Sluggish, it took him a few minutes to realize he was in the hotel room with Zero, and not remembering at all what he had been dreaming about. The alarm clock by the side of the bed read 2:37am. Stomach growling, he assumed it was from not eating dinner and going to bed early.\n\nBecoming suddenly aware of the warmth by his side, Gadget turned his head to see arms wrapped around him and Zero sleeping soundlessly. The jackal’s face was near his and he blushed, but felt cozy in the other’s embrace as happiness bubbled in his chest.\n\nWithout thinking, he scooted closer to the slumbering male and tenderly kissed his lips. He noticed immediately that the kiss was returned, causing Gadget’s eyelids to flutter shut. \n\nThey both backed away. A smug grin was on Zero’s muzzle, “Morning sleeping beauty. And here you were worried [i]I[/i] would do something to you in your sleep.”\n\n“Oh shush!” Gadget pushed him playfully.\n\n“Nope, don’t think so,” fingers ran along the wolf’s sides, and he started to giggle.\n\n“S-stop it! That tickles!”\n\n“Maybe if you say ‘I surrender’, I might consider it.”\n\n“You j-jerk.”\n\n“You love it.”\n\nThe tickling continued, but not for long as Gadget swiftly pulled the other close and slanted his lips against the jackal’s. The tickles instantly ceasing as Zero wrapped his arms around Gadget’s waist.\n\nPulling away, Gadget replied, “I do love it. I love [i]you[/i].”\n\nWhite cheeks turned pink for a moment in surprise from hearing those words before shifting closer than before. \n\n“I love you too Gadget.”\n\nFingers traveled along a red furred back, not to tickle this time, but explore. \n\n“Gadget, can I touch you? Make you feel good? It doesn’t have to be sex. I just, missed you. I want to love on you again, but I don’t want to push you if you’re not comfortable.”\n\nCupping one of the jackal’s cheeks, the wolf answered, “You don’t have to be afraid to touch me. Granted, I don’t think I’m ready for full on sex yet, but you can hug me, kiss me, anything. Can I ask a question before you do?”\n\n“Of course love.”\n\n“What are we exactly?”\n\nA dark ear twitched in question, “What do you mean?”\n\n“I know when we were younger, we said we were best friends, and loved each other. I guess, if others ask us what we are, what do we tell them? If I say you’re my friend, it doesn’t mean anything from having another friend, but I feel differently than just a ‘normal friend’ towards you.”\n\n“As do I,” Zero replied before picking up one of the other’s hands and lips brushing the palm, “I never officially asked you when we were younger because I don’t think I gave it much thought and I wasn’t too worried about it since we were on the same page. I would definitely say you’re my lover if anyone asked me.” Gadget’s face flushed, but it was missed in the dark room. “But, I want to formally ask you.”\n\n“Huh?”\n\nBoth of the wolf’s hands were taken as Zero held them in his; intertwining their fingers. “Gadget, would you do me the honor, of becoming my boyfriend, and lover?”\n\nA sharp breath was taken in from surprise. Tears stung his eyes as overwhelming joy gripped his heart and he hastily embraced him. “Yes! Yes Zero! Always!”\n\nThey kissed. Lips locked as they snaked their limbs around one another; arms across the backs and waists, while legs became tangled. Pulling them all the closer to each other, they couldn’t possibly feel a higher form of happiness.\n\nFangs bit softly at the ruby canine’s lips, asking for entrance before his tongue was allowed in; exploring every inch and cavity of the oral crevice. A shallow moan escaped into the jackal’s mouth, causing them to break for breath.\n\nCautiously, Zero adjusted to now lean over the other male, making him lie on his back, before showering kisses and nibbles along his neck. \n\n“Z-Zero…” Gadget breathed out huskily while weaving his fingers through white locks, “Feels good.”\n\n“Mmmm,” was hummed out in response, “Don’t worry. I’m going to make you feel better. I’ll take good care of you.”\n\n“I trust you Zero.”\n\nAnd as if to prove it, he was quickly becoming hard; a bulge clearly visible as the attention on the wolf’s neck continued. It wasn’t missed by those heterochromia eyes as his lips leisurely traveled further down his neck to his chest. While brushing his mouth against the wolf below him, one hand moved down lower and touched at the sensitive skin covering.\n\nFlinching, Gadget unconsciously grinded into the wondering digits while a deep groan escaped him. \n\n“A-Ah!”\n\n“Is this alright? I can stop if you don’t want me to touch you there.”\n\n“No. D-don’t stop…I like it.”\n\nThe fingers continued their teasing there, making the crimson canine shiver in pleasure.\n\n“Let it out for me then.”\n\n“Zero, I…mmmmmm….”