A week filled with tension. They all feared that Pippa could snap at any moment, but she didn't. During that week, Theresa came with some horrifying news. She is leaving the shelter, for reasons she doesn't want to talk about, and will leave in about week. Jill was hit the hardest, Theresa was the only one who gave her a chance and she knows Theresa for 5 years already. To Jill, Theresa is her mother she never had. They talked a lot during these days. Today, Theresa?s replacement will arrive, so that they can work together for the rest of the week. This replacement is a couple named Dixie and Erik. They too will live at the shelter permanently. Jill hopes she likes the new ones. She only tolerates Bob and she has had a few fights with Jade in the past. Normally, a girl would have Jade as her councilor, but Jill doesn't. She is the only one who only talks to Theresa. Jill even listens almost solely to Theresa, which give her the nickname ``Theresa?s pet''. Jill doesn't like it and can get very mad at it if used. Knowing that Theresa is gone by next weekend, Jill tries to spend as much time with her as possible.\n\nThe last Monday has started and as usual, Jill is running outside. She tries to clear her head, even if just for a moment, but it doesn't work today. She keeps thinking about the day that Theresa walks out of her life and maybe never comes back. An idea that saddens her. At some point, she even stops for a few minutes to cry softly. Then, she wipes her tears away and goes on with her exercises. Because it softly drizzles, Jill can't go inside through the front door. Specially for this, she opened the door of the utility room and placed an older towel there so she can clean her feet. While Jill was exercising behind the shelter, a car arrives at the front. A man and a woman get out. They look at the building and the woman opens the backdoor of the car. A young moody, sleepy teen feline Ani girl slowly gets out. She too looks at the building, but appears to be not impressed. She complains about the time and that she doesn't want to live here. She gets a mad look of both her parents. While this happens, Theresa stood at the door. Dixie and Erik quickly walk up the small stairs in front of the front door, with their daughter Eva slowly behind. Theresa shakes their hands and takes them to the office for a talk and some coffee. With Dixie and Erik close to the desk, Eva sits on the other side of the office, looking bored. She doesn't understand why her parents wanted to move here. They could have stay where they lived. Then she still would have her friends close by. In her old neighborhood, she had everything she wanted. Her friends, good places to hang out and shops. There is nothing here. The only things she sees is nature. She could even hear birds sing when she got out of the car, instead of hearing other cars and people. While her parents are talking about work, she just sits in the office. She has seen these a lot. They are all the same. Then, she sees a board on the wall. It has names on it and by the looks of it, these names are from the six Ani that live here. She reads the text above the names. It's a progress board. She looks at the names and how far they are. Some are barely beginning and some are almost done. She is shocked when she realizes that there are only six Ani. She thought that there would be much more, by looking at the size of building. Just when Eva thinks she is about to fall asleep, everybody gets up for a tour of the building. They want to do that now, when the Ani are still asleep and its quiet. While walking to the living-room, Theresa tells a bit about the history of the building and shows them a few things. They continue the tour in the kitchen and end up in the utility room, where Jill sits on the floor to clean her feet. As an Ani can't wear shoes, they walk barefoot all day, even in the rain and dirt.\n\n``Good morning, Jill'' says Theresa when they walk in. ``Thanks for the coffee.''\n\n``Good coffee?''\n\n``Very good.''\n\n``You made the coffee?'' asks Erik surprised.\n\n``Every morning.''\n\n``She makes almost all the coffee here. If it tastes good, she made it'' explains Theresa.\n\nThen, Dixie wants to know why Jill is sitting in the utility room, cleaning her feet. Jill explains that she went to the woods behind the building to wake up the other, feral, Ani who are living there butt naked, she included. Behind everybody, Eva gets an uncomfortable feeling. Completely naked Ani? On the floor, Jill is holding her breath so that she can't laugh. She wants to see if these new staff members can take a joke. Theresa kills the moment by saying that Jill is joking. When Dixie and Erik finally understand that Jill didn't tell the truth, Jill just smiles. Theresa just sends Jill upstairs as she only has 25 minutes left until breakfast. When Jill stands up, Dixie, Erik and Eva are shocked at how tall Jill is. They didn't expect that. While Jill washes herself and gets dressed, Theresa goes on with the tour. When downstairs again, Jill starts with setting the table. Jill is barely beginning, when slowly the other show up too. Yawning and still their pajamas, they help Jill set the table. While they are busy, Theresa tells Dixie and Erik who is who and in short what the reason is why he or she is here. When they are about to sit, Jill sees something. They didn't set the table for Dixie, Erik and Eva, so Jill asks them. They already had breakfast, but Eva is still hungry. Because she had to hurry, she could only eat something small and fast. Dixie and Erik don't really want Eva to have a second breakfast and sit next to some random stranger, but Jill invites her to the table anyway. While Theresa has breakfast too, Dixie and Erik sit at the table as well. They just took some more coffee, while Eva eats her second breakfast. During breakfast, the Ani are introduced to Dixie, Erik and Eva. Eva is introduced, but she will rarely be seen around. During the day, she is mostly of to school or somewhere in the private area where she will have her bedroom.