Catilia stopped Eris from standing still.\nUndyne walked to the edge of the rise, her footsteps echoing throughout the cavern, observing the grass at the same time as she generated a spear of energy with her weapon, ready to launch it at whoever she saw. Everyone stood still without moving in the grass while Nami hugged the human tightly to protect him in case Undyne attacked.\nThe armored warrior looked carefully around the place in search of any prey from side to side. But as soon as she saw nothing interesting, she made her spear disappear and began to back away until she disappeared into the shadows. When Undyne disappeared, the group emerged from the seaweed, breathing heavily.\n“Holy cow. I’ve never been so tense in my life.” Noka said with a hand on her chest.\n“That guy made me remember the days when we ran from the Nothgardians and had to hide from their patrols,” Eris said, looking at the rise.\n“Please don’t remind me of those days,” Nami said.\n“Okay, it looks like we’ll have to be very careful here.” The human said.\n“I agree with that. But Nami summoned her claws and used them as a ranged weapon to fire energy beams that hit several of the shooting mermen, allowing Gida and Catilia to deal with the approaching ones.\nNoka prepared to act, but Eris simply picked up a rock from the ground and threw it hard at the head of one of the mermen, causing him to fall into the water, a moment that the others took advantage of to dispatch the rest of the mermen.\n“Okay, it's clear that they are everywhere,” Gida said, putting away her lightsaber.\n“Yeah, we'll have to be careful from here on,” Eris said, putting her hand on the human's head. “Isn't that right?” The human simply nodded.\nAfter the encounter, the group continued to advance through the caverns. In one of the caverns, they found a multitude of the strange echo flowers talking about wishes that people would wish to fulfill.\nAnd in the next one, they found some murals that seemed to talk a little about a war between monsters and humans, mentioning their weaknesses. They also emphasized the detail that mentioned how terrifying a monster with a human soul could be, giving more reasons to avoid the human child falling into the wrong hands.\nAfter continuing to advance, they had another encounter with several mermen that came out of the water to surround them. The group prepared to face the attacking monsters when something sudden happened.\nA spear of energy fell out of sudden on one of the mermen, destroying it on the spot and scaring the rest of the newts who fled in terror.\nInstinctively Nami summoned her weapon and launched a beam of energy at one side of the hallway, hitting one of the pillars there, just as Undyne appeared on the other side of the pillar.\n“Great, she found us!” Catilia cursed.\n“Run!” Gida exclaimed, starting to run while grabbing the human by the hand.\n“Really?” Eris asked, wanting to face Undyne, but a pair of energy spears fell at her feet. “Okay, got it!”\nThe group began to run through the cavern as fast as they could, constantly being chased by Undyne who was on the other side of the pillars, throwing dozens of energy spears that they had to dodge at all costs. Some spears even came close to hitting them, but it was clear that the human was the target of their attacker.\nSeeing one of the spears approaching, Eris caught it in her hands and threw it back at Undyne, but Undyne simply hid behind a pillar avoiding receiving his own spear, at the same time Gida and Noka were forced to use Force pushes to deflect several of the spears that were approaching them.\n“She is as tenacious as him,” Gida said as she ran.\n“Yes, it seems so, master,” Noka said following her closely.\n“Less talk and keep running” exclaimed Catilia, who was carrying the human child in her arms as she fled.\n“We must find a hiding place!” exclaimed Nami as she fled.\n“There!” exclaimed Gida, pointing to a patch of tall seaweed.\nThey all entered the seaweed patch dodging the spears that Undyne threw at them. When they disappeared from her sight, the armored figure advanced through the seaweed trying to find them and the human, his head sticking out of the seaweed. As soon as she felt someone nearby, she quickly extended her arm to grab whoever it was.\nAs he grabbed someone with her hand, the person began to raise her arm to see what she had grabbed, but to her surprise, it was the yellow monster in his hand. After a few seconds, she gently put it on the ground and walked away the way she had come.\nThe group left the seaweed when the path was safe, breathing a sigh of relief. At that moment the little monster came out of the seaweed field excitedly.\n“Yo… did you see that?!” the monster asked excitedly. “Undyne just… TOUCHED ME!”\nAll the girls except the human looked at the monster, irritated by the monster’s words, as they were not interested in the fact that Undyne had touched him.\n“I’m never washing my face ever again.” the monster exclaimed. And right after he received a slap on the head from Eris.\n“Are you stupid or what’s wrong with you?” Eris asked, irritated. “Don’t you know there are bloodthirsty monsters out there?! Go back to your house immediately!”\nThe monster groaned a little in pain but shook his head. “I’m not afraid! If Undyne isn’t afraid of the Duke’s scoundrels, then neither am I!” He said before running off.\n“Seriously, that kid is going to get himself killed,” Catilia said. “Or worse, get us killed.”\n“Why do I get the feeling that we’ll have to take care of that little monster too?” Noka asked.\n“As if the kid wasn’t enough,” Eris said pointing at the human.\n“Am I giving you girls trouble?” the human asked.\n“Don’t ask,” Eris warned it.\n \nThe group continued to advance through the Waterfall caverns without many problems.\n“hey, you guys look exhausted,” Sans said, who was against a wall, with a telescope next to him.\n“Don’t ask, okay?” Catilia warned.\n“well, I guess it will cheer you up a bit to use the telescope,” Sans said with a smile.\n“Using a telescope, here? But we’re in a cave!” Eris exclaimed.\n“true, but sometimes seeing the sky of shiny stones in the sky would be like being able to see the starry sky. No matter who!” Eris threatened the group after washing her eye to remove the red paint.\nAfter advancing a little through the cave, they found themselves in an area where the water kept falling as if it were a perfect rain.\n“Great, now there is rain inside a cave?” Eris asked. “Now all that's left is for thunder to fall.”\n“Don't jinx us now, okay?” Nami asked.\n“We could use this.” The human said, pointing to a bucket full of umbrellas.\n“Now that’s timely,” Noka said.\n“Well, you know the saying: never look a gift horse in the mouth,” Gida said.\nThe group each grabbed an umbrella and started to make their way through the rainy cavern. It wasn’t long before they came across the little monster in a small cavern sheltering from the rain.\n“Yo, you got some umbrellas?” the monster asked. “Could I tag with you, please? I want to keep going, but with this rain, I’ll end up soaked, and as you can see, I don’t have any hands to use an umbrella.”\nEris sighed at the question, but the human accepted the monster’s proposal.\n“Awesome!” The young monster exclaimed, standing next to the human.\n“But don’t cause trouble. She doesn’t care that he’s the king’s right-hand man. Undyne is only loyal to the king, and she proves it every day! Every fight against them is spectacular!”\n“I see,” Eris said. At least they knew that Undyne would never cooperate with those monsters if need be. Also, she wondered why this monster was still calling this Undyne ‘her’.\n“By the way, what’s your name?” Nami asked.\n“My name is Kid, but everyone calls me MK. You know, for Monster Kid.” MK said.\n“I understand,” Nami said with a smile.\nAs they continued through the cavern, the group could see what looked like a large palace in the distance.\n“Is that where we need to go?” Eris asked, looking at the castle.\n“It seems so,” Nami said. “Can you imagine how huge it must be if we can see it from here?”\n“I hope it’s not a labyrinth or anything like that,” Noka said.\n“Well, that just means we’re still a long way from our destination,” Catilia said.\nThe group continued forward with MK accompanying them until they reached a high ledge.\n“Hey, this ledge is way too steep...” MK said.\n“Excuse me,” Eris said, grabbing the human child and jumping onto the ledge, soon followed by the others. She then looked at the little monster. “Shall I carry you up?”\n“Thanks, but don’t worry. You guys go ahead. I always find a way to get through!” MK exclaimed before walking away.\n“We could have helped him,” Noka said.\n“He probably wanted to do things on his own without any help from anyone,” Gida said. “I would also try to be able to do things on my own if I didn’t have arms.”\n“Well, knowing our luck, we’ll meet him later. On that bridge, they soon encountered strange bats that were waiting for them. It was clear that these bats were dangerous monsters like the others.\nBut the most surprising thing was that they flew away after a while without a fight.\n“Okay, that's weird,” Eris said.\nNoka then noticed something and pulled Eris with the Force, just as a spear of energy protruded from the ground.\n“Oh, you have to be kidding!” Nami exclaimed looking down.\nRight below them was Undyne using a bridge below them, this time throwing spears from below that crossed the bridge.\n“You’re a freaking stalker, you know that?!” Eris asked.\n“Run!” The human exclaimed as it started to run, before being picked up by Nami.\nThe group began to run across the bridge as fast as they could, avoiding the attacks of Undyne who protruded from the ground with hardly any warning to react.\n“This is like a minefield!” Noka exclaimed as she ran.\n“Except the mines are constantly changing position!” Gida said as she fled.\nThe group continued to run across the bridge as fast as they could with Undyne following them relentlessly. For a moment they managed to lose their pursuer, but unfortunately, they found that the path they had taken led to a dead end. Just a long drop.