Over at the Kanto region, inside the Viridian Forest, Witson was hosting his annual Easter Egg Hunt for the Pokemon kids, promising them some prizes for whoever can find the most eggs hidden around the forest. Most of the Pokemon were aiming to get first prize which contains a basket full of candy, some toys, and $200, which might not sound much for anyone, but for little kids, it sounded like a lot and no one wanted the prize more than Shelly, a 9-year-old male Wartortle. The thing is, Shelly is known for being lazy and he would use his charm or make up a lie to trick others into doing the work for him and if someone did fall for his tricks, Shelly would take full credit for the work and ‘forget’ the deals he promised. Anyone that has known Shelly for a long time were used to his tricks, which made it difficult for the Wartortle because none of the other kids were falling for his scheme this time. Shelly just huffed and was considering giving up, until he saw something in the distance. Standing on a rock was Witson’s 7-year-old Rattata daughter, Savannah. Savannah was by all accounts a pretty and nice young lady. She gets along with anybody just fine, perhaps a little too fine for some. A couple of her friends would agree that Savannah places too much trust into some Pokemon, and Shelly knows this all too well. Savannah would always blush and stammer anytime she runs into Shelly. She would try so hard to get Shelly to hang out with her, but Shelly always turned her down, but that never stopped Savannah from coming back to try her luck again. Shelly formed a little grin on his face. Savannah was checking around to see if any Pokemon needed some help in finding a certain egg. She’s not partaking in the hunt because she helped her father in hiding the eggs around the forest. She heard someone crying and turned her head to see Shelly sitting by a tree, rubbing his right knee. Savannah quickly rushed to aid him. Savannah: What’s wrong, Shelly? Are you hurt?! She checked on his knee as the Wartortle flinched it away from her hand. Shelly: H-h-hi… Savannah… *Sniff* I… I got too busy searching for an egg that I didn’t see where I was going and tripped over one of the roots of this tree and now I sprained my knee. Savannah: How bad is it? Can you stand? Shelly tried to pick himself up, using the tree trunk, but he hissed in pain, as his right leg started giving way. Savannah gently helped him sit back down. Shelly: I guess I won’t be able to win this year’s hunt. I was looking forward to winning first prize… Shelly watches Savannah muddling over something. He tried to hide his scheming smirk. Savannah: W-well… What if I was to take your place and help you win? Shelly: No, no, Savannah. It’s my fault for being careless. That would be considered cheating, and I hate to see someone like you getting into trouble. Savannah: Well… I actually have a plan to where no one will suspect us of cheating and you can still possibly win one of the prizes. It’s not fair for you to sit out this competition all because of a bad look out. The young Wartortle gently held Savannah’s hand, looking directly at her eyes. Shelly: If you would do that for me, Savannah, then I will consider you the greatest friend ever. And if I do win first prize, then I’ll split the prize money with you and you can hang out with me for a whole week, and we can go wherever you like. The young Rattata felt her heart throbbing in her chest. Savannah took Shelly’s basket and promised to return back with the eggs. Shelly just snickered quietly to himself as Savannah was determined to make sure Shelly wins and make her dream come true. She remembered most of the spots where she hid the eggs. Lucky for Savannah, she can be sneaky when she needs to be, and she’s a good sprinter. She made sure no one else watched her picking up an egg, but she didn’t want to be unfair to the other contestants, so she would either let another Pokemon pick up the egg if they found it first, or if someone did spot her, she would just say that her father asked her check the eggs and give one to the Pokemon to throw away an suspicion. Meanwhile, Shelly was laughing to himself under the tree. He could feel that prize money in his hand. Shelly (Thinking): I should have worked my charm on Savannah years ago. He heard a little rustle coming from the bush, he quickly put on his facade as Savannah came out with a basket full of eggs and handed them over to Shelly. Shelly: Thank you, Savannah. Did you have any trouble? The Rattata shook her head. Savannah: Do you want me to take these over to the picnic table? Shelly: Nah… My knee is starting to heal up, so I’ll take them over to the table. You stay here and I’ll be back with the prize. Savannah: Well… Let me help you up at least. Savannah carefully held and lifted Shelly with her shoulders. The sneaky