Back in the days when a public hanging would've drawn a nice crowd, good lenses would've been worth far too much to risk breaking them. If she were a prisoner for any length of time, she probably would've lost them when she was brought out, especially if she was stripped (and not just the only nudist on death row).\n\nThat she got to keep her glasses implies intent or haste. Either the executioner was such a bastard that he wanted the beautiful but doomed vixen to clearly see what was happening up to her very last moments, or she was rushed to the gallows, weighed, stripped, and noosed so quickly that nobody thought to grab her spectacles.\n\nMy guess is in the submission title: public executions draw all sorts of people even on the darkest days, so once in a while one lucky spectator - usually a beautiful girl or a strapping young lad - is picked to entertain the crowd with the sort of earnest pleading and frantic struggling that the hardened criminals might have lacked. There's more than entertainment in mind, of course - the state inherits the estate of all executed individuals, felonious or otherwise. Depending on who's bribing the executioner that week and which families are currently in good with el presidente, it could be a shopkeep or a beggar that ends up swinging... or it might just be the prettiest redhead in sight, if the mortician's feeling lonely.\n\n\n\nThis was done in the first week FA was down as something of an exercise in process tweaking. I tried not to trace any given boundary more than once, abusing the living hell out of layers and Alpha To Selection. The rim lighting is incredibly simple and easy, to the point that doing it well takes a lot of really boring steps. It works here because of the feel I wanted and the simple composure, but I tried it elsewhere and ran into problems with complexity.