\n\nFor the rest of the day, Dixie and Erik just look around at what the Staff and the Ani are doing. Usually, they would have their regular therapy sessions, where they would individually talk with their designated staff member or as a group. But there isn't one for several days, so they have to wait. The next several days, they work directly with the rest of the staff while moving in. In the mean time, Theresa is packing. She doesn't have much stuff to pack and is already doing it for a few days. During these days, some friction forms between Jill and Dixie. Dixie basically demands that Jill sees her as the new boss of the shelter. She also demands that Jill shows all the respect to her she demands. Jill doesn't. She sees things different. Dixie might be the new boss, but she needs to ear that respect first. Like this, they go back and forth. Nobody wants this to happen. Only Pippa seems to enjoy this. Now she finally gets an idea how far Jill can go. She has been looking closely at Jill ``power'' over the staff members and found out that she has more power than the other Ani combined. Pippa was shocked and surprised at the same time. How could Jill, who lives at the shelter for similar reasons as Pippa, have some much power? She understands that Jill is living here for five years already. That might have something to do with it. Another theory is that Jill is much taller than any staff member, so she intimidates them. Or is it her age? Jill is already 20. Most of the Ani are in their early teenage years. The last theory Pippa could think of, was Jill?s past as a pit fighter. Pippa accidently overheard a conversation between Jill and Theresa. They talked about Jill?s past as a pit fighter. What Pippa doesn't know, is that she is the only one of the Ani that has found out what Jill?s past is. The others only know that Jill suffered severe abuse and that for her whole life. She even has scars underneath her fur to prove it. And as a result of this horrible life, Jill is now suffering from Aggressive Personality Disorder, or APD for short, which mean she has some severe anger management issues and needs very little to explode in a violent rage. A condition that should have send her to prison for life. Even if an Ani with APD gets in a shelter, it's usually for life too. The Government just doesn't want any Ani like Jill out on the streets, no matter how well they can control it. If Jill isn't able to leave this shelter and can go to another, where she can go to school and such, within ten years, it's an automatic life sentence. Jill is already five years in this shelter. She is half way and Pippa doesn't get any idea why she hasn't left yet. Jill is calm, friendly and only shows some very minor aggression when provoked and that takes a lot. Pippa keeps pondering over this. She knows she is in the shelter because of her aggression and now fears she is in it for life too. Or worse, she gets send to prison. She enjoys her freedom, but she just doesn't want to change her ways. What can she do, to leave without changing her behavior? Pippa did find out something interesting. She saw several times that Jill doesn't listen to Jade and Erik. Jade is Pippa?s designated staff member who does her best to help Pippa settle in and tries to reshape her behavior so that people accept her. Pippa doesn't really like her and Jade has her hands full on her. But even besides that, Jill only talks with Theresa. It doesn't matter what has to happen, like doing some chores or something, it has to be Theresa who orders Jill to do it. Because of this, Pippa concludes that it is Theresa who controls Jill and without Theresa, as she is leaving, things might be much more dangerous and yet it's also interesting. The friction between Jill and Dixie is already showing this. Jill refuses to listen to her. Pippa wonders what will happen when Theresa is really gone. Pippa will keep her eyes open. Not only for that, but also for a way out of the shelter. She has seen the grounds around the building a huge and that there is a big wall with a big gate around it. Climbing over it, isn't going to work. She knows the gate is the answer, but she just can figure out how to open it.\n\nThen it's finally the dreaded day. Its emotional, especially for Jill. Normally, she doesn't cry in public, but today she does. She is the only one who helped Theresa get her stuff in the moving truck. Then it's time to say goodbye. More tears are shed. Jill even made a little gift for Theresa. When she wants to open it, Jill stops her. This isn't the place or time. With a final hug and kiss, she says her last goodbye to Jill. Jill is the last to get inside. She stayed outside at the front door until she truck was gone and the gate closed. After that, she went to her room for more crying. It was Jade who comforted her.