Wartortle surprised the Rattata with a little kiss on the lips, causing Savannah to stand still and blush. Shelly: Thanks for your help, Savannah. I’m looking forward to our date. Savannah (Blushing): Ye-ye-yeah… Me too… As Shelly started to leave, Savannah turned her head and continued to blush, but once the shock started to die down, she couldn’t help but to feel something was off. If Shelly is still hurt, how is he able to walk just fine? Shelly turned his head and noticed Savannah skepticism, he quickly pretended to limp before Savannah started to put the pieces together. Savannah didn’t want to accuse Shelly of anything, but something in the back of her mind was making her feel uneasy. A couple of hours have passed, Savannah stayed under that same tree as she looked at her watch and noticed the sun was about to set itself. That uneasy feeling kept on growing the longer she waited. Savannah (Thinking): He-he wouldn’t do that to me, would he? ?: Savannah? The little Rattata stood as she heard some rustling in the bushes and out came her father, a tall male Rattata. Savannah: Hi-hi, daddy. Witson: Where were you, Savannah? I didn’t see you at the prize table. Savannah: I… uh… I was… checking to make sure all the easter eggs were found. So who won the contest? Witson: Well, some Wartortle by the name of Shelly won the contest. Though some of the other contestants were calling foul and claimed that he must have cheated. Both Savannah’s ears and whiskers began to drop. Savannah: O-oh… … Where is Shelly now, daddy? Witson: He left as soon as I gave him the basket and money. Witson noticed something was eating Savannah, judging by the look on her face. Witson: Savannah? Is something the matter? Savannah: I… I’m fine, daddy. … I’m… Just bummed out I didn’t get to see Shelly winning. Witson knew that was a lie, but he didn’t want to spoil the holiday for his daughter. He figures he can ask her later. Witson: Well, I’m sure Shelly would be delighted to show you his prize when you see him at school. Oh Savannah was going to talk to Shelly, alright. As much as she wants to give him the benefit of doubt, she felt extremely hurt that Shelly took advantage of her emotions. When school was back at session, Savannah was thinking of a way to talk to Shelly without trying to draw too much attention. As she kept on remembering his actions, she felt worse than ever that she helped him cheat and now she started to wonder if all those rumors about Shelly were true. Lucky for Savannah, Shelly’s recess starts just when her recess is over, and she knows a good spot that’s still close to the school where she and Shelly can talk privately. Shelly, on the other hand, felt very pleased with himself. He couldn’t stop chuckling to himself that his plan had worked. He couldn’t wait to see the look on Savannah’s face when they crosspaths. He looked at the clock on the wall and as soon as the bell rang for recess, he waited in line with his other classmates as the doors were open. Shelly looked over, but he couldn’t find Savannah out of the long line of 2nd graders coming back in for lunch. He shrugged it off, figuring he’ll run into her soon enough. As the kids ran around the courtyard and playground, Shelly’s ears moved as he heard his name being called. He turned his head and spotted Savannah right behind some trees. Savannah knew that Shelly would never pass up the chance to boast about his success, so he quietly hid behind the trees with Savannah. Shelly: Well, well. You’ve picked a nice spot for us. Savannah was in no mood for Shelly’s attitude today. Savannah: Why? Shelly: Hm…? Savannah: Why did you trick me, Shelly? Why did you fake your injury so you can get me into doing the contest for you? Shelly: I don’t know what you’re talking about, Savannah. I was injured. Savannah: No you weren’t! There’s no way your leg could have healed itself THAT fast while I was hunting for eggs! You tricked me into helping you, because you knew I wouldn’t say no to you! Dad told me you left after he announced you as the winner. You promised me you would come back and split the prize with me! Shelly: So? I couldn’t help that, my dad wanted me to come home right away so I didn’t have time to come back to you. Look, I’m still a trustworthy Pokemon, and I’ll prove it by taking you out tonight as promised. … I know a couple of good places we can go to. Savannah: … … Before you do that, if you want to prove to me that you're trustworthy, then I also want to see the money. Where is it? Shelly: Oh… That? Savannah watched him turn his head. She wanted to give Shelly a chance, but from the look on his face, she thought she was ready to handle his new excuse. Shelly: I spend it. She looked at him almost dead in the eyes, her voice started to go low. Savannah: You what? What do you mean you spend it? Shelly (Chuckling): What do you think it means? The little Rattata clenched her fists. The way Shelly kept on laughing at her was the final straw for Savannah to close her eyes as she tried to hold back some tears. She felt like an idiot for placing that much trust into this jerk! Shelly: Look, Savannah. I’m sorry I couldn’t save all the money, but I spent it all for you. I was going to surprise you today, but I brought something that’s gonna make you look stunning. Savannah looked away. She tried to compress herself before she spoke again in a cold voice. Savannah: That money didn’t belong to you… Shelly: Your dad would beg to differ. Savannah: YOU DIDN’T EARN IT!!! *Panting* Your leg was never injured, you faked it just so you can trick me into helping you cheat! I wanted to give you a chance to come clean, but everyone is right about you! You’re a lying lazy bully that tricks everyone into doing your work while you take full credit! Shelly (Chuckling): Hey, you gotta stick to what you know best if you want to make it through. It’s not my fault everyone in the world is too nice or naive to understand when someone is playing with them. Don’t take it too harshly, Savannah. You definitely touched me with how much faith you put into someone like me. I’m definitely going to remember that the next time I need your help. Savannah (Growling): Not this time! Yeah, I’m too nice, and sure, I’m also naive, but I’m not stupid! Go find someone else to do your dirty work, because I’m done with you! Shelly (Chuckling): Aww… Come on, Savannah. What if I gave you a kiss to show how much you mean to me? Before Shelly had a chance to peck her lips, Savannah gave that Wartortle a good slap across the face. Her hand left a print on his cheek. Savannah: Leave! Now! I hope someone throws some dirt at your face! Shelly tried his luck again, but Savannah gave him a good shove right onto the gravel road! She looked over and there was the $200 right out of Shelly’s pocket. Shelly rubbed his arm and also saw that his lie had been exposed! Savannah quickly pulls Shelly by the ears to get him away from the money! Savannah: OOFFF!!! But she got dealt with an elbow blow to her left gut. Shelly quickly tries to crawl over to the money, but Savannah quickly grabs him by the tail and stomps on his shell, making Shelly grunt in pain from that strong stomp. The little Rattata was still pissed off over everything that Shelly did to her, so much so that vent all her anger out by giving that tail a strong bite! Shelly: AHHHHHHH!!! BITCH!!!! Savannah: OOGGHHH!!! Mmmfff!! Shelly chuckled to himself after dealing a strong kick of his own right into Savannah’s stomach. With Savannah distracted enough, he rushes back to grab the money, but Savannah was also done playing nice. She uses her quick attack to tackle Shelly onto the gravel road face first! She picks up his head, aiming to slam his face, but she spits up after Shelly elbows her cheek and manages to roll the Rattata off of him. Savannah was on her knees, brushing off her cheek. She squeaked once Shelly pulled on her hair and they gazed directly at each other. Shelly: Never would have expected you of all Pokemon would know how to fight. Savannah (Panting): At least you can’t say I’m a pushover! Savannah was prepared to use super fang to bite onto Shelly’s left knee, but the Wartortle saw the shine in her teeth and quickly kicked that jaw with said left knee! Savannah covers her mouth as Shelly picks her up and stomach punches her twice, pushing Savannah back a few steps. She opens her eyes in time to see Shelly planning to use bubble to sting her eyes. She quickly headbutts his jaw and was able to cancel the attack, but that was nothing compared to the skull bash Savannah received to the nose! She closed her eyes very tightly as she held that broken nose! Holding back her tears, her ears moved and she opened her eyes in time to see Shelly about to use iron tail on her. Savannah jumps up and aims to kick his face, but Shelly grabs her foot and swings Savannah to slam her back on the gravel road! Growling, she kicks the Wartortle in the stomach, but it wasn’t enough to push him back and once again, Shelly dealt the strongest blow as Savannah felt the world stopping for a split second as Shelly lets go of her foot and laughs his butt off seeing Savannah rolling around, holding her stomach where he dealt a strong stomp to it! Shelly: Aww… Is the baby gonna cry now?! Savannah wipes her spit off her chin, she glares at the Wartortle taunting her to get up. Shelly: Not gonna lie, it’s kind of awesome seeing you trying to fight. Maybe you can become my body guard. … If I remember to pay you that is. Savannah's eyes shone with rage as she screamed and gave Shelly quite the surprise as she lunged at him! A couple of kids from the playground looked at each other as they