Champ slowly stirred under the sheet, waking with a soft moan. He was still struggling to get used to his new bed, his new routine, his new life in a new family with different customs. At least Snowy Heart was understanding, as well as making little noise. Not to mention that Anger Heart and Defiant Heart didn't fight that morning, maybe out of respect for their new friend.
As he straightened up in bed, the bear saw his roommate sitting on his meditation cushions, and it was not the young athlete's intention to disturb him, as he had noticed that meditation was as important to the shaman magician as the sport meant to him. Silently, the sportsman grabbed his coat and sash and headed for the bathroom to do his morning business and get ready for breakfast. As he put the red headband in his hair, he looked at his reflection in the mirror, seeing his gray and cracked symbol, which made him give a sad sigh before fastening the buttons on his coat.
Leaving the bathroom, Champ tried to make as little noise as possible, and he quickly made the bed, folding the sheet and adjusting the pillow, before heading to the bedroom door.
- You're not even going to say good morning for me? – Snowy questioned suddenly, with his eyes closed and a small smile on his lips.
- Arghh! – the bear screamed and jumped, before turning to the fox – Snowy? But weren't you meditating?
- As much as you try, you are not an expert in keeping silent – said the fox shaman with a chuckle, staring at the young athlete with his deep blue eyes – I heard you getting up, and then I stopped meditating. How was your night?
- I think I slept well... I mean, I have a little back pain and my sleep was lighter than usual, but I can't complain...
- We all have trouble sleeping when it's a different bed than ours - Snowy mused, getting to his feet and piling his meditation pillows in a corner of the room - But don't worry, you'll soon get used to it, and you'll sleep as well as if this had always been your bed.
- I hope so... - replied Champ in a sad tone, while the smile disappeared on his lips and he lowered his head despondently, remembering that he would never see his bed in Care-a-lot again - I just want to believe so...
- Hey! I know it's difficult, but try not to think that way - commented the white fox when realizing what the sportsman was thinking - You're among friends, and we're going to help you get over it all. But now we'd better go get some breakfast, before Anger and Defiant eat it all up!
Such a comment made the sport bear chuckle, after all the night before he could prove that the red fox and the badger really had a sweet tooth and almost ate the whole dinner. But that was just one facet of their personalities, which showed that the Terada were an "ordinary" family, each with their own way and their thoughts, and all trying to be as kind, polite and attentive as possible with the new resident of the house. With the obvious exception of Loveheart, who still wanted to hang the sport bear.
Champ and Snowy quickly descended the stairs towards the dining room, finding everyone else already gathered there, helping themselves. Sage Heart was at the head of the table, with Loveheart and Sweet Heart sitting on his right side, while Life was sitting on his left side. Along with the unicorn were Confidence, Calm, Deafiant, Guidance and Anger, and beside the lime green bear and the young pegasus were Passion, Crafty, and two vacant seats, where the white fox and the young athlete quickly headed.
However, as soon as Loveheart saw the sportsman sit down at the table, he frowned angrily and threw a death glare in the teenage bear's direction, who gulped as he realized his presence bothered the swordsman.
- Excuse me, I lost my appetite! – snorted the leader of the Magi, gritting his teeth, pushing the chair and getting up quickly, without hiding the hatred he felt.
Champ just lowered his head sadly, at the same time that Confidence also got up and ran after her boyfriend, who had already grabbed his katanas and was leaving to train.
- Loveheart, please wait! – the fennec asked in a distressed tone, putting herself in front of the lime green bear – Please, I know you're furious, but don't take your anger out on Champ!... If you have to hate someone, hate me...
- I hate you two, and nothing will change that, you traitor! – he retorted in a dry tone, pushing the fighter to the side and leaving through the door, without saying anything else.
The desert fox gave only a sad sigh, before lowering her head and slowly returning to the breakfast table, where everyone else remained silent. Life Heart quickly grabbed the fennec hands once she sat down, and smiled warmly at her.
- Be patient, Confidence – asked the unicorn in a sweet tone – Loveheart is still hot headed and needs some time to put his ideas in place.
- He'll never forgive me... – murmured the fighter, taking another sigh and trying to compose herself – I just wish he wouldn't take out the anger he feels towards me on others...
Once again everyone remained silent, not knowing what to say, while Champ just lowered his head and felt guilty that everything was happening, unworthy to remain there, among Confidence's family members.
- II-I think I better leave... - he stammered, getting to his feet, feeling his cheeks blush with embarrassment – After all, this is all my fault...
- You really are good at creating trouble – said Defiant Heart in a sarcastic tone, before taking a double elbow in the belly from Guidance and Calm – Hey! I told no lies!
- Enough, Defiant! – demanded Sage Heart with a frown, before turning to the athletic bear – And we've already talked about this, Champ. You are welcome among us, so don't feel sad or overwhelmed, and take your seat back at the table.
- Daddy is right, you don't have to feel sad – agreed Sweet Heart with a friendly smile – Besides, don't mind what Loveheart does, he's just a grumpy adult, like Anger Heart and Defiant Heart.
- Hey! – the red fox and the badger exclaimed at the same time, while the sportsman started laughing playfully.
- If you think your brothers are grumpy, it's because you haven't met Grumpy Bear – commented Champ, sitting down again and looking at the pegasus – He complains all the time, about everything that exists under the sky. But he's a cool bear, and also the best mechanic in Care-a-lot.
- When he wants to be – Confidence said with a laugh, shaking her head – I can even imagine what his reaction would be when he met Sweet Heart. He would certainly say something like “oh no, one more cub to drive me crazy!”...
- Why would he say something like that? – questioned the young winged mare, frowning – I would never drive him crazy. Does he not like children?
- He doesn't have much patience to play with cubs - replied the athletic bear amusingly, buttering toast - Although being a Hugs and Tugs nanny is never an easy task...
- Are there other cubs in the Kingdom of Caring? – asked Crafty Heart curiously.
- Yes, a couple of twins, the same age as Sweet – said the fennec quickly with a smile – They live with their grandmother Flower, who everyone calls Grams Bear. I liked to take care of them, after all they were both very playful...
- You, enjoying taking care of children? – Defiant joked, widening his eyes – You can't be our sister Cassandra Terada, that's impossible! You don't like children! It could only be someone else who took her place...

