Lead could feel his arms beginning to get tired from all the compressions as he stood there standing over Dark he glanced up to see Silver continuing to bag him while looking at Lead with look of absolute fear in her eyes \"he's a fighter Silver Dark wont go that easily\" Silver nodded at him as Lead continued to work his eye stayed on the monitor \"come on Dark fight damn it\" Lead glanced at the clock sitting on the nightstand and realized they had been working on Dark for thirty minutes at this point. suddenly Lead heard a sound that made him stop dead \"beep\" Lead looked at the monitor to see it rise and fall \"that's it Dark keep fighting Lead watched as the monitor continued to show a slight pulse Lead slipped off the bed and dropped to the floor exhausted Lead rolled onto his back and rubbed his shoulder Silver walked over and nuzzled him Lead could see the tears in her eyes \"thanks Lead\" Silver bent down and kissed Lead on the cheek\" Lead blushed as he finally pulled himself back onto his hoofs and watched as Silver laid down next to Dark in the bed. as Lead slowly walked out of the room Silver looked up at him \"I’ll just be downstairs if you need me\" Silver nodded as she laid her head down on Dark’s chest. Lead could feel his arms getting tired having just done this the night before. Lead knew deep down that this time he may not be able to get Dark back but he had to at least try as soon as the defibrillator recharged Lead slipped off the top of Dark and tapped the button once again Darks body twitched slightly but still he heart didn't start beating again\" Lead dropped down no longer able to keep going. \"Lead please you can't give up on him like this Lead please you have to help him.\" Lead looked over at silver standing there at the head of the bed still bagging Dark \"please Lead\" Lead slowly pulled himself back up and fought through the pain to fight on \"yes please Lead\" \"yeah i won't give up on him that easy\" as Lead continued to beat on Dark's chest he could see the life leaving Dark's body. \"damn it Dark fight you ain't leaving this easy\" as Lead worked trying his damnedest to save Dark all he could think about was all the things Dark had done to him in the factory. \"no that's in the past now\" Lead thought to himself suddenly he heard that distinctive sound Lead glanced out of the corner of his eye at the monitor showing a slow faint heartbeat. \"that's it Dark fight your stronger than death\" as Lead watched the monitor slowly began to climb \"yes Dark please you have to stay with us\" silver said as she looked at him with tears in her eyes\" Lead slowly slipped off the bed leaned against the wall and slipped down it coming to rest against the floor \"thank you again Lead\" Lead slowly raised his hoof to her \"no problem silver but i can't do it again I’m exhausted\" as Lead laid there he heard a familiar voice \"you okay Lead\" Lead glanced out of the corner of his eye to see Scootaloo standing there. \"Lead answer me\" Lead grinned and looked up at her \"yeah I’m fine scoot's just a little exhausted\" Lead slowly pulled himself back up \"see this old combat Pegasus always gets up\" she looked at him with a puzzled look \"combat pegasus what do you mean by that Lead\" silver looked over at too \"yeah Lead i didn't know you served in combat\" Lead adjusted his armor so it wasn't rubbing his neck \"yeah i was a battlefield commander for the shadowbolt's before being assigned to the factory in fact it was due to my command experience they assigned me to be head of security i had an impeccable record on the battlefield\" Scootaloo and silver stared as Lead told his story. so you served in combat is that why you have that gun rig you wear\" Lead glanced at his gun rig hanging off his side \"no i had that made when i worked at the factory to help me do my job nothing more convincing not to try and escape when you see me strolling around with twin mini-guns Lead slowly turned and began to walk out of the room limping away with Scootaloo right behind him \"I’m going to go lay down silver if you need me I’ll be in my room right down the hallway\" silver nodded at him \"alright Lead\" as Lead walked down the hallway it was obvious to Scootaloo he was in pain \"you alright Lead you look like your about to fall over\" \"no I’m fine Scootaloo it's just that i haven't worked that hard to save some pony in years\" \"so where did you learn those skills i mean it's not like you learned them at the factory or used them at the factory. \"well actually that's exactly where i learned them\" Scootaloo looked up at him \"so you did learn those skills at the factory but when the hell did you ever use them at the factory i mean it's not like you ever saved any pony’s life\" Lead glanced at her \"alright maybe that was a little cruel after all you did rescue me and dash\" Scootaloo nuzzled Lead's leg \"I’ll forever be grateful to you for that too.