His curse was to bear the burden of the scythe and perform the reaper's duties for several centuries so he would understand why death is such an important and integral part of life and must not be tampered with. \n\nThough this punishment hadn't exactly gone according to plan. Too afraid of what his afterlife will be once finished with his punishment, Victor refused to relinquish the scythe once his time as reaper was complete, instead pleading to continue on. The reaper, feeling only pity for the man by this point, allowed him to do so.