\n“Damn it! There is no way out!” Catilia exclaimed.\nThe group tried to retreat, only to find Undyne blocking the way. With no other choice, Eris and the others put themselves between the armored figure and the human, ready to face their enemy.\nBut Undyne simply summoned several spears that destroyed part of the bridge, causing everyone to fall into the abyss.\n \n“It sounds like it came from over here…”\n“Oh! But before she could think of how to get out, she felt like there was a figure stalking her in the darkness, avoiding her sight.\nWithout the slightest warning, the figure rushed towards her, grabbing her by the back. At that moment she could see that it was a shadowy figure, lacking form or appearance, but at least it had a humanoid form.\nEris was surprised that this being had caught her by surprise, but what surprised her more was that the figure grabbed her in a very specific way: with one hand on her chest, and the other hand on her groin.\nWith apparent tentativeness and coldness, the figure began to massage her chest and groin. The warrior simply generated a spear of energy and calmly threw it at Eris who caught it in flight.\nGida and Noka were about to jump to help Eris, but Catilia and Nami stopped them by shaking their heads. She wouldn't want them to help her after engaging in this duel against Undyne.\n“Alphys told me humans were determined,” Undyne said, preparing to attack. “Both of you also seem to be determined in your own way.”\nAt that moment Undyne attacked Eris forcing her to block her attacks. But this time she was faster than before, managing to cause a few scratches on Eris despite her efforts.\n“I see now what she meant by that! Just before the spear reached Eris, Eris grabbed it with both lower hands, stopping Undyne in her tracks.\nUndyne looked at what was happening with some confusion, noticing that Eris's arms were covered in energy as she held the spear. Undyne tried to force her to let go of the spear, but it seemed to be in vain.\nThen Eris roared furiously, splitting the spear of energy in two and making it disappear. Then that same energy covered the rest of her body and with a furious roar, she broke free from the green aura that held her in place.\nGida, Noka, and the human were surprised to see how Eris stopped Undyne's attack and freed herself from the green aura, although they could also see that this effort seemed to have taken its toll on her body.\n“Well then! My turn!” Eris exclaimed, launching herself at Undyne at high speed.\nUndyne had no time to react and was grabbed by Eris’ lower arms, who began to push her back with force, at the same time she began to punch her with the upper fists and hit her with other blows now that she was within reach, but she was not far behind and also responded with punches and kicks alike as she tried to get free of her hold.\nThe group saw how both began to move away from the place, beginning to chase them as fast as they could, although if they went too far it was easy to follow them: the cloud of dust they left behind with their fight was visible from quite a distance. IS THAT YOU?” A familiar voice sounded through the phone.\n“Papyrus?” Nami asked.\n“YES! YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY NUMBERS I CALLED TO FIND THIS ONE,” Papyrus said, making the girls roll their eyes.\n“And for what?” Noka asked, not believing that they were talking to him right now.\n“JUST TO SUGGEST THAT YOU, ME, AND UNDYNE MEET AT HER HOUSE LATER, AFTER I’M DONE TALKING TO MY BROTHER!”\nThe girls looked at each other in disbelief.\n“Uh, where are you now?” the human asked.\n“I’M AT THE HOTLAND BORDER WITH SANS, PAST THE BIG WELCOME SIGN,” Papyrus said, causing everyone to look at each other.\nJust as he said, Papyrus was talking on the phone while standing at a lookout post where Sans was lounging around, in a place surrounded by lava and red-hot rocks.\n“Well, look. If it’s any consolation, Eris and Undyne are heading there right now.” Catilia said.\nAt that moment, Papyrus and Sans heard an explosion coming from the pass between Waterfall and Hotland, and when they looked to see what it was, they saw Eris and Undyne hitting each other while pushing each other through the pass. Papyrus let out a loud scream of terror as he saw the two of them heading in his direction, jumping right behind the lookout post and hiding in it.\nAs they both passed by the lookout post, Papyrus and Sans raised their heads from their hiding place, looking with confused faces in the direction the two girls headed, just as the rest of the group passed by them.\nFinally, they both stopped dragging each other, standing facing each other, both with visible signs of physical exhaustion, about to faint from exhaustion, but both remained firm in their duel without moving.\nThe group, now accompanied by Papyrus and Sans, stopped, seeing the two staring at each other.\n“How about we finish this right now?” Eris asked with a smile after catching her breath, clenching her upper fist with the strength she had left.\n“I’m right with that!” Undyne exclaimed, smiling and doing the same with her fist.\nUndyne and Eris stared at each other as they prepared for the next attack, which would be the last in this duel. IMPOSSIBLE!!!” Papyrus put his hands on his head and his eyes widened.\n“someone's going to be upset when she wakes up,” Sans said, pointing at Undyne.\n“And not just her,” Catilia said worriedly, scratching her head.\n \nDeep within the castle in New Home, a figure completely covered in a black robe that hid his appearance walked through the halls of the castle, passing by several monsters that retreated to the walls when this figure passed.\nThe mysterious being continued walking to a room completely covered in yellow flowers, with a huge figure in the center of them watering them with a watering can.\n“Your Highness?” The mysterious being addressed the figure, who seemed to be ignoring him. “ASGORE!”\nThat sudden shout made the huge figure startle and turn around, directing his gaze at the mysterious being.\n“Ah, Duke. Is something wrong?” The huge figure asked the being he called as the Duke, before returning to watering the flowers around him.\n“Your Highness. I’m bringing news from the nearby territories.” The Duke said to the huge being, who turned out to be Asgore. “It seems that a strange group has been sighted crossing Snowdin, in addition to being sighted by Waterfall. A rather peculiar group according to my sources.”\n“More stray monsters? Interesting. It seems that both you and your guards no longer possess the exclusive right of being initially foreigners, my good Duke.” Asgore joked.\n“Whatever you say.” The Duke said without flinching. “It also seems that someone rather interesting is traveling with this group… A human child to be precise.”\nAsgore stopped watering the flowers, standing still. “Are you sure?”\n“If that’s the case, Your Highness, it could be our chance to acquire the seventh human soul. And thus acquire the divine power you crave.” The Duke explained.\nAsgore was thoughtful for a moment. “Are you sure it was a human? I don’t want to give people false hopes about this matter. Besides, if it trully is in Waterfall, Undyne will surely take care of the matter.”\n“Undyne? Your Highness, forgive me for disagreeing, but I must remind you that Undyne has caused many casualties among my servants! Not to mention that she has antagonized me from the beginning.” The Duke said. “I still don’t understand why you still keep her as captain of the Royal Guard!”\n“Because she’s the best of all of us,” Asgore said. “And even if you’re my royal advisor, I don’t plan on changing my mind on that matter. You just recovered.” Nami said with the cup in her hand.\n“Are you serious?” Eris asked, raising an eyebrow. Suddenly Nami pulled Eris’s ear, causing her to groan at the tug. “Fine, fine! Whatever you say! I’ll drink it!”\nUndyne and the human watched tensely as the catwoman was able to subdue Eris, forcing her to take the cup and sit down.\n“You have a knack for controlling her, seeing how hot-tempered she is,” Undyne commented.\n“When it comes to raising a child whose race is supposed to be untamable, you learn a few things,” Catilia said, leaning back in her chair. \n“I have a question. How did you know what we were?” Eris asked after taking a sip of the tea.\n“We have our doubts, but I think the answer lies there about you, Eris,” Gida said pointing to a book on a shelf, while Noka beat Sans with a good hand, making him perplexed.\nEris looked at the shelf, finding an edition of [Monster Girl Encyclopedia II]\n“What? Where did you get that book?” Eris asked, confused.\n“It’s a copy of one of Alphys’ history books that she lent me,” Undyne said.\n“History book?” Eris asked, doubting if she was right in the head, thinking to herself. ‘As far as I know, it’s a monster encyclopedia, not a historical book.’\n“I tried to take a look at that book to find out more about you, but Catilia scolded me for it.” The human said, rubbing its ear.\n“That book isn’t for children, no matter how you look at it!” Catilia exclaimed seriously.\n“Honestly, that was fun! Seriously, you’re just as weak as Asgore!!” Undyne said smiling.\nEris sighed. “Seriously, every time we hear about Asgore, it’s always something different. He’s a demon, he’s a good guy… Let’s see if you can clear things up a bit, my head already hurts with so many contradictory descriptions!”\nAfter a while in silence, Undyne sighed deeply.\n“Y’ know, I was a pretty hotheaded kid,” Undyne said. “Almost the same as your friend.” She pointed at Eris. “Once, to prove that I was the strongest, I tried to fight Asgore.”\nEveryone turned their gaze to Undyne at that moment. “Emphasis on tried. Especially if you’re going to face the Duke and his minions.”\nUndyne then smirked. “Though having fought her, I can only give her one piece of advice!”\nEris sighed. “And what’s that advice?”