\" when Lead finally made it back to his room he slipped his gun rig and radio off sat them by the door and slid into his bed. "Dark abyss but it can't be" Silver lining looked right at Lead "please i know you don't like him but please you have to save him Lead" Lead looked away then back at her "alright Silver but i thought your chaos power was the ability to heal ponies so why do you need me" Silver lining looked at him with a look on her face "your right Lead i was worried for him i forgot" "come on bring him inside i got an extra room upstairs you can use while he recovers" Lead walked over and slung Dark’s hoof over his neck and began to carry him upstairs with Silver as they slipped past the front room Lead glanced over to see Scootaloo standing there with a look of pure terror on her face. in her mind all she saw was a shadow of a sharped tooth pony standing over her laughing Lead looked at her "shh scoots please keep quiet" Scootaloo just nodded slightly at him "thanks Scootaloo" as Silver and Lead walked up the stairway Lead looked over at her "Silver your eye" "I’m alright Lead just worry about Dark he needs you more than me right now" as they finally made it upstairs Lead pushed the door open to the extra bedroom and carried Dark inside as the two of them laid him on the bed. Silver looked over at Lead  "thank you Lead i know how hard this must be for you" Lead looked at her "no you don't if not for you being with him i would have let him just lay on the doorstep and die" Lead quickly flipped the EKG back on and put the leads on Dark’s body as soon as the monitor turned on it showed an extremely fast heartbeat" "alright i got him hooked up to the monitors so we can keep an eye on his vitals" Lead turned to walk out of the room "alright I’ll be right outside if you need anything sliver just say so" "Lead i am a little tired from carrying him all the way here from cloudsdale so if it's alright can i have a drink" Lead nodded "sure Silver what would you like i got water, milk and a little apple cider left" "waters alright Lead" "okay I’ll be right back" Lead turned and walked out of the room as he walked back downstairs he thought of the last time he was in the factory being commended for stopping another pony from escaping and now that same stallion was laying in his extra room fighting for his life. Lead felt a small grin coming "serves you right Dark" Lead shook his head "no he's still got a heart in that chest somewhere"  as Lead walked into the kitchen he was surprised to see dash in front of the refrigerator looking for a snack she glanced up at Lead as he stood in the doorway "oh Lead i didn't see you there where were you" "sorry dashie i was upstairs i just came down to grab a drink" Lead walked over towards her and grabbed a glass from the counter and filled it with water as he turned to head back upstairs he looked at rainbow dash who had by now sat down at the table with a sandwich Lead walked over and nuzzled her "love you Dashie" dash raised her head and nuzzled him back "love you too Lead" as Lead turned to go back upstairs Dash looked up at him "i saw them as you walked past the front room" Lead stopped dead in his tracks "what do you mean Dashie" "i saw Dark Abyss and Silver Lining" Lead sighed "alright dashie i can't hide it yes their upstairs" Lead glanced over his shoulder at her "and there's a good chance that Dark might not make it he was pretty bad when he came in" "alright Lead Darling i trust you i know you won't let them hurt us" Lead smiled "no and plus shadow's in the front room to protect you" "i take it that's the shadowbolt passed out on the couch" "yeah" dashie looked at him a little harder" "in the skin tight flight suit" suddenly Lead realized what she was implying" "dash i promise Shadow has no clue that it's going on" "it's still a little uncomfortable" Lead sat his cup down on the counter "alright I’ll go cover him up dashie" as Lead walked into the front room he looked at shadow laid out on his back sound asleep Lead quietly walked over and pulled a sheet over shadow who quickly rolled over and wrapped himself in it "sleep tight partner you've earned it" Lead walked back into the kitchen "sorry Dashie I’ll mention something to him when he wakes up. Lead grabbed Silvers cup of water and headed back upstairs as he walked down the hallway he could tell something was wrong "Dark wake up please Dark don't leave me like this" as Lead walked into the room he saw Silver standing over Dark’s lifeless body beating on his chest as Lead stood there watching he could hear the monitor registering a flat line "Silver it doesn’t matter how much you do that he's gone" Silver looked up at him with tears streaming down her face. as Lead approached her she ran over and buried her head in his side Lead ran his hoof down her back "it's alright Silver he's in a better place now” as Silver continued to sob Lead looked at Dark and sighed "go grab my kit Silver it's in my bedroom i may still be able to save him" Silver looked up at him "what do you mean" Lead pulled away from her and began to walk towards Dark "every minute you stand there the further Dark slips away it's a black case under my bed" Silver took off out the door as Lead flew up slightly and landed straddling Dark Lead put his hoofs on Dark’s chest and began CPR counting to himself “one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten” right then Silver came running back through the door with the case on her back "i got the case Lead" Lead looked over at her never stopping the compressions "good lay it down up here next to me on the nightstand " Silver quickly did as she was told "alright grab the BVM" "the what?"  "that blue balloon looking thing" "alright" " alright now place it over Dark's muzzle and press while i prep the defibrillator just press it count to five and do it again" Silver looked at him nervously "okay" "i know it's hard but Silver Dark’s life is in your hoofs" "alright Silver took the mask and began bagging Dark. Lead slipped off the bed and began to prep Dark for the defibrillator Lead grabbed a razor from the kit and shaved two spots on Dark’s chest" Silver looked at him "Lead what are you doing" "the paddles have to contact bare skin or they won't work. Lead pulled the paddles out of the pack and placed them on Dark’s chest as he did he noticed the scar smack dab in the middle of his chest  "what do those do" Silvers question snapped Lead back to reality "they administer a shock which can restart Dark’s heart" as soon as the paddles we're placed Lead flipped on the machine waited a second. as the machine charged Lead watched when the machine beeped Lead looked at Silver "alright Silver remember this may look like it hurts Dark but it doesn’t if you want you can look away but don't touch Dark at all" "alright" once Silver was clear Lead pushed the button Dark’s body lunged slightly as the current flowed through his body Lead looked at the monitor nothing quickly hopped back on the bed and went back to doing compressions "Silver when i say ten press the bag one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, breath one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten breath” come on stay with me Dark as soon as the defibrillator beeped Lead shocked him again “fuck still flat-lined”  “one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten” fuck don’t die on me” "Lead please don't let him die" " i won't silver quick grab that syringe out of the case please" Silver quickly did as she was told Lead took the syringe in his mouth and rammed it into Dark’s chest and depressed the plunger glancing over at the monitor as he did still flat-lined. "fuck" Lead hunched back "so help me Dark your not giving up like this your not dieing on my watch"  he then smashed his hoof into Dark’s chest. Silver looked at Lead in horror "what the hell is wrong with you Lead your gonna crush his heart not restart it. Lead glanced over at the monitor which continued to flat-line. Lead gritted his teeth "Dark i swear to Luna if you leave poor Silver Lining and Steelwing alone in this world. Lead could feel his arms beginning to get tired from all the compressions as he stood there standing over Dark he glanced up to see Silver continuing to bag him while looking at Lead with look of absolute fear in her eyes "he's a fighter Silver Dark wont go that easily" Silver nodded at him as Lead continued to work his eye stayed on the monitor "come on Dark fight damn it" Lead glanced at the clock sitting on the nightstand and realized they had been working on Dark for thirty minutes at this point. suddenly Lead heard a sound that made him stop dead "beep" Lead looked at the monitor to see it rise and fall "that's it Dark keep fighting Lead watched as the monitor continued to show a slight pulse Lead slipped off the bed and dropped to the floor exhausted Lead rolled onto his back and rubbed his shoulder Silver walked over and nuzzled him Lead could see the tears in her eyes "thanks Lead" Silver bent down and kissed Lead on the cheek" Lead blushed as he finally pulled himself back onto his hoofs and watched as Silver laid down next to Dark in the bed. as Lead slowly walked out of the room Silver looked up at him "I’ll just be downstairs if you need me" Silver nodded as she laid her head down on Dark’s chest. Lead slipped out the door and began to walk downstairs his hoof aching in pain "why did i do that Dark means nothing to me hell he made my life a living hell when i worked at the factory" Lead thought about Silver and Steelwing "that's why i did it for them not him" Lead looked at the staircase and felt a cringe of pain up his hoof as he took the first step "to hell with this" Lead opened his wings and slowly flew down to the first floor walked back into the front room and flopped back down in his hammock chair as he drifted off he felt the sensation of something on his chest. Lead opened his eye and saw rainbow cuddling against him Lead laid his head on top of hers and drifted off to sleep. Lead awoke the next morning to find dashie still sleeping against him" as he scanned the room he found shadow was still resting on the couch now with Scootaloo laying on his chest as he glanced towards the stairway he was surprised to find Silver standing in the doorway. Lead slowly raised his hoof so as not to wake dash and gestured for her to come on over Silver walked over and bent down next to him "she looks like an angel laying there Lead" Lead looked down at dash as her side rose and fell with each breath she took. Lead nodded yeah she is my beautiful pegasus angel" Silver smiled "i still refuse to believe a stallion as nice as you Lead worked at the factory" Lead looked away "yeah but i still have a Dark side deep down inside my soul" "right i just wanted to come down and thank you again for saving Dark he means a lot to me and steel" "yeah i know but you know me and him have a past that's a little hard to overcome." Silver frowned "yeah i know that to be honest you would have loved to cave his chest in up there when you had the chance but instead you fought the urge and pulled him back