\n\nThe touching there felt amazing. He couldn’t keep it in, he never could. Everything felt so right, and he loved Zero so much. He let himself free.\n\nFingers instantly grabbed ahold of the shaft and tenderly rubbed along it.\n\n“Ze-ro! Aaa-hhh!”\n\n“Feel good?” Zero practically asked with a smirk on his lips as his hand moved faster.\n\n“Yeeeessss.” Gadget lustfully answered as the pressure began to build.\n\n“Good,” his thumb played with the head, “I wanna do this to you all the time. I love you so much.”\n\nThe grip tightened slightly before putting more speed into pumping the length, making the wolf’s breath hitch. Fingers danced as he worked to pleasure the one he loves so much that laid below him. Pants left those irresistible plump lips, cheeks tinted red which he was able to see despite the dark room, and sweat formed along Gadget’s brow that made him all that more appealing to observe as digits continued to fly along his shaft.\n\n“You have no idea how much I love you. Don’t be shy. Don’t hold anything back.”\n\n*huff, huff*\n\n“You’re so sexy, my dear Gadget.”\n\n“Mmm, Ah! Z-Zero!”\n\n[i]“Come for me Gadget.”[/i]\n\nWith that spoken command, Gadget couldn’t stop himself as white sputtered everywhere; all along Zero’s hand and on their lower bodies. Pants left him.\n\n“Zero… that was, amazing.”\n\nHis cheek was kissed, “I’m glad.”\n\nA wave of exhaustion quickly hit the wolf. “I’m sleepy.”\n\nKissing him again, the jackal replied, “Get some rest love.”\n\n“....Okay.”\n\n……..\n\n……….\n\n[i]Option 2 Continue[/i] \n\n*Zero POV 3rd person \n\nMorning came as the jackal woke up and stretched. Slipping out of bed carefully as not to awaken the slumbering wolf, he strolled to the other side of the bed to give the other male a sweet kiss to his temple before going to rinse off the dried up cum from a few hours beforehand.\n\nWhen finished, he wrote a small note telling Gadget he’d be downstairs having breakfast, as neither had dinner last night, and Zero was starting to feel the effects of it. After the note was left on the side table by the bed, he quietly left and headed down to the breakfast area on the main floor.\n\nOnce there, he went to nabbing some fruit and yogurt from the breakfast bar along with a mug of coffee, and then walked towards the seating area. Loud talking and laughter was heard and Zero sighed as he knew exactly who it was. Heading towards the source, it appeared his guess was correct. \n\nThe group of jackals noticed Zero before he joined them.\n\n“Ey! Morning boss!” Kevin greeted as Zero took a seat.\n\n“Hey boss!” Ben chimed in, “Where’s your plaything?”\n\n“Don’t call him that.” Zero stabbed at a piece of fruit before shoving it in his mouth.\n\nGervais inquired, “How did you two even meet?”\n\n“And why’d you flirt with him?!” Ben half exasperated, “I’ve tried for years to find someone so you could get laid, since you’re so hard nosed, and you turned down every option I gave you, even the men.”\n\n“It’s not about being gay.” Zero answered with a glare.\n\n“Then what is it about?” The female of the group, Kia, finally spoke up, “You’ve never cared to get close to anyone. Granted, it’s not like we witnessed PDA between you and that wolf, Gadget right? But, you’ve clearly got a soft spot for him. You can’t blame us for being a bit curious.”\n\nSighing softly, Zero put his fork down as he looked among his squad. These jackals, they followed him for three years. They had the freedom to do otherwise, but here they stay, stupidly loyal to him. He could honestly call them friends, but after what happened back when he thought Gadget died, he feared getting too close to any jackal, or anyone for that matter. But, they’ve been through hell and back these three years just to get to where they are now; financially stable and actually enjoying a nice vacation. There were many occasions where they all worked hard together and saved each other’s lives.\n\n“I never told you all how I got imprisoned in the jackal camp.”\n\n“What?” Ben questioned, “Are you finally gonna tell us what you did that pissed the jackals off so much?”\n\n“This Gadget has something to do with it?” Kia questioned with a raised brow.\n\n“He didn’t do anything. It was all me,” Zero confessed, “During the year where we have to survive on our own, I was given a seaside town, the town we’re in today. There’s no caves, no forests, nowhere to really stay in from the cold, not even much for abandoned buildings except a warehouse by the docks. Gadget was an orphan at the time. He’d been walking around town and found me freezing in an alleyway. He took me in and let me stay with him. He...saved my life.”\n\n“Why is that a bad thing?” Kevin piped up, “They told us we have to try to survive at any cost.”\n\n“It might not have necessarily been bad, but there’s more to it than that,” Zero took a sip of his black coffee, “We became friends. I’d never met someone like him before.”