\n“Don't overexert yourself,” Undyne said. “I saw in one of Alphys’ history books that there was at least one human with a power similar to yours, and with the same problem.”\n‘Who knows what history book it was.’ Eris thought.\n“What you should do is use that power, but not to the limit of its effect, but try to keep it at an intermediate point, where you can make use of that increase in strength without straining your muscles,” Undyne said. “Like on the bridge, when you jumped to save the human and that monster. If you do that, you probably shouldn’t have that problem again. Although I would suggest using that at full power in extreme cases!”\nEris was thoughtful after Undyne’s advice, until she thought of something from before.\n“By the way, before you named me as ‘half-Tyranid’.” She commented. “What’s that?”\n“Ah, for what I know, a monster that appeared on Alphys’ books.” Undyne said. “You’re much like them, at least on your arms, legs, and tail.”\nEris simply remained silent.\nSuddenly Gida and Noka turned their gaze towards the wall of the entrance door. Undyne quickly noticed this, jumping over the table towards the human.\n“Duck!” Undyne exclaimed, taking the human to the ground.\nEveryone threw themselves to the ground, just as a scythe burst through the wall, spinning at full speed, just inches away from reaching the human. When avoiding it, the scythe collided with the kitchen of the house, causing it to go up in flames along with the rest of the house.\n“WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!” Papyrus asked as he stood up from the fire.\n“Who threw that thing?” Catilia asked.\nUndyne stood up, looking at the scythe embedded in the kitchen. “I know that weapon!” Undyne exclaimed furiously. “That barbarian, the nerve!”\nUndyne ran out of the house, followed by everyone because the house was no longer a safe place with the fire.\nOutside the burning house, they came across a group of skeletons in black robes with sickles in their hands.\n“Who are these?” Eris asked, looking at the skeletons.\n“Reapers,” Undyne answered with a frown. “They are his lackeys.”\n“Of who?” Noka asked.\nAt that moment the reapers stepped aside, letting a figure larger than the others pass, apparently the skeleton of an ape with a black robe that covered much of its body, barely showing remains of purple bracers with claws, whose skeletal face was adorned by a green jewel in one of the eyes with a sinister red glow in the hollow eye.\n“It seems that I have missed the throw.” Said the skeletal ape.\n“Who is that?” Gida asked.\n“ladies, may I introduce you to death.” Said Sans.\n“Death? As the grim reaper?” Nami asked.\n“Yes. And let's say that if I am the leader of the Royal Guard of Asgore, this unpresentable being is the leader of the Duke's guard.” Said Undyne.\n“What? Is he his right hand?” Asked Noka.\n“Yes, and there is no need to guess why he is here,” Undyne said, glancing sideways at the human, who was hiding behind Papyrus.\n“Befriending a human? How low has fallen the great Undyne.” Death mocked.\n“Says the one who doesn’t seem to have a brain in that skull of yours, because if you did you’d know it’s a very bad idea to attack me in my home!” Undyne exclaimed, generating a spear in her hands.\n“Unfortunately for you, my master is aware of the human’s existence, and has personally sent me to bring it before him.” Death said. “Or in the case of giving many troubles, its soul at least.”\nEris clenched her fists in preparation for a fight. “Well, you’ll have to get over us first, bone-face!”\n“bone-face. At the same time, Eris dodged the sickle of one of the reapers before landing a couple of blows on it and sending it flying to the ground.\nCatilia blocked several of the reapers’ attacks with her sword before cleaving them in half with a single slash, while Nami dedicated herself to avoiding the reapers’ attacks, attacking at every opportunity she had.\nAt the same time, Gida and Noka stood back to back holding off the reapers with their lightsabers, taking out those they could while fending off their attackers.\nMeanwhile, Papyrus and Sans stayed close to the human, keeping him away from any reapers that might try to get close. Though it seemed like Papyrus was the one doing all the restraining work, Sans barely did anything to help the situation.\nWhen Undyne got rid of the reapers harassing her, she turned her gaze to Death, who simply tempted her with one hand. Taking the bait, Undyne leaped at him, her spear repeatedly clashing with Death's scythe, though he didn't back down from her attacks.\n“You’ve always wanted to fight me since day one, Undyne. Unfortunately for you, that wish has been granted.” Death said as he pushed his scythe against Undyne’s spear.\n“You know what? You’ve taken the words out of my mouth!” Undyne pushed her spear against her enemy’s scythe.\nEris grabbed one of the reapers attacking her and threw him at the others, freeing herself from them, at which point she turned her gaze to the duel between Undyne and Death. She charged into the battle without thinking.\n“Leave me something too!” Eris exclaimed before ending up next to Death and kicking him in the side, pushing him away from Undyne. “Is there any problem if I help you?”\n“Be my guest!” Undyne exclaimed, pointing her spear at Death, who grabbed his scythe with both hands before attacking them.\nAt that moment, MK had sneaked off to head to Undyne's house after learning that both she and the group that was with the human were at their house after a tough fight, but upon arriving he saw how both Undyne and Eris' group were facing Death's minions, the latter included in a great battle in front of the burning house, being amazed by the fight.\nWhile the rest of the group protected the human from the reapers with the help of Papyrus and Sans, Undyne and Eris dodged Death's slashing attacks with his scythe, taking advantage of every opportunity they had to attack him.\nIn the middle of the fight, Death raised his hand, causing several sickles to appear around him, and with another gesture he threw them at Eris and Undyne, forcing them to dodge them, although Eris managed to catch one and throw it back at Death, but he simply blocked it with one of his bracers.\nBoth breathed after the last attack. Undyne generated a second energy spear and lent it to Eris who, after a little hesitation, decided to take it. Using spears was not her specialty, but with this enemy, any help was welcomed.\nBoth armed, Eris and Undyne jumped on Death, who simply dedicated himself to blocking the spears of both without even retreating. Finally, Death pushed them back, throwing both to the ground.\n“Simply pathetic.” Death said as he slowly advanced. “The fish woman will not be useful to us in death. But perhaps the soul of the hellhound can be useful to my master.” Death raised his scythe ready to attack.\nBut suddenly he screamed in surprise, looking at his legs. Eris and Undyne looked too, seeing how MK was biting his leg with his mouth.\n“What the hell are you doing here?!” Eris asked upon seeing MK.\n“Leave them alone, bully!” MK exclaimed as he bit Death’s leg.\n“Damn insect! Let go immediately!” Death shook his leg until he managed to free himself from its bite and throw it to the ground.\nOn the ground, MK saw Death approaching him angrily. “Bad-mannered brat. You deserve punishment for your audacity!” He said angrily, raising his scythe.\nBut before he could do anything, two energy spears pierced Death's body, leaving him surprised by what had happened and turned his head to see Eris running straight towards him with her upper fist glowing with energy.\n“Go back to your grave, ape-face!” Eris exclaimed, throwing her punch at Death's head.\nThe punch had such impact and so much force that it destroyed Death's skull, who, upon retreating several steps, began to shake while a large amount of energy came out of where the skull was before until the entire body vanished without a trace.\nAs soon as Death fell, the rest of the reapers fled as quickly as they could, offering the group a respite when the battle ended.\nMK looked around for a moment until he saw Eris step in front of him, seemingly furious.\n“That was very dangerous, young boy!” Eris said seriously. “You know what?” the human asked. “For some reason, Flowey called me by that same name…”
They looked at the human at that moment. From his words, it was clear that that wasn't his name. But the fact that Flowey called him like that earlier, was that him speaking?
No, it can't be, because the voice that was heard was not that of that flower. Clearly, there is something that doesn't fit here.
But that wasn't what worried Eris. Whatever had happened in that place, in that station... It was clear that that figure was trying to subdue her to his will, and that he somehow knew what keys to try to press to do so. Unfortunately for that mysterious figure, a hellhound doesn't submit so easily to anyone and even less on the first date. And much less a hellbeast like her.
Even though she wanted to know what was going on, it was clear that they still had more important things to do. And even more so with Undyne hot on their heels.
“Okay, let's leave this place before that mountain of steel finds us again,” Eris said. “Does anyone know where we are?”
“From the looks of it…” Gida began to look around. “It seems that we are in a landfill or something.”
Just as the Twi-lek said, they had apparently fallen into a landfill, surrounded by trash. And from the amount of trash there was, it must have been piling up there for quite some time. Especially from the look of some of the objects that were there, as they apparently seemed to have been built in different years and times.
“It seems that even here they have problems with trash,” Noka said.
“Come on, let’s get out of here as soon as possible,” Eris said.
The group began to walk through the trash that seemed to constantly fall down the waterfall next to it, while other parts of the trash fell into the abyss nearby.
