Treaty of Love Summary: This is a bit of a Sonic Forces AU. There’s no war with Eggman. Jackal kind is one of the few that are not integrated in with society, but with new leadership, they decide they want to change that. So, a group of Mobians from the City travel to the Jackal Village in hopes of signing a peace treaty with them. What happens when during that time a certain jackal by the name of Zero takes an odd interest in the genius red wolf by the name of Gadget. Warnings inside. Notes: This was originally a gift for someone. While that person and I aren’t really speaking anymore, I didn’t want to seem like I was taking what I wrote for them back. After all, I wrote this to be a gift for them, so I want them to still be able to read it if they wish to. However, it is unfinished as I only wrote 3 chapters. So on that note, I don’t imagine I will be finishing this story. That could change but I don’t want to make any promises on it. Please read the warnings before reading. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the chapter! Couples: Zero(Infinite)xGadget(Rookie/Red Wolf Avatar), Infidget, Rookinite Warnings: humor, terrible flirting, don’t take this story too seriously, sexual content, sexual themes, cussing, possible sexual intercourse, possible anal sex, possible oral sex, gay relationship, male/male (Still figuring some of these out if I choose to continue) *Gadget POV 3rd person Feet trekked through dirt and sand. The sun was well above the horizon, but not yet in the middle of the sky, meaning it was only morning, as a group of Mobians made their way through the rocky terrain. Over the next hill would lie a forested area; their destination lay there. “Why couldn’t you have landed a little closer?” A red echidna, by the name of Knuckles, groaned as the group continued walking. “Stop complaining,” a black and red hedgehog named Shadow bluntly retorted, “None of us want to be here, so suck it up.” “That’s not very nice,” the blue speedster of the group, who was called Sonic, sighed, “We’re here for diplomatic reasons.” “True,” a young yellow kitsune, who went by the name of Tails, nodded, “And I wouldn’t have been able to land any closer because of the terrain here. It’s too rocky around the forested area they live in, and the trees in the forest are too tightly knit. There’s no way I would’ve been able to park the Tornado there.” “Ugh, fine.” “Don’t worry Knuckles,” the last of the group to speak, and usually the quietest one; a red wolf in glasses holding a device in his hands that gave directions named Gadget, continued, “According to this, we’re almost there. Going down this hill will get us to the entrance of the forest, and they should be there waiting for us.” “Good, I’m sick of walking in this heat. Angel Island is much cooler.” “I can’t believe you entrusted the island to Rouge.” “Shut up Sonic. I already regret doing it and I haven’t even been away for a full day yet.” “You do realize that the forest will feel worse than out here because of the humidity. And it’s only morning, meaning it’ll only get warmer as the day goes,” Shadow responded with a smirk, getting an answering glare from the hotheaded echidna. It was hard not to laugh at the antics of the three, but the genius wolf kept himself composed as he continued to listen to them as they traveled. A poke was then felt in his arm. Gold eyes glanced to his side to see Tails holding a mix of amusement, along with an apologetic expression. “Sorry about them.” “Why? It makes the trip more interesting.” Giving a sigh of relief along with a light chuckle, the fox replied, “Good. I was hoping they wouldn’t scare you off.” “It’d take a lot more than that to scare me away. Trust me, my sister is way worse than them.” “You haven’t been around them long enough to judge though.” Tails pointed out, “This is your first time with all of us after all.” “True.” “Thank you for coming, by the way.” “No problem,” the canine grinned. “But why me? You guys have plenty of friends that you’re all closer with right?” “We do have a lot of friends, I agree,” the young Mobian sighed, “I have to help keep track of everyone because Sonic forgets sometimes.” Holding a hand to his mouth, Gadget tried his level best not to snort, and luckily, succeeded. However, Tails saw and held a humored glint in his eye, but said nothing on the matter as he continued to explain. “Amy wanted to come, but, well, we had a few reasons for not having her tag along.” “Amy...is the pink hedgehog right? Is she Sonic’s girlfriend?” “Ugh no,” Tails shook his head, “And don’t ever say that to Sonic or ask. He’ll get mad. He might seem like he doesn’t care, but it bothers him a lot that people assume he’s dating Amy.” “Oh…” Looking ahead, Sonic, Knuckles, and Shadow led the group while Tails and Gadget followed behind. Sonic and Shadow seemed to still be teamed up while teasing Knuckles. At one point, Sonic lightly elbowed Shadow in the arm while holding a grin. The ebony hedgehog gave a glare in return, but the expression looked halfhearted. They all really were close, even if they’d probably never admit to it. “I actually requested that you join us.” The kitsune’s voice disrupted the canine’s thoughts as he focused his attention back on young scientist. “Really?” “Mhm. We worked well together with the Chaotix Team. It was easy to speak with you and you helped me a lot during that case.” His blue eyes trained ahead, “Those three are strong and courageous, but not always the brightest.” Well, that wasn’t what Gadget was expecting to hear. “The government wanted Sonic to come since he’s the hero of the world and this peace treaty and negotiations we’re hoping to pass is a huge deal. Shadow is from the government and he’s here as their stand-in. Knuckles is a protector of The Master Emerald and plays