\n\n“Innocent and nice?” Kia guessed.\n\n“Yeah,” the boss smiled, “He just, never worried about himself, but rather about me. I’ve never experienced anything like that before.”\n\nGervais inquired, “Then what happened?”\n\n“Well, I stayed with him from the winter to the springtime. We became closer, best friends, but I felt more than that.”\n\n“You loved him?” The female filled in.\n\n“[i]Love[/i] him. I still very much do.”\n\n“Aww!” Ben grinned, “No wonder you never wanted to get laid.”\n\n“Would you shut up about that?” Gervais cut-in.\n\n“He felt the same, so we had a closer than friendship type of relationship. We hadn’t put a label on it at the time, partly because I don’t think either one of us worried about it too much. However, during the summer, we were still together, and Jastar found out.”\n\n“Oh no…” Ben mumbled, already guessing what was coming.\n\n“In the fall, he took me away and to the jackal pack. A month later, Jastar brought me back here, and made me watch as he burned the orphanage Gadget stayed at to the ground.”\n\nThe group was completely silent, not expecting what had been told. “Then what happened?”\n\n“I thought he killed Gadget. I was so infuriated and heartbroken, that I stole the guard’s sword and stabbed them both.”\n\n“Dude…” Kevin went wide eyed.\n\n“That’s why I never wanted to tell anyone.”\n\n“I don’t care about that,” Kia remarked, “Jastar was an asshole. How’d Gadget get out?”\n\n“Apparently, two days after I got taken back to the pack, he was adopted. So, he’d been gone for about a month when it happened.”\n\n“Talk about lucky.”\n\nThe boss nodded, “I know.”\n\n“I’m glad he’s okay,” Ben said earnestly, “Does he know…?”\n\n“No and he doesn’t need to either.”\n\nNo words were spoken. That was probably the quietest they’d been since arriving to that town. Zero mentally kicked himself for telling them everything, but then again, they didn’t seem to mind at all; more glad he finally confessed as the others already spilled their guts over the years about what they did to get into jackal prison. Zero’s act was by far the worst out of them.\n\n“So…” Kia drew out, “You gonna tell the details of last night or what?”\n\n“Seriously?! After what I just told you, [i]that’s[/i] your concern?”\n\n“What? I’m just curious,” Kia snorted while Kevin stuck his tongue out in disgust.\n\n“I personally don’t wanna know bout y’all’s sex lives.”\n\n“Your accent is showing again,” Gervais pointed out.\n\n“Quit makin’ fun a my accent!”\n\n“That’s what happens when you come from another pack dumbass.”\n\nThe jackal leader facepalmed as he watched his team banter on as usual. He literally not only admitted to murder, but murdering two jackals at that. Granted, everyone thought Jastar was an asshole and no one liked him, but still…\n\n“You’re all so lively this morning.” All heads turned immediately to see a red wolf standing there while rubbing the sleep out of one of his eyes. “Good morning everyone.”\n\nStanding from his chair, Zero spoke, “Sit here. I’ll grab another.”\n\n“You sure?”\n\nShoulders were gripped as Gadget fell into the seat. Yes, apparently he was very sure. The boss grabbed a chair from a different table and scooted it by the sleepy wolf.\n\nBen smirked, “Soooo, how was your night last night?”\n\n“Damn it Ben!”\n\n“We watched a movie.”\n\n“That’s it?” Kia asked in disbelief.\n\n“I fell asleep in the first five minutes of it.”\n\nKevin snickered, “Wow, sucks for you Zero.”\n\n“Shut up Kevin.”\n\n“What sucks?” Gadget yawned, “I should probably get some coffee…”\n\n“What sucks is that there was no *bow chicka bow wow*” Ben smuggly grinned while making hand gestures.\n\n“Ugh,” Kia rolled her eyes, “Really bro?”\n\nZero rubbed his temple to fight off a forming headache as Gadget stared off into space as he tried to wake up, not realizing what Ben had meant, and missed what he did.\n\n“I’m going to get some coffee,” Gadget told Zero.\n\n“Want some of mine?”\n\nAll that was seen was a dark abyss with nothing whatsoever else in the cup.\n\n“Straight black coffee? Uh, no thanks.”\n\nGadget stood and went towards the breakfast bar to grab himself some coffee, not realizing Zero watched him the whole time he left his seat.\n\n“Dude,” catching Zero’s attention was Ben, “Stop being so obvious about checking him out.”\n\n“He’s my boyfriend. If I want to check him out, I can.”\n\n“Oh, so the title is official?” the female jackal inquired.\n\n“As of last night, yes.”\n\nBen eyed him suspiciously, “Are you sure you two didn’t have sex?” \n\n“Whether we did or not is none of your damn business.”\n\nJust then, the wolf walked back to the table carrying a mug with about twenty percent coffee and eighty percent vanilla creamer. As he took a seat, Zero looked at the drink in disdain, “How much shit did you put in there?”