Understand?
Now, why jeopardize European peace with such self-serving acts? The answer lies in GOLD. Hence, the life of a pirate enticed numerous individuals, whether gay, perverse, or pursued by churches due to their "lifestyles." Do you recall Anne Bonny, a lesbian pirate who had numerous little teenage girlfriends, or Jack Rackham (upon whom the character of Jack Sparrow is based), likely gay or bisexual based on his effeminate demeanor, femenine fashion and preference for male companionship?
And let's not overlook the cabin boys who served under groups of men enduring months at sea to avoid capture by opposing navies. basically a Pirate ship was like a little prison floating in the sea filled with evil guys that start to bang each others when felt horny with no girls or prostitutes around, In essence, this is a factual narrative underscoring the sea life of yesteryears, where relationships mirrored those of the Greeks and Romans with their young apprentices, but set within the realm of sailors,(also a lot of pirates were rapist and loved this life due this) so usually older sailors teach and give pleasure to the younger ones.
Ofcourse these mafias get out of hands to England and they start the Piracy extinction some years later.