- Wow! That's cool, I've never met other cubs like me! – said the young pegasus flapping her wings excitedly – I would love to be their friend, and teach them some magic!
- And I bet they would love to teach you a lot of fun pranks… - Champ agreed with a sad smile, since he knew Sweet Heart would never find Hugs and Tugs – You three could even train together how to use Stare...
- But after all, what is the Stare? – Passion asked looking at the bear, with a piece of pie stuck on the fork – You and Confidence have mentioned that name several times, but you still haven't explained what it is!
- In fact, Confidence already told Calm, Life and I about it – Guidance countered with a wink – It's a kind of magical power, in the form of a luminous ray and that comes out through our symbols on our belly.
- And that can be used to build objects, as well as a defense weapon, and also serves to bring good feelings to people – added the fennec quickly – It is a special gift that the Great Wishing Star gave to our species, through our symbols on the belly.
- And that's why the members of the Care Bear Family wear few clothes, like Champ – commented Life heart with a smile – That way, it's easier to use Stare. At least that's what Confidence told us...

- Then maybe I should convince the Care Bear Family to change their mind – concluded the coyote with a wink, sticking out her tongue at the fighter, which made everyone start laughing, while they continued eating breakfast and talking about the Kingdom of Caring, and also about Champ, who was beginning to feel more at home with his new friends… His new family.

Polite Panda slowly shifted on the bed and opened her eyes, immediately seeing through her blurry vision that she wasn't in her house. In fact, that seemed to be Tami's room, where she and the girl spent good hours playing together or with other girls from the village. But she didn't remember how she got there, nor why she was lying in her friend's bed.
The female panda tried to turn over on the bed, and she gave a grunt of pain as her arms, legs and muscles ached as if they hadn't been used for some time. Finally she managed to turn on her side, and saw her brother Perfect sitting in a chair, dozing, with deep dark circles under his eyes, indicating that he hadn't slept well last night.
- PP-Perfect?... - she called in a low and a bit thick voice, and she moaned again as she reached out to touch her brother's knee - Perfect...
- Oh? What? Who?... - the panda bear woke up with a start, before turning towards the bed and seeing his sister awake - Polite! You woke up, my beloved sister!
And saying that, he jumped out of his chair and hugged his sister tightly, starting to cry with joy. His scream attracted the attention of Kriskun, Grams Bear, Tumi, Tami, Hugs, Tugs and Bright Heart, who rushed into the room.
- Perfect, we heard voices!... – the old carib began in a worried tone, but as soon as he saw that Polite had woken up, he breathed a sigh of relief – Thank heavens! You woke up!
- Polite! – the four children shouted, running towards the female panda and also hugging her happily.