could have sworn they heard some type of screaming coming from the trees. Savannah at her sharp fangs right on Shelly’s neck as she slammed his head and back up against a wall! Shelly had never seen Savannah this pissed off before! Savannah: Who would want to work for a …. A jerk like you! Shelly spits up and his head starts to bobble after dealing with three face punches! One actually got him in the nose! He quickly grabs Savannah by her shoulder, kicking her stomach with his knee as Savannah spits up and bends over, then she spits up to the left after dealing a right hook shot to the face. She turned her head to see Shelly going for another bubble attack! Not having time to defend herself, she quickly covers her eyes and turns around, feeling those bubbles hitting her back and head. She used her ears to pick up Shelly’s sneak attack. She was able to grab his right shoulder and swift kicks his right cut before Shelly spits up hard and bends over after Savannah successfully manages to sucker punch his lower stomach, making the Wartortle fall on his knees, while he holds his stomach. Savannah finishes this by swift kicking Shelly in the head again, causing the Wartortle laid on the gravel road with bruises all around his face with the right side of his lips bleeding a bit. Savannah grabs his shirt, lifting him off to give him a stern look while she collects her breath. Savannah (Panting): You’re just lucky I show some mercy unlike some Pokemon! If I ever catch you trying to pull this shit again, then next time I’ll have more than just harsh words for you! Consider this your warning! She dealt him a headbutt right as she dropped him back down on the road. Savannah slowly stood up as she wiped some of the blood off her nose. She also had some bruises on her cheek and stomach, but nothing as bad when compared to Shelly, with his lips continuing to bleed. Savannah saw the money still on the road and went over to collect it. She felt this was too easy. Shelly grunted to himself as he rolled over and stared down at Savannah. He found a rock just big enough to knock her out. He grabs it and quickly rushes over, but Savannah grabs that arm and bends it over, making Shelly scream, which was cut short after he got dealt with a strong left hook uppercut and another strong stomach kick that made Shelly cough up as he tries to stay standing. The two Pokemon glared at each other as Savannah had enough of this! Shelly stumbles back a few steps after Savannah right hook shots him and then uppercuts his chin. Just when she was gearing up to roundhouse him one last time, Shelly fired up his water gun and got a clear shot of Savannah’s crotch. The female Rattata cried out after feeling her pants getting soaked. One of the Pokemon from the playground went to look for a school staff member. Savannah just sat on the gravel road. She heard and saw Shelly laughing his butt off as Savannah was having difficulty in keeping her tears to herself. She heard Shelly approaching her and gazed up at him. Shelly: Hehe… Aww, poor baby…! *Scoffs* It’s kind of cute that you, of all Pokemon, is trying to look and act tough, when you’re nothing more than a stupid broad! Savannah closed her eyes tightly, and took a deep breath as Shelly continued. Shelly: Fine, I don’t give a shit about you or our date! I have my money and I had my fun with you! There are other stupid Pokemon out there I can always use. … Maybe the next one will be just as ‘tough’ as you. Savannah felt her rage becoming uncontrollable. Her breathing became heavier and her sharp teeth began to show! Shelly was prepared to kick her face, but then time stopped for him once he felt a kick so powerful, he didn’t even have a moment to scream! Shelly felt his body slowly bending over and backing away from Savannah’s foot after she kicked his crotch. Savannah screamed and lunged at Shelly, slamming him on the ground! Shelly gazed up and saw in Savannah’s eyes that she wanted blood!!! Shelly actually felt his body quivering in fear! He tried to push Savannah off, but a brutal punch to face stunned him as he began to lose sight. Savannah vented all of her anger out onto this Wartortle and kept on dealing a brutal punch after a brutal punch and Shelly could do nothing as he felt his neck getting squeezed! Savannah: YOU KNEW WHAT YOU WERE DOING!!! YOU TRICK ME INTO LETTING YOU CHEAT BECAUSE YOU KNEW FULL WELL I HAD A CRUSH ON YOU!!! Those brutal punches kept on coming strong! Now Shelly was the one breathing heavily as blood was running out of his nose as he gasped for air. Savannah: Sure, I’m naive! I’m too nice and trustworthy! But I’m not a pushover! Especially not towards assholes like you that have played with other Pokemon’s emotions, including my friends! I hope you lay here on this road because this is what you deserve!!! Shelly looked up at