But these are no mere strays, as they are capable of cunning maneuvers that make even veteran adventurers tremble. Tremendous monstrosities are easy to read, and slow to strike. But dogs? Dogs are scary. Their quick, low strikes bring hunters to their knees, seizing every opportunity to harry distracted foes and utilizing swift flanking formations to ensure they have their prey surrounded for a proper rutting.[/i]\n\n[i]When the beast plague first began to overtake the Chancel, its Ladies did not sit idly by and hide in fear within their regal estates. No, they took up the call for the hunt, the blessed purge decreed by the demon lords to cleanse their city of this taint. Together with their bound thralls, they took to the streets to begin hunting these eldritch monstrosities, but even the victories they did manage to accrue took their toll, spreading the beast plague even further until the hunters began to resemble that which they hunted.[/i]\n\n[i]While it was common for Ladies gifted in shaping magics to transform their favored Thralls into feral shapes for their own amusement, it seems the obsession with the hunt spread such forms to Thrall and Lady alike, their compulsions eventually robbing them of all wit and memory, leaving them as feral beasts roaming the streets in wild packs.[/i]\n\n[i]One most often encounters multiple hunt hounds at once, led by a single Alpha that was once their Lady, to whom they still serve even in this diminished state.