\n\n“As much as necessary so I don’t taste the coffee.”\n\n“What’s the point then?”\n\n“I get the same amount of caffeine only it tastes better.”\n\nBen snickered at the two before cutting in, “Hey, wanna know what Zero did when you left?”\n\n“Hm? What?”\n\n“Shut it Ben.”\n\n“He was checking out your butt.”\n\nGadget’s face instantly flared up while Zero’s fist slammed on the table. “For fuck’s sake Ben!”\n\n“You didn’t deny it,” Gervais pointed out while taking a sip of his also straight black coffee.\n\n“I hate you all sometimes.”\n\n“We know you think otherwise,” Kia laughed.\n\nThe six continued to chat for another half hour before Zero couldn’t stand the teasing anymore and Gadget’s face continued to flush the entire time from it. So, the duo finally left and went up to their room. Being away from them was nice as the two just relaxed on the bed for awhile and watched television. They snuggled and enjoyed old fashioned cartoons.\n\n“Hey?”\n\n“Yeah Zero?”\n\n“You’re only staying in West Sea Town for another day or two, right?”\n\n“Yeah, I didn’t bring much cash with me. I have more money, but it’s all in my savings and checking accounts, and I don’t have any debit cards yet. My parents wanted me to wait until I was seventeen before getting my first debit card.”\n\n“How come?”\n\n“Because they felt if I only had oh so much cash on me verses having access to my whole account all the time, I wouldn't spend as much money. I’ve had my accounts since I was fifteen. It was good as it’s taught me to budget what I have on me pretty well, especially since getting a car.”\n\n“Ah, I see,” Zero nodded, “I just wondered what it would look like after this.”\n\n“You mean after this trip?”\n\n“Yes.”\n\n“Hm…” the wolf thought for a moment, “Do you have a cell phone?”\n\n“Of course.”\n\nDigging into his pocket suddenly, Gadget dug out a small flip phone. Zero snickered, “What’s that piece of shit?”\n\n“This piece of shit will allow you to talk to me anytime we’re apart smartass.”\n\n“I know what a cell phone is stupid. That’s just the shittiest phone I’ve ever seen. Who the hell uses flip phones anymore?”\n\n“Some people,” Gadget stuck his tongue out, “And I don’t use it for much. I don’t have a lot of contacts or anything, and I don’t need it for games, so I chose to go simple.”\n\n“Well, if you had a higher upgraded phone like mine,” the jackal smirked as he pulled out a smartphone, “We could have video chatted.”\n\n“Well… I never had a need to video chat. Not until now anyway,” Gadget frowned, “My birthday’s coming up in a few months. I don’t usually ask for much, so I bet I could get a smartphone this year.”\n\n“If you don’t mind. It’d be nice to still be able to see your face even when I’m away from you,” he spoke while kissing the wolf’s nose, “How about we exchange numbers before we forget?”\n\nNodding happily, they worked to make sure all information was saved correctly on each device before doing practice calls and putting the phones away when everything was done.\n\n“By the way,” Zero changed the subject now that the phone situation was covered, “What are you doing for the summer?”\n\n“The summer?” Gadget confirmed before humming, “Well, I don’t really have any plans. I graduated from high school early and decided to take a break this summer before starting community college in the fall.”\n\n“You already graduated high school?” Zero whistled, “You’re so smart.”\n\nThe compliment made his cheeks darken. “T-Thank you.”\n\n“So, you don’t have any plans you said, right?”\n\n“Yeah.”\n\n“Well, my friends and I are on vacation now and will be traveling around for the rest of the summer. We plan to go all around the country.”\n\n“That’s so cool!” the wolf beamed, “I’ve been to a few places with my family, but there’s so much more out there I’d like to go see someday.”\n\n“I was thinking, maybe, would you like to come with us?”\n\nGadget was surprised by the offer, “Join you guys?”\n\n“Yeah,” Zero lightly held the other’s hands in his own, “We have a schedule of all the places we want to go to before summer ends, and since the season just started, we have a lot of traveling left to do.”\n\n“I-I dunno Zero,” Gadget stuttered, “It sounds fun, but as I said before, I didn’t bring much cash with me. And, I said I’d only be gone for a few days.”\n\n“You could probably text your siblings and say you’ll be traveling. The last thing I want to do is force you to come and then you don’t enjoy yourself. Eyes opened as darkness filled his sight. Sluggish, it took him a few minutes to realize he was in the hotel room with Zero, and not remembering at all what he had been dreaming about. The alarm clock by the side of the bed read 2:37am. Stomach growling, he assumed it was from not eating dinner and going to bed early.