from death's icy grip" "i did it for you and steel" Lead looked down "between dashie here shadow over there and you two that's basically all the family i have here in equestria" dashie stirred slightly Lead slowly slipped a pillow under her and slipped out of the chair. Silver stood perplexed as to exactly Lead had pulled off the movement. "been doing that for awhile Silver so i guess you could say i got a little practice at it" "you know Lead you didn't have to get up for me you looked like you were comfy right there," "it's alright Silver i figured I’d better get up and check on Dark anyhow i don't want you to feel like you have to take care of him all alone" Silver looked at him as the two of them headed for the kitchen "but first i need a drink working on Dark last night wore me out and i never did get you that glass of water "yes you did you sat it on the dresser when you came in and began to work on Dark" Lead thought to himself for a minute "oh yeah i did didn't i" as they walked into the kitchen Lead strolled over and grabbed an apple off the counter "would you like something to eat" "oh yes please I’m starved" Lead grabbed another apple and tossed it to her as she swallowed it in one bite Lead grabbed an energy drink from the fridge and drank it down. "hey Lead can i ask you something personal?" "sure Silver" "why do you always seem sad Lead" Lead looked up "to tell you the truth Silver I’m actually not an unhappy stallion at all i have no reason to be i have the one pony in this life that make's me happy so i guess you could say that maybe being at the factory for so long just caused me to learn to hide my emotions and well i just forget sometimes that I’m doing it." "oh alright i understand Lead" as Lead finished the last of his drink he looked up at Silver "you know Silver..." "yes Lead" "oh nothing just thinking out loud what do you say we go check on Dark" "alright Lead i bet he'll be happy to see you" Lead stopped  "is he awake" "no of course not Lead i was only joking Lead" as the two of them walked out of the kitchen Lead glanced at silver walking next to him. she looked back "what's up Lead i can see you glancing over here out of the corner of my eye Lead" "sorry silver i just tend to do that" as they walked up the stairs Lead could tell his hoof was still sore and ached from Dark" as they walked past Lead's room Lead walked inside "hold on silver let me just grab something from my room" "alright Lead" Lead walked into his room and grabbed his armored vest as he slipped it on over his head he knew he wouldn't need it Dark would be too weak to hit him but to be on the safe side he would wear it anyway. as he walked back out into the hallway silver looked the vest up and down "what Lead you think Dark’s gonna shoot you or something." "no but he may try something else" silver looked at him with a look of disgust "Lead he's barley hanging on by a thread i don't think he's gonna try anything" "yeah but i didn't survive this long by being trusting" as they walked into the room Lead looked at Dark laid out on his back in the bed his mouth wide open reveling his razor sharp pointed teeth Lead stood in the doorway watching as his muscular chest rose and fell with each breath. finally after standing there for a second Lead sighed and walked over towards Dark and glanced at the monitor beeping away slowly next to him "hey Dark Leads here he came to check on you" Lead pulled a stethoscope from around his neck and put it on Dark's chest as he listened to Dark's heart Lead found his mind drifting off to thoughts of it stopping. "so how's it sound" Lead snapped back to reality and pulled the stethoscope from his ears "his heart sounds good but it still sounds like his breathing is still labored. Lead pulled a small bottle from his vest and pulled the cap off "what is that Lead" "it will help Dark breath easier if he'll take it" silver took the bottle from Lead and rubbed Dark's throat "take the medicine big brother it will help your breathing. Dark slowly drank the liquid "thanks big brother" as Lead watched Dark slowly moved a little bit as he opened his eye "silver is that you" silver looked up at him and wrapped her hoofs around his neck "oh thank Luna Dark your awake i was so worried" Dark slowly raised his hoof "try not to move to much Dark" Lead said" the black and gray stallion glared at him "Leadbarrage you worthless son of a.." "Dark Lead saved your life and let you stay here in his house" Dark stopped and looked back over to silver what do you mean he saved my life why would Lead save me he hates my gut's" "i did it for silver" Dark looked back to Lead and then back to silver "thank you Lead" Lead looked at Dark in shock "did he just thank me i refuse to believe that" silver glanced at Lead over her shoulder "no he really did say it i heard it too." Dark slowly tried to sit up but dropped back down in pain "ah my chest feels like i was hit by something hard" "well that's not surprising seeing as how hard i was beating on your chest trying to get your heart beating again" "ah what did you do jump on my chest or something Lead "no not exactly" "you did didn't you Lead" Lead looked at him "look Dark i may have been a little forceful than i needed to but i wasn't about to let you die silver would have never forgiven me if i had let you die now would you silver" silver