It wasn’t long before they passed by some sort of abandoned mannequin, completely ignoring it. Suddenly they heard a splash behind them, causing them to turn around. But they saw nothing there, not even the mannequin. As soon as they turned their gaze forward they found the mannequin, which seemed to be alive, and looking at them with murderous eyes, startling Nami as she was the closest to the mannequin that had appeared without warning, backing away a little.
“Do you really think you can just leave????” The doll asked as it floated above the water.
“And what are you supposed to be?” Eris asked.
“I’m a ghost living inside a dummy.” The possessed mannequin said. “My cousin used to live inside a dummy, too. Until… YOU CAME ALONG!” He exclaimed, pointing at the human.
“What did it do to your cousin?”
“What did it do? What did it do?! Well… well… WELL, I DON’T FEEL LIKE SAYING IT NOW!!!” The mannequin exclaimed, startled.
“Hey, calm down a bit, okay?” Gida asked.
“I DON’T FEEL LIKE CALMING DOWN!!” The possessed mannequin exclaimed, enraged. “I plan to scare that human’s soul out of its body!! And yours too if you get in the way!!!!”
Suddenly Eris grabbed the mannequin by the ‘neck’ and stared at him.
“Now listen to me carefully, ghost!” Eris began to speak angrily. “You have no idea what we’ve been through since we got here! I crossed a portal; I had to put up with the antics of two skeletons, each one weirder than the last; someone has been chasing us the whole time since we got here; those murderous monsters jump on us every chance they get… and yet we’re still halfway to our destination!”
Eris brought the mannequin’s face closer to hers.
“So don’t mind if I don’t have time to deal with a ghost with anger issues who has a problem with a human! So do me a favor… and calm down a bit!” Eris threw the possessed mannequin into the air, causing it to crash hard into the trash.
The mannequin’s eyes began to spin in shock from the tremendous blow it had taken against the trash, while the girls and the human boy looked at it somewhat tensely from what had happened.
“And she said he had anger issues.” The human commented after what Eris did.
“Come on, let’s go!” Eris ordered as she started walking out of the dump.
“At least she didn’t say anything about us,” Noka said to Gida, while the rest followed the hellbeast.
 
Not long after leaving the dump, the group found themselves in what looked like a small town. Not as large as Snowdin, but still habitable.
Searching for a route to follow, the group entered a small mine where they saw a strange symbol, made up of three triangles, a circle, and two wings, that was engraved on the wall.
“Oh, you’re interested in that symbol, aren’t you?!” asked an old turtle dressed as an explorer, and from his voice, you could tell he was male.
“I’m curious, what is that symbol?” asked the human.
“Oh, that symbol is the Delta Rune, the emblem of our kingdom.” said the old turtle. “In fact, it predates even this kingdom, although its original meaning was lost to time.”
“Meaning?” asked Nami, looking at the symbol.
“Yes. All we know is that the triangles symbolize us monsters below and the winged circle above symbolizes… somethin’ else.” answered the turtle.
“What exactly?” Eris asked, crossing her arms.
“Most people say it’s the ‘angel’, from the prophecy…” The old man answered.
“Prophecy?” The human asked.
“Legend has it, an ‘angel’ who has seen the surface will descend from above and bring us freedom.” The turtle explained.
“A savior angel, huh?” Eris asked, glancing at the human.
“Lately, people have been taking a bleaker outlook…” The turtle began to speak, catching everyone’s attention. “Callin’ that winged circle the ‘Angel of Death.’ A harbinger of destruction, waitin’ to ‘free’ us from this mortal realm…”
Eris frowned upon hearing his words. She had the strange feeling that sooner or later she would find out the true meaning of the Delta Rune.
“Well, by the way, sir, do you know where to get to New Home?” Gida asked.
“Oh, it’s simple! You just have to continue through the cave further ahead. You'll have to pass Hotland, but once you've passed that place you'll reach the capital without any problems.” The old man answered.
“Good. Let's get out of here before Undyne finds us.” Catilia said.
“Oh, Undyne, you say?” The turtle said. “She passed by here not long ago, asking about a group that looked just like yours. I'd watch your back, kids.”
“Thanks for the warning…” Nami said.
 
The group continued their way through the caverns, which became darker by the moment, making it even very difficult to see what was in front of them, taking extra precautions in case of any surprise attack in the darkness.
Any enemy could have taken advantage of that moment of advantage in the absolute darkness to attack the group or even capture the human without them noticing. But fortunately, they didn't have any troublesome encounters. Just a few native monsters hoping to get lucky in capturing the human child, but having the same problems as the group in moving through the darkness.
Going a little further, they came across what seemed to be a dead end, with only a blue flower, an echo flower, in the place, from which a voice rang out.
“Behind you.”
Everyone immediately turned around protecting the human as the light rose, revealing Undyne approaching them.
“Seven.” Undyne began to speak through the helmet which seemed to distort the voice. “Seven human souls. With the power of seven human souls, our king… King Asgore Dreemur… will become a god.”
“With that power, Asgore can finally shatter the barrier.” Undyne continued to speak, as Gida and Noka prepared to grab their lightsabers. “He will finally take the surface back from humanity, and give them back the suffering and pain that we have endured.”
Eris frowned, while Catilia kept a grip on the handle of her sword while Nami kept the human behind her.
“Understand, human?” Undyne asked the human. “This is your only chance at redemption. Give up your soul, or I’ll tear it from your body.”
“First, you’ll have to pass over us, buddy,” Eris said, pounding her fists. “And you’ll have to use more than just spears to do it.”
Undyne simply prepared to launch her energy spear attack, charging at them. The group prepared to face Undyne at that moment.
“Undyne!!! I’ll help you fight!”
Suddenly and without warning, MK emerged from a nearby field of seaweed, putting himself in the middle between the group and Undyne.
MK looked around, realizing what was happening.
“YO!!! You did it!!! Undyne is right in front of you!!!” MK exclaimed, looking at the human. “You’ve got front row seats to her fight!!!”
The girls and the human almost collapsed to the ground comically, while Undyne made no reaction.
Eris quickly pulled herself together, rubbing her forehead with her hand thoughtfully with her eyes closed as she turned to Undyne. “Uh… Could you be so kind as to take this kid away before he ends up getting beaten everywhere, please?”
Without saying a word, Undyne grabbed MK by the cheek and began to pull him away from the place.
“H-hey! You aren’t gonna tell my parents about this, are you?” MK asked as he was pulled by Undyne.
When they both disappeared, Eris sighed deeply.
“Please tell me I wasn’t like this when I was young,” Eris said, shaking her head and looking down, while Nami and Catilia shook their heads doubtfully.
The group continued down a path that had been revealed by the light that covered the room, leading them through more corridors and tunnels surrounded by water. They soon arrived and crossed a bridge that led them to the other side of a deep chasm, when they heard a voice behind them.
“Yo!”
The group turned around, finding MK on the other side of the bridge, who approached them.
“What do you want now?” Eris asked, crossing her arms.
“Hey, I know I’m not supposed to be here, but… I wanna ask you something.” MK said, addressing the human, but he seemed somewhat hesitant with his words. “Man, I’ve never had to ask this before…”
The group stared at MK who tried to have the strength to say what he had to say.
“Yo… You’re human, right?” MK asked the human, who nodded for a moment. “Man! I knew it! … well, I know it now, I mean… Undyne told me, um, ‘stay away from that human and the people with him.’”
MK looked to the side for a moment. “So, like, ummm… I guess that makes us enemies or something. But I kinda stink at that.” He said before laughing weakly.
“Look, I don’t think that’s necessary,” Catilia said. “I don’t think you two need to be enemies, just because the kid is human.”
MK thought for a moment, his head down. “I’m… I’m gonna go home now.”
At that moment MK turned around and started to walk away, but then he tripped and fell off the side of the bridge, grabbing onto the boards with his mouth to keep from falling.
Everyone was startled to see what happened to MK and tried to go help him, but just then Undyne appeared on the other side of the bridge. The situation had become delicate between protecting the human, saving MK, and containing Undyne.
Without thinking, the human ran to where MK was and tried to help him, but unfortunately, a piece of the plank that the young monster was holding on to broke, causing him to fall into the pit, accidentally taking the human with him.
“Damn it!” Catilia exclaimed as she saw both of them fall into the abyss.
“Damn, just what we needed!” Eris exclaimed, jumping into the pit.
“And now the other one!” Noka exclaimed.
Diving, Eris managed to reach both the human and MK, whom she grabbed with her lower arms, and after making sure both were tightly held, she extended her upper arms to try to grab onto one of the walls of the pit that was nearby, using her claws on her hands and feet to slow down.
After stopping, Eris looked around, looking for a route to start climbing. She then realized that she would have to risk One For All if she wanted to get out of there with both children intact.
“Come on… don’t hurt yourself, don’t hurt yourself…” Eris said as she concentrated power in her legs, at least enough to gain momentum.
