"writing": "Anubis Returns, On Contract\nKink-Vember 10\nBy Draconicon\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnubis, like all gods, existed on the edge of oblivion. They were so great, so vast that they could not inhabit the world as themselves without cracking it, so they rested on the edge, where the great void of before-life gave them the space to sprawl naturally. They had clung to it for eons, waiting for the offerings of avatars to inhabit and walk the world again for a time. Once, that had been common, offered to them at least one a decade, and he and his brethren, his family, had walked among mortals as they wished. \n\nBut over time, things had changed. The offerings came less frequently. Every ten years became every twenty, then every fifty, then every hundred. The last had come nearly four hundred years past, and the world had been unrecognizable for the great Hound of the Graveyard. He had seen nothing that he recognized, and only hints of what had once been in the sandy land that he had once called home. \n\nHe, and the other gods, had resigned themselves to a slow wasting on the edge, their grip on the world fading as they stopped thinking about it. The endless seduction of the great void edged them toward it bit by bit, and with nothing to hold them back, it was so easy to lean closer to it. \n\nThen, Anubis felt the summons. The others were only just beginning to stir as he grabbed the offered spell with both hands, dragging himself toward it before they could take the latest release from him. With each pull on the magical rope, he felt the world of life opening up before him. Ra’s lost child still burned across the skies in the world below, and the endless pulse of life – a rhythm so strong and so regular that it was no different than the hearts once weighed in the underworld – called to him once more. \n\nBehind him, he felt the slow surge of wakefulness again, the powers of Isis and Osiris, the strength of Set, the jealousy and anger of Sekhmet rising as they realized that there was a new summon, but they were too slow. They could not catch him before he had left oblivion behind, the spell calling him to a new body. \n\nHe had never felt such desperation, such urgency to respond to a summons before, but at the same time, he had never been so close to the edge of oblivion, either. This was his rescue, his relief. \n\nThe world of life beckoned, and he leaped for it, no longer climbing the rope against the river of death but falling down it, swept in the currents going the other way. He was called, once more, and the jackal of the graveyard would answer. \n\n#\n\nAnubis opened his eyes and immediately knew that something was wrong. His body ached with exhaustion, a feeling that no avatar before had ever let him feel. The offerings had always been warriors, creatures of strength and power, but this…\n\nHe looked down at his hands. The fur on their backs was already changing, going dark brown, then black, with rings of gold around his fingers taking shape, but they were soft, almost fey, womanly. His arms, likewise, lacked the lean muscles of his true self, slender and soft. \n\nHave I been summoned to a woman?\n\nNo, he had nothing of the breasts that a woman should have, and between his legs, there was a proper phallus, though one smaller than a god such as himself should have born. He ran his hands down his sides, feeling the slenderness of his frame. No lean muscle, but something willowy, defying easy classification. \n\nHe rested his hand on his hips, his thumb gliding along the curve of his rump. He snarled, gathering his strength – \n\n“NNNGH!”\n\nChains unseen wrapped around him as he called at his power, yanking his arms out to the side and shimmering into place as golden serpents up and down his arms. The summoning circle at his feet burst into a light that he had not seen since the ancient days. \n\n“Ugh…nnngh…Summoner…I know you’re there…” Anubis growled deep in his throat, and even in this pathetic frame, some hint of his power echoed on a deeper level still. “Show yourself…and prove that you are worthy of Anubis’s presence.”\n\n“I believe it might be more interesting to see if you are still worthy of your summoner, in this case.”\n\nAnubis whipped his head toward the sound of the voice. He expected to see remnants of a temple, or some great academy of priests and magicians around him. Instead, he saw nothing but a small room, closer to a large vanity closet than anything else in size. The walls were lined with bookshelves, each wooden plank shimmering with magical runes, and the books upon them glimmering in similar fashion. They were shielded, he realized, warded against powers that would seek to use them against their owner’s will. \n\nIt seemed that his summoner, at least, had access to great power. He cast his eyes further toward the voice. \n\nA black-scaled dragon stood at the edge of the room, leaning against the doorway with a small smile on his face. White eyes stared back at the dark hound like two glowing clouds in endless night. The dragon’s attire, likewise, was strange to him, with red garments with rare golden thread, and barefoot, as well. \n\n“What is your name, summoner?” Anubis asked. \n\n“That part isn’t important yet.”\n\n“It is, if you claim to hold me…”\n\n“I don’t think ‘claim’ is the right word, considering that you haven’t been able to attempt to kill me, just yet.”