*Gadget POV 3rd person

Feeling stiff in the neck, he slowly recalled falling asleep sitting upright as he began to wake up. A quiet yawn left him as he took in the living room. “Good morning.”

In an instant, the jackal flashed from his seat to leaning over the sitting crimson Mobian; whose eyes grew in size from the sudden change.

“Zero? What’s wrong?”

“I’ve been thinking…” he whispered as he settled near one of Gadget’s ears; air ghosting over as he continued to speak softly, “Those Resistance members will never give up coming after you. Especially Sonic the Hedgehog.”

Huh? A nervous lump formed in the Rookie’s throat.

“I battled him today. He mentioned caring for you. I’m not completely sure what context he meant that in, but regardless of how he meant it, I refuse to let anyone snatch you away from me.”

“W-What are you…?”

Panic coursed through Gadget as dejavu to the warehouse appeared in the forefront of his mind, and he struggled against the restraints.

“Zero! Let me out of this chair! NOW!”

“No.”

Lips silenced him before hands hastily explored the red torso. A surprised gasp came from Gadget at both the words spoken to him, and the sudden kiss and touch.