When she saw that she had enough, she used that strength to jump great distances in the pit and began to climb the walls of the pit back to the bridge, while everyone watched what was happening from there. But Nami and Catilia knew that even then Eris couldn’t reach the bridge, as it was too high for that.
When Eris rose high enough and was preparing for the last jump, she turned her gaze to the bridge.
“GIDA!” Eris exclaimed before jumping.
Gida was quick to realize what the hellbeast intended to do and what she needed, so she used the Force to propel her in mid-jump, allowing her to reach the bridge.
“Get him!” Taking the opportunity, Eris released MK just in time for him to fall into Undyne’s arms.
“Oh, my!” MK exclaimed, incredulous at what had happened.
When Eris landed on the bridge with the human, she gestured to Undyne with a smile as she and the rest of the group walked away from the bridge, before the astonished gaze of both.
After moving away a little from there, the group stopped to breathe deeply, while Eris left the human on the ground, breathing in relief.
“Seriously, Eris. That was dangerous.” Nami said.
“Yeah, well, something had to be done at that moment,” Eris said, catching her breath and making sure her legs hadn’t been damaged by the effort.
“Good point,” Gida said, making Eris look at her. “You knew that by jumping you couldn’t reach the bridge, so you called me to help you with the Force.”
“Well, if you can move things with that Force, maybe you could lift me higher in mid-jump,” Eris said, before smiling. “Thank you.”
“It’s nothing.” The Twi-lek said. “You know, I used to think you were just a beast who only thought about fighting. But now you’ve shown me to be quick on your feet and mind, being the first to act when they both fell.”
“I accept the compliment,” Eris said, soon looking at the human. “And are you okay?”
The human nodded.
The group breathed a sigh of relief for a moment, before looking ahead.
“Well, time to continue,” Nami said, everyone nodding.
 
The group continued to advance along the route, and it didn't take long for them to reach a rocky pass that crossed a kind of mountain, a bit strange since they were underground.
But before continuing to advance, the human pointed to the top, and everyone looked, finding Undyne looking at the horizon.
“Seven.” Undyne began to speak. “Seven human souls, and King Asgore will become a god.”
The group remained silent without saying anything, keeping their gaze on the armored figure.
“Six.” Undyne continued to say, turning to the side. “That’s how many we have collected thus far.” She said before turning to them. “Understand? Through its seventh and final soul, this world will be transformed.” She said pointing to the human.
Then Undyne turned away. “First, however, as is customary for those who make it this far… I shall tell you the tragic tale of our people.”
“It all started, long ago…” Undyne started to say, but then fell silent until she started to speak again.
“No, you know what? SCREW IT!” Undyne screamed at the top of her lungs. “WHY SHOULD I TELL THAT STORY WHEN YOU’RE ABOUT TO FALL DOWN!?! NGAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”
Undyne then turned around, taking off her helmet and letting it fall to the ground, exposing her identity as she turned to the group, revealing herself to be a female humanoid fish-like creature with blue scales and long, bright red ponytailed hair, one yellow sclera eye with black vertical pulp, and a patch over her left eye. From her features, it was clear that she was a female.
Eris simply frowned seeing Undine’s face,
“YOU! You are standing in the way of everyone’s hopes and dreams!” Undyne exclaimed. “And you, human… Alphis’ history books made me think you humans were cool… with those giant robots and flowery swordswomen.”
Everyone was confused by Undyne’s words, not understanding anything.
“BUT YOU? You’re just a coward! Hiding behind them so you could be safe! And let’s not forget your wimpy goody-two-shoes-schtick!” Undyne exclaimed angrily.
“Hey, you!” Eris exclaimed. “If you’re going to keep ranting about a child, come down here and face me!”
Undyne turned her gaze towards Eris and the rest of the group.
“Honestly, I never thought I'd see such a motley group roaming the underworld,” Undyne said, pointing at them with her finger.
“A half-Tyranid hellhound.” Eris frowned, but raised an eyebrow by hearing that name from her..
“A Blade.” Nami looked surprised.
“A Servant.” Catilia stared at her.
“A Twi-lek.” Gida arched an eyebrow.
“And a Togruta.” Noka took a step back in surprise. “Both Jedi.”
“Honestly, I'm surprised to see such a group protecting the human. Truly fascinating.” Said Undyne, before turning her gaze to Eris. “And you, with your risky action earlier, saving both that child and the human at the same time… it just shows that you have what it takes to be a hero.” Undyne crossed her arms. “Too bad it’s focused on the wrong way.”
“I don't think so,” Eris said. “Let me tell you something: A hero does what is good, but a true hero does the right thing, no matter what it is.”
Undyne looked at her in surprise. “Who said that phrase?”
“The greatest hero history has ever made,” Eris said with a smile.
Undyne looked at her for a moment, before laughing at the top of her lungs for several seconds, before turning her gaze fiercely.
“No matter what it is, huh? So be it, for I intend to do what is right for our race!” Undyne exclaimed. “That human’s life is all that stands between us and our freedom!”
Undyne clenched her fist tightly. “Right now, I can feel everyone’s hearts pounding together! Everyone’s been waiting their whole lives for this moment! But we’re not nervous at all. When everyone puts their hearts together, they can’t lose!”
“Nice speech, miss,” Eris said, keeping her smile.
“Will you stop cheering her on?” Nami asked Eris.
“Alright! Let’s see, here and now, who possesses the greater determination!” Undyne leaped off the mountain, landing on the ground on her legs and summoning an energy spear in her hand. “Your determination to protect the human, against my determination to free my people!”
“So be it!” Eris exclaimed, her eyes lighting up into fierce flames.
Gida and Noka prepared to fight, but Eris extended one of her arm.
“Leave it to me. You two make sure nothing happens to the lad.” Eris said confidently.
“Are you seriously going to face her alone?” Noka asked.
“Leave it to her,” Catilia said with a hand on her head. “We rarely see her like this, but when she gets like this, there’s nothing that can change her mind.”
Undyne frowned with a smile. “En guarde!”
Eris rushed at Undyne, throwing several punches at her head, but she nimbly dodged them before trying to attack with her spear, being dodged by the hellbeast at the last moment and retreating to face her.
But then Undyne waved her spear in Eris’ direction, causing her to be covered in a green aura and unable to move.
“What the hell?” Eris asked.
“As long as you’re green you can’t escape,” Undyne said. “Unless you learn to face danger head-on…” She generated a second spear of energy and threw it, stabbing it into the ground within Eris’ reach. “You won’t last a second against me!”
Undyne charged at Eris, who was forced to grab the spear and use it to defend herself from several of Undyne’s frontal attacks.
“Not bad!” Undyne exclaimed after backing up a bit. “How about this?!”
Undyne charged at Eris again, who was forced to block the frontal attacks, but Undyne quickly jumped to the side to attack her from the side, forcing her to defend herself from that side until the warrior woman jumped on top of her to land behind her and attack her from behind. But Eris was agile enough to block said blows.
“For years, we’ve dreamed of a happy ending…” Undyne said before continuing with her attacks while keeping Eris on the defensive. “And now, sunlight is just within our reach! I won’t let you snatch it away from us!”
Undyne continued her attacks against Eris, but she seemed to be starting to get the hang of Undine's attacks and how to handle the spear, at least enough to be able to force her to change her attack routine with sporadic thrusts, although these were dodged by Undyne.
“NGAHHH! Enough warming up!” Undyne exclaimed, launching another flurry of attacks against Eris, this time being more aggressive than the other times.
But just at that moment, the green aura surrounding Eris vanished, allowing her to dodge the attack, throwing the spear at Undyne who simply caught it in flight and dematerialized it.
At that moment Eris ran directly towards her, throwing several blows with her four fists at her, and at least one of them hit her stomach, something that Undyne noticed, but that did not stop her attacks. Even when she used her four arms to attack her every way possible, Undyne was able to avoid the most part of the hits, only hitting her with surprise attacks.
Then Eris lunged at Undyne, forcing her to use her spear as a shield while the hellbeast also grabbed the spear with her four hands, starting a fight to push each other, until both of them attacked each other with a strong headbutt. But both of them moaned from the blow and moved away from each other with their hands on their heads. Even the rest of the group grimaced in pain after seeing the blow they gave each other.
“I don’t know where the idea that headbutts are a good idea came from!” Undyne exclaimed angrily.
“Yeah, I’m with you about that,” Eris said, complaining about the blow.
Undyne then smiled after looking at the human for a moment. “Honestly, I’m doing him a favor…”
“Really? In what way is that a favor?” Eris asked, attacking Undyne with her fists, even trying to kick her in the face, although she dodged them without problems.
“No human has ever made it past Asgore!” Undyne replied as she dodged Eris's attacks, responding with a spear strike, forcing her to jump to the side to avoid the attack. “Killing him now is an act of mercy!”