For a few seconds she was silent, still feeling her mind a little clouded, trying to understand what the raccoon wanted to say, and even why he, Grams Bear and the cubs were there. That's when her eyes widened and she jumped on the bed, remembering what had happened to the Care Bear Family.
- Oh dear! Goodluck Bear! – she screamed desperately, trying to stand up, before feeling dizzy and falling back onto the bed – My Goodluck Bear is in danger! You managed to rescue him, didn't you? Answer, Perfect! By the Great Wishing Star, say you were able to rescue him, and the others too!
- Unfortunately, we haven't managed it yet... – murmured the panda bear with a sad look, lowering his head – For five days we met, and many solutions we discussed... But without being able to use Stare, we don't have any way...
- Something is preventing us from using the Stare, and without it we can't create cloud cars and get out of here – explained the young inventor quickly – Not to mention that we were also worried about you, Polite, burning with fever in the last four days...
- We couldn't leave Perfect and you in that situation, we wanted to make sure you recovered – Grams Bear said with a slight loving smile – And you can't imagine how happy we are now, to see you awake...

Everyone just stayed silent for a few moments, looking at each other not knowing exactly what to say, with the exception of Kriskun, who remained with his head down, scratching his chin with a thoughtful expression, before looking up and facing his friends.
- I think I need to show you something... – said the old carib slowly, before turning to Polite – Do you feel strong enough for a little walk, even if it's in my lap?
- I'm still tired, but I think this offer shouldn't be refused – replied the female panda bear with a wide smile on her lips – Besides that if it's to help save Goodluck, then I'll feel strong.
Kriskun gently picked up Polite and carried her out of the room, followed by his grandchildren and furry friends. He also called his son Nulah, who was Tumi and Tami's uncle, as well as his son-in-law Ariky, who was the father of the two children, to accompany the group when it entered the forest.

- An area where most of our people are not authorized to enter – Nulah explained quickly, wearing his Hawaiian shirt, white pants with thick cloths and holding his fishing spear – Only father Kriskun, Ariky, me and three other fishermen can enter here, to cut the weeds and try to keep things in order.
- But here is the old airstrip! - exclaimed Flower openmouthed, putting her hands to her mouth as she recognized that place that was so familiar to her, where so many dreams had been left behind.
At that moment, the thirteen humans, bears and cousins had entered a long clearing, which really did resemble an old airport. The concrete track was now bare of any marks, and in several places the destroyed pavement had been covered over by short grass. Two large, reasonably well-preserved sheds, a command tower in ruins, as well as two or three rooms on the ground floor also destroyed by time, attracted everyone's attention.
- Exactly, it was from here that you left 50 years ago... - Kriskun agreed with the old bear, and he had a distant and pensive look, remembering what had happened half a century before - I have made this place off-limits to most villagers, to keep it as you left it.

Bright Heart, Grams Bear, Share Bear, Aqua Bear, Amigo Bear, Hugs, Tugs, Perfect, Polite and Cubot weren't saying anything, they were just looking around in awe, feeling the connection between the Care Bear Family and that place. Slowly they walked toward the hangars, two cars and a bus rusting in the parking lot.

- I remember there was a plane here... And from its wings we would slide to the ground... - Polite murmured with tears in her eyes - We were at the tenderest age... And in us there was so much happiness...

- We played with great joy, it seemed to be special that day – Perfect had a sad look and full of memories – Then we were scared, and I just remember something horrible coming out of the trees...
- That was when No Heart appeared for the first time in our lives – said Flower Bear with a slight sigh, reliving everything that happened on that fateful day – Part of the cubs was already aboard the Cloud Clipper, as well as Noble and True, while another group was on the pier, including Perfect and Polite. That witcher attacked us at Dark Heart's command, and the cubs that were on the pier fell into the water...
- Really, I remember being soaked, feeling freezing cold – agreed the female panda thoughtfully – And what happened to the other cubs?
- We don't know, we never found any sign of them, just as we didn't even know that you two were alive - replied Ariky quickly to the panda siblings - It was a surprise for Grams Bear to say that one of the cubs reappeared in Care-a-lot after so long...

