Gadget POV 3rd person Option 1 Complete. Option 1 success rate, 98%. That weird voice again. “Who’s there?” Option 2 in preparation. Will start in the next cycle. “What?” And then there was light. …. …….. Gadget opened his eyes. His room with the Resistance. Another dream? It felt so real again. What was going on? It was like, what happened in his life, but just different changes such as Zero never leaving. Even though it wasn’t real, in his heart, he wished to go back. His mind felt puzzled and empty, as he mentally tried to catch up with reality. It was getting a bit difficult to differentiate between what’s real and what isn’t based on those dreams. Though, he felt like he was forgetting something. Something really important… A few pounds rung on his door. Groaning as he was still waking up, he slipped on his glasses and waddled his way over to the door before opening it. “Commander?” “Mornin’ Rookie,” he glanced at him briefly in thought, “Were you sleeping?” *Yawn* “I just woke up.” “Wow, you must be a heavier sleeper than I thought,” Knuckles whistled while earning himself a raised brow, “Sonic came by a few times. He thought you were pissed at him and ignoring him or something.” ? “Why would I be angry at him?” “That’s what I said!” Knuckles exasperated, “Hey, he’s in the break room. How about you go say hi and make him feel better? Oh, and, get yourself a cup of coffee. You look like shit.” “...Thanks.” The echidna left the wolf to his own devices. The door was shut and Gadget looked in the mirror to see, in fact, he did look like shit. Clumps of fur stood in various directions, a bit of paleness resided on his muzzle, and dark circles under his eyes. He looked like a zombie that hadn’t eaten for days… that was morbid. After taking several minutes to straighten his hair out. He deemed himself good enough as he couldn’t do anything about the dark circles or being pale, and left the bedroom before quickly taking a right down the first hall to find the break room. Sonic was the only one there, and sat at one of the tables with a cup of coffee filled with creamer and sugar. It had to be quite a bit considering how light colored the coffee now was. “How much creamer did you put in there?” Jumping in surprise, Sonic looked wide-eyed at the Rookie who held a humored glint in his gaze, “Gadget?” “Morning,” he greeted before letting out a yawn. He still felt like he was forgetting something, but didn’t think much of it as he took a seat beside the hero. “Sorry about earlier.” “Huh?” “Knuckles told me you came by my room. I must have been in a deep sleep because I had no idea.” “Heh,” Sonic gave a light chuckle while instantly brightening up, “Good, I thought maybe you were angry with me.” Again, Gadget felt confused, “Why would I be mad at you?” Another yawn left him. Laughing once more, the hedgehog offered, “How about I make you a cup of coffee? You seem tired.” His expression turned more serious as a thumb lifted to right below one of the wolf’s eyes, slightly under the lenses. Feeling puzzled by the touch, it felt, familiar? “You have really dark bags under your eyes. Did you not sleep well last night?” Why was this touch making him feel dejavu? Somehow, though Sonic’s thumb stayed and gently brushed his cheek bone; his hand ended up cupping Gadget’s cheek, and he unconsciously leaned into the touch. “I’m not sure if I didn’t sleep well or not, but I’ve been dreaming a lot lately.” “That can do it sometimes,” Sonic mused, “What’d you dream about?” “My childhood.” Gadget didn’t want to chance telling more in case the stupid mark on his neck decided to electrocute him or do something painful. “Ah, I see. Was it a nice dream?” A sweet smile graced the Rookie’s lips as he answered, “Yeah, it was.” Returning the smile, warmth left Gadget’s cheek as Sonic removed his hand and stood. “How do you like your coffee?” “Um,” he glanced at the cup already on the table, “Could you make it like yours? I’m not a huge fan of straight black coffee.” “Yep! Coming right up!” Now standing in front of the coffee pot, Gadget watched him pour a cup delicately. His hands were precise, one foot tapped gently on the floor as if having a beat stuck in his mind, and his posture was straight, yet somehow also relaxed as he grabbed the creamer and began to pour. His lips were upturned in confidence. Wait, was he checking Sonic out? What the crap?! Yellow eyes faced forward as his cheeks turned red. What was he doing? Glancing again briefly, he saw Sonic’s lips. Lips? Why did that seem… As if a switch being flipped, everything from last night came flooding back to him in an instant. The kisses, the touches, the soft spoken words. Oh geez! What the hell did he do?! Though clearly having feelings for Zero, he very willingly made out with Sonic? What the hell was wrong with him!? “Gadget?” Flinching, he turned his head to look at the hero, not realizing he was by his side or that he finished making the coffee until setting the cup on the table in front of him. “You’re zoning out there buddy.” “Oh!” His cheeks flushed in embarrassment, “S-sorry.” “No worries,” Sonic rubbed his head briefly before taking a seat by Gadget. Trying not to think about it, he took a sip of the freshly