Destiny was not ready to give up on the dream and went further and further into the realm of fringe science, researching things that couldn't have been accomplished under normal practices. No one knows what became of Destiny and LustCo but one day all communication ceased and the company seemed to vanish from the face of the planet. What we're walking through is what remains of their main facility, long since abandoned.\"\n\nSasha looked around again, casting his miniature LED flashlight's beam about the corridor. \"And OmniMed built over this location to prevent anything they made from getting out, right?\"\n\n\"[i]On the contrary,[/i]\" the tinny voice of Beverly chimed in. \"[i]This location was chosen for a number of reasons, not just because of its infamy. The fact that we could ensure no one could sneak in and loot any remaining artifacts from LustCo's days was a bonus. We had been planning for an exploration team to comb through this underground but the events of tonight have forced our hand.[/i]\"\n\n\"Hence why we're down here,\" Katie concluded and little twirl. \"A pair of scientists just girlishly thin enough to wriggle down the ducts from topside to down below.\"\n\nSasha blushed a little but nodded. \"I understand that. Beverly said there had been a electrical drain in this location the last few days and that's where the weird clone likely came from. Some kind of cloning machine, right?\"\n\nAgain, the tinny sound of Beverly's voice from topside answered. \"[i]Correct. The model we saw tonight should be enough to confirm my suspicions. "Or whatever other kinds of devices she's powered up down there. She said she got everything she needed from this location... maybe we can pinpoint how many of these hazards she's created!"

The two poured over data, scientists hard at their craft as they analyzed readings from the labs above and deciphered the schematics and plans from below. When a chronological order could be ascribed to the notes and writings, Katie felt a twinge of fear at how drastically Destiny's mood changed the longer she experimented. Whatever she had done to herself seemed to affect her at a deeper level and drove her creativity as well as her desperation to new limits. When all was said and done, Katie and Beverly determined that a total of ten successful experiments had been completed in the underground lab with multiple power readings indicating the use of portals either coming or going. Discounting the two clones that had been captured earlier that evening, that left a total of eight unidentified projects that had been created underneath the main OmniMed complex.

"That's... more than I anticipated," Beverly sighed and rubbed at her temples. "I had hoped it wasn't this bad. I'm afraid this tips my hand."

Katie stood straight, her full tummy sloshing softly from the motion. "Wait, we're going that far?"

Beverly nodded. "I'm afraid so. Since these fringe-level phenomena are likely outside the main complex and loose in the city, we'll need a team dedicated to handling them be they more clones or something stranger. We'll need brains as well as specific skills, brains and skills rather like yours, Katie." She smiled at the bunny. "It would mean having to take a leave from your position at Kei Corp so you don't have to rush-"

"Deal!" Katie cried and hopped in place. "I do love my job but there's no way in heck I'll miss out on this! Besides, they're making clones of me so I'm entitled to take it a little personally."

Beverly tittered. "Fair enough, although I'd rather we didn't take too many chances. You'll be in charge of this little covert team, my direct link if you come across any phenomena."

Katie grinned and set her paws on her hips again. "So, a crack scientific/medical team dedicated to studying and containing the rogue LustCo experiments. Do I get to choose who will be on it?"

"To a degree-"

"Sasha," Katie said at once. "His intuition and ingenuity are invaluable, not to mention I've grown rather attached." She blushed and smiled.

Beverly raised an eyebrow but soon smiled as well. "Done, but please take care not to break my cutie's heart." Reaching into her desk, the bovine produced a collection of folders and spread them out before Katie. "Two more should fill out the team nicely and I have acquired dossiers on these qualified individuals. I'll leave their selection up to you but might I suggest one that's rather near to your own heart."

Katie paused, lifting one of the folders. "Do you mean Kacey?"

"Close but not quite, Kacey's far more qualified to assist in the study of the gadgets that were brought from underground. The position I think you must fill is more to the medical side, a brave and caring individual that can protect-"

"Shar?" Katie gasped after opening the folder. "Wait, this dossier says she took the police exam last week... and passed! This is the first I've heard about it."

Beverly blinked in surprise. "Kacey never told you?"

Katie was silent for a moment before realization hit. "I don't think she knows either," Katie murmured and clapped the folder shut. "I'll look over the rest later, hun, there's a lot I have to take care of. Oh, when Sasha's awake can you please tell him I'll be ready for our date at noon?"

"Of course, but where are you off to so suddenly? The sun is due to rise, shouldn't you get some rest?"

Katie turned and gave a knowing grin despite the deep blush on her cheeks and her cutely sloshing tummy. "This bun doesn't go back on her promises. I'll sleep after I give that cute pony over there one heck of a date," she announced. "But first, I need to speak to a certain canine about keeping secrets from my daughter."

Beverly smirked. "Will that be before or after you offer her the position of guard dog?"