Becoming suddenly aware of the warmth by his side, Gadget turned his head to see arms wrapped around him and Zero sleeping soundlessly. The jackal’s face was near his and he blushed, but felt cozy in the other’s embrace as happiness bubbled in his chest.
Without thinking, he scooted closer to the slumbering male and tenderly kissed his lips. He noticed immediately that the kiss was returned, causing Gadget’s eyelids to flutter shut.
They both backed away. A smug grin was on Zero’s muzzle, “Morning sleeping beauty. And here you were worried I would do something to you in your sleep.”
“Oh shush!” Gadget pushed him playfully.
“Nope, don’t think so,” fingers ran along the wolf’s sides, and he started to giggle.
“S-stop it! That tickles!”
“Maybe if you say ‘I surrender’, I might consider it.”
“You j-jerk.”
“You love it.”
The tickling continued, but not for long as Gadget swiftly pulled the other close and slanted his lips against the jackal’s. The tickles instantly ceasing as Zero wrapped his arms around Gadget’s waist.
Pulling away, Gadget replied, “I do love it. I love you.”
White cheeks turned pink for a moment in surprise from hearing those words before shifting closer than before.
“I love you too Gadget.”
Fingers traveled along a red furred back, not to tickle this time, but explore.
“Gadget, can I touch you? Make you feel good? It doesn’t have to be sex. I just, missed you. I want to love on you again, but I don’t want to push you if you’re not comfortable.”
Cupping one of the jackal’s cheeks, the wolf answered, “You don’t have to be afraid to touch me. Granted, I don’t think I’m ready for full on sex yet, but you can hug me, kiss me, anything. Can I ask a question before you do?”
“Of course love.”
“What are we exactly?”
A dark ear twitched in question, “What do you mean?”
“I know when we were younger, we said we were best friends, and loved each other. I guess, if others ask us what we are, what do we tell them? If I say you’re my friend, it doesn’t mean anything from having another friend, but I feel differently than just a ‘normal friend’ towards you.”
“As do I,” Zero replied before picking up one of the other’s hands and lips brushing the palm, “I never officially asked you when we were younger because I don’t think I gave it much thought and I wasn’t too worried about it since we were on the same page. I would definitely say you’re my lover if anyone asked me.” Gadget’s face flushed, but it was missed in the dark room. “But, I want to formally ask you.”
“Huh?”
Both of the wolf’s hands were taken as Zero held them in his; intertwining their fingers. “Gadget, would you do me the honor, of becoming my boyfriend, and lover?”
A sharp breath was taken in from surprise. Tears stung his eyes as overwhelming joy gripped his heart and he hastily embraced him. “Yes! Yes Zero! Always!”
They kissed. Lips locked as they snaked their limbs around one another; arms across the backs and waists, while legs became tangled. Pulling them all the closer to each other, they couldn’t possibly feel a higher form of happiness.
Fangs bit softly at the ruby canine’s lips, asking for entrance before his tongue was allowed in; exploring every inch and cavity of the oral crevice. A shallow moan escaped into the jackal’s mouth, causing them to break for breath.