made drink, and sighed out in bliss as he felt the warmth and caffeine travel through him. “Is it good?” Sonic inquired while holding a humored expression. Nodding enthusiastically, he replied, “It really is. Thank you Sonic.” Emerald orbs stared at the wolf, eyes half lidded. Gadget wondered what was on the other’s mind. He didn’t have to wait long as lips covered his. Before Gadget had any time to process, the kiss was over as quickly as it started. Pink tinted Sonic’s muzzle, which in turn had the same effect on Gadget. “Can we talk?” Sonic brought up, “I’d hoped to more last night, but, well…” Gadget knew he was referring to the makeout they had. Still, he had a point. They needed to talk about this and be on the same page. “That’d be nice. I’d like that.” “Great. Go ahead and enjoy your coffee first though,” scratching his cheek, his muzzle lit up as he responded, “I made it for you so I want to make sure you’re not rushed to finish it or anything so you can enjoy it.” His own face darkening, he nodded as he took another sip. It really was good. Black coffee mixed with some sugar but mostly vanilla creamer. He usually had more hazelnut with his coffee, but liked vanilla too. Maybe since Sonic made it, it tasted better, because he cared about him, and vice versa, and made it just for him? He did care for Sonic. That wasn’t a lie. Sonic was like a mentor to Gadget, and he really looked up to the hedgehog; showing signs of bravery, confidence, and never holding fear in the face of danger. Even while locked away in Eggman’s prison, he still came back hardly phased. Granted, Gadget was pretty sure Sonic was not being completely open, as he usually never showed anyone his pain. Last night was the first time Gadget felt he saw a real, or deeper side, of Sonic. And, he liked it. His eyes had been trained on the coffee in front of him, but then lifted them to look at the blue blur, who had been staring at him at that moment in time. Getting caught caused his cheeks to turn pink before he hastily glanced away. Cute. Gadget couldn’t help the adorable giggle that came out. “Do you want to talk in my room, or yours?” Gadget asked, “I figured it might be better than here in the break room.” “True. How about your room? You look tired and it’s still early enough. Maybe you can get some rest when we’re done talking.” “Okay, sounds good.” Gadget stood up from his chair. “Want to go now?” “Sure, but what about your coffee? You still have some.” “I’m taking it with me,” he grinned widely, “It’s too good to waste.” Smiling to himself, Sonic grabbed his own unfinished drink and followed the Rookie out and to his room. Due to the battle yesterday, not many people were out and about, so they had no interruptions as they walked into the wolf’s personal quarters once more. The door was shut and Gadget urged the other to sit in the only chair in the room, which was by the desk and near the bed. Gadget sat on the mattress and used a corner of the desk to hold his mug; Sonic also setting his cup near the other’s. The two sat and faced each other, though seeming unsure of where to start. Clearing his throat, Sonic spoke first, “I want to apologize if anything I did last night made you uncomfortable in any way.” Shaking his head, Gadget disagreed, “You didn’t do anything wrong. And, I did initiate some of it myself too.” “I mean, I hadn’t actually meant to go that far,” Sonic clarified, “I know you’re still getting over someone, and the last thing I ever want to make you feel is that I’m taking advantage of that or you.” He paused, thinking of his next words. “I genuinely care for you, a lot.” “Um… How did you even come to like me? I mean, I’m not exactly the most talkative person out there, and I’ve been known for being pretty nerdy.” “I admit that there’s a lot I don’t know about you,” Sonic confessed, “And, to be honest, when I first saw you when you came to rescue me; your innocent but determined stance, your honesty and kindness, I just, fell. Also, I have to admit that you’re very attractive and I thought you were really cute when we met, and still do. That’s not the reason I like you so much, but along with really liking you, I’m also extremely attracted to you. “You didn’t say much, but your body language and expressions really helped me to know what you were thinking. You always try to do the right thing, and try your hardest at everything you do. Even when it’s scary, you stand up to your fears, even when it’s hard. I just, like you as a person, and I would love to get to know you better.” That unexpected confession had Gadget floored as his jaw dropped open. Seeing his face, the hedgehog just snorted. “Your face is priceless.” “I-I,” He stammered, making the other male crack up even more, “I’m just so, shocked. Sorry! I didn’t mean…” “I know that’s a lot to take in,” Sonic cut-in, “I would probably be in the same boat if it was the other way around.” “Huh? Don’t you have fans or anyone telling you they like you all the time?” “I mean, yeah, but it’s one thing when someone says they like you as a friend or are a huge fan of yours. It’s different when someone holds strong romantic feelings for someone else, which, I mean I get it from Amy constantly, but others, not