Who's been avoiding her.", "writing": "Chapter 29\n\n\tKit is standing in the store as Spec goes on about business. She’s a nervous wreck as she thinks, “What’s Cindy going to think”? The biggest thing is what is Angie thinking? Her best friend has had a thing for Spec since before Kit arrived.\n\n\tSpec seems to think nothing of what they did, almost like it didn’t happen. Kit however is overwhelmed in gilt. She can also tell Angie is pissed because they haven’t even spoke since she showed up. She did something very out of character, she went straight to work.\n\nKit is getting more nervous. She knows the silence between them will end sometime. She just don’t know when it’ll be, or if it’ll be with a fight. As the day passes, she tries to say something a few times. Angie just goes to the other side of the store. Even at lunch, Angie leaves before Kit can go with her.\n\n\tFinally, the day wraps up and they head home. Angie is still quiet as they walk into the apartment. Vicky cheerfully says, “Hey”. But Angie just groans, “When are you going to find your own place?” Vicky is a little hurt but Kit comforts her by saying, “You can live in my room if you have to. I pay half the rent”. Vicky can sense something is wrong but doesn’t say anything. She just follows Kit to her room. Vicky doesn’t want to get in the middle of whatever is going on but she also needs a place to stay so she’s going to side with her sister.\n\n\tIn Kit’s room Vicky casually asks, “So Kit, where did you sleep last night”? Kit growls and says, “Why is everyone in my business”? Vicky don’t answer, she just walks out to where Angie is, figuring that will be best. Angie’s sitting cross legged thinking. Still wanting to remain neutral in this, Vicky decides to sit and relax.\n\n\tKit has her pillow over her head, embarrassed about her actions. How could she fuck her boss? She’s tried her whole life to be good. When one of her teacher’s, Mr. Robinson, asked her if she wanted extra credit and then look up her skirt. She asked to be transferred out of his class. He never bothered her again. Though her work was harder than what she remembered Angie having in his class.\n\n\tShe also would do some work with an old farmer down the road. He wanted her to do more than just chores though. Like once he had a maid’s apron beside her gear when she went in. He wanted her to wear it with nothing else. She never told anyone about his antics. She even acted like he never tried. But after that day she went back to his house and quit. It was just twenty dollars a week so it wasn’t that big of a hit to her wallet.\n\n\tShe knew what the two wanted and her life would have been rewarded but she didn’t want to be known for that. She made her sister and brother swear not to even mention what she did with them.\n\nNow she wants the fight or whatever is happening between her and Angie to end. She finally decides to get up and see what’s going on. As she gets to her door she hears someone knock on the apartment’s door. Not wanting anyone to see her puffy eyes from crying, she sits on her bed.\n\n\tAngie is still sitting in the same position when she hears the knock. After a few more she gets up and gets it. Standing in front of her is Josh. He smiles and says, “Hey Angie”. Angie groans and says, “What”? He can feel the tension and says, “Is Kit home”? Angie rolls her eyes, and says, “Don’t expect to get laid”. He looks at her weird as he steps in. She points to her room, “She’s in there”. He grins expecting something, but he walks into Kit sitting on her bed with her right arm hiding her eyes. He has no idea what to think so he decides to come back later\n\n\tKit waits a few minutes after he leaves to give apologizing another try. First thing she says when out of the room, is, “Sorry Angie”. Angie growls and walks into the kitchen. Kit sits down beside her sister. Angie decided to just sit in the living room instead of leaving. It’s starting to get dark and the only businesses that are open would be bars.
