Childhood Fire description brief: small red about 2 feet long 1 foot high on all 4 no horns or claws yet My story will start with the beginning of his life as it should. Firebrand (Fire for short) never got to know his mother. She died before he was hatched (retrospective look here, his suspicions never confirmed is that his dad lied to him about his mom dieing during a raid by monkeys. He felt it was more likely he murdered her but does not know why. Not that it matters as will be explained soon.). His only sibling was the closest thing he knew to having a mother, his older sister (unnamed do to so young, he can't recall her name :(). His dad will go unnamed as he was only 3 months old when monkeys did attack and kill him in his sleep. His sister and Fire had just finished their first hunting lessons and where turning in for the night when Fire heard a rock go ticking past the ledge they where on. He went to go look before going to bed. When he got there someone grabbed him from above by the body and muzzle to keep him quite. It was a monkey hunting party leader, but he did not know at that time. With silent gestures, the monkeys crept in and silently slew Fire's father in front of him and Fire screamed. This woke his sister, who was surrounded by 7 monkeys already. The leader spoke. “Do not fight us and nether of you will be harmed.” Fire's sister showed she did not care for that and fought for her brother’s freedom, burning 3 of the 7 monkeys before being mercilessly killed. Having just seen both his father and sister killed before his eyes, Fire's heart sank to lower than his stomach and he just went limp in the monkey's arms. He does not remember where they took him to that night, but all that they used to keep him there was a thin piece of worn out rope. After the monkeys where mostly asleep Fire tugged on the rope gently and it gave out. He then looked around and seen he was on a mountain and he seen a forest in the distance. He decided to take his chances in the wilds over what ever the monkeys wanted him for. He made a silent getaway and the monkeys never found him, but he was scared for life by them, never to forget the things monkeys did to him. His trip to the forest went quickly and was uneventful but it exhausted him by the time he got to the forest. He went in and found a small pond and stooped to drink and then rest for a while. He ended up falling asleep. Hours later he awoke to a rustling noise coming from the reeds nearby he moved to a nearby tree to hide while what ever it was came to the clearing. It was a small mouse. Suddenly he realized he had not eaten since the previous day about mid day and he knew he was going to need to teach himself how to catch his food. He crept up to the backside of the mouse while staying in the trees for cover. Always watching the mouse. Thud. “Ow.” The mouse heard Fire and looked directly at him. Fire froze. The mouse not seeing Fire moving seemed curious as to what made the noise. It walked nervously towards Fire's location. It stopped just feet from Fire and looked around. It was frightened and nervous and was showing it. When it turned away to leave Fire lunged at the mouse but missed as the mouse bolted at the noise of Fire moving. '... Drat. There goes breakfast I guess.” The mouse had vanished before he could clear the sand from his eyes. He went to the pond to get a drink and something got his eye. A small tide pool had a small fish trapped in it. 'Well. I guess I got something after all.' He chuckled at his luck. At this point his mind practically went absent letting instinct take complete control for survival. Adolescence 3 years later Fire description brief: red about 8 feet long, 4 feet tall on all 4. Wingspan of 10 feet. Small claw on wing “elbow” about 4 inched long 6 inch spines run down his back from the base of his neck to mid tail a beginning of a frill fan from the base of his neck to the back of his head. 4 horns protrude from his head one on each upper jaw bone and the corners of his skull all facing backwards to his tail which had a sword like end and was harder than diamonds (sharp as crap too. cut himself more than once). Fire now was a descent hunter and hunted anything from mice to lizards to raccoons or opossums. He thought of the forest itself as home. He simply lived his life as he needed to and thought little till one day he happened to see a red dragon with blue markings lying on a path. Curiosity woke up in his mind and for the first time in 3 years, he thought to himself. 'Who is that? What is that? I've never seen one of those in my forest before.' He stayed high in the trees and circled at a distance. He noticed that the creature had been hurt recently across an eye. It started to stir and he thought about going to it but stopped when he heard small creatures coming up the path. They looked like birds from the distance. They obviously already seen it and where heading for it. “Look!” One said. “I told you I seen something here.” “Shh. She's coming too...” said another. The red dragon stirred and then shot up. “AAAAHHHH!!!!” It screamed. At the same time one of the birds cried out with “RAAAAA!” Fire snickered silently. The red one passed out in front of them at that point. The birds carefully picked her up and carried her to their caves nearby. Fire knew of them being there, but never bothered them, nor them him. They brought her before their large one. For some reason, Fire had taken an interest in this young dragon, that he himself did not understand. For the next year, he watched out for her but rarely seen her, and eventually forgot about her. During this time he learned something that really frightened him. His memories flooded back from his capture and families murder. A bitter hatred rose in him and he went to go to get a drink of water from the pond. 'I feel ... odd' Fire thought to himself. He went back to get a drink and before he looked into the pond, realized he did not see his nose anymore. When he went to drink, he saw the image of a monkey staring back up at him. In a panic, he spun around and looked every way, including up, but saw no monkeys. '!' He panicked for a second and tried to fly to a tree only to find he could not feel his wings! He turned to his back and instead of his scalely hide he saw monkeys fur! “WHAT HAPPENED TO ME!?!?!” He cried out. He looked at himself all over and he looked just like a monkey that abducted him all those years ago. 'Not cool. Not cool.' He was flustered over this discovery. ‘Was all this time just a dream? Am I really a monkey?' His thoughts went to the family he lost and of the red dragon he seen in the forest for the 1st time in months. He felt weird like things where shifting inside him. He closed his eyes and waited for the feelings to pass. When he opened his eyes he saw his snout as he always did before this incident. 'What was that?' He wondered to himself. He shook the feeling off for now and went to take his drink now expecting to see a monkey looking back at him. He looked in to the water and seen his own face looking back at him. '? Did I imagine that monkey or am I dreaming? This does not make sense.' He got his drink and started to move to the trees, but only got four steps before collapsing, exhausted from the unexpected transformations. 'Wow I’m beat. I wonder if the monkey face I seen had something to do with this.' Fire lay there by the pond for an hour before trying to move again and was only weakly able to. 'So much for going up in a tree for now.' He thought bitterly. He moved into the trees and found an old log that he hollowed out a year before and hid under it while he slept.
