Basically it's is a rhythm video game developed and published by Geechs, in conjunction with Sanrio. Later as many stuff by Sanrio usually do, it was turned into an anime. Currently anime have two seasons.
Now...it's a bit hard to recommend this one. I would say that you need to love music - specially rock'n roll - and cute things, which Sanrio is master of doing. And indeed Show by Rock!! do have quite a few nice characters in that sense; pretty much all the cast have what we may call a nekomimi form ( basically humans with animal ears or tails) and pure kemono form. The thing is, unfortunately, the characters in the kemono form are all in 3D and they really screwed up there...I mean they do look at least "ok" but if they were 2D like say the cute characters of pretty much any other anime with Sanrio characters? They all would be glorious!
I have no doubt if they were in 2D the anime would be far more famous and so would the characters. But it is hard to get into them when they're in 2D when in kemonomimi and turn into "ugly" 3d when in kemono. A shame but oh well.

Those are the guys of the band Shingan Crimsonz, one of the few boy bands of the anime. They just released this new album called Rocking Butts and they put quite a lot of love in it so I hope they sell well this time. If so, maybe the other bands will follow and release albums similar to this one! :3
From left to right in first row:
- Aion: Lion Mummon who is very calm and yet thinks highly of himself. Usually gets into fights with Crow and Yaiba, he wields the Holy Arc Guitar.
- Crow: The leader of Shingan Crimsonz, he is a Hedgehog Mummon who aims to be the best rocker in MIDI City. Shown to be as impulsive and vulgar, he usually boast his skills in music and tends to disagree with Aion and Yaiba. Being from a family of Dairy Farmers, he sometimes think his fans are cattle to him which is considered an insult to them. However, he is very skilled in music and wields the ax-shaped Red Tomahawk Guitar.
- Yaiba: A Fox Mummon who knows the way of the samurai, Yaiba is a guy who has huge respect to the way of the Bushido and the Rock Spirit. He is very timid and somehow gets into fights with both Crow and Aion. He wields the "Ryūkenden" guitar.
- Rom: A Leopard Mummon and the de facto leader the group. Despite having a hot personality and looking tough, he is level headed and usually scolds the other 3 when they're arguing. He plays the Skull Jacker Drums and is the only member of the group who has a full time job.