“I'm sorry, but it won't be like that!” Eris exclaimed, ready to pounce on her.
But at that moment Undyne once again covered Eris in a green aura, stopping her in place, which angered Eris as she raised an eyebrow at her. The warrior simply generated a spear of energy and calmly threw it at Eris who caught it in flight.
Gida and Noka were about to jump to help Eris, but Catilia and Nami stopped them by shaking their heads. She wouldn't want them to help her after engaging in this duel against Undyne.
“Alphys told me humans were determined,” Undyne said, preparing to attack. “Both of you also seem to be determined in your own way.”
At that moment Undyne attacked Eris forcing her to block her attacks. But this time she was faster than before, managing to cause a few scratches on Eris despite her efforts.
“I see now what she meant by that! But I’m determined too!” Undyne exclaimed, launching another flurry of attacks, putting Eris in trouble who had trouble keeping up with her pace. “Determined to end this right now!”
Undyne snapped her fingers and dismantled the weapon Eris was holding, leaving her defenseless even with the green aura.
“Hey, you cheater!” Eris exclaimed angrily.
“RIGHT NOW!” Undyne exclaimed.
Undyne pointed her spear at Eris, lunging at her to impale her with it. The girls prepared to rush to help her. But Eris did not shift her gaze to Undyne. Just before the spear reached Eris, Eris grabbed it with both lower hands, stopping Undyne in her tracks.
Undyne looked at what was happening with some confusion, noticing that Eris's arms were covered in energy as she held the spear. Undyne tried to force her to let go of the spear, but it seemed to be in vain.
Then Eris roared furiously, splitting the spear of energy in two and making it disappear. Then that same energy covered the rest of her body and with a furious roar, she broke free from the green aura that held her in place.
Gida, Noka, and the human were surprised to see how Eris stopped Undyne's attack and freed herself from the green aura, although they could also see that this effort seemed to have taken its toll on her body.
“Well then! My turn!” Eris exclaimed, launching herself at Undyne at high speed.
Undyne had no time to react and was grabbed by Eris’ lower arms, who began to push her back with force, at the same time she began to punch her with the upper fists and hit her with other blows now that she was within reach, but she was not far behind and also responded with punches and kicks alike as she tried to get free of her hold.
The group saw how both began to move away from the place, beginning to chase them as fast as they could, although if they went too far it was easy to follow them: the cloud of dust they left behind with their fight was visible from quite a distance. Even at times Eris and Undyne would roll on the ground when they lost their balance, but they would quickly throw themselves on top of each other, giving each other all kinds of blows without cutting a hair.
The encounter, and the chase, continued until they began to pass by a large sign that said “Welcome to Hotland!”, just when they heard the sound of a phone receiving a call, coming from the human.
He quickly began to search through his things, finding a phone and turning it on.
“HELLO! IS THAT YOU?” A familiar voice sounded through the phone.
“Papyrus?” Nami asked.
“YES! YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY NUMBERS I CALLED TO FIND THIS ONE,” Papyrus said, making the girls roll their eyes.
“And for what?” Noka asked, not believing that they were talking to him right now.
“JUST TO SUGGEST THAT YOU, ME, AND UNDYNE MEET AT HER HOUSE LATER, AFTER I’M DONE TALKING TO MY BROTHER!”
The girls looked at each other in disbelief.
“Uh, where are you now?” the human asked.
“I’M AT THE HOTLAND BORDER WITH SANS, PAST THE BIG WELCOME SIGN,” Papyrus said, causing everyone to look at each other.
Just as he said, Papyrus was talking on the phone while standing at a lookout post where Sans was lounging around, in a place surrounded by lava and red-hot rocks.
“Well, look. If it’s any consolation, Eris and Undyne are heading there right now.” Catilia said.
At that moment, Papyrus and Sans heard an explosion coming from the pass between Waterfall and Hotland, and when they looked to see what it was, they saw Eris and Undyne hitting each other while pushing each other through the pass. Papyrus let out a loud scream of terror as he saw the two of them heading in his direction, jumping right behind the lookout post and hiding in it.
As they both passed by the lookout post, Papyrus and Sans raised their heads from their hiding place, looking with confused faces in the direction the two girls headed, just as the rest of the group passed by them.
Finally, they both stopped dragging each other, standing facing each other, both with visible signs of physical exhaustion, about to faint from exhaustion, but both remained firm in their duel without moving.
The group, now accompanied by Papyrus and Sans, stopped, seeing the two staring at each other.
“How about we finish this right now?” Eris asked with a smile after catching her breath, clenching her upper fist with the strength she had left.
“I’m right with that!” Undyne exclaimed, smiling and doing the same with her fist.
Undyne and Eris stared at each other as they prepared for the next attack, which would be the last in this duel. The tension at that moment could be cut with a knife. After a while, the tension between them caused a flash between them, at which point they both lunged at each other, throwing their fists to end the duel.
In just a moment, both punches connected against both rivals in the face. For a moment nothing happened, until then the unthinkable happened:
Both Eris and Undyne fell to the ground unconscious, at the same time.
“A tie?!” Nami asked surprised.
“A TIE?!” Papyrus asked after her. “UNDYNE HAS TIED WITH SOMEONE?! IMPOSSIBLE!!!” Papyrus put his hands on his head and his eyes widened.
“someone's going to be upset when she wakes up,” Sans said, pointing at Undyne.
“And not just her,” Catilia said worriedly, scratching her head.
 
Deep within the castle in New Home, a figure completely covered in a black robe that hid his appearance walked through the halls of the castle, passing by several monsters that retreated to the walls when this figure passed.
The mysterious being continued walking to a room completely covered in yellow flowers, with a huge figure in the center of them watering them with a watering can.
“Your Highness?” The mysterious being addressed the figure, who seemed to be ignoring him. “ASGORE!”
That sudden shout made the huge figure startle and turn around, directing his gaze at the mysterious being.
“Ah, Duke. Is something wrong?” The huge figure asked the being he called as the Duke, before returning to watering the flowers around him.
“Your Highness. I’m bringing news from the nearby territories.” The Duke said to the huge being, who turned out to be Asgore. “It seems that a strange group has been sighted crossing Snowdin, in addition to being sighted by Waterfall. A rather peculiar group according to my sources.”
“More stray monsters? Interesting. It seems that both you and your guards no longer possess the exclusive right of being initially foreigners, my good Duke.” Asgore joked.
“Whatever you say.” The Duke said without flinching. “It also seems that someone rather interesting is traveling with this group… A human child to be precise.”
Asgore stopped watering the flowers, standing still. “Are you sure?”
“If that’s the case, Your Highness, it could be our chance to acquire the seventh human soul. And thus acquire the divine power you crave.” The Duke explained.
Asgore was thoughtful for a moment. “Are you sure it was a human? Not long ago we had reports of humans, and they were just monsters in disguise.”
“According to my sources, it is so.” The Duke replied. “Should I send my servants to capture him?”
“No,” Asgore replied. “I’d rather be sure that he’s a human. I don’t want to give people false hopes about this matter. Besides, if it trully is in Waterfall, Undyne will surely take care of the matter.”
“Undyne? Your Highness, forgive me for disagreeing, but I must remind you that Undyne has caused many casualties among my servants! Not to mention that she has antagonized me from the beginning.” The Duke said. “I still don’t understand why you still keep her as captain of the Royal Guard!”
“Because she’s the best of all of us,” Asgore said. “And even if you’re my royal advisor, I don’t plan on changing my mind on that matter. As for whether it’s a human or not, let’s wait. If in Hotland it’s confirmed that it’s a human, then you can take action on the matter.”
Asgore watered the flowers again. “In the meantime, stay tuned for more information about this mysterious group.”
“As you wish, Your Highness.” The Duke said before turning around.
When the Duke left the room, he began to talk to himself.
“Damn big hairy crowned fool… Having to serve such an incompetent drives me crazy! If I were the one ruling, it would be a different story!” The Duke cursed. “We have a golden opportunity, and he let it slip away just in case it isn’t.”
Then the Duke turned his head to one side of the hallway. “Because it’s a human, isn’t it?”
His gaze was directed towards a small yellow flower with a face that was behind a pillar.
“Yes, that’s right. Chara is with that group protecting him.” Flowey answered with a sinister smile.
“Chara, huh? Does it look that much like him?” The Duke asked Flowey, who remained silent. “It doesn’t matter. If His ‘Highness’ doesn’t plan to do anything about it, then I will take the Ancient and his soul.”
At that moment, a shadow spread to one side of the hallway, soon appearing a dark figure, of which only a green glow and a red glow could be seen at the height of the head.
“Head to Waterfall. Locate this group. If the Ancient is with them, bring it before me.” The Duke said to the shadow being. “If anyone gets in the way, get rid of it. And if that nuisance of Undyne is the one who interferes… Well, let's consider this coincidence as an act of treason, and do with her what we will do to that black dragon if we ever find him again.”