\n\nJill isn't the only one who is in tears. She kept them in as long as she could. When everything was unloaded from the truck and in her temporary room at the parent?s house, she opened Jill?s gift. When she saw what Jill gave her, she busted out in tears. Apparently, Jill found an old folding double picture frame. In the left, she placed a picture of herself with Theresa hugging each other. Theresa still knows when this picture was made. It was Jill?s very first birthday she ever had. In the right, Jill placed a handwritten letter with a small tuft of her fur.\n\n``No matter where you are, I'll be there for you, like you were there for me. With love and kisses, your big goofy oddball, Jill.''\n\nWhen Theresa hears her name being called, she quickly wipes her tears away and hopes nobody sees that she has been crying. But to no avail. Theresa?s brother Mark opens the bedroom door and sees her wiping her eyes. She just turns around and hopes all of it is over soon.\n\n``Mom and dad call for you'' says Mark fast.\n\n``Give me a minute'' says Theresa soft and a bit shaky.\n\n``Tears? Whatever?''\n\nTheresa fears the worst. Her brother doesn't care. She places Jill?s gift carefully between her stuff on the bed and follows her brother. With red eyes, Theresa walks in the living room. There she find her parents, her sister Gwen and her husband George and Mark?s wife Angela. Theresa doesn't like Angela at all. She is a nagging posh brat.\n\n``So, you're finally out of your room'' says Angela with a moody voice. ``It's about time.''\n\n``I had stuff to do'' answers Theresa agitated.\n\n``Yeah. Crying. About what anyway? About those losers at that stupid shelter of yours?''\n\n``It's not stupid.''\n\n``No off course not. You are a proud teacher of some dumb creeps who should be locked up.''\n\n``Enough'' shouts Theresa?s father. ``We are not here for these kind of fights.''\n\n``True'' says Gwen. ``Considering the big sacrifices we all made, we can't waste time on these petty fights.''\n\n``Big sacrifices? What big sacrifices?'' asks Theresa surprised.\n\n``Well, George and I are now only working part-time and we can't go on holiday this summer.''\n\n``You call that big?''\n\n``Then what did you sacrifice?'' asks George agitated.\n\n``My whole life.''\n\n``Your whole life? What life?''\n\n``That shelter was my life. It was my business. I'm now homeless and without a job. And all of that so that I could be here for this idiotic family problem'' answers Theresa agitated. ``The only things left from my life, is what is in those boxes.''\n\n``Take it easy, Theresa'' says her mother mad.\n\n``Yeah, Theresa. Take it easy'' says Mark mad.\n\n``O, shut up. Dumb ass'' says Theresa mad.\n\n``No, you shut! It's time for you to act normal for once in your life!''\n\nThis gets Theresa so mad, that she kicks the coffee table. It bounces up and down. The coffee in the cups flies out and some lands on Angela?s elegant pearly white dress.\n\n``Look what you did'' says Angela mad while pointing at the brown stain.\n\n``O, boohoo'' says Theresa mad.\n\n``Enough!'' shouts Theresa?s father. ``We have a family problem to discuss and solve. Not these fights.''\n\n``Yeah. Lets discuss the family problem. Let's just pretend that my personal life doesn't matter at all. We all made ``big'' sacrifices. Except that mine are way bigger than the rest combined.''\n\n``What are trying to say, sis? That we solve your problems first?'' asks Gwen frustrated.\n\n``No. I just want to know if I can get my life back, once this is over. Or is my life, or the lack of it, the next family problem we have to solve?''\n\n``So what, that you gave up more. How do you think we feel?''\n\n``I had enough of this! I'm leaving.''\n\nTheresa?s parents try to stop her, but she won't listen anymore. She walks back to the guest room she was given and grabs what she needs for now. With that, she walks out of the house. The last thing her parents hear, is that Theresa will arrange something for her stuff to be picked up. With that said, the door slams shut and Theresa walks away. After looking for a cheap motel, she just rolls up on the bed to cry. In her arms, she holds Jill?s picture. The only one she could see as her family right now. Like that, she falls asleep. In the shelter, Jill does the same.\n\nNow that Theresa has given up her entire life, she needs a job and a house. But without funding and good papers, both are scarce. There is no way she can go back to the shelter. She had to quit her job there, because fixing the problems in her family would take some time. And she just lived to far away to keep traveling back and forth. Now, she is just barely a day away from the shelter, and it isn't necessary anymore. The next morning, Theresa begins anew. She has figured out she can temporarily stay at the motel, but she needs a job to pay for it. Luckily, in town an office of the B.A.P. is looking for some temporarily personnel. They find it weird that she gave up a good career and then applies for a job again. After some explaining, she is hired. For the next few months, she has a job. Later that day, a moving company picks up all the boxes of Theresa and brings them to the motel. Theresa can't pay for storage. That evening, Theresa looks around in the motel room she got and the pile of boxes.\n\n``Is this my life now?'' asks Theresa soft.\n\nSlowly, new tears from in her eyes.\n\n","writing_bbcode_parsed":"Chapter 2.