Savannah, his face started turning blue and now tears were starting to form, but he was well past the point for Savannah to feel any sort of sympathy towards him! Savannah: But you’re right about one thing… I am stupid. I was stupid enough to fall for your tricks, and it’s thanks to you… I might not be able to earn anyone’s trust ever again… Savannah thought about her father and how he might react when Savannah tells him the truth. She snapped out her thoughts when Shelly tried to pull her arm away and Savannah was about to deal another punch when one of the school staff members came over and pulled her away from Shelly. Savannah tried to break free, but the staff member was able to detain her as another member went to check up on Shelly. He was bleeding from his nose to his lips and he coughed a couple of times to regain some air. *Few minutes later* Electabuzz: Mr. Witson! You got a phone call! When Witson picked up the phone, his heart stopped when he heard the principal’s voice. He hung up the phone as quickly as he could, and informed his boss about Savannah, so he had permission to leave early to drive on by to the school. He entered the office to see Savannah sitting on the chair, with her head hanging low. Right away, Witson was already concerned with the bruises on her face. He saw that Shelly and his father were presented as well. Shelly was giving an ice pack for his face while Savannah had a bandage on her nose. Persian: Thank you for coming in, Mr. Witson. Witson: What happened? The Persian principal explained what the staff and some of the other students told him. Persian: A couple of 3rd grade students said they heard screaming across from the playground, so our staff went to investigate and they found your daughter on top of Shelly, punching his face and strangling him by his neck. Witson looked over at this daughter as Savannah crossed her legs and clutched her hands. Witson: You don’t think Savannah started the fight? Do you? Persian: That I don’t know. I’m only going off what the staff has told me. I tried to get your daughter to tell her side of the story, but she wouldn’t tell me. That’s another reason why I called you here, thinking she might talk to you about what happened. Witson turned his head and could see his daughter shaking. He walked over and gently held her hands to help calm her down. He tried his best not to sound stern as he spoke. Witson: Savannah. Look at me, please. She lifted her head slightly, Witson saw Savannah’s eyes going red from trying so hard not to cry. He gave his usual fatherly smile to make her feel safe. Witson: It’s okay, Savannah. Daddy just wants to help. Did you start a fight with the Wartortle? Savannah closed her eyes and counted to ten in her head as everyone saw her puffing up her chest and heard her sniffling before she looked at her father again and simply nodded her head. Witson: Why, sweetie? Why did you fight him? Savannah glared at Shelly, who turned his head away from her. Witson softly told her daughter to look at him. Once he saw the tears rolling down her face, he pulled her in for a tight hug as she began to cry. Witson: Breathe in and out, darling. Let it all out and then explain yourself. Savannah: *Light crying* *SNNNIIIFFFF* *Deep breaths* Be… Because… Because he tricked me… The principal and Shelly’s father noticed Shelly lowering his head. Savannah: The Easter Egg hunt… … Shelly didn’t get all those eggs. … I did and gave the basket to him… Now Witson turned his attention towards Shelly and noticed how he’s glaring at his daughter. Savannah told the whole story of how Shelly faked an injury to play with her emotions and he bribed her in splitting the money if he wins. Both Shelly’s father and Witson glared at the Wartortle who was now shaken himself. Witson: Is that why you asked me about him when I found you? Savannah nodded her head. Blastoise: Son, is this true?! Did you use this young girl in order to win the contest?! Shelly looked around and could see all eyes glaring at him. Shelly: … … Okay, okay! Yes, I used Savannah in order to win! I faked an injury because I wanted to win the contest and keep the prize to myself! Shelly flinched once he felt his father’s firm grip on his shoulder. Blastoise: You should be ashamed of yourself! You’re just lucky you’re still here after what you did! How long has this been going on?! Shelly: … … … Savannah: He’s done this plenty of times. I can gather some of my friends and they can tell you how long he’s been doing this! *SNIFF* Witson could see his daughter is telling the truth based on how Shelly is staring at Savannah. Shelly’s father nudged his son, averting his attention back to his stern father. Blastoise: Do you still have the money?! Shelly was about to turn his head away again, but a stern sound from his father made him close his eyes