looked at Lead "i know you were doing all you could for him Lead" Dark suddenly cringed in pain as his hoof went to his chest "ah" Lead looked back over at him "Dark you alright" as Lead spoke to Dark his eye shifted to monitor when he heard an alert sound as he watched the monitor he saw Dark's heart rate beginning to climb" Dark suddenly dropped to the bed with a thud "Lead what's happening?" Lead quickly hopped onto the bed he's fucking crashing again damn it Dark" as Lead watched the monitor went flat again "fuck here we go again" Lead quickly put his hoofs on Dark's chest and re-began CPR on the lifeless stallion one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten” after a second silver grabbed the BVM out of the kit and without any direction from Lead began bagging Dark again "please Dark you have to fight i need you your my big brother" "silver hand me the paddles quick once Silver was clear Lead pushed the button Dark’s body lunged slightly as the current flowed through him Lead looked at the monitor nothing he quickly hopped back on the bed and continued administering compressions to Dark. Lead could feel his arms getting tired having just done this the night before. Lead knew deep down that this time he may not be able to get Dark back but he had to at least try as soon as the defibrillator recharged Lead slipped off the top of Dark and tapped the button once again Darks body twitched slightly but still he heart didn't start beating again" Lead dropped down no longer able to keep going. "Lead please you can't give up on him like this Lead please you have to help him." Lead looked over at silver standing there at the head of the bed still bagging Dark "please Lead" Lead slowly pulled himself back up and fought through the pain to fight on "yes please Lead" "yeah i won't give up on him that easy" as Lead continued to beat on Dark's chest he could see the life leaving Dark's body.  "damn it Dark fight you ain't leaving this easy" as Lead worked trying his damnedest to save Dark all he could think about was all the things Dark had done to him in the factory. "no that's in the past now" Lead thought to himself suddenly he heard that distinctive sound Lead glanced out of the corner of his eye at the monitor showing a slow faint heartbeat. "that's it Dark fight your stronger than death" as Lead watched the monitor slowly began to climb "yes Dark please you have to stay with us" silver said as she looked at him with tears in her eyes" Lead slowly slipped off the bed leaned against the wall and slipped down it coming to rest against the floor "thank you again Lead" Lead slowly raised his hoof to her "no problem silver but i can't do it again I’m exhausted" as Lead laid there he heard a familiar voice "you okay Lead" Lead glanced out of the corner of his eye to see Scootaloo standing there.  "Lead answer me" Lead grinned and looked up at her "yeah I’m fine scoot's just a little exhausted" Lead slowly pulled himself back up "see this old combat Pegasus always gets up" she looked at him with a puzzled look "combat pegasus what do you mean by that Lead"  silver looked over at too "yeah Lead i didn't know you served in combat" Lead adjusted his armor so it wasn't rubbing his neck "yeah i was a battlefield commander for the shadowbolt's before being assigned to the factory in fact it was due to my command experience they assigned me to be head of security i had an impeccable record on the battlefield" Scootaloo and silver stared as Lead told his story. so you served in combat is that why you have that gun rig you wear" Lead glanced at his gun rig hanging off his side "no i had that made when i worked at the factory to help me do my job nothing more convincing not to try and escape when you see me strolling around with twin mini-guns Lead slowly turned and began to walk out of the room limping away with Scootaloo right behind him "I’m going to go lay down silver if you need me I’ll be in my room right down the hallway" silver nodded at him "alright Lead" as Lead walked down the hallway it was obvious to Scootaloo he was in pain "you alright Lead you look like your about to fall over" "no I’m fine Scootaloo it's just that i haven't worked that hard to save some pony in years" "so where did you learn those skills i mean it's not like you learned them at the factory or used them at the factory. "well actually that's exactly where i learned them"  Scootaloo looked up at him "so you did learn those skills at the factory but when the hell did you ever use them at the factory i mean it's not like you ever saved any pony’s life" Lead glanced at her "alright maybe that was a little cruel after all you did rescue me and dash" Scootaloo nuzzled Lead's leg "I’ll forever be grateful to you for that too." when Lead finally made it back to his room he slipped his gun rig and radio off sat them by the door and slid into his bed. Scootaloo stood in the doorway quietly watching as Lead laid there after a few minutes Lead rolled over and looked at her "your welcome to lay down up here with me scoots. the small amber pegasus slipped up into the bed and rolled into a ball behind the gunmetal stallion. as Lead finally drifted off to sleep he felt something grab his hoof Lead glanced down to find Scootaloo clutching his hind leg. "sleep tight Scootaloo" with those words Lead drifted off to sleep.
