Sometimes stories go in the direction of things just being natural, that predators/prey just kind of accept what's happening - everypony's gotta eat. In most of my works I take the opposite approach - prey are usually pretty horrified at what's happening, and while I often draw preds winning, my pieces aren't usually sympathetic to them.\n\nThis is absolutely related to the autism, I know that it's weird that I get more disturbed and upset about the Circle of Life song in the Lion King than I do about the things that my own fatal preds to their prey. Breaking down why that happens would require a long, strange conversation, but the end result is that for whatever reason, I don't really have a lot of patience for narrative tropes about fatal vore being a moral grey area or just a cultural thing, or that's asking me to be sympathetic to a pred because they've got some code or spare one or two prey or because their culture works a certain way. asdfhasf... Fuck that, there's a kind of objectification of prey that is necessary in those tropes that just slips right under my skin and hits me really hard.\n\nThat's not me saying that the tropes are immoral or shouldn't be used. A big part of suspension of disbelief is the ability to suspend our morals and say, \"don't think about it, just accept the premise that this is OK\". Yeah, the Circle of Life would be bullshit in real life and Mufasa is a murderer - but you're not supposed to [i]think about that[/i]. It's there to create a narrative tone, not to say something about whether it's okay to form a society based entirely around the suffering of others. Suspending morals is okay, I do it all the time in my works <3 There are characters that I draw that are presented as good that do problematic things that you're not supposed to think about. So when I talk about the kinds of vore I won't interact with or draw, that's not me making a value judgement, it's me pointing out areas where my autism and my experiences make it very difficult for me to suspend my disbelief and make it hard for me to stop thinking about it. >w<\n\nDespite that, there is something very fun about a prey discovering how low on the totem pole they actually are. Thinking they have a relationship with somepony based on mutual respect and finding out that they are not being afforded the moral worth they thought they were :3c I'll always have a soft spot for that moment, I kind of love it, especially when it's paired with this kind of cutesy indifference where the pred doesn't care, not because they're trying to be cruel but because they literally in that moment (whether they'd acknowledge it or not) just don't see the prey as an equal with equal moral rights to them. I fkn [i]love[/i] what Fluttershy is doing here, I [i]love[/i] thinking about the bunnies digesting in that belly while Fluttershy just sweetly cares for the fox and baby-talks it while it hiccups and burps up their air~ <3 O///O\n\nYou just want to rub its 'lil belly and feel them squirming underneath the skin while it makes cute fox eyes at you and grumbles about it~\n\n..I wonder if Angel knows/knew them? :3c\n\nLiking this stuff so much is a pawblem for me, because sometimes it leads to me reading and getting into stories that are almost certainly going to trigger my aversions even though I know it's a bad idea for me to interact with them X3 I have to be very careful about it.