tightly as he very reluctantly pulled the $200 out of his pocket. Blastoise: Give that money back to Mr. Witson! And apologize to Savannah, now! Witson accepts his money back while trying to keep his cool as Shelly and Savannah exchange some more glares. Shelly’s father grips onto his son’s shoulder as Shelly looks down on the floor. Savannah: I don’t want his apology…! Everyone looked at Savannah. Savannah: He’s not really sorry! I know he’s going to do something like this again even after getting in trouble with me! *Sighing* He doesn’t care for anyone but himself, so why should I forgive him just because he gave dad his money back?! Persian: Savannah… She looked up at her principal and her father who held her hand gently. Savannah: Am I going to get expelled? Everyone else turned their eyes to the Persian principal. The principal could tell that Savannah was scared of that opinion. Savannah: It… It was not my intention to start a fight! I… I just wanted to confront Shelly and give him a chance to tell the truth! I wanted him to at least give me some of the money back so I can return it to daddy… … so he can still trust me. Witson gently pulled his daughter in for another hug as Savannah began crying again. The principal gave the two a moment before he called Savannah’s name in a soft voice and had her look at him. Persian: Savannah. … While I don’t want to encourage this type of behavior, I believe in your story. You’ve been nothing but a good student here in this school. I had a feeling something wasn’t right when you got sent here. Yes, Shelly was in the wrong for tricking you, but you know that you were also in the wrong for letting your temper get the better of you, right? The little Rattata nodded her head. Persian: Seeing this is your first major offense, I’m willing to be fair and only give you one day of school suspension. Savannah looked at her principal and she gave him a tight hug, thanking him for at least letting her still attend this school. After she let go, the principal turned his attention to Shelly, still looking down on the ground. Persian: Now as for you… I’ve heard from your teachers about your lazy behavior, and this isn’t the only time you’ve been in this office. You knew what you did was wrong and knew that something like could have happened and you still choose this path. I hope this incident has taught you to be a better student among your peers! Now I’m not going to expel you either, but I am going to give you a week of school suspension, and I’m going to ask your teachers and some of our hall monitors to keep a better eye on you in making sure you’re doing your own work and not just using others to do it for you! I have made myself clear? Shelly: … … Y-ye… Yes, sir. Persian: Well, as long as we got this squared away, you two may leave with your parents anytime you want. Thanks again for coming over you two, I hope we won’t be having this kind of discussion again. Blastoise: We won’t, sir. … Believe me… With that, Witson and Shelly’s father left the office with their own kids at hand. Shelly’s father turned to Witson. Blastoise: I’m very sorry your daughter had to get involved in this. Had I known what my boy was doing, I would have made him return the basket before he got himself into real trouble. Witson: It’s no trouble, Mr. Power. We both have been kept in the dark about this, but I’m just glad my child is still here with me. Savannah gave her father a soft smile and Witson gently shook Mr. Power’s hand to show that there were no hard feelings. Mr. Power took his son home and before Witson made his way out into the hall with his daughter, Savannah gently tugged his shirt to get his attention. Savannah: Are you mad at me? Witson smiled down and gently picked his daughter up, brushing her hair. Witson: No, sweetie, but I was worried when I got the call. Why didn’t you tell me the truth before? She rested her head on his shoulder. Savannah: Because I was afraid. I was afraid you wouldn’t trust me anymore if I told you that I helped Shelly cheat. I thought I could have fixed this on my own… I’m sorry I made you worried, dad. Witson kissed his daughter on the cheek. Witson: Savannah. You know you can tell me anything that’s troubling you. Just because you let yourself get tricked, doesn’t mean I’m not going to trust you ever again. People used to trick your old man a couple of times when I was your age, so I understand the feeling quite well. I am proud of you for standing up and trying to put things right, but next time you feel that something isn’t right, come to your old man and I’ll help in making sure no one hurts you ever again, okay? Savannah smiled softly and nodded her head. Savannah: Thanks, dad. With that, the two went into Witson’s car and Witson decided to treat his daughter to some ice cream to cheer her up on the way home.