Cautiously, Zero adjusted to now lean over the other male, making him lie on his back, before showering kisses and nibbles along his neck.
“Z-Zero…” Gadget breathed out huskily while weaving his fingers through white locks, “Feels good.”
“Mmmm,” was hummed out in response, “Don’t worry. I’m going to make you feel better. I’ll take good care of you.”
“I trust you Zero.”
And as if to prove it, he was quickly becoming hard; a bulge clearly visible as the attention on the wolf’s neck continued. It wasn’t missed by those heterochromia eyes as his lips leisurely traveled further down his neck to his chest. While brushing his mouth against the wolf below him, one hand moved down lower and touched at the sensitive skin covering.
Flinching, Gadget unconsciously grinded into the wondering digits while a deep groan escaped him.
“A-Ah!”
“Is this alright? I can stop if you don’t want me to touch you there.”
“No. D-don’t stop…I like it.”
The fingers continued their teasing there, making the crimson canine shiver in pleasure.
“Let it out for me then.”
“Zero, I…mmmmmm….”
The touching there felt amazing. He couldn’t keep it in, he never could. Everything felt so right, and he loved Zero so much. He let himself free.
Fingers instantly grabbed ahold of the shaft and tenderly rubbed along it.

The grip tightened slightly before putting more speed into pumping the length, making the wolf’s breath hitch. Fingers danced as he worked to pleasure the one he loves so much that laid below him. Pants left those irresistible plump lips, cheeks tinted red which he was able to see despite the dark room, and sweat formed along Gadget’s brow that made him all that more appealing to observe as digits continued to fly along his shaft.
“You have no idea how much I love you. Don’t be shy. Don’t hold anything back.”

With that spoken command, Gadget couldn’t stop himself as white sputtered everywhere; all along Zero’s hand and on their lower bodies. Pants left him.

His cheek was kissed, “I’m glad.”
A wave of exhaustion quickly hit the wolf. “I’m sleepy.”
Kissing him again, the jackal replied, “Get some rest love.”

Morning came as the jackal woke up and stretched. Slipping out of bed carefully as not to awaken the slumbering wolf, he strolled to the other side of the bed to give the other male a sweet kiss to his temple before going to rinse off the dried up cum from a few hours beforehand.
When finished, he wrote a small note telling Gadget he’d be downstairs having breakfast, as neither had dinner last night, and Zero was starting to feel the effects of it. After the note was left on the side table by the bed, he quietly left and headed down to the breakfast area on the main floor.
Once there, he went to nabbing some fruit and yogurt from the breakfast bar along with a mug of coffee, and then walked towards the seating area. Loud talking and laughter was heard and Zero sighed as he knew exactly who it was. Heading towards the source, it appeared his guess was correct.
The group of jackals noticed Zero before he joined them.
“Ey! Morning boss!” Kevin greeted as Zero took a seat.
“Hey boss!” Ben chimed in, “Where’s your plaything?”
“Don’t call him that.” Zero stabbed at a piece of fruit before shoving it in his mouth.
Gervais inquired, “How did you two even meet?”
“And why’d you flirt with him?!” Ben half exasperated, “I’ve tried for years to find someone so you could get laid, since you’re so hard nosed, and you turned down every option I gave you, even the men.”
“It’s not about being gay.” Zero answered with a glare.
“Then what is it about?” The female of the group, Kia, finally spoke up, “You’ve never cared to get close to anyone. Granted, it’s not like we witnessed PDA between you and that wolf, Gadget right? But, you’ve clearly got a soft spot for him. You can’t blame us for being a bit curious.”
Sighing softly, Zero put his fork down as he looked among his squad. These jackals, they followed him for three years. They had the freedom to do otherwise, but here they stay, stupidly loyal to him. He could honestly call them friends, but after what happened back when he thought Gadget died, he feared getting too close to any jackal, or anyone for that matter. But, they’ve been through hell and back these three years just to get to where they are now; financially stable and actually enjoying a nice vacation. There were many occasions where they all worked hard together and saved each other’s lives.
“I never told you all how I got imprisoned in the jackal camp.”
“What?” Ben questioned, “Are you finally gonna tell us what you did that pissed the jackals off so much?”
“This Gadget has something to do with it?” Kia questioned with a raised brow.
“He didn’t do anything. It was all me,” Zero confessed, “During the year where we have to survive on our own, I was given a seaside town, the town we’re in today. There’s no caves, no forests, nowhere to really stay in from the cold, not even much for abandoned buildings except a warehouse by the docks. Gadget was an orphan at the time. He’d been walking around town and found me freezing in an alleyway. He took me in and let me stay with him. He...saved my life.”
