchas pummels Dellard over and over again finally backhanding him out of his way. The Adjuchas slowly walks to the ramp looking up at Kia.\n\n“You’ve such power in you and you’ve no idea you even have it.” The Adjuchas says. “It almost feels like the power of a hollow. You’re worthy enough to be devoured by me.”\n\nAero extends his High Guard staff and raises calling forth the power of earth. A stone fist rises up from the ground only to be batted away by the Adjuchas.\n\n“You won’t devour him or anyone.” Aero says as he points his staff at the Adjuchas. \n\nThe staff starts firing bolts of super heated plasma at the Adjuchas burning him and greatly annoying him. The Adjuchas Sonedos forward grabbing Aero by the face turns and throws him. It charges at Aero as he rises shaking and fires another barrage of super heated plasma from his staff. The Adjuchas only being annoyed more backhands the weapon from Aero and kicks him in the gut sending him flying to land a few feet from the woods. Kia watches this and a rage boils up in him like he’s never known. His eyes flash back and forth from lifeless black to green. The voice echoes through his head.\n\n“After all this you still won’t call on me Kia” The voice says as the boy shudders and sees a fire come around him. “There was a time you would’ve never allowed such a weak cur to talk down to you.”\n\n“W…Who’s there?” Kia asks a little shaky. “What are you talking about?”\n\n“That you don’t need to know.” The voice says as the flames around him gather to one point before the boy. “Do you want to be devoured to strengthen a cur who hasn’t right to live or do you want to save your friend and protect your classmates from the horrible death these creatures have in store for them?”\n\n“HOW!” Kia demands. “TELL ME HOW! WHAT DO I DO?!”\n\n“You already know how.” the voice says. ”You need but call my name as you’ve done in the past. Call me and we’ll fight as one as we always have.”\n\n“I don’t even know WHO you are!” Kia cries.\n\nAero’s screams bring Kia out of his trance.\n\n“Kia!” Aero cries. “HELP ME!”\n\nHearing his friend’s cries for help cause something to shatter in Kia. His eyes glaze over the jet black like the Adjuchas as his spirit pressure rises causing the Adjuchas to turn to him. Kia draws his sword as his body slowly hollowfies.\n\n“WHAT!” The Adjuchas cries. “What is this?!”\n\nKia’s voice comes in the echo like the Adjuchas’ as he growls.\n\n“Howl, Kyoka!” Kia cries.\n\nHis sword bursts into flames and fire surrounds him. When the fire clears Kia his fully hollowfied looking like a mini vasta lorde holding two kama scythes connected by a chain. He slams the ends together connecting them and Sonedos at the Adjuchas slashing his belly. He grabs Aero and Sonedos back to the ramp setting the lizard down. He turns to the Adjuchas and with a roar he goes at the creature again. He seems caught in mindless rages as he slashes the Adjuchas over and over again with surprising speed. Kia finally grabs the Adjuchas by the back of the head slamming his face into the ground and crushing his head ending the battle. He lets out a terrifying roar of victory just as a squad of Darkfang High Guard Flash step around him. A large wolf covered in fur black as night enters steps before Kia. The wolf sighs.\n\n“Father won’t be pleased about this.” The wolf says. “You just had to revert and screw up everything didn’t you.”\n\nKia just looks at the wolf giving only a low growl. Aero slowly stands leaning on his staff.\n\n“What are you doing?!” Aero cries. “He saved us!”\n\n“Stay back.” The wolf says. “He’s dangerous and this is our affair!”\n\nDellard slowly stands sheathing his sword and propping himself to lean on it like a cane.\n\n“General Nightsong sir!” Dellard says as he throws two darts at Kia. The darts both stab into Kia and he falls over sedated. Kia’s hollowfication cracks away into dust. “Surly you see he’s not a threat by the fact he hasn’t attacked and my darts have sedated him as you see. He should be taken to the medical bay back home and checked out before we make any rash choices.”\n\nGeneral Nightsong shakes his head and frowns as he draws his sword.\n\n“My duty is to our forest and the people who live in it.” General Nightsong says. “We can’t take the risk he’ll turn, I have no choice.”\n\nGeneral Nightsong raises his sword and slashes down to cleave Kia’s head.\n\n“VALOS NO!” Dellard cries as he rushes forward his blade deflecting the general’s blade.\n\n“You dare interfere?!” Valos cries as he decks Dellard in the face. “Remember your place Day Dellard! I am a Darkfang prince and as such my word is LAW!”\n\nBefore Valos can set his sword to cleave Kia’s skull one of his squad raises a hand.\n\n“Sir!” The solder says. “Lord Markus commands evacuation of the students and Kia taken to the high security medical bay.”\n\nValos’ eyes narrow and flames shoot from them.\n\n“Very well.” Valos says. “Restrain the prisoner, load him the others on the airship and move out. Blood pours from the creature’s wounds from the beating to the head and it staggers before dropping to its knees panting. The saurian boy raises his hand claws out to make the death blow but he stops looking at the beast before him. Unable to make the killing blow he swings his Denn'bok one last time striking the beast in the back of the neck causing it to fall over knocked out. Mr. Dellard crosses his arms.