Since Pippa arrived, about a week has passed. With a final hug and kiss, she says her last goodbye to Jill. Jill is the last to get inside. She stayed outside at the front door until she truck was gone and the gate closed. After that, she went to her room for more crying. It was Jade who comforted her.

Jill isn't the only one who is in tears. In the right, Jill placed a handwritten letter with a small tuft of her fur.

``No matter where you are, I'll be there for you, like you were there for me. With love and kisses, your big goofy oddball, Jill.''

When Theresa hears her name being called, she quickly wipes her tears away and hopes nobody sees that she has been crying. But to no avail. Theresa?s brother Mark opens the bedroom door and sees her wiping her eyes. She just turns around and hopes all of it is over soon.

``Mom and dad call for you'' says Mark fast.

``Give me a minute'' says Theresa soft and a bit shaky.

``Tears? Whatever?''

Theresa fears the worst. She is a nagging posh brat.

``So, you're finally out of your room'' says Angela with a moody voice. ``It's about time.''

``I had stuff to do'' answers Theresa agitated.

``Yeah. Crying. About what anyway? About those losers at that stupid shelter of yours?''

``It's not stupid.''

``No off course not. You are a proud teacher of some dumb creeps who should be locked up.''

``Enough'' shouts Theresa?s father. ``We are not here for these kind of fights.''

``True'' says Gwen. ``Considering the big sacrifices we all made, we can't waste time on these petty fights.''

``Big sacrifices? What big sacrifices?'' asks Theresa surprised.

``Well, George and I are now only working part-time and we can't go on holiday this summer.''

``You call that big?''

``Then what did you sacrifice?'' asks George agitated.

``My whole life.''

``Your whole life? What life?''

``That shelter was my life. It was my business. I'm now homeless and without a job. And all of that so that I could be here for this idiotic family problem'' answers Theresa agitated. ``The only things left from my life, is what is in those boxes.''

``Take it easy, Theresa'' says her mother mad.

``Yeah, Theresa. Take it easy'' says Mark mad.

``O, shut up. Dumb ass'' says Theresa mad.

``No, you shut! It's time for you to act normal for once in your life!''

This gets Theresa so mad, that she kicks the coffee table. It bounces up and down. The coffee in the cups flies out and some lands on Angela?s elegant pearly white dress.

``Look what you did'' says Angela mad while pointing at the brown stain.

``O, boohoo'' says Theresa mad.

``Enough!'' shouts Theresa?s father. ``We have a family problem to discuss and solve. Not these fights.''

``Yeah. Lets discuss the family problem. Let's just pretend that my personal life doesn't matter at all. We all made ``big'' sacrifices. Except that mine are way bigger than the rest combined.''

``What are trying to say, sis? That we solve your problems first?'' asks Gwen frustrated.

``No. I just want to know if I can get my life back, once this is over. Or is my life, or the lack of it, the next family problem we have to solve?''

``So what, that you gave up more. How do you think we feel?''

``I had enough of this! I'm leaving.''

Theresa?s parents try to stop her, but she won't listen anymore. In the shelter, Jill does the same.

Now that Theresa has given up her entire life, she needs a job and a house. That evening, Theresa looks around in the motel room she got and the pile of boxes.

``Is this my life now?'' asks Theresa soft.

Slowly, new tears from in her eyes.

","pools_count":1,"title":"Ani chapter 2","deleted":"f","public":"t","mimetype":"application/msword","pagecount":"1","rating_id":"1","rating_name":"Mature","ratings":[{"content_tag_id":"3","name":"Violence","description":"Mild violence","rating_id":"1"}],"submission_type_id":"12","type_name":"Writing - Document","guest_block":"t","friends_only":"f","comments_count":"0","views":"15","sales_description":null,"forsale":"f","digitalsales":"f","printsales":"f","digital_price":""}