so much.” “Oh, I see…” Gadget hummed in thought. “For me, as you know, there’s someone I like, and I’ve liked him for a long time.” A slight itch formed on his neck, as if warning him to be careful of his next words. “I met him when I was at the orphanage.” “Orphanage?” “My parents died in a car accident. They didn’t survive, but I did.” Hesitating, Gadget went up to his glasses and paused. Not many Mobians knew of his scar after these glasses were created, and he kept his distance most times so no one would find out. “Gadget?” Sighing out, he slowly removed his lenses, showing the hero his scar. He couldn’t see the other’s face well since his glasses were off, and he hadn’t said anything either. Then, Sonic stood from his seat. Wait, was he leaving? Gadget felt a dip in the bed next to him. Seeing Sonic a bit more clearly now that they sat side by side was a bit unexpected, as he thought he was leaving at first, but his sight was still blurry. Sonic moved towards him, and Gadget closed his eyes in fear, not sure what was happening. Lips tenderly touched one of the closed eyes; the scarred one. When the touch dissipated, he hesitantly opened them to see Sonic still close to his face. “If you think a scar is going to scare me off, you’re wrong.” “It...it doesn’t bother you? Or disgust you?” “Nope! Sure doesn’t!” As if to prove a point, he pecked at the side of the scar, more on his cheek, this time. “S-Sonic…” Gadget stammered out, not meaning to do so. He felt another feathery kiss placed on his cheek, and then another, much more sluggish this time. “Tell me more.” “Uh, um…” one landed on the corner of his mouth, but then continued down to his jawline. “After getting adopted, I didn’t see him again for years… Ah!” Teeth nibbled along his jawbone, drawing out a moan. Nipping down to then his neck. Breath warmed his skin and fur as Sonic’s voice vibrated into his throat, “More.” “Ah-h, my family was really nice. I had t-two siblings who were adopted just like me. As for him…” *groan* It was getting hard to focus. Gadget weaved his hands into Sonic’s quills and drew him closer to his neck, pulling the hedgehog in top of him as they fell back into the mattress. He drew another groan out blissfully, enjoying the attention his neck, and now collarbone, was receiving. It felt so good, like a high he never wanted to come down from. “Tell me more,” Sonic paused his actions as he looked down at the wolf below him, arousal clear in his tone, but also, desperation? Desperation to know? “When I saw him again years later, he changed. He used to be so nice, but he’s anything but that now. He could care less about the well being of others, and it just broke my heart. We’re in two different places in life now, and I just… He’s just…” Tears stained his face while some fell to the bed sheets. Apologetically, Sonic removed a few with his thumb. “I’m sorry.” “You have no reason to be,” Gadget replied. “And, it was so strange, but when you kissed me last night, and today too, I mean, before, I felt this empty void in my heart, but, when you’re here, it just disappears. Well, I think it was always like that, but I just never noticed, not until you kissed me for the first time. It’s like, the sun shining on beautiful trees in a forest, making the leaves green and thriving, and providing warmth. You’ve been a sun, warming up my life, from the moment we met.” Lips sought the wolf’s hastily. Like last night, Gadget wrapped his arms around the speedster’s neck, and probed his tongue against Sonic’s lips, begging for entrance, which he was eagerly allowed. Their tongues swirled and danced; both moaning sensually. Pulling away abruptly, Sonic panted out, “If I keep going like this, I’m going to end up fucking you, and I don’t think you’re ready for that yet.” Embarrassed, Gadget covered his face in his hands, making Sonic laugh out loud before he flopped down beside the shy wolf. Arms wrapped around the red Mobian’s waist and snuggled into him. “It’s okay. I won’t do it. Not now anyway.” Face completely red, Gadget turned his head to look at him, “S-Shut up!” “Hahaha! Okay, okay,” he kissed his cheek, “I’ll stop teasing you.” “...You’re ridiculous.” “I know,” Sonic grinned proudly, before making himself clear, “I know you still have feelings for someone else, so I don’t want to push you to do anything you don’t want to. Sorry about all the kissing. That probably isn’t the best action right now considering your feelings. I’ll control myself better from now on. I do really care about you.” “Sonic…” About to change the subject, Sonic then noticed Gadget yawn. “How about you get some sleep? You’re yawning and look tired.” “Hm, okay. I blame you for my exhaustion.” Smirking, Sonic spoke, “Alright, then let me make it up to you and stay here while you rest.” Gadget looked at him with a deadpan expression, “You better not do anything.” “Thanks for the vote of confidence there buddy.” “Hahaha! Good night, or morning, Sonic.” “Heh, sleep well Gadget.” He quickly went to sleep in the hedgehog’s arms. While asleep, Sonic made sure to put the other’s glasses neatly on the desk beside them. Pure joy filled the hedgehog as he snuggled into the red fur and began to fall into slumber as well.