“Why is that a bad thing?” Kevin piped up, “They told us we have to try to survive at any cost.”
“It might not have necessarily been bad, but there’s more to it than that,” Zero took a sip of his black coffee, “We became friends. I’d never met someone like him before.”
“Innocent and nice?” Kia guessed.
“Yeah,” the boss smiled, “He just, never worried about himself, but rather about me. I’ve never experienced anything like that before.”
Gervais inquired, “Then what happened?”
“Well, I stayed with him from the winter to the springtime. We became closer, best friends, but I felt more than that.”
“You loved him?” The female filled in.
“Love him. I still very much do.”
“Aww!” Ben grinned, “No wonder you never wanted to get laid.”
“Would you shut up about that?” Gervais cut-in.
“He felt the same, so we had a closer than friendship type of relationship. We hadn’t put a label on it at the time, partly because I don’t think either one of us worried about it too much. However, during the summer, we were still together, and Jastar found out.”
“Oh no…” Ben mumbled, already guessing what was coming.
“In the fall, he took me away and to the jackal pack. A month later, Jastar brought me back here, and made me watch as he burned the orphanage Gadget stayed at to the ground.”
The group was completely silent, not expecting what had been told. “Then what happened?”
“I thought he killed Gadget. I was so infuriated and heartbroken, that I stole the guard’s sword and stabbed them both.”
“Dude…” Kevin went wide eyed.
“That’s why I never wanted to tell anyone.”
“I don’t care about that,” Kia remarked, “Jastar was an asshole. How’d Gadget get out?”
“Apparently, two days after I got taken back to the pack, he was adopted. So, he’d been gone for about a month when it happened.”
“Talk about lucky.”
The boss nodded, “I know.”
“I’m glad he’s okay,” Ben said earnestly, “Does he know…?”
“No and he doesn’t need to either.”
No words were spoken. That was probably the quietest they’d been since arriving to that town. Zero mentally kicked himself for telling them everything, but then again, they didn’t seem to mind at all; more glad he finally confessed as the others already spilled their guts over the years about what they did to get into jackal prison. Zero’s act was by far the worst out of them.
“So…” Kia drew out, “You gonna tell the details of last night or what?”
“Seriously?! After what I just told you, that’s your concern?”
“What? I’m just curious,” Kia snorted while Kevin stuck his tongue out in disgust.
“I personally don’t wanna know bout y’all’s sex lives.”
“Your accent is showing again,” Gervais pointed out.
“Quit makin’ fun a my accent!”
“That’s what happens when you come from another pack dumbass.”
The jackal leader facepalmed as he watched his team banter on as usual. He literally not only admitted to murder, but murdering two jackals at that. Granted, everyone thought Jastar was an asshole and no one liked him, but still…
“You’re all so lively this morning.” All heads turned immediately to see a red wolf standing there while rubbing the sleep out of one of his eyes. “Good morning everyone.”
Standing from his chair, Zero spoke, “Sit here. I’ll grab another.”
“You sure?”
Shoulders were gripped as Gadget fell into the seat. Yes, apparently he was very sure. The boss grabbed a chair from a different table and scooted it by the sleepy wolf.
Ben smirked, “Soooo, how was your night last night?”
“Damn it Ben!”
“We watched a movie.”
“That’s it?” Kia asked in disbelief.
“I fell asleep in the first five minutes of it.”
Kevin snickered, “Wow, sucks for you Zero.”
“Shut up Kevin.”
“What sucks?” Gadget yawned, “I should probably get some coffee…”
“What sucks is that there was no *bow chicka bow wow*” Ben smuggly grinned while making hand gestures.
“Ugh,” Kia rolled her eyes, “Really bro?”
Zero rubbed his temple to fight off a forming headache as Gadget stared off into space as he tried to wake up, not realizing what Ben had meant, and missed what he did.
“I’m going to get some coffee,” Gadget told Zero.
“Want some of mine?”
All that was seen was a dark abyss with nothing whatsoever else in the cup.
“Straight black coffee? Uh, no thanks.”
Gadget stood and went towards the breakfast bar to grab himself some coffee, not realizing Zero watched him the whole time he left his seat.
“Dude,” catching Zero’s attention was Ben, “Stop being so obvious about checking him out.”