The shadowy figure nodded before moving at high speed through the shadows, startling the few monsters who managed to see his silhouette pass by, at the same time that Flowey disappeared underground.
 
Eris slowly began to open her eyes as she let out a small groan of pain. She soon realized that she was looking at a ceiling, meaning that she was in someone's house.
Suddenly she saw a figure with a creepy mask in front of her face, startling her.
And the next second Eris was standing up after giving a strong punch to the one wearing the mask, which broke with the blow, revealing it to be Sans who had his eyes spinning.
“worth it,” Sans said while he was stunned.
“What the hell is that about?” Eris asked angrily.
“Calm down. This is the third time you've had a run-in with him.”
Eris turned around, seeing Catilia sitting on a chair, and Gida and Noka playing cards with Papyrus on the floor, and Nami in the kitchen area of the house.
“Hey, this isn't Papyrus' house. Whose is it?” Eris asked.
“Guess it, young lady.” A familiar voice said and Eris turned her gaze towards the only table in the room, seeing the human boy sitting on a chair… and Undyne on another chair on the other side of the table. Eris almost jumped for her, but saw that what she was wearing was only a black tank top, blue jeans, and red boots. As well as some band-aids showing on her body.
“What just happened?” Eris asked.
“We tied,” Undyne answered, crossing her arms. “We hit each other and became unconscious. Your friends with the help of Papyrus and Sans brought us here.”
“We tied? Don’t mock me!” Eris cursed, putting a hand on her forehead. But then she noticed how her body barely hurt, and that was even though she remembered using One for All against Undyne.
“If you’re wondering, Undyne seems to possess the same potions that Papyrus used on you last time,” Catilia said.
“Yeah, I only use them in emergencies,” Undyne said, glancing at Eris out of the corner of her eye. “You’re welcome.” Eris didn’t say anything, but Undyne smirked. “But considering how I was at the end, I’m not surprised you needed it!”
“You wanna fight?” Eris asked with a clenched fist.
“NOT NOW, PLEASE!” Papyrus exclaimed, stepping between them.
Eris kept staring at Undyne until a cup appeared in front of her, held by Nami.
“Drink this and calm down, okay? You just recovered.” Nami said with the cup in her hand.
“Are you serious?” Eris asked, raising an eyebrow. Suddenly Nami pulled Eris’s ear, causing her to groan at the tug. “Fine, fine! Whatever you say! I’ll drink it!”
Undyne and the human watched tensely as the catwoman was able to subdue Eris, forcing her to take the cup and sit down.
“You have a knack for controlling her, seeing how hot-tempered she is,” Undyne commented.
“When it comes to raising a child whose race is supposed to be untamable, you learn a few things,” Catilia said, leaning back in her chair.
“I have a question. How did you know what we were?” Eris asked after taking a sip of the tea.
“We have our doubts, but I think the answer lies there about you, Eris,” Gida said pointing to a book on a shelf, while Noka beat Sans with a good hand, making him perplexed.
Eris looked at the shelf, finding an edition of [Monster Girl Encyclopedia II]
“What? Where did you get that book?” Eris asked, confused.
“It’s a copy of one of Alphys’ history books that she lent me,” Undyne said.
“History book?” Eris asked, doubting if she was right in the head, thinking to herself. ‘As far as I know, it’s a monster encyclopedia, not a historical book.’
“I tried to take a look at that book to find out more about you, but Catilia scolded me for it.” The human said, rubbing its ear.
“That book isn’t for children, no matter how you look at it!” Catilia exclaimed seriously.
“Honestly, that was fun! Seriously, you’re just as weak as Asgore!!” Undyne said smiling.
Eris sighed. “Seriously, every time we hear about Asgore, it’s always something different. He’s a demon, he’s a good guy… Let’s see if you can clear things up a bit, my head already hurts with so many contradictory descriptions!”
After a while in silence, Undyne sighed deeply.
“Y’ know, I was a pretty hotheaded kid,” Undyne said. “Almost the same as your friend.” She pointed at Eris. “Once, to prove that I was the strongest, I tried to fight Asgore.”
Everyone turned their gaze to Undyne at that moment. “Emphasis on tried. I couldn’t land a single blow on him! And worse, the whole time, he refused to fight back! I was so humiliated…”
Eris closed her eyes at that moment.
“Afterwards, he apologized and said something goofy… ‘Excuse me, do you want to know how to beat me?’” Undyne said. “I said yes, and from then on, he trained me.”
“So you trained with Asgore himself, right?” Gida asked, Undyne nodding her head.
“One day, during practice, I finally knocked him down.” Undyne closed her eyes. “I felt… bad. But he was beaming… I had never seen someone more proud to get their butt kicked.” She said smiling.
“Yeah, that would be a real rarity.” Eris commented looking at Undyne, with the human silencing her with a “shhh!”
“Anyway, long story short, he kept training me… And now I’m the head of the Royal Guard! So I’m the one who gets to train dorks to fight!” Undyne said proudly, but then she got nervous. “… like, uh, Papyrus.” She pointed at Papyrus, who felt flattered for a change. “And yet I have doubts if he’s worthy of being part of the Royal Guard.”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN WITH THAT, UNDYNE?” Papyrus asked.
“Please. You were supposed to capture the human, and yet you ended being friends with him and the others. Believe me, you’re too innocent and nice for this,” Undyne said. “In fact, I had to save your bony ass from the Duke’s thugs.”
“From what MK said, you don’t like the Duke, do you?” the human asked.
“Not at all!” Undyne exclaimed. “That braggart has dazzled Asgore, and ever since he took that rank, he’s done nothing but try to impose a rule of fear on the Underworld!” Undyne looked seriously at the human. “I’ve already lost count of how many of his thugs I’ve dispatched so far.”
“And why don’t you take care of him?” Eris asked.
“I tried,” Undyne said. “But that… being… isn’t normal at all. His magic is beyond me.”
“Wow, this complicates things,” Catilia said.
“Well, I’d put him in his place if I had him in front of me,” Eris said.
“After a tie with me? Now that would be fun!” Undyne said, laughing mockingly. “That power of yours left you in a very bad shape. You couldn’t handle it! As you are, I doubt it.”
“AND COULD YOU HELP HER NOT TO GET ‘INJURED’ EVERY TIME?” Papyrus asked.
“i think that was the idea behind trying to befriend Undyne,” Sans said.
“Help her, you say?” Undyne asked, thinking for a moment. “Yeah, maybe that’s for the best. Especially if you’re going to face the Duke and his minions.”
Undyne then smirked. “Though having fought her, I can only give her one piece of advice!”
Eris sighed. “And what’s that advice?”
“Don't overexert yourself,” Undyne said. “I saw in one of Alphys’ history books that there was at least one human with a power similar to yours, and with the same problem.”
‘Who knows what history book it was.’ Eris thought.
“What you should do is use that power, but not to the limit of its effect, but try to keep it at an intermediate point, where you can make use of that increase in strength without straining your muscles,” Undyne said. “Like on the bridge, when you jumped to save the human and that monster. If you do that, you probably shouldn’t have that problem again. Although I would suggest using that at full power in extreme cases!”
Eris was thoughtful after Undyne’s advice, until she thought of something from before.
“By the way, before you named me as ‘half-Tyranid’.” She commented. “What’s that?”
“Ah, for what I know, a monster that appeared on Alphys’ books.” Undyne said. “You’re much like them, at least on your arms, legs, and tail.”
Eris simply remained silent.
Suddenly Gida and Noka turned their gaze towards the wall of the entrance door. Undyne quickly noticed this, jumping over the table towards the human.
“Duck!” Undyne exclaimed, taking the human to the ground.
Everyone threw themselves to the ground, just as a scythe burst through the wall, spinning at full speed, just inches away from reaching the human. When avoiding it, the scythe collided with the kitchen of the house, causing it to go up in flames along with the rest of the house.
“WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!” Papyrus asked as he stood up from the fire.
“Who threw that thing?” Catilia asked.
Undyne stood up, looking at the scythe embedded in the kitchen. “I know that weapon!” Undyne exclaimed furiously. “That barbarian, the nerve!”
Undyne ran out of the house, followed by everyone because the house was no longer a safe place with the fire.
Outside the burning house, they came across a group of skeletons in black robes with sickles in their hands.
“Who are these?” Eris asked, looking at the skeletons.
“Reapers,” Undyne answered with a frown. “They are his lackeys.”
“Of who?” Noka asked.
At that moment the reapers stepped aside, letting a figure larger than the others pass, apparently the skeleton of an ape with a black robe that covered much of its body, barely showing remains of purple bracers with claws, whose skeletal face was adorned by a green jewel in one of the eyes with a sinister red glow in the hollow eye.
“It seems that I have missed the throw.” Said the skeletal ape.
“Who is that?” Gida asked.
“ladies, may I introduce you to death.” Said Sans.