Despite the years and the lack of maintenance, the structure of that building was not as bad as one might assume. A few windows were broken, the paint was faded, and weeds were growing along the walls. But the roof was still intact, and the doors remained closed. It even seemed like a miracle that the building was the way it was, after so many years of neglect.
Quickly, the small group was in front of the main gate, before it began to be opened by Nulah and Ariky, with a long and deep creak of old and rusty things. But slowly, for the first time in half a century, the contents of that hangar were revealed to the eyes of someone outside the Carib village, and the bears and cousins could not help but let out a long surprised exclamation.
There was a lot of dust, mud and mold in the place, some tools had fallen from their rotted holders on the wall. Opaque and broken glass, doors half open or lying on the floor after falling from their frames, leaking barrels that appeared to contain fuel or oil, everything was in the same place as on March 13, 1943, even the mobile boarding ladder that Edward had only thrown into a corner, before running to say goodbye to Norman, Flower and Joyful as they took off.
But the bears, cousins and humans only looked at these details later, as all attention was initially directed to the large aircraft that was parked in the center of the hangar, its wings covered with dust, its weather-beaten paintwork, with deflated tires and several other signs of half a century of neglect, but which still proudly bore the “San Martin Airlines” emblem emblazoned on the side. Bright Heart, though not a specialist of airplanes, approached in awe, touching that old "steel eagle" with the same veneration he would have had for a dinosaur.
- A “Condor”... – he muttered looking at the four-engined engine almost without believing what he was seeing – Heavens! I never thought I'd see one of these...
- What's so amazing about this plane? – asked Aqua with a slightly furrowed brow – To me it's just a pile of junk.
- This is a Focke Wulf FW-200 Condor, a German plane from the 1930s – explained Cubot quickly, also approaching the old aircraft – And since only 300 units were produced, and officially none survived the end of the war, this one must be the rarest plane in the world!
- Exactly, there were two in the fleet of San Martin Airlines, and they were Frank's favorite planes - commented Grams Bear with a smile - Sometimes he himself liked to command the weekly flights to Miami, Havana and Santo Domingo. We didn't use that plane for the getaway because it had a problem with one of its engines that very day, so we left it behind.
- How do you know so much about planes, Grams Bear? - asked Share Bear with a surprised look at the old woman - Was it one of your hobbies when you were young?
- No, not really, I preferred gardening and gastronomy – Flower replied with a chuckle – But as Frank and Trevor frequented my house a lot, we often talked about it, in addition to that Heavenly always showed an interest in flying machines built by humans.

Polite asked Kriskun to put her down, as she wanted to walk a bit even though she was still very weak. Luckily Perfect took her arm gently as they walked around the old four-engined plane, before approaching a smaller plane that was alongside.
- This is a North American T6 Texas, a training and light attack aircraft – said the purple raccoon, seeing the interest of the siblings panda in that aircraft – Almost all countries in the world had this type of aircraft, from South Korea to Portugal.
- Including the San Martin Air Force, I remember when these planes arrived – commented Kriskun with a slight smile – I had black hair at the time, and you were cubs. Time takes its toll on both men and machines...
Grams Bear was slowly walking around the T6, and upon hearing the old carib's words, she stopped and giggled.
- Well, I wasn't a cub at the time, and I'm just as old as I feel – she said with a wink, before looking around – I thought there was a third plane in the hangar when we left…
- And there really was a third plane, but it took off that same night after you fled the island – Kriskun explained quickly, which made Flower look at him in amazement – We don't know who it was, we just heard the sound of the engines and, when I came here the next morning with Tília, the plane was no longer here.
- You mean there were more survivors? – Bright Heart exclaimed with a thoughtful look – Could it be that this is how Confidence left the island?... Could it be that there are other bears and cousins lost around the world?!?
- Or it could have been Klaus and some soldiers, fleeing the snowstorm - Share Bear said with a slight sigh - I guess we'll never know the answer...
- Hey, Tugs! – the little pink female bear called her brother – What is Grams Bear thinking while she looks at that plane?
- It must be something very important – replied the little blue male bear – I think she is having an idea, as well as Perfect and Polite!
Indeed, at that moment the old female bear stopped beside the panda siblings, and they stood there in silence, deafened by the conversation of the other friends and only concerned with seeing that old plane. Ideas were popping into their heads.
- Are you thinking the same as me? - Flower asked Polite.
- If you are thinking of using this plane, our thought is the same then – replied the female panda with a smile, before turning to Perfect – What do you think of that, my brother?
- I don't know if this machine could again to fly, but without other ideas we can even try - said the male panda with a smile, turning to the young inventor - Bright Heart who knows almost everything, I ask you now not to be silent, and give us your opinion on fixing this plane, to be a means of salvation.
- You're crazy! (You're crazy!) – Amigo Bear's eyes widened when he heard that – This plane has been parked for decades, I doubt that we can get it out of this building without it completely dismounting, let alone flying!
- I agree with you, this is crazy – Share Bear said sadly, but with an undecided expression – Although… If there is anyone who can put this plane to fly again, that someone is Bright Heart!