“He’s my boyfriend. If I want to check him out, I can.”
“Oh, so the title is official?” the female jackal inquired.
“As of last night, yes.”
Ben eyed him suspiciously, “Are you sure you two didn’t have sex?”
“Whether we did or not is none of your damn business.”
Just then, the wolf walked back to the table carrying a mug with about twenty percent coffee and eighty percent vanilla creamer. As he took a seat, Zero looked at the drink in disdain, “How much shit did you put in there?”
“As much as necessary so I don’t taste the coffee.”
“What’s the point then?”
“I get the same amount of caffeine only it tastes better.”
Ben snickered at the two before cutting in, “Hey, wanna know what Zero did when you left?”
“Hm? What?”
“Shut it Ben.”
“He was checking out your butt.”
Gadget’s face instantly flared up while Zero’s fist slammed on the table. “For fuck’s sake Ben!”
“You didn’t deny it,” Gervais pointed out while taking a sip of his also straight black coffee.
“I hate you all sometimes.”
“We know you think otherwise,” Kia laughed.
The six continued to chat for another half hour before Zero couldn’t stand the teasing anymore and Gadget’s face continued to flush the entire time from it. So, the duo finally left and went up to their room. Being away from them was nice as the two just relaxed on the bed for awhile and watched television. They snuggled and enjoyed old fashioned cartoons.
“Hey?”
“Yeah Zero?”
“You’re only staying in West Sea Town for another day or two, right?”
“Yeah, I didn’t bring much cash with me. I have more money, but it’s all in my savings and checking accounts, and I don’t have any debit cards yet. My parents wanted me to wait until I was seventeen before getting my first debit card.”
“How come?”
“Because they felt if I only had oh so much cash on me verses having access to my whole account all the time, I wouldn't spend as much money. I’ve had my accounts since I was fifteen. It was good as it’s taught me to budget what I have on me pretty well, especially since getting a car.”
“Ah, I see,” Zero nodded, “I just wondered what it would look like after this.”
“You mean after this trip?”
“Yes.”
“Hm…” the wolf thought for a moment, “Do you have a cell phone?”
“Of course.”
Digging into his pocket suddenly, Gadget dug out a small flip phone. Zero snickered, “What’s that piece of shit?”
“This piece of shit will allow you to talk to me anytime we’re apart smartass.”
“I know what a cell phone is stupid. That’s just the shittiest phone I’ve ever seen. Who the hell uses flip phones anymore?”
“Some people,” Gadget stuck his tongue out, “And I don’t use it for much. I don’t have a lot of contacts or anything, and I don’t need it for games, so I chose to go simple.”
“Well, if you had a higher upgraded phone like mine,” the jackal smirked as he pulled out a smartphone, “We could have video chatted.”
“Well… I never had a need to video chat. Not until now anyway,” Gadget frowned, “My birthday’s coming up in a few months. I don’t usually ask for much, so I bet I could get a smartphone this year.”
“If you don’t mind. It’d be nice to still be able to see your face even when I’m away from you,” he spoke while kissing the wolf’s nose, “How about we exchange numbers before we forget?”
Nodding happily, they worked to make sure all information was saved correctly on each device before doing practice calls and putting the phones away when everything was done.
“By the way,” Zero changed the subject now that the phone situation was covered, “What are you doing for the summer?”
“The summer?” Gadget confirmed before humming, “Well, I don’t really have any plans. I graduated from high school early and decided to take a break this summer before starting community college in the fall.”
“You already graduated high school?” Zero whistled, “You’re so smart.”
The compliment made his cheeks darken. “T-Thank you.”
“So, you don’t have any plans you said, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, my friends and I are on vacation now and will be traveling around for the rest of the summer. We plan to go all around the country.”
“That’s so cool!” the wolf beamed, “I’ve been to a few places with my family, but there’s so much more out there I’d like to go see someday.”
“I was thinking, maybe, would you like to come with us?”
Gadget was surprised by the offer, “Join you guys?”
“Yeah,” Zero lightly held the other’s hands in his own, “We have a schedule of all the places we want to go to before summer ends, and since the season just started, we have a lot of traveling left to do.”
“I-I dunno Zero,” Gadget stuttered, “It sounds fun, but as I said before, I didn’t bring much cash with me. And, I said I’d only be gone for a few days.”
“You could probably text your siblings and say you’ll be traveling. Since it sounds like your parents will be gone for a few weeks.”