a huge role in keeping things in balance. The government saw Knuckles’ role as an asset and hoped to promote the message that we mean well if we sent someone important like Knuckles to come speak with them. That’s why those three were chosen for this mission. I came because of my intelligence along with working with both Sonic and sometimes the government.” The fox once more glanced at Gadget, “The government wanted a five member team. Knowing this, I requested you because you are calm and collected along with being a genius. I feel you would be able to help balance this team in a way the others wouldn’t.” “Ah, I see,” the crimson canine nodded in understanding, “I’m glad to be here. Really. This is a huge opportunity that can change history. What prompted them to even reach out to us? I know the government has been trying for years to make a peace treaty with the jackals.” “New leadership. Apparently the last leader over all of the jackal packs was older and set in his ways. He passed away and the new leader wanted to change things. He’s the one that requested this. Hopefully this will help preserve the jackal species.” “Right, over half of the jackals at least had been wiped out in that war fifty years ago.” “They were almost completely extinct from it. It’s crazy how much the jackals and hyenas hate each other; even to the point of almost eradicating one another.” It’s true there has been a long line of hate between hyenas and jackals for as long as history could tell. After the war between them fifty years ago, both species were considered endangered and the government wanted to step in and help. Both had pride issues and refused. Now though, for the first time ever in history, the jackals decided to try talking and creating a treaty of peace and unity not just with the government but possibly become a part of society. Currently, there are certain species that are not under the rest of society and live separately. This talk today would hopefully change that for the jackal race. The five continued down the hill until finally reaching the bottom and were now approaching the opening into the forest. It didn’t take long to arrive, and a company of jackals were awaiting their presence. Waking up to them, Sonic gave the first greeting. “Hi. I’m Sonic. We came from Metropolis on the request of the treaty.” Looking, the wolf observed the three jackals that stood before them. One of them was wearing a green band around his forehead. The second wore a red hat and held a notepad and pen; Gadget assumed he was the note taker for them. Finally, there was a jackal with heterochromia eyes where one was blue and the other yellow with a white scar over the blue eye. That was a fascinating trait as most jackals usually had yellow, and sometimes even brown, eyes. Despite his curiosity, the wolf ignored it as he tapped a few settings on his tablet so he could take notes as well. That was one of his main jobs while there after all. “Welcome,” The jackal with different colored eyes greeted before offering Sonic a handshake, which was respectfully returned, “We are here to guide you to the village so the discussions of our futures can take place.” He gestured to the jackal in the green headband, “This is Ben. He is here as a bodyguard. There are wild animals in the forest to be careful of after all.” Somehow, though that information was probably true, Gadget was positive that wasn’t the only reason for a so called ‘bodyguard’. Regardless, he supposed the group he came here with had good fighters too; in case things didn’t go well. The jackal speaking then gestured to the one in the hat. “This is Gervais. He’s our intelligence officer of the village. If you have any questions, you should speak with him.” The jackal that introduced the others then put a hand on his own chest, “And my name is Zero. I will be your guide and take you there.” “It’s nice to meet you Zero,” Sonic grinned, “And this is my group. There’s five of us. I hope that’s alright.” “Of course. I am not surprised considering our leader has his four allies, which makes five. It only makes sense to match.” ‘Oh, so that’s why.’ Gadget mused to himself as Sonic began to introduce everyone. “These two here, Shadow the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna, are kind of the bodyguards of our group. Shadow is also the government representative. The young fox is Tails and the wolf is Gadget. They are both our intelligence officers. Gadget will also be our note taker, so if there’s anything specifically you want noted, he’s the one to talk with. Tails and Gadget both are good to ask any other questions to if you have them.” Zero studied the team as they were introduced before his eyes fell on Gadget when his name came up; and then they stayed on him while Sonic explained what Tails’ and Gadget’s roles were. Those heterochromia orbs stared deeply into amber ones, making the wolf swallow slightly in nervousness; not really sure why he looked at him so intensely, or for so long. Zero spoke, “Duly noted,” before finally taking his eyes off of him, and Gadget couldn’t help his small sigh of relief. Maybe he was overthinking it, he didn’t know. The jackal had looked at them all when they were introduced, which was perfectly normal. But somehow, it didn’t feel normal. Shrugging it off, Gadget focused his attention on the current conversation. “It will take some time to get there,” Gervais explained. “So if you need a break at any point along the way, don’t hesitate to say so.” “We should get there in the afternoon,” Zero added, “Lunch will be prepared when we arrive. Afterwards, the discussions can begin.” “Sounds good!” Sonic replied enthusiastically, “Lead the way.” “Let’s get going then,” Zero nodded before everyone, including Gadget, followed the jackals into the forest.