“Finish it!” Mr. Dellard cries. “The creature is a mindless beast who’s taken countless lives.”

“No!” The saurian boy says shaking his head. “It’s finished. I will not take the life of something that can’t defend itself. You taught us to only kill as a last resort. There is no honor or glory in killing something weaker than you unless it’s for food.”

A smile comes over Mr. Dellard’s face as he nods and opens a doorway in the force field.

“Very good.” Mr. Dellard says. “You’ve passed.”

As the saurian boy walks out a solder walks in and kicks the creature to its back. He draws one of his knives and drives it into the chest of the savage. The creature slowly blackens and falls to ashes that blow out the doorway. The solder sheaths his dagger leaving the ring. Again solders go out for more savages as students fight them, some students put down the creatures others refuse to kill. The choice entirely up to each student since the test isn’t to see if they can kill.

\tKia’s turn soon arrives but before a savage is dragged from the forest a voice comes yelling over the communicators of the solders and Dellard.

“Adjuchas class hollow!” The voice cries. “Organizing the savages! Need assistance! AHH!!”

As the solders ready rifles savages come pouring from the forest and from above the mutilated corpse of one of the solders sent to capture savages is thrown to the ground. All look up to see the Adjuchas hollow, eyes black as night, hole in the center of its chest, clad in all black and a cloak hanging down its shoulders. The students shaking and weighed down a bit by the weight of its spirit pressure move behind Kia who is surprised by the fact he’s unaffected by this creature. Looking around even the solders seem a little weighted by this creature, only Dellard of the adults seems much less weighed down but still shows the effects of being somewhat weighted down. The Adjuchas turns its head to look at all the group and eyes Kia than points at him.

“Kill the rest!” It says in that echoing voice. “Bring that one to me alive!”

Dellard steps forward drawing his blade.

“Call off your beasts and face me monster!” Dellard says glaring up at the Adjuchas. “Face me one on one and let the children go!”

An evil laugh comes from the Adjuchas as he raises his hand to hold the savages.

“Very well wolf, I’ll destroy you myself than have what I want.” The Adjuchas says landing to stand a few feet from Dellard.

“Claw, Shadourufu (Shadow wolf). “Dellard cries out. Shadows cover him as a frightening wolf howl echoes all around. When the shadows clear Dellard stands there with gantlets on each hand with metal claws extending from the top of his wrists past his hands. “Get on the airship class, we’ll deal with him.”

The solders start firing on the savages as Dellard flash steps forward attacking the Adjuchas. Kia directs the class getting them on the airship but stands on the ramp watching the battle. Soon Aero comes to stand by him.

“What the hell is going on?” Aero asks. “I almost couldn’t move when I saw that guy and it wasn’t fear, it felt like something was weighing me down.”

“It’s the power of an Adjuchas.” Kia says. “We’ve learned about them but they leave the Hueco Mundo even less than a Menos Grande. Menos Grande class and above are something the Darkfang High Guard, Rangers or a Shinigami captain of The 13 Court Guard deal with.” Kia looks on at the battle with narrowed eyes. “None of them are strong enough. The weight of the Adjuchas weighs all of them down like it does you guys. Even Mr. Dellard is having trouble, he’s only fighting to protect us.”

Aero looks at Kia seeing he’s unaffected and looks confused. For a moment blackness covers his green eyes making them look like the Adjuchas. The lizard steps a little back.

“Wow, this isn’t effecting you is it?” Aero asks. “I can see it, yes you’re unaffected by this. Does that mean….” Aero trails off. “Never mind…”

Kia and Aero watch, the lizard looking on in horror as the Adjuchas belts Dellard in the face again and again over powering him. The number of savages outside the forest quickly overrun the solders with sheer number killing them in cold blood and watch their master fight as they devour the fresh kills. The Adjuchas pummels Dellard over and over again finally backhanding him out of his way. The Adjuchas slowly walks to the ramp looking up at Kia.

