Dawnlite had a rude awakening when he hatched. He woke up to a loud smash due to his parents smashing his egg, and then was stomped on. His parents were about to snap his neck until they saw he was a boy, and was shiny. So they took him as their own. Suddenly, an object hit his mother and his father and they both fainted. Dawnlite looked towards the source, and saw men in white aiming a tranquilizer gun at him, then everything went quiet.

Upon waking up, Dawnlite saw the room covered with bare sheets of metal, and iron bars, like some sort of prison, but abandoned. He was eventually placed with a skunk named Skurry, who happened to be born around the same time. Skurry had gotten his name because of bad gas, and because the other skunks would run and he would chase them. Dawnlite, who was yet unnamed, took a liking to Skurry, until he aimed his butt at Dawnlite's nose, lifted his tail and... *BLRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!* Dawnlite would try to run, but Skurry would always catch up and torment him. Dawnlite's parents were to look after them since Skurry's parents were euthanized shortly after his birth, but thought nothing of Skurry's tormenting and thinking this kind of behavior is normal for skunks. Eventually, Dawnlite's parents were forcibly taken to be euthanized, and they looked at Dawnlite, telling him how lucky he was to be a shiny like them and a boy, and they always wanted a boy. They were euthanized immediately after.

Eventually, Dawnlite started spending more time with a fox named Foxy, who somehow was born at the exact same time as Skurry. Foxy was already Skurry's best friend, and Dawnlite confided in him. Eventually, Gunter would break in along with a multi-form being known as Chaos, who had the lab Intel. Somehow, Chaos had both his main forms present, which were a Yoshi and a fox, both having black fur/scales and red eyes. They rescued everyone, and while most of them went separately, Dawnlite ended up with Gunter, and Skurry, Foxy, and Foxy's half-brother/cousin Riley ended up at Gunter's vacation mansion near the city, which was repurposed for them but not registered to them, since they were smuggled in.

When Dawnlite reached the city, Gunter could tell something was off, Dawnlite looked scared. "What's wrong?" he asked. Dawnlite's response was shocking. "Bad memories. I was nearly killed and then kidnapped here..." he responded. Gunter looked shocked and said "How did it happen?", Dawnlite responds "My parents nearly killed me after birth for some reason, I don't know why but they last told me I was the lucky one". Gunter responds "That doesn't make any sense, but why is it here you're nervous?" Dawnlite says "Because this is where it happened." Gunter gives Dawnlite a hug, and sees that it's night and the moon is full, he takes Dawnlite off the bus as it arrives at the alleyway where he's staying, with police tape stating "No Trespassing." As he takes Dawnlite to bed, Dawnlite evolves while both him and Gunter are asleep. Dawnlite's scream wakes Gunter when he wakes up as an Umbreon, and he earns the name "Dawnlite"

Shortly after, Gunter is out doing some sort of fooligan job for himself to get money to pay for Skurry's house, and Gina is screwing around and decided to play dress-up. She decides that Dawnlite would look good in a mummy costume, so she grabs black duct tape and wraps him up, starting from his hind legs all the way to his head, and tosses him in the dumpster, which is when Gunter arrives home to catch her in the act of tossing him in. Gunter dives in, pulls out Dawnlite, and starts yanking the duct tape off, which takes Dawnlite's fur with it as he cries! Gunter tries to focus among Dawnlite's wailing once he is able to uncover his nose and mouth so he can breathe, as Dawnlite goes "WAAAAAAAAAAH!" Eventually, the duct tape is off and Dawnlite is furless. So, Gunter decides to bring Dawnlite to the mansion where Skurry is at, which Dawnlite goes anyway because he doesn't want this to happen again, but is worried about if Skurry would remember him.

After a few months, Dawnlite's fur has grown back and he has his own sound-proofed room.