“Death? As the grim reaper?” Nami asked.
“Yes. And let's say that if I am the leader of the Royal Guard of Asgore, this unpresentable being is the leader of the Duke's guard.” Said Undyne.
“What? Is he his right hand?” Asked Noka.
“Yes, and there is no need to guess why he is here,” Undyne said, glancing sideways at the human, who was hiding behind Papyrus.
“Befriending a human? How low has fallen the great Undyne.” Death mocked.
“Says the one who doesn’t seem to have a brain in that skull of yours, because if you did you’d know it’s a very bad idea to attack me in my home!” Undyne exclaimed, generating a spear in her hands.
“Unfortunately for you, my master is aware of the human’s existence, and has personally sent me to bring it before him.” Death said. “Or in the case of giving many troubles, its soul at least.”
Eris clenched her fists in preparation for a fight. “Well, you’ll have to get over us first, bone-face!”
“bone-face. I’ll take that one down.” Sans commented.
“Not now!” Eris scolded Sans.
Death laughed for a moment. “Poor fools. You shouldn’t have gotten involved in this, and that’s why this place will be your grave.” Death raised his hand, making a scythe appear in his hand.
Catilia grabbed her sword with both hands, while Nami materialized fighting claws in her hands, at the same time that Gida and Noka ignited their lightsabers for the fight.
“You two take care of the boy, got it?” Nami said to Papyrus and Sans.
“AS YOU SAY!” Papyrus exclaimed.
“said and done,” Sans commented.
“Are you planning to fight me, Undyne? If you try to get in the way, you will be treated as a traitor. Are you going to fight as one?” Death asked, mocking Undyne.
“No. You are going to fight against a true hero! Be on your guard!!!” Undyne exclaimed.
Death gestured for the reapers to attack with their sickles first, jumping towards them.
Undyne blocked the sickles of two of the reapers with her spear before pushing them away and impaling them one by one with her spear. At the same time, Eris dodged the sickle of one of the reapers before landing a couple of blows on it and sending it flying to the ground.
Catilia blocked several of the reapers’ attacks with her sword before cleaving them in half with a single slash, while Nami dedicated herself to avoiding the reapers’ attacks, attacking at every opportunity she had.
At the same time, Gida and Noka stood back to back holding off the reapers with their lightsabers, taking out those they could while fending off their attackers.
Meanwhile, Papyrus and Sans stayed close to the human, keeping him away from any reapers that might try to get close. Though it seemed like Papyrus was the one doing all the restraining work, Sans barely did anything to help the situation.
When Undyne got rid of the reapers harassing her, she turned her gaze to Death, who simply tempted her with one hand. Taking the bait, Undyne leaped at him, her spear repeatedly clashing with Death's scythe, though he didn't back down from her attacks.
“You’ve always wanted to fight me since day one, Undyne. Unfortunately for you, that wish has been granted.” Death said as he pushed his scythe against Undyne’s spear.
“You know what? You’ve taken the words out of my mouth!” Undyne pushed her spear against her enemy’s scythe.
Eris grabbed one of the reapers attacking her and threw him at the others, freeing herself from them, at which point she turned her gaze to the duel between Undyne and Death. She charged into the battle without thinking.
“Leave me something too!” Eris exclaimed before ending up next to Death and kicking him in the side, pushing him away from Undyne. “Is there any problem if I help you?”
“Be my guest!” Undyne exclaimed, pointing her spear at Death, who grabbed his scythe with both hands before attacking them.
At that moment, MK had sneaked off to head to Undyne's house after learning that both she and the group that was with the human were at their house after a tough fight, but upon arriving he saw how both Undyne and Eris' group were facing Death's minions, the latter included in a great battle in front of the burning house, being amazed by the fight.
While the rest of the group protected the human from the reapers with the help of Papyrus and Sans, Undyne and Eris dodged Death's slashing attacks with his scythe, taking advantage of every opportunity they had to attack him.
In the middle of the fight, Death raised his hand, causing several sickles to appear around him, and with another gesture he threw them at Eris and Undyne, forcing them to dodge them, although Eris managed to catch one and throw it back at Death, but he simply blocked it with one of his bracers.
Both breathed after the last attack. Undyne generated a second energy spear and lent it to Eris who, after a little hesitation, decided to take it. Using spears was not her specialty, but with this enemy, any help was welcomed.
Both armed, Eris and Undyne jumped on Death, who simply dedicated himself to blocking the spears of both without even retreating. Finally, Death pushed them back, throwing both to the ground.
“Simply pathetic.” Death said as he slowly advanced. “The fish woman will not be useful to us in death. But perhaps the soul of the hellhound can be useful to my master.” Death raised his scythe ready to attack.
But suddenly he screamed in surprise, looking at his legs. Eris and Undyne looked too, seeing how MK was biting his leg with his mouth.
“What the hell are you doing here?!” Eris asked upon seeing MK.
“Leave them alone, bully!” MK exclaimed as he bit Death’s leg.
“Damn insect! Let go immediately!” Death shook his leg until he managed to free himself from its bite and throw it to the ground.
On the ground, MK saw Death approaching him angrily. “Bad-mannered brat. You deserve punishment for your audacity!” He said angrily, raising his scythe.
But before he could do anything, two energy spears pierced Death's body, leaving him surprised by what had happened and turned his head to see Eris running straight towards him with her upper fist glowing with energy.
“Go back to your grave, ape-face!” Eris exclaimed, throwing her punch at Death's head.
The punch had such impact and so much force that it destroyed Death's skull, who, upon retreating several steps, began to shake while a large amount of energy came out of where the skull was before until the entire body vanished without a trace.
As soon as Death fell, the rest of the reapers fled as quickly as they could, offering the group a respite when the battle ended.
MK looked around for a moment until he saw Eris step in front of him, seemingly furious.
“That was very dangerous, young boy!” Eris said seriously. MK made a face of pity at Eris’ words, but then she smiled. “But I’m glad you did.” She said, picking the young monster up from the ground.
“Yeah, you were supposed to be back home, but that unexpected help came in handy,” Undyne said smiling.
“It was nothing,” MK said smiling. “When I came to see if it was true that you were all here, I didn’t expect to find a full-blown fight with the Duke’s thugs.”
“Yeah, I think they’ve learned their lesson, at least for now,” Eris said, turning her head to the rest of the group. “Are you all okay?”
“Yeah, we’re okay,” Gida said with Noka at her side.
“We’re fine here too,” Nami said as Catilia put her sword away.
“EVERYTHING’S OK HERE!” Papyrus exclaimed as Sans and the human gave a thumbs up.
“Good,” Eris said, turning her gaze to Undyne who had her gaze set on the burning house. “Sorry about your house.”
Undyne shrugged. “Ah, well. Everything inside can be replaced.”
“And all the books you had?” Nami asked.
“They’re just copies! I just need to ask Alphys to photocopy some copies for me. Nothing more.” Undyne said with a smile.
“So… where are you going to stay now?” The human asked with a hand on his head.
“Oh, very simple! I’ll stay at Papyrus’s for a while.” Undyne said.
“IT WILL BE MY PLEASURE, UNDYNE!” Papyrus exclaimed smiling.
“well, if Undyne stays at home now, I can do half the work. and I do nothing. so half of nothing is twice as much. does that make sense to you?” Sans said with a wink, though everyone decided to ignore him.
“Well, there's nothing more to say, then!” Undyne said smiling.
Undyne started to leave with Sans and Papyrus, but then the fish woman stopped for a moment.
“Listen up.” Undyne started to speak. “It may take you by surprise, but… Asgore is not who he seems. He has a very big heart, and he probably won’t want to fight you. So, please convince him to let the human get out.” Undyne said, before turning her head to the group. “But… if you do come face to face with the Duke, beat him up for me, okay?”
“Consider it done.” Eris gave Undyne a thumbs up.
MK was watching them at the moment until he felt Papyrus start dragging him by the tail.
“COME ON, YOUNG KID! WE HAVE TO TAKE YOU HOME!” Papyrus said, grabbing MK’s tail and pulling her along.
Undyne shrugged and followed the others. Eris turned her gaze to the human, who was staring at the burning house.
“How can Asgore allow monsters like that?” the human asked. “What king would let such people loose?”
“It’s just like Undyne and Papyrus said.” Eris put her hand on the human’s head. “The Duke has more power than he should. And it’s clear that he’s desperate to get your soul.”
“More than that. We probably don’t have the whole picture of the situation,” Gida said. “Who knows what he really wants? If that story about the human souls is true, he might want them too.”
“That’s why we shouldn’t let him take this child’s soul. Isn’t that right?” Eris asked, looking at Gida, who nodded.
The group stood in silence, looking at the burning house.
“Come on, we should continue on our way,” Nami said.
They all nodded and began to walk away from the place.
While a certain yellow flower watched them from a distance with a frown.