“You’ve such power in you and you’ve no idea you even have it.” The Adjuchas says. “It almost feels like the power of a hollow. You’re worthy enough to be devoured by me.”

Aero extends his High Guard staff and raises calling forth the power of earth. A stone fist rises up from the ground only to be batted away by the Adjuchas.

“You won’t devour him or anyone.” Aero says as he points his staff at the Adjuchas.

The staff starts firing bolts of super heated plasma at the Adjuchas burning him and greatly annoying him. The Adjuchas Sonedos forward grabbing Aero by the face turns and throws him. It charges at Aero as he rises shaking and fires another barrage of super heated plasma from his staff. The Adjuchas only being annoyed more backhands the weapon from Aero and kicks him in the gut sending him flying to land a few feet from the woods. Kia watches this and a rage boils up in him like he’s never known. His eyes flash back and forth from lifeless black to green. The voice echoes through his head.

“After all this you still won’t call on me Kia” The voice says as the boy shudders and sees a fire come around him. “There was a time you would’ve never allowed such a weak cur to talk down to you.”

“W…Who’s there?” Kia asks a little shaky. “What are you talking about?”

“That you don’t need to know.” The voice says as the flames around him gather to one point before the boy. “Do you want to be devoured to strengthen a cur who hasn’t right to live or do you want to save your friend and protect your classmates from the horrible death these creatures have in store for them?”

“HOW!” Kia demands. “TELL ME HOW! WHAT DO I DO?!”

“You already know how.” the voice says. ”You need but call my name as you’ve done in the past. Call me and we’ll fight as one as we always have.”

“I don’t even know WHO you are!” Kia cries.

Aero’s screams bring Kia out of his trance.

“Kia!” Aero cries. “HELP ME!”

Hearing his friend’s cries for help cause something to shatter in Kia. His eyes glaze over the jet black like the Adjuchas as his spirit pressure rises causing the Adjuchas to turn to him. Kia draws his sword as his body slowly hollowfies.

“WHAT!” The Adjuchas cries. “What is this?!”

Kia’s voice comes in the echo like the Adjuchas’ as he growls.

“Howl, Kyoka!” Kia cries.

His sword bursts into flames and fire surrounds him. When the fire clears Kia his fully hollowfied looking like a mini vasta lorde holding two kama scythes connected by a chain. He slams the ends together connecting them and Sonedos at the Adjuchas slashing his belly. He grabs Aero and Sonedos back to the ramp setting the lizard down. He turns to the Adjuchas and with a roar he goes at the creature again. He seems caught in mindless rages as he slashes the Adjuchas over and over again with surprising speed. Kia finally grabs the Adjuchas by the back of the head slamming his face into the ground and crushing his head ending the battle. He lets out a terrifying roar of victory just as a squad of Darkfang High Guard Flash step around him. A large wolf covered in fur black as night enters steps before Kia. The wolf sighs.

“Father won’t be pleased about this.” The wolf says. “You just had to revert and screw up everything didn’t you.”

Kia just looks at the wolf giving only a low growl. Aero slowly stands leaning on his staff.

“What are you doing?!” Aero cries. “He saved us!”

“Stay back.” The wolf says. “He’s dangerous and this is our affair!”

Dellard slowly stands sheathing his sword and propping himself to lean on it like a cane.

“General Nightsong sir!” Dellard says as he throws two darts at Kia. The darts both stab into Kia and he falls over sedated. Kia’s hollowfication cracks away into dust. “Surly you see he’s not a threat by the fact he hasn’t attacked and my darts have sedated him as you see. He should be taken to the medical bay back home and checked out before we make any rash choices.”

General Nightsong shakes his head and frowns as he draws his sword.

“My duty is to our forest and the people who live in it.” General Nightsong says. “We can’t take the risk he’ll turn, I have no choice.”

General Nightsong raises his sword and slashes down to cleave Kia’s head.

“VALOS NO!” Dellard cries as he rushes forward his blade deflecting the general’s blade.

“You dare interfere?!” Valos cries as he decks Dellard in the face. “Remember your place Day Dellard! I am a Darkfang prince and as such my word is LAW!”

Before Valos can set his sword to cleave Kia’s skull one of his squad raises a hand.

“Sir!” The solder says. “Lord Markus commands evacuation of the students and Kia taken to the high security medical bay.”

Valos’ eyes narrow and flames shoot from them.

“Very well.” Valos says. “Restrain the prisoner, load him the others on the airship and move out. I want the prisoner under heavy guard.”

The airship is loaded and with a shudder lift off to return to the floating continent of the forest city.