\n\n“…”\n\n“Shall I tell you what’s holding you back?” the dragon asked, standing up straight and putting his hands in his pockets. “I imagine you’re curious, after all your time in the endless void. Things have changed quite a bit here, since the last time you were summoned. Just before the 1600s, if I remember right.”\n\n“…Tell me,” Anubis grunted. \n\n“Happily. Your avatar-host is bound to me by contract. Slave-bonded – his choice, gods know why – and then magically enforced to cover both body and soul.”\n\n“…You have bound me through my host…”\n\n“And your acceptance of your own summoning contract, too,” the dragon admitted, shrugging. “Can’t be too careful.”\n\n“You…trapped the summoning spell?” Anubis shook his head. “Impossible. It takes entire temples of priests to merely call out to us. No-one has the power to ‘trap’ a summoning spell.”\n\n“Yeaaaaaaah, that was what they needed hundreds of years ago, but magic has kind of advanced since then. More efficient, more direct, less wasteful. All that jazz. Not that you know what that means. Anyway.” The dragon shook his head. “I called you here with a very direct, very open summons that restrains your godly powers unless you get permission to use them, ensures that you have an invincible body that cannot break without my destruction first, and essentially binds you to follow direct orders as well as you can.”\n\nAnubis stared at the dragon, a low growl building in his chest. Yet, at the same time, he could feel the power in his bindings. It was ever-so; Thoth had laid it down between them and the mortals many eons ago. They were gods, greater and mightier than mortals ever would be, but their power was subject to agreement. And he had not read the agreement before taking it, assuming that it was the same as it always was. \n\nA mistake that would humiliate him for years to come, he supposed. He tested the chains once more and found them strong, stronger than he could break. His body, slender, willowy, and curvy, refused to obey his greater powers. \n\n“What do you wish of me?” he muttered. “To keep this secret, what do you wish of me?”\n\n“Honestly, multiple things, but first, answer me this. Do you want to go back?”\n\n“No.” \n\n“That was quick.”\n\n“Life is quick. Oblivion is endless nothing. It is not peace, it is not rest. It is oblivion, the endless roar of nothing, the seductive madness that waits when there is nothing, nothing to fill it, to distract, to be. Even this…this is better than resting there, forgotten.”\n\nThe dragon nodded, finally waving his hand. The chains disappeared, and the circle went with them. Anubis took a tentative step forward and found he could move, though not so mightily as he would have liked. Naked, he drew himself up as well as he could before the dragon, looking him in the eye. \n\n“You will keep my shame a secret?” Anubis asked. \n\n“In a manner of speaking.” The dragon smiled. “I hope to summon all of your pantheon to the planet again. Would any of you speak of the same shame to each other, if you all fell for the same thing?”\n\nAnubis smiled. \n\n“Heh, you get it.”\n\n“What will you do with us, mortal?” he asked. “You have chained a god.”\n\n“Leashed, I think.”\n\n“Perhaps. But what will you do?”\n\n“…I’m still figuring that out, I’ll admit,” the dragon said, shaking his head. “The first point was really to bring something back that has been missing. And to give some life back to that which is dead.”\n\n“You almost sound like you felt sorry for us.”\n\n“Perhaps I did,” the dragon said, shrugging. “But I’m not going to deny that it’s…quite enjoyable to see you naked like this, heh. You’re always portrayed so strong, but seeing you so slender and androgynous –”\n\n“Do not.”\n\n“Anubis…Spread.”\n\nWithout warning, the dog’s body fought him, dragging him in a circle. His legs spread without him commanding it, and his tail went up. The jackal god’s eyes went wider still as he reached around and groped at his own rump, spreading the cheeks wide – \n\n“Ah!”\n\n“I see your host’s body still, heh, gapes,” the dragon said. “It seems a few of your host’s proclivities remains, too, considering it’s twitching.”\n\n“You…you…Release me from this…this humiliation!”\n\n“Yes, yes, I will. You may stand and relax.”\n\nAnubis did one of those things. He spun around, his cheeks as red as the rest of him was black. And yet…\n\nThere was none of that conniving bastardry on the dragon’s face as there had been on other gods or priests in the past. There was no sneering condescension, just…amusement. He did not know how to feel about that. \n\n“Your name. I will have your name, summoner.”\n\n“Draconicon,” the dragon said. “Anubis. I’m not going to lie to you. I do have plans for the future, and there may be times I’ll think of you that way. But I make you this promise. You will have more freedom than you had before…and I will make sure that whatever happens to you, you’ll enjoy it.”\n\n“That is…a concerning promise.”\n\n“Isn’t it?” The dragon chuckled. “Now, let’s see about finding someone else to host someone else from your pantheon. I’ve always been curious if Isis is as good at magic as she’s been rumored to be…”\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe End\n\nSummary: Anubis is all but forgotten, as are most of the gods. No-one has the power to ‘trap’ a summoning spell.”

“Yeaaaaaaah, that was what they needed hundreds of years ago, but magic has kind of advanced since then. More efficient, more direct, less wasteful. All that jazz. Not that you know what that means. Anyway.” The dragon shook his head. “I called you here with a very direct, very open summons that restrains your godly powers unless you get permission to use them, ensures that you have an invincible body that cannot break without my destruction first, and essentially binds you to follow direct orders as well as you can.”

Anubis stared at the dragon, a low growl building in his chest.

A mistake that would humiliate him for years to come, he supposed. He tested the chains once more and found them strong, stronger than he could break. His body, slender, willowy, and curvy, refused to obey his greater powers.

“What do you wish of me?” he muttered. “To keep this secret, what do you wish of me?”

“Honestly, multiple things, but first, answer me this. Do you want to go back?”

“No.”

“That was quick.”

“Life is quick. Oblivion is endless nothing. It is not peace, it is not rest. It is oblivion, the endless roar of nothing, the seductive madness that waits when there is nothing, nothing to fill it, to distract, to be. Even this…this is better than resting there, forgotten.”

The dragon nodded, finally waving his hand. The chains disappeared, and the circle went with them. Anubis took a tentative step forward and found he could move, though not so mightily as he would have liked. Naked, he drew himself up as well as he could before the dragon, looking him in the eye.

“You will keep my shame a secret?” Anubis asked.

“In a manner of speaking.” The dragon smiled. “I hope to summon all of your pantheon to the planet again. Would any of you speak of the same shame to each other, if you all fell for the same thing?”

Anubis smiled.

“Heh, you get it.”

“What will you do with us, mortal?” he asked. “You have chained a god.”

“Leashed, I think.”

“Perhaps. But what will you do?”

“…I’m still figuring that out, I’ll admit,” the dragon said, shaking his head. “The first point was really to bring something back that has been missing. And to give some life back to that which is dead.”

“You almost sound like you felt sorry for us.”

“Perhaps I did,” the dragon said, shrugging. “But I’m not going to deny that it’s…quite enjoyable to see you naked like this, heh. You’re always portrayed so strong, but seeing you so slender and androgynous –”

“Do not.”

“Anubis…Spread.”

Without warning, the dog’s body fought him, dragging him in a circle. His legs spread without him commanding it, and his tail went up. The jackal god’s eyes went wider still as he reached around and groped at his own rump, spreading the cheeks wide –

“Ah!”

“I see your host’s body still, heh, gapes,” the dragon said. “It seems a few of your host’s proclivities remains, too, considering it’s twitching.”

“You…you…Release me from this…this humiliation!”

“Yes, yes, I will. You may stand and relax.”

Anubis did one of those things. He spun around, his cheeks as red as the rest of him was black. And yet…

There was none of that conniving bastardry on the dragon’s face as there had been on other gods or priests in the past. There was no sneering condescension, just…amusement. He did not know how to feel about that.

“Your name. I will have your name, summoner.”

“Draconicon,” the dragon said. “Anubis. I’m not going to lie to you. I do have plans for the future, and there may be times I’ll think of you that way. But I make you this promise. You will have more freedom than you had before…and I will make sure that whatever happens to you, you’ll enjoy it.”

“That is…a concerning promise.”

“Isn’t it?” The dragon chuckled. “Now, let’s see about finding someone else to host someone else from your pantheon. I’ve always been curious if Isis is as good at magic as she’s been rumored to be…”

The End

Summary: Anubis is all but forgotten, as are